We debated between an overall C or D for this review, but a leak just one month after finishing the job sealed the D in place. Our project with Dulles Kitchen and Bath (DKB) was a complete gut and replace of a hall bathroom, consisting of a tub/shower, toilet, and double sink vanity. While the end product came out well, and it was completed at the price contracted, we had multiple issues along the way, the project took longer than required, and we had a problem just one month after completion. Two different crews worked on our bathroom. The team that did the tile for the tub/shower enclosure and the floors did excellent work, and nothing here should reflect on them. Here is a summary of the project progress, highlighting the issues that arose along the way. We signed our contract 11 July 2017, with work to start 4 – 5 weeks after final measure to allow time for the custom vanity to arrive. We supplied some of the materials ourselves, and provided a list of all materials to the designer, who concurred they worked. Final measure was completed a few days later. On 14 Aug, with no advance notice, DKB arrived to start work. No one was home, and this resulted in a 1 day delay in project start to 15 Aug. The crew that performed the demolition and general construction/installation were on site typically 3 to 4 ½ hours day, the vast majority of the days. At one point, one mentioned needing to get to another job, so we assumed they were working multiple jobs for DKB, but we later learned from the supervisor this was their only job. At least two days they left needing to get parts near lunchtime and never returned. It was unclear to us why it took both people half a day to pick up simple parts with multiple hardware stores within a 15 minute drive. It is also unclear why the supervisor did not notice the lack of progress during his daily visits. This crew was also far less clean than in other renovations, resulting in more debris getting tracked in the house. When demolishing the original bathroom, they left in place the old drywall at the top 1 foot of the tub/shower enclosure. We pointed out the new tile would go to the ceiling, and the workers said it is fine, that part doesn’t get wet. The next day they installed green board around the tub. This came to an uneven meeting with the old drywall left at the top. When we questioned how they would lay tile across the uneven surface, the workers again said it is fine they do it all the time. We called the supervisor to question this and pointed out our contract calls for concrete backer board below the tile. The supervisor asked to meet us the next morning, and directed the green board and remaining old drywall be removed and replaced with concrete backer board. When installing the niche in the tub area, they identified a problem with an electrical line running across the niche area. While they did solve this problem, it should have been obvious, and easier to solve, before installing the concrete backer board. The tile install around the tub and on the floor was excellent. When installation began of the new vanity, faucets, lights and medicine cabinets, a problem was identified that with the combined height/size of all the items, the medicine cabinet doors would hit either the faucet or lights. This should have been identified in the design. We had to rapidly obtain new medicine cabinets with shorter doors since we supplied the medicine cabinets. Work continued at a slow pace, with the estimated completion date slipping to 30 Aug. Assessing the status the evening of the 29th, their appeared to be a lot left for one day’s work. On 30 Aug, the workers rushed to what they called “completion”, and said we’d probably want to clean up a little. We were very displeased with what they called completion! Here is a summary of the punch list we generated: • The walls were painted in the ceiling paint, and the gallon of paint we supplied for the walls was no longer in the house. When we asked where the remaining paint was, the worker lied, and said he used the full gallon. • The shelves and filler pins for empty holes were not installed in the medicine cabinets. The workers said the parts we not included in the package for the medicine cabinets. While looking through the trash for the empty paint can, we found one set of the parts for the medicine cabinets. Looking further, we also found the second set in the trash. This one had even been opened to obtain parts they did use! • Everything was dirty. There was drywall dust on the window, vanity top, inside the vanity, inside the medicine cabinets, etc. There were small paint spots on the tub, floor, and vanity top. • The caulk work was sloppy. • The exhaust fan was left venting into the attic, not to outside as describe in the design process. • The towel hook was install directly over the towel bar, instead of 6 inches offset. • The toilet paper holder was not level. • The door was left rough and un-sanded where they had to trim it so it would close right. • The painting quality was poor, including poorly prepped surfaces and large paint runs. • There were gaps between the base board and the tile floor. • The faucets were so close to the back splash, one drain lever struck it when you tried to lift it. Both drain levers did not function properly, and both drains leaked. This required the back splash to be removed and cut thinner. • All the warranty cards, installation instructions, use and care manuals and product registration cards were thrown away. We called the supervisor to express our displeasure with the “completion”, and he agreed to meet us the next day, requiring me to take an unplanned day off work. When he met us, he accepted as valid all our complaints, told us this was not up to the company standards, and that he had fired one of the two workers involved. He and the second worker spent all day the 31st, and another few hours on 1 Sep to complete the job. He also purchased a replacement for our paint that was “removed without permission”. In mid-October, we found the ceiling below the new bath had a large water spot. We also had issues with the pipes for the shower/tub vibrating loudly. Dulles initially tried to delay a response to the next day, but did come out later the day we reported it. The team inspected and said they found multiple things requiring correction, including the roughed in plumbing. Completing repairs required 3 additional visits further inconveniencing us. While here we also had them address missing caulk and having not properly shortened the bolts holding the toilet to allow the covers to fit in place. Hopefully this is the last of it. While the end product did come out well (the missing manuals is the only item not corrected, hoping no hidden problems arise) we were completely disappointed with the process and extra effort it took on our part. Further, had we not caught them, our tile would have been installed on a sub-standard base not intended for wet areas. And having a DKB employee lie to us about the paint and medicine cabinet parts is entirely unacceptable. I would not hire DKB again, or recommend them to others.

