Description of Work: Replace pad that had been removed from a water leak

Description of Work: I had a leak from a weep-valve and asked Mike's Flooring in Vienna if they could replace the pad and re-kick the carpet. The sales person was very helpful and asked what the pad looked like and how thick it was. I told him approx. 1/2" and that it was an upgraded pad. Description of Work: Dave Martin, of Mikes Carpet on Maple Ave in Vienna was very knowledgeable about carpet fibers, wearability and features - enough so that we got a sense of what quality and features were available, and then decide the price level we wanted. Mr. Martin was very helpful and once we had chosen the carpet quality level, we took home several samples to check the color we wanted. The store itself had a very large selection of carpets of many different quality levels and, obviously, prices. Once we had chosen the color, If memory serves, Mr. Martin himself came and measured our family room - he arrived when he said he would on the day we agreed and was done quickly. We selected an installation date but had to postpone it because of a crisis; the store gave us very good instructions about how to prepare the room for the installation - and we had a lot of books and other items to remove - but were able to leave the big pieces of furniture in place. The two-man installation team arrived slightly early - were scrupulously careful about removing the old carpet and pad and bringing in the new pad and carpet and all the moving of furniture that had to be done to accomplish the installation. The installers were careful, neat, highly professional and completed the job in about 5 hours, and then consulted with us to make certain that the heavy pieces of furniture were in exactly the places we wanted them. The carpet itself was, as far as we can see, perfectly installed - the seam between the two large pieces is invisible, and the cutting of the carpet at the store was so precise that there was virtually no leftover pieces - and we were charged only for the square yardage installed. Financial details: we put 1/2 of the total purchase price down when we ordered the carpet, and the other half after the installation was complete. From start to finish a very good experience - we had the sense that this was no heavily advertised company selling second rate good - rather a locally owned, first class business, well-managed with dedicated, professional employees that are proud and confident of their exdellent work.
