Dave did an awesome job. he was professional and very pleasant to work with. He is a true craftsman and did an outstanding job repairing the plaster walls in my living room. I would definitely hire him again.

Drywall installation went smoothly. The existing plaster ceiling had already been removed, but in addition to the drywall installation, some repairs to the adjacent plaster wall were also needed. I was initially a little surprised at the amount of time scheduled to do the work. At that point I had no understanding of the sequential nature of doing drywall installation and the need to let things dry thoroughly between steps. In the end, the job took exactly as many days as originally estimated and the ceiling was ready for me to apply paint. The final product looked great.

This is the best contractor I have dealt with in the area thus far. This is what dealing with a contractor should be. If you ever need plaster or drywall repairs, this is the company you should hire. They are extremely easy to deal with, and just good people. I phoned many companies to provide estimates, and this is one of three that returned my call, and one of two that provided as estimate. While it was not cheap, the work was extensive. The repairs were time-sensitive because I had a painter scheduled to work immediately after the plaster repair.

A chance lunchtime meeting conversation connected us with Mr. Patterson. Our project was "small" and the Christmas season was approaching, and we had put off the notion of having the drywall work done until after the holidays. To our surprise, he went out of his way to assess our project requirements, deliver a written estimate, and proceed to complete the work, all prior to the family Christmas gathering. Everything done was first class, the explanation, the care to isolate the workspace, the professional work and cleanup, and the genial interaction with Mr. Patterson through the entire process. The ceiling areas are as good as new. If we have any further drywall work, he surely will be our choice.

Pat was excellent and his work was top-notch. He framed out our unfinished basement that was full of irregular spaces and made everything look great. His work really transformed the space into a finished living space. Pat was very good about making adjustments when we changed parts of the project after receiving his initial estimate. All of the drywall work is excellent--Pat is a perfectionist about the drywall edges. He's also a really good guy and was good with our kids etc. We also enjoyed working with Julie, who handled the scheduling and logistics by phone and e-mail.

I had very positive experience with them. I called about 10 companies and I selected them. I would use this company in the future.

Based on the estimate I was very comfortable with them, so I decided to have them come back. That is going to be another week I have from now. They will be coming back. In terms of price, well I have not compared with any others and I went with the individual. The price sounded reasonable to me because they have to come twice. In terms of responsiveness, there was a little bit of confusion and I am not sure if it is their fault or my fault.

After inspecting the room, Mr Patterson outlined my options. He suggested I could do the job myself. He saw the work I had done (using drywall) in putting back a 6' wide closet wall I had removed to create a passage between adjacent rooms and, as I had the necessary tools, he offered to tell me what materials to get if I wanted to do the job myself. Although I probably could have done the work using drywall, I do not have the thousands of hours of experience (and muscle memory) that would ensure a high quality plaster job. Mr. Pattersonsaid he could repair the plaster or he could cover the ceiling with 1/4" drywall ( I asked about that option). In his judgment repairing the plaster would yield a superior result and maintains the integrity of the plaster in the house and that going the drywall route would not save much if any money. He explained the lead abatement requirements in older houses (I was generally aware of the requirement but not the details.) I chose the plaster repair option. Mr. Patterson put all the protective coverings in place, removed and replaced the damaged plaster on the whole ceiling and a settlement crack on a wall of the room and then left the room spotless. Mr. Paterson was very professional and courteous throughout the engagement. In this era of drywall, there are not many skilled plasters around. I recommend anyone needing plaster work, either new work or repair, to contact the D.S. Patterson Co., Inc.

Project went smoothly. The nature of the work required in to be done over 3 days (drying time between coats). The end result is really excellent. My ceilings are amazingly smooth. I was especially impressed at how neatly he worked, never leaving any dust or crumbs behind. There is wall paper running right to the opening at the top of the bay window, and he managed the entire repair with no damage whatever to the wallpaper.

Mr. Patterson has done three different jobs for us over the years. He always arrives on time and cleans up when he is done. His firm's work is always first-class and very thorough. Mr. Patterson stands behind his work and his company's work, and always did a great job for us.