We are quite happy with the end results. The one constructive comment we have is that there is room for improvement in the communications between the designer and the project manager and that it would be helpful if all materials were on hand at the start of the project.

Overall the project went well and the final outcome is excellent. We are very happy with how it turned out. The only critique was the lack of communication between the designer and the contractor which ended up delaying the project a little bit. I recommend staying on top of the designer to make sure everything is ordered and in place for the contractor.

Dulles Kitchen and Bath recently completed a renovation of our kitchen and master bath. We are very happy with the results, as well as the process. Our designer Nathan and project manager Sinan were great to work with, as was our foreman Nelson who did excellent work and kept us informed of daily progress. We had an issue with the kitchen cabinets that caused a delay but Ali and Johan were extremely responsive in resolving the issue to our satisfaction. We would highly recommend Dulles Kitchen and Bath.

Excellent. Very high quality, affordable and professional.
Description of Work: I have used DK& B for a kitchen 2 years ago and then chose them again for a full bath and bedroom remodel. They have an excellent showroom, friendly and knowledgeable professionals and they are reasonably priced. The work is excellent and we are very happy with beautiful finished project. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.

We received initial bids from four companies and we narrowed it down to two who we felt most comfortable with. We chose Dulles Kitchen and Bath (K&B) over the other company despite the other company having better reviews, because we felt Chris, the Dulles designer, did a better job of listening to what we wanted. He patiently modified multiple designs, providing 3D images to match our changes. We saw a picture of a “breakfast bar” and decided it would be a better use of an area adjacent to the kitchen. Chris’s ability to translate our desires into 3D designs allowed us to see what would be best and discard those that would not work well. Chris also came up with a wonderful solution to our blind corner, better than any other I’ve ever seen. Rotheny and Val did a phenomenal job and are true craftsmen. Their insight and experience helped us choose details that brought the whole project together better than we envisioned. We were completely comfortable giving them access to our house including when we were not home. Dulles K&B ended up tiling a half wall in the adjacent powder room. They also built a custom designed “storage wall” to better use available space. Even though neither of those were in the contract, and required them to uninstall and move cabinets they just installed, they didn’t charge for the additional labor or materials! I told Sinan, our project manager, the kitchen is better than we dreamed because they made changes as our dream was being realized. They did take about as long as they estimated they would, but since we changed the design, they had to do some “re-work” that was on us, not them. We believe we received better service from Dulles K&B than we would have from the other company and we are perfectly happy with the result. We will likely use them again and would recommend them to others.
Description of Work: The kitchen project was to update 1980’s cabinets and counters. We then added building a “breakfast bar” which meant removing a pantry and closet and rebuilding those in a new location. During the construction a “storage wall” was added to the project.

