Wheat's Landscape

I think they are just about the best in the business. They have very high standards. Their team managers are very good you get somebody who is doing a big job for you they are very good about managing the people who are doing it. They are very responsive and are very good about making suggestions for things to just look better or they know something about a tree or bush or grass etc.

I received no response from Wheat's Landscaping regarding my request for a quote using the Angie's List and quot;email providerand quot; button on the company profile.

Mark Finlayson was the Project Manager and Designer of our new patio. Mark was EXCEPTIONAL! He listened to us and our requirements and provided us with various design plans and ideas. He worked within our budget and today we have a beautiful and contemporary patio. Wheat's masons were professional, friendly, and experts in what they did. They dugout and sealed the basement wall, poured concrete at a 1 degree angle away from the home, laid stone slabs accordingly, stuccoed the bare cinder block walls and centered a stone wall in the middle of each wall highlighting it with quality exterior lighting. It revolutionized our living space and we enjoy it everyday day and night. We would recommend Mark to anyone seeking to redesign any space. Mark is DC's answer to SoBe and LA modern designers!

They are very reliable. They have a good payment structure. You can pay several times throughout the year.

Compared to other bids collected, price was good but not lowest. The design was very good and the initial work was completed on time and looked very good. Over the course of the first year, a few of the plants did not make it, which Wheat's replaced at no cost. After another season, there was additional problems with the growing conditions. Wheat's removed the old plants and replaced some bushes. Only charges were for the new materials, no additional labor charges.

Wheat's has been great for the one-time projects. They did a wonderful job removing overgrown bushes, installing the new boxwoods, removing pine mulch after we had some pine trees removed, and installing the new drainage system. The quote for the drainage system was actually significantly lower than other companies, but they far exceeded our expectations. We were assigned a project manager for all those tasks. He was great to work with and very professional. We would use them again for these one-time projects. However, their weekly lawn maintenance has been just awful this summer. We used Wheat's at our home in Arlington when we had a small yard. They did a great job on that yard so when we were looking for a new landscaper at our home in Great Falls, we were willing to pay more for Wheat's. We received 2 other quotes with Wheat's estimate coming in much, much higher but we figured that we would be getting better quality and service. We have over 2 acres that needs to be maintained and our lawn has never looked worse. Last summer (using a different landscaping company that we inherited from the previous owners) we had a lush, green lawn. This year, our entire lawn is nothing but clover and weeds. I don't know if they skipped a fertilizing step during their initial cleanup in the spring or what, but it looks terrible. I have also had to call repeatedly to remind them to cut our grass shorter. Several times they would cut it on a Thursday and by Saturday, it was already overgrown. I am also waiting for them to come back out and trim the bushes in our yard that either were not trimmed during the initial clean-up or need to be re-trimmed. Overall, very disappointing given how much money they charge.

I haven't seen any results yet, because it will take some time for the treatment to work. So I can't say if they are good or bad. Two of my neighbors used them and their lawns look good. I would recommend them based on the neighbors yards. Their prices were average compared to others I checked with.

It seemed good when the estimator was here.

They were very professional and provided a well written contract. They were also on-time, friendly, and very thorough. I did not want to use any chemicals and were very happy to acknowledge my request. He came out to walk around advise on plants that would accomodate the property well.

I have a package for full maintenance and they come four times a year. They are expensive but good. They are very reliable with their services. They are very knowledgeable.

I am satisfied with their work. They come when I call them and they fix what needs to be fixed. They are really great.

They do a terrific job. I am not sure what their weekly price is.

We pay them on an installment plan. They were very responsive from the time we contacted them to come out and talk to us about what we wanted done. They looked at the yard and measured everything they were going to need to work on. They have been very, very good even after we signed the contract unlike some companies. They have been very responsive. We are still having trouble with the grass but I don't know how much they can do in one season. We think they are higher than the average but we are also getting much higher quality than we have had in the past. It is high but it is appropriate. They are not cheap. They are not at the top of the range but they are not the average pricing for somebody just to come out and mow the lawn. They are not fly by nights and they really know what they are doing.

They were professional, responsible and all of the work was high quality. Mark Finlay was our contact person and did the design of the front yard. I would highly recommend Mark and Wheats.

They were fantastic! They took photos of the areas involved, highlighted on the photos what they would do, and emailed them back to us within 24 hours of their estimate appointments. Very professional and prompt. They kept the areas clean and tidy and hauled away all debris. I would hire them again and recommend them to everyone. They were a little more expensive than the other estimates we had, but after the first month there was no question the work would be done on time and exactly as we discussed with the estimator, so we continued working with them until the whole yard was complete. If I could give an A+ I would.

Contacted via web portal for an estimate. Received a phone call later that day. Appointment was made and a few days later a Wheat's employee came and gave an estimate. I had other plans but he told me my current soil/light would not support my plans and convinced me not to do extra soil/prep work -- saving me money! Work was performed on-time and they even cleaned up additional yard debris that was not in the contract. Excellent service!

I like that they coordinate all the services together. I have a contract that specifies exactly what they do. There is a manager assigned to me that I can call if I need something extra and they take care of it. Their workers are very nice and professional. I also like that they are a very civic minded company. They help with some parks in the area and little league. They owners are very patriotic and I feel that is a plus.

It wasn't a set price, it was a manual price. I remember that their lawn mowing price was $42 and the company I went with was $25. The man was very nice and very professional, but all he could say was, "that's our minimum price and that’s it" and I said, no. Their responsiveness was fine. I would not use them again in the future and I hope I am going to stay with the company I have.

I interviewed different landscapers and I liked he guy I met with. We negotiated a price and they came highly recommended by my builder. The designer is Mark and he's really good at managing the project, he's very responsive and on top of things. They did all the work they were supposed to do and when they were supposed to do it, it looked like it was good quality.

He came out twice and told me he was going to send me a quote but he never sent it. That's okay because I found someone better to do the work. He gave me a ball park quote and it was very expensive. It was I think $15000 for the back patio and $6000 to $9000 for the front patio and he was far outlier on price. Later he failed to follow up with the proposal that he never sent. I looked him up on Angie's List and I think he had good reviews. I think that was why I chose him to come out and give me a quote. I chose 5 people to come and give me a quote. He lacked in terms of following through. I would tell anyone who is looking for a quote from him, that he is very expensive and never follows up with a proposal as promised. The initial responsiveness was good and I think he was on time. He wasn't professional because he didn't send the proposal as promised. I had the job satisfactorily done by somebody else.

They are professional to deal with and the prices are fair. They know what they are doing and the company is well run. The people I have dealt with are trustworthy and they do top notch work. They are not the cheapest guys in town, but at the same time in terms of quality of the work they are top notch. The only thing I don't like is that because they are pretty busy and in demand sometimes it takes a while to get an appointment to get things done.

The quality of service is superior, but you have to pay for it.

There is nothing that I dislike. When they spread the mulch in the spring, they do an extremely good job leaving some of the leaves and pine needles in place, which I like. They also go beyond what the contract says and do things like picking up leaves and debris that collects in the basement stairwell. They go above and beyond, they do good work, and they do an excellent job with putting down the insecticide. I have a problem with particular bugs and they do a good job of eliminating that problem. They are prompt on cutting the grass and they do a good job of fertilizing; they don’t over fertilize and their timing is good. They observe things in my yard that might need special attention and they give me the opportunity to buy those extra services with no pressure.

Everything with them has been great.
