Description of Work: Nicolaus Chimney installed a woodburner insert for us at a very competitive price, and in just a few weeks. It took one morning to install. The installers offered us some good tips on issues that inevitably arise with inserts, and told us how to deal with them if they occurred. These easy tips helped prevent some unnecessary panic and gave us some quick fixes that anyone can do. |I initially had some concern about communication based on other commenters. However, in my experience, they did a good job communicating, and got right back to us. Like most operations, it's always best to drop by in-person if you have problems.

Description of Work: Non-responsive. Received automated email response to my inquires. No real email reply or follow-up after sending request for services and photos of fireplace/chimney (as requested in the auto-response email). Very frustrating. I gave a D for the overall rating because the auto-response was a nice feature ( llowing a potential customer to see the internet request was received), but otherwise, poor experience with what appeared to be a very highly rated vendor.

Description of Work: They did a good job cleaning and inspecting my chimneys and provided me with important information regarding the condition of the chimneys as well as the repairs that need to be made. However, they were supposed to follow up with a report of the condition to include proposals regarding the repairs and installation of gas fire places. I followed up once, but I still have not received a proposal. This will not prevent me from recommending them to others.

Overall experience was very pleasant. Phone representative was very nice and the workers were knowledgeable and pleasant. It did take a while between the initial call and when they were able to come out; about 2-1/2 weeks. I gave the quality a n/a rating because it is very difficult for me to judge the actual quality of the cap work. I haven't been up to the roof to check!

On time, clean and polite. Made a recommendation to replace the chimney cap but did not take measurements while they were here. Called to have them come back out to do so but they never showed up or called. Last year we purchased and they installed our wood burning stove. Would have given them an A had they taken the measurements for the chimney cap while here or followed-up on call to have them come back out and take measurement to replace the cap.

The work was done neatly and cleanly. The chimney sweep wore protective clothing - a real plus. He showed me why the wood stove and chimney were not working. When we light the fireplace next winter, I'll be able to tell if he fixed the stove and chimney.
Description of Work: Our fireplace with Grizzly wood stove would not draw. The person from Nicholas examined the fireplace, removed the wood stove, repaired the wood stove, and swept the chimney.