I had two bathrooms remodeled and updated. and will be using this company for two more bathrooms that need to be updated. This company was perfect for me, and I would highly recommend them to anyone. They did good work and responded to any question or issue that I had in a timely and professional manner. I also like the idea that they are not so big that you get lost between big projects.

I had my entire kitchen redesigned. The Dulles K&B team did a fabulous job with it. They were very professional and delivered the job on time. Chris Peters was the sales person for the project and he was very helpful in designing the project, including selection of hardware and other materials. Once the contract was signed, Sinan took over the execution of the project. He was constantly in touch during the execution and took care of all the items in a timely and professional manner. Pricing was reasonable and the quality of the work was beyond my expectation. Ali was also supervising the project and made sure that the contractors were delivering the work. The contractors came on time as promised. I certainly recommend them for kitchen remodeling work of any kind.

The project went extremely well. Everyone whom I encountered from Dulles Kitchen and Bath were very skilled, knowledgeable, pleasant and professional. The construction was finished exactly on time.
Description of Work: We needed to replace and reconfigure the entire kitchen to maximize the space, replace and update everything, and direct traffic flow better. By taking down one wall to the dining room and creating an opening from the kitchen to the living room, we were able to make the space beautiful and more functional.

Dulles Kitchen and Bath will not honor verbal warranty as indicated during multiple conversations with Project Manager and Company Owner at the time of the Project. The individual that was our Project Manager and now indicates he is the owner refuses to honor their verbal promised despite the verbiage on their website touting their ethics - "You can check for yourselves that ethical considerations are indeed placed high on our priority list seeing that we treat every job as special as the last one or as important as the next one will be. We value integrity and have exceeded expectations on every occasion by simply doing the right thing." This is the response I received via e-mail: " Robert, It is my understanding that you called and asked for someone from Dulles Kitchen and Bath to come out and have a look at an item you believe to be under warranty with Dulles Kitchen and Bath. I will start by apologizing, but we are not going to be able to fulfill your request. There were many concessions made by Dulles Kitchen and Bath during and mainly towards the end of your project that we feel were totally unneeded and unnecessary. We deducted quite a bit of money from the signed contract in an effort to make you happy. Due to these circumstances, your warranty is null and void. Thanks" Dulles Kitchen and Bath followed up with another email indicating the following. "Robert, I'm the new owner of the company. I have checked your folder and contract again we never included a warranty for your project." Buyer Beware!
Description of Work: Five months after master bath and vanity renovation, I called Dulles Kitchen and Bath to have my shower glass enclosure repaired because the water is leaking underneath the glass onto the marble tub surround. This was already repaired soon after the initial installation. I also wanted the line between the ceiling and crown molding re-caulked and painted because it is splitting already in numerous places - only five months after project completion.

Response from Dulles Kitchen and Bath
Dulles Kitchen and Bath offers one (1) year labor warranty and limited lifetime warranty on every product provided by reliable vendors to clients who honor the payment plans in their contracts. In this case, the client refused to honor his/her final payment in full which was specified in the contract. Unfortunately, this client's non-payment for our services terminated our relationship and obligations. We can't further service clients who are not willing to meet past contract conditions. This client's neighbor was also a client, and she was so happy that she appeared in our website to give us a testimonial and refer others. We did everything we could in good faith to make her neighbor happy from the beginning. It is unfortunate that we were forced to terminate our services due to this client's non-payment of the work we had performed. At Dulles Kitchen and Bath, we make every effort to make our clients happy and satisfied.

My wife and I want to personally thank Sinan, Nathan and their entire team at Dulles Kitchen and Bath for their work on our kitchen and master bathroom. They displayed professionalism throughout the job and we really appreciated them constantly keeping in touch with us during the renovation to see if we wanted to switch things (which we did a couple times). We would work with them again in a heartbeat for all of our future needs and couldn't be happier with the finished product!

