Dear (deleted member name), I sincerely apologize for the fact that the work was not done. I explained to my Angie's list representatives , and explained that the big deals were not working because the fuel costs were exceeding the amount of money made and I was taken off the Big Deal. I would be glad to come out at no charge and do the work for you. At this point I am generating F graded from customers I have never met, and the ones I work for all seem to like me. It seems backwards and this is a mistake. I do apologize and I wold be happy to travel to Lorton to do the work for you. I have been doing this trade for almost 17 years and it has never been a practice of mine to take money from folks and then not for the work. Especially on some thing like the Big Deal , that is only $99. I feel terrible that this has happened once again and I am currently trying to find out from My service representative why I keep getting bad reviews if I was taken off the Big Deal. I would have gladly come and done the work, but I was told that the big deal for me In Fairfax County was being cut short because our fuel costs were exceeding the small amount of money that we actually generate doing the Big Deals. This is especially hard for us because we only have a few employees and we all have families. I pay quite a bit of money to service Arlington and Washington DC. IF this can not be rectified through Angie's List , than I would be glad to do it out of my own pocket. I received an email today that said that your money had been refunded, which means the large stock of supplies I purchased for this big deal is just going to sit around and gather dust. I am glad to help out and talk directly to you, With the amount of money I pay for Angie's List each month and now the bad feedback I keep getting , eve after I was told not to do anymore Big Deals it seems like it is becoming a legal matter just so I can get back what I have lost doing the extra work I have not bee paid for and the defamation I continue to receive after I was under the impression, and literally told that I was off the big deal. If I had know then that I was going to jeep getting negative reviews, I would have rather have done them for free than have a bunch of f's on my review section. IF you look down on the previous pages you will see the people we have actually done work for love our work and they are happy. This upsets me and the last thing I ever want is for people to think Powers Custom Fencing is in the business of burning folks out of $100 fence repair deals. That is terrible, and in all my years I have never been accused of anything like this. I am a custom craftsman and I build custom fences. I have an entire website that I built to show this too potential clients, and here I am trying to explain what I never went to Lorton and fixed the fence of a (deleted member name). With all due respect ma'am I would have personally come and fixed the fence quite some time ago , but I was told by Angie's List that the Big Deal In Fairfax was not working because it is such a large county and the fuel costs and sitting in traffic, these costs exceeded the $8o or $90 I collected on the repair. A typical vehicle used to do fence work has to be semi heavy duty.. Just one of our vehicles which happens to be a Chevrolet has a 20 gallon tank that needs to be filled every other day . That is $75.80 every other day for one vehicle. We spend at least $300 plus dollars a week on fuel , which in many cases not eve cover driving to your home if you live in a distant part of the County. This was explained to our representative and he took us off the deal and we agreed to stick building fences, and not fixing broken handles and loose pickets. We are custom craftsman ans we take pride in or work.. I personally have an 8 month old baby, and she gives me all the motivation I need to go out every day and get it done, But when the numbers don;t work and we start to lose money , it becomes a burden on my family and the families of these men who help me to build fences. In closing (deleted member name) I would like to tell you I would love to repair your fence, and when the emails were sent out , that was our intention. When we realized 2 weeks into the big deal we had spent several thousand dollars on fuel , before even adding material we knew that the Big Deal was not going to work for this County since it is so large. Fairfax County Is the largest County that Angie's List services and is broken into 4 subsections, in order to make it manageable. Unfortunately a small company like ours does not get to work in 4 subsections, we have to cover the entire county. I leave in the morning when it is dark and I come home after dark and rarely get to see my child. This has take a toll on our family. WE are grateful for the work, but once the Fairfax Big Deal hit and we started getting F's from People we had either never worked for , or we had never met this caused serious problems at home. I am not sure how we can get these F's changed. to a plus grades like most everyone we work for, but it has to be done in order for us to stay in business, It almost seems like something like the Fairfax County Big Deal has the powers to wipe Powers Fencing off the map. That is a huge. We are the best fence company around. Ask any of our clients that we work for. I use knowledge passed down to me from my grandfather who used to build farm fences out in Oregon in the 1920's when they had 2280 days of rain. These fences had to last and hold up to the weather. Just to see where he came from I went to Oregon for a few years and worked in the fencing industry and learned how they built fences that stood up to so many days of rain, and I brought that knowledge back t the east coast with me. Unfortunately now instead of building these amazing fences I am chasing latch repairs around Fairfax county and spending thousands in fuel costs. Once the management at Angie's list realized this they told me I was no longer doing the big deal. IF I was still doing the Big Deal they would all be done by now. I even have a spotlight , that I bring to work each day in case I have to work into the night. Many of my clients have seen this happen,, I will not mention their names unless they allow me too. T\ I have every intention of honoring every obligation I am responsible for, But I will not pay money to work for the residents of any County. am in business to generate money and not to lose it. So far I love Angie's List and all of he clients I have met, it just seems we ran into a few hiccups along the way getting started. I surely do hope we can get these worked out and back on track, because fencing is in my soul, and I am a man with a passion for fence building.,, not a guy looking to rob clients out of $80 dollars and get bad feedback. Even for a simple person this should make sense because it makes sense to me. Dear Angie's List please help me to fix these problems , or at least explain them to the clients who think I was supposed to do this work even though you took me off the Big Deal, and let us try to please deal with this amongst ourselves and nit bring in the ones who take care of false information being spread around about companies. We just want to build fences and repair them if we have to, nothing more or less, it really is simple. Thanks Tim