I was looking for a quality contractor that specializes in drywall to come in and remove my existing standard drywall ceiling. I then wanted them to install standard fiberglass batts of R19 and then install two layers of drywall replacing the previous one with a layer of green glue in between the two layers of drywall. Green glue is a very effective sound deadening type substance that you install between standard drywall. It is great for use in home theater rooms and such. This R19 and standard drywall can purchased anywhere. The green glue comes in tubes just like caulk and I told them that I would purchase it and they just need to put two tubes between each sheet of drywall. I was attracted to D S Patterson because they have drywall and plastering in their name. A lot of drywall contractors do so many other things. So initially my impression was that D S Patterson was a drywall expert and could handle anything. I spoke to the guy that invented green glue and he stated emphatically that any drywall contractor would be capable of handling the job. I sent a very detailed email to D S Patterson on a Thursday. The email that I sent to them was so detailed that it was in paragraphs. I told them the square footage, that the existing ceiling had no insulation, the age of the building, etc. I told them that I wanted the existing ceiling removed. I told them that I wanted the new drywall ceiling to be two layers of drywall with the green glue in between the layers. So they called me and they made an appointment with me. The appointment was on a Saturday because that is the only day they can do estimates. This was not a problem for me. I assumed that they had read my email and that they were able to do the work that I wanted completed. Normally I spend my Saturday time doing other things than waiting for estimates and such. But I stayed home and waited for them. The D S Patterson representative came by on Saturday, I believe his name was Pat. He had a tape measure in hand and such. But he never even used the tape measure for the estimate. When he walked in I said- I guess they told you what I need done here, right? His reply was- no- they just told me it was something about a ceiling. He then listened to me state everything to him which was stated in the original email to D S Patterson. At every step he balked at my request to remove an existing ceiling that nothing was wrong with. He never took not a one measurement. He was only here for probably two minutes. I had other work that I wanted them to do but he never even gave me a chance to state the specifications of the other things that I wanted done. He was literally like a cat on hot tin roof as they say to get out. I was extremely confused because I clearly stated what I wanted done in the initial email that was very detailed. He left saying they could do this and it was not a problem. He said it would cost a lot of money and make a big mess but they could do it. However he took no measurements which I found odd. He even commented that it would be an easy job because I had no furniture in the place- I just moved here. He told me that I would receive a quote or estimate the next Tuesday following. I had a funny feeling about it though because he protested about what I wanted him to do. But I was confused because I clearly stated what I wanted done in the initial email. If D S Patterson was not able to do a job like this it seems to me that they would have said so from the get go as they say. Well guess what? D S Patterson waited until Tuesday of the next week to send and email to me saying sorry we must decline to provide an estimate for your job because the scope and logistics are more than we imagined. I was really confused. I mean I told them what I wanted done with great detail from the beginning so I did not understand why they did not say no then. And I found that the appointment with the estimator was nothing more than a game and a waste of my time because he walked in and asked two questions and walked out. The bottom line is this- I clearly stated upfront what I wanted done. At that point they clearly could have just said no- sorry we cannot handle this project. I wasted my whole Saturday afternoon waiting for them and they just strolled in and out in two minutes. Clearly they could have done a better job of communicating and been more upfront with me. To add insult to injury when they emailed me saying they could not handle the job I emailed them back and kind of inquired why did they not tell me that from the beginning. They did not even have the courtesy to reply and say sorry we did X because of Y. I have learned my lesson for dealing with contractors- when you call them you need to say- are you comfortable with doing X. Can you complete X project. Are you sure you can do X. Do you have experience with X? In the future I will know what to do. It was very confusing because they have drywall in their name but they could not handle my project which was clearly in the drywall category. Clearly they do good work. I mean they have great reviews. However if you have a complicated project then you might want to forget it. If you ever had a problem with this company it would become a gross problem because they have poor communication among the staff. You need some wallpaper taken off your dining room walls then call them. Got a big drywall project and need something big done then do not call them. I learned my lesson here. Email with some contractors may not be a good idea because clearly they do not read emails. And clearly in some cases they do not even tell the estimator what is needed. You might want to ask like five times- can you do x, are you comfortable doing x? Just because a company has Y in their name and it's the only product in their name does not mean they are a specialist in Y. I'm sure that D S Patterson can take the bad 70's wallpaper off of your kitchen wall but I do not thing they can replace the drywall in your kitchen. Go with these guys for small jobs but save the large jobs for the professionals.

The estimator was very knowledgeable and a clear expert who focused on details in the estimate. I appreciated that he pointed out challenges to the work and proposed how they would address. Ultimately, I went with a lower bid from a company who promised to finish the work faster. However, I would definitely consider DS Patterson for future projects.

Because of rippling in original plaster ceiling in kitchen - with a defnitie "wavy" look - I assumed whole thing would have to be taken down and replaced. Nails were coming loose from joists, creating several bubbles throughout. Was afraid ceiling would fall. Contractor showed us new metal anchors that when placed every few inches, pulled the plaster back back into place. Finishing was superb and ceiling now looks flawless. Work took big hunks of time over three days - because of waiting for each coat to dry between finishing. He brought big box fans to help cirulate air overnight and speed up the process. Clean-up was meticulous - not a speck of any debris left when all was done.

Excellent experience and quality work. Pat Neary was sent out to estimate this job and came in the lowest of 3 bids. The price was fair and the work was well done. Pat did a fantastic job addressing all of the issues that come from working in an older home and was honest and sincere. While I do not know him personally, I came to learn that Pat is a perfect gentleman, neat, clean and hardworking, and an excellent, creative craftsman to boot. He was patient when I asked a million questions and addressed all of my concerns. I would absoluetly hire him again.

From start to finish nothing but smooth sailing. I thought that complete drywall replacement was needed due to previous owners "artisitc" endevours. Dave suggested a plaster overcoat versus a complete re-do. Saved money and time. Called them back to do another job. They will be the first one I call, should the need arise again.

Dave Patterson was very pleasant and professional. He was very punctual and was efficient during his work hours on our 3 day project. Dave was especially pleasant with my family while doing his work, sometimes entertaining my child and having his wife provide gifts to my kids on his last day of work. High quality job from beginning to end. Fair pricing, honest demeanor and candid assessment of the job up front were the key ingredients to us hiring him. We evaluated 4-5 others and none came close to him in our analysis. Would highly recommend Dave to others without reservation.

We had and estimate and have signed a contract with DS Patterson. The work has not yet been performed (scheduled for week of 6 September). Will report back after completion.

Dave was great. He was extremenly busy when we contacted him in June and said he couldn't get to the job until late summer. He did brace the ceiling for the interim period to ensure no collapse and no further damage before the repairs. He worked quickly and professionally when he did the work and fixed cracks on the walls as well. the ceiling looks fantastic.

I was trying to set up a time for them to give us an estimate. Instead of doing so, they gave our information, without our approval, to someone else. I do not like the fact that they gave our information to someone else without asking us. I will not use this company nor would I recommend them to anyone else.

He explained in detail how the job would be performed, and prepared an impressively detailed contract that described the entire process and everything that would be included in the price. He came out promptly to examine the problem, provided a very quick estimate/contract by mail, and even came out to perform the 3-day job ahead of schedule. Service includes a one year guarantee on the work. I would hire David again without any hesitation.

It was not a major work but just a touch up work. They were professional, responsive and punctual. The price was fair. Everything was great with them. I never had any problems with them.
