Description of Work: What did they do? Not much! First problem- the estimator showed up four hours late. Second, I was promised an estimate in my email within "a few days." However, I have yet to see one. Third problem, I followed up with a call to the company and was told I would get my estimate soon. Well, that was two weeks ago. Stay away from Disaster Response. Their response truly will truly be a disaster.

Response from DR Restore
It was very nice meeting with you in your home on January 27th. I am sorry but because you could not define the project, an accurate estimate was not possible. After a fire, the first step in the restoration process is scope discovery, not price. The complexities of fire damage mitigation, reconstruction and scope coordination require the answers to dozens if not hundred's of questions that define scope and ultimately cost. This is why we first needed your written permission to engage your adjuster in this collaborative process. Frankly I'm puzzled, that our efforts that included 10 hours of free consulting, would warrant your response. I hope you find your expert contractor and they exceed your expectations. Sincerely, Thomas Mitchell President

Description of Work: The team at Disaster Response were quick to respond to our flood/water damage issue. They answered our questions, worked efficiently to resolve the problem and when they were done, you'd never know there had been any damage. They were polite, professional, and would recommend them to anyone dealing with damage to their home. I hope I never need them again, but if I do, I won't hesitate to have them work on our home.

Description of Work: A branch fell from a tree and punctured my roof in a small area. Water caused some mold in a pantry closet and in the roof. Disaster response took care of the mold, removing drywall and wood, and treated the area so mold would not return. Then they reconstructed the area to restore it to its original condition. This is very specialized work and not cheap, but they did an excellent job. If mold isn't treated it can spread and be a disaster in a house. Fortunately my homeowner's insurance covered most of the expense. I would use this company again if needed, they knew what they were doing.

Description of Work: Came out and evaluated the flood damage within hours. Began remediation that evening after my insurance adjuster reviewed the damage. | |Restoration took longer. In part due to lack of response from my insurance and the provider being busy doing remediation after some strong storms. The repair was completed in a single day and the work was excellent.

Absolutely excellent service!
Description of Work: During recent heavy rain in Arlington, both of our sump pumps failed. I called Disaster Respones, Inc (we had used them before during Hurricane Sandy when we had our basement flood). They sent Scott Beers out the same night. We had been bailing by the 10 gallon bucket (with 2 children and a niece) and we were all ready to collapse. Scott got temporary sump pumps hooked up and ready to go in no time. He put us in touch with another provider to install new sumps the next day.. he saved our basement! Thanks Scott and Disaster Response Inc.

Description of Work: After a break in the main water line leading into our home which resulted in water coming into the basement through the foundation, I call Disaster Response Inc to have them mitigate the water damages after plumbing repairs had been completed. The telephone receptionist was polite, courteous and efficient. I rearranged my work schedule for the four hour time block was scheduled on September 14, 2012, for an appointment. No one showed up. I called the office in the last 10 minutes of the time period. Once again, they were polite, courteous and apologetic that their scheduled technician had been ill the previous day and was completing unfinished work at other job locations. Once again, rearranged my schedule for the rescheduled appointment for September 15, 2012.. Three quarters of an hour after the schedule appointment time AND after receiving no call from the company regarding the delay, I declared the appointment a "no-show" and called to cancel. Terrific phone service....NO SHOW FOR TWO APPOINTMENTS.

Description of Work: On Friday, June 29, 2012, we experienced a severe thunderstorm that caused our chimney to fall off our house. We call our insurance company and I got on Angies List. Since this would be a major repair I did not know what all it would entail. I contacted this company so that I would have an idea of the cost of repair. John Levan, a Technician for the company, called me back within minutes and gave me something better than an estimate. He gave me knowledge. He explained to me in detail how the repair process works with the insurance company and he reassured me that my particular insurance company was one the better ones. After hearing I would ' Be in Goog Hands", I felt much better . He advised me of a course of action and provided much needed advice.Though this company probably will not be doing my repairs, I would strongly recommend them based on their upfront honesty and willingness to assist the homeowner.

Description of Work: Our family and laundry rooms flooded in the huge storm that happened July 13. Disaster Response came the next day with five fans and dehumidifier and anti-microbial air cleaner and left them in place for the next 3 days. Before they installed the equipment they had removed the saturated carpet (which really needed replacing anyway) and vacuumed the water and carefully cleaned the surface of the floor. They moved some furniture so that they could get to the carpeting and were thorough and professional and excellent. We could not have been happier with their service and definitely recommend them.

Description of Work: I contacted this company by e-mail to see if they could provide an estimate for cleaning after our neighbor's house was gutted by a fire. They asked where I lived, and I responded that I live in Center City Philadelphia (they came up on a search of Angie's List for Philadelphia even though they are located in Virginia) and they didn't bother to even respond to that message. Very unprofessional.

Dear Member, On July, 7 2011 we responded to your email request for a free estimate. Why wouldn't you just call us? Communication really is a two way street. We currently service Maryland south to N. Carolina. Coincidentally in the last week alone I have fielded calls from distraught homeowners in both PA and NJ. Because of our peer relationships and expertise we were able to guide these two homeowners toward recovery. This is really what we are all about. Best of luck, Thomas Mitchell President Disaster Response Inc.

I did not discover the wet basement until several days after the last big storm. I called at 2:30 p.m. on a Saturday and was told that a technician would arrive by 6 p.m. At 6:05, he arrived and immediately went down to assess the damage. There was a very unpleasant smell in the room where the carpet was soaked. He checked everything - said there were areas where the walls were wet, and he also found wet areas in adjacent rooms that I had not seen. He then made a detailed list of the services that he would provide, including removal of the carpet and some of the padding, applying sanitizer, cleaning up the tile floors, and drying everything out and quoted me a price that I felt was reasonable. I had had a similar problem several years before and had paid more to a national chain that did not do as much as this company was going to do. Within an hour he had moved the furniture out , cut the carpet into strips, packed each strip in plastic bags, and taken them out to his truck. He also applied the sanitizer. He said he would return the next day to bring the dehumidifier and more fans, which he did, and said he would come back in two days to pick it all up. On the day he was supposed to come, the secretary called to say that there was an emergency and he wouldn't be able to come for two days; I mentioned that the dehumidifier had blown the electrical circuits and asked what I should do; she contacted the tech, who said to unplug everything. Two days later when he didn't come, I called the company and was rather irate, saying that I didn't know if things were drying out properly because of the electrical problems and the fact that no one had come to check on the situation - this was a Sunday. Within an hour the president of the company called and said he was on his way to take a look at the situation. He arrived on time, did a very thorough inspection and asked a lot of questions, and apologized for the communication glitch and said he would bring it up at the Monday meeting. On Monday when the tech arrived to get the equipment, he apologized and said that they were working to correct that particular problem. He did a great job, and the head guy's visit went a long way to give me confidence in this company. I would definitely call them again.
Description of Work: They cleaned up water on the floors, removed saturated carpeting and padding, tested for the amount of water in the walls, and set up fans and a huge dehumidifier.
