Merry Maids of Vienna

Merry Maids Vienna (MMV) simply did a terrible job cleaning. My house was clean enough where the initial deep clean on the proposal was not necessary. I specifically mentioned dusting was one of the main reasons for looking for a new maid service, and the proposal highlighted dusting. I opted for window and base board cleaning which was basically charged as deep cleaning at the hourly rate. Boy, what a $435 mistake. First time using MMV service with a $435 bill for terrible cleaning was not a good first time experience. Empty shelves weren't dusted, kitchen counters had crumbs still, kitchen cabinet surfaces were not cleaned, microwave door surface was not cleaned, windows weren't closed and locked properly, the windows weren't even very clean, with what looked like several hadn't really been cleaned. I spent another 3hrs redoing what wasn't done or was done poorly. The worst offense, though, was the chit chatting while not working. I don't care if the cleaning folks chit chat...so long as they are actually working....especially, if I am having to pay by the hour. I'm not paying an hourly rate for them to hang out, run the clock, and chit chat. I even went out into the room where the cleaning folks were chit chatting and there wasn't even an effort to go back to work or fake work. Excuse 1: we don't do closets normally. Not sure what that means given that it's a walk-in closet and they did vacuum and clean some of the empty shelves. Again, dusting was highlighted as an issue point for me. Excuse 2: MMV informed their crews to keep conversations down since people are working at home. That doesn't resolve the issue of not working when having chit chatting on my $110/hr dime. Excuse 3: If we put notes in the report the cleaning team won't miss those areas the next time around. Hello! They shouldn't have missed dusting empty shelves, cleaning countertops, cleaning surface of kitchen cabinets and appliances, which are the basic cleaning service. Now, since I spent another 3hrs cleaning after the MMV cleaning service, I won't be taking advantage of their cleaning guarantee. Moreover, I won't be continuing the service or using MMV again. $435 down the sink.

I'm sure Merry Maids tried - these were extremely filthy people - but every nook and cranny is still covered in cobwebs and gross dust, grime, rust, and dirt. Spider webs in all the corners and closets, and one fridge and the garage completely not cleaned. Mice droppings left in 3 rooms. We moved in 4 days after they cleaned and anyone could see this kind of dust, rust, and grime would not have been from us. Some areas we thought were chipped paint, were just dirt. After we finished moving in (they couldn't exactly clean with moving boxes everywhere) I called Merry Maids to see if they could come back but since it had been more than a week they wouldn't. I guess the guarantee is not worth anything.

Merry maids provide bi-weekly service. House always very clean. I have two cats that shed, and they get all the hair even from bed cover.

Since the beginning of October 2013 when the contract was made with Merry Maids, there were ongoing cleaning issues with the cleaning crew. Each time, Merry Maids worked to resolve the situation; bringing in extra help and promising to do better in the future. This last week, the cleaning crew seemed to do better and I did a quick inspection before the crew left for their next job. However, after further inspection, I noticed the first floor powder room hadn’t been cleaned properly. I then proceeded to clean the toilet, baseboard, sink, glass pedestal stand and finally the floor. Going into the mudroom, nothing was moved from the counter and just the front area was cleaned; nothing in the back, leaving residual dust. Finally, in an earlier conversation with the Merry Maids office, they assured me that a floor steamer would be brought in for the tile floors in the master bath and kitchen. That did not happen. We have terminated the contract with Merry Maids and would not recommend them to anyone looking for quality housekeeping services.

In the end the quality of every service your receive is the product of the skill and care of the individual(s) who appear at your doorway and fulfill your request. In the case of Merry Maids our experience has been exceptional because the two people who share their skills and caring nature with us are exceptional people. Thank you.