My full master bath remodel turned out amazing! The design created by Eniko, totally transformed my master. The process was simple and stress free as they handled everything and ensured my total satisfaction. Ali the project manager monitored the project daily to ensure the work was done correctly. There was a couple things that went wrong right away, but the guy came right out and fixed it. I don't have any complaints. Things go wrong sometimes. It's really beautiful and they gave me a discount because I did two bathrooms. I had three people come out for an estimate. I didn't pick them because of their price. I picked them because they had fabulous ideas. They were the nicest people to work with. The last time one of them came by, I gave him a big hug. They were just so nice. The quality was wonderful! They rescheduled initial appointment twice to take measurements for a bathroom, which was an inconvenience since I had to rearrange my work schedule. We at Dulles Kitchen and Bath are truly sorry for the way this situation played out. We were not aware of the deal that was placed on Angies List due to some miscommunication between Dulles Kitchen & Bath and Angies list. As for the project in question, we would have loved to help you with the project but it is just not possible to give you a quality project with quality materials for the price given in the promotion you purchased. Again, we are truly sorry that this didnt work out and have taken the necessary steps with Angies List to have the promotion removed

Job took two and a half months to complete after failed county inspections and slow (sometimes absent/missing) workers. Original estimate from the manager was 2-3 weeks to complete. The manager/designer we were working with completely disappeared a few weeks before the project ended and no one at Dulles Kitchen and Bath told us why. The final product came out good and we are pleased with it, but the stress and time it took to complete is not something we enjoyed having to endure. I think they could have been more professional with timelines, employees leaving the work site early, and overall communication.

This project did turn out to be a beautiful bathroom. The 2 1/2 month time frame mentioned was not 2 1/2 months of actively renovating that bathroom. The customer is referring to the length of time it took to complete the project from the day the contract was signed. We will not start a project until all the materials need for the job have been ordered and received. That can take 2-4 weeks depending on the manufacturer. After the project was started, the homeowner changed their minds and decided they wanted us to pull the permits. Being that the project was in Loudoun County, it took a little longer to get the permits requested. Once the permits were issued, the work continued and the project was finished in the 3 week time frame quoted. There was a hold up in passing the plumbing inspection, but that was due to the inspector wanting to do a water holding test. The shower pan was filled with water and left overnight to ensure there were no leaks in the shower pan. The inspector came back the next day to review the test and passed the inspection. We are happy with the [Member Information Removed] the project turned out. We are sorry the customer was unhappy with the time frame in which it was finished, but it was finished well within industry standards for the scope of work covered.

I could not be happier with my new kitchen. I find new things to like about it every day. The design is incredible. My designer Johan had excellent suggestions for resolving the design challenges. The service is top notch. My project manager, Emre was on top of everything from day one. We completely gutted the old kitchen down to the studs, removed walls and expanded the space in my dining room. Remodel works completed everything on time and within their original price quote. They solved every problem we encountered quickly and competed everything to my satisfaction. I have told everyone how much I love my new kitchen. I would hire them again for future projects.

I began the project by meeting with Johan and immediately liked him. I wanted a beautiful shower with a bench and grabs to replace my old tub/shower combination, new cabinets, stone vanity, floor tile - the works. This was my first bath remodel and he stuck with me through the project. If he didn't help me choose materials, he guided me to the right suppliers. His team was very professional and very nice. Johan definitely cared about my concerns and the outcome. I would hire them again for my next remodel.

I just completed a kitchen remodel with Dulles Kitchen and Bath and I have to say that it was a much smoother and less painful process than I was anticipating. I really enjoyed and appreciated working with Johan, who was on top of the whole project, from the initial designs to the completion of every stage. He made sure that the process ran quickly and efficiently and was immediately responsive when questions or unexpected issues arose. Even after the project was completed, Johan was available to straighten out adjustments that still needed to be addressed. I would definitely recommend Dulles Kitchen and Bath and especially Johan for anyone's remodeling project and would definitely use them again.
