Description of Work: They were able to send someone very quickly. Price was slightly higher than other quotes but they could start and end sooner so we went with them. The guy they sent was very personable and we would use him again. | |Only issue was the contractor flushed drywall compound down our toilet when cleaning his tools. Nothing ended up happening (yet) but it still terrified me when I found out. The drywall was hung with four joints meeting at a point which we didn't catch until it was too late. Generally you want to stagger seams which didn't happen but I'm hoping it was finished well enough to not be an issue down the road.

Description of Work: Mr. Patterson is a real craftsman and did a beautiful job replacing/repairing our living room's plaster ceiling. Our home was built around 1940 and there were structural problems that, over time and with the added impact of the earthquake in our area several years ago, brought our ceiling almost to the point of collapse. We are grateful for Mr. Patterson's expertise in dealing with this very problem and for his quick assessment of the gravity of our situation. The day after giving us the estimate and our decision to hire him, he came out and positioned supports to hold our ceiling in place until he could come back in a few weeks to do the job. He took down the damaged part of the ceiling, being careful to follow lead-safe practices with layers of plastic sheeting and other measures to protect our family from the dust. Then he put up the new ceiling and covered it with plaster that blends seamlessly with the remaining ceiling and matches the look of the rest of our home. He even used a bit of plaster to repair several cracks in our entryway, leading into the living room. On top of this, he was very respectful of our property and took special care to guard against damage to our hardwood floors throughout the repair process. It was a pleasure working with Mr. Patterson and his wife (who communicated with us via email and phone regarding any schedule changes). I heartily recommend this company for anyone looking for a careful, detail-oriented craftsman to handle plaster repairs.

Description of Work: DS Patterson repaired a section of ceiling plaster that had been damaged by a leaking roof. The work was done beautifully, Mr Patterson clearly recognized the type of plaster and was able to patch it perfectly. My room was left in immaculate condition. It was a pleasure to find a true expert in the craft.

Description of Work: This company uses independent contractors to perform requested services. We had drywall repair done in a powder room, ceiling scraped to remove stipples, and a countertop removed & required drywall repair in another room. All tasks were done to our satisfaction. The office was very cooperative in responding to any questions we had.

Description of Work: If you need drywall work, these are your guys! We had a couple of water damage areas in the ceilings of our 1979 Ryan home, which has a very prominent textured ceiling. One of the damage areas was in the front foyer, and since we are selling the house and have to have the foyer looking perfect, we were afraid we would have to have the whole foyer scraped and re textured. Joe came out for our estimate, and said he used to work on building Ryan homes and spent all day texturing the ceilings, even still had the brushes he used. The scheduled the work the day after we signed the contract, and patched the ceilings and did a perfect job re texturing, you can't see the repair at all once we repainted. They also drywalled the back and side walls of our garage. They were done with everything in about half a day, and left not a speck of mess, even though drywall work is usually messy. I would definitely recommend the for any drywall work you need.

Description of Work: A relatively simple job, removing popcorn texture from our ceilings (end total about 800sq.ft) and putting up plaster in its place; The guy who came out originally impressed me over other bidders because he didn't just look, take notes, and hand me a sheet of paper, but asked questions, made suggestions, etc. He arrived on time every day; did take slightly longer than quoted but only slightly and within bounds of flexibility anyways. Contractor was quick to suggest followup tips even though he wouldn't be the on doing them (we have to prime and paint now!) So overall good stuff...

Description of Work: I needed to have fairly minor drywall work completed in my closet and kitchen. Pat, a DH associate, promptly provided an estimate and performed good work. The cost was reasonable. The work was fairly basic so I appreciated that the cost and scheduling was quite simple.

Description of Work: We live in an older Tudor style home with plaster walls and ceilings which have been repaired over and over again. Last year's earthquake added more cracks. Dave Patterson completely redid the walls and ceiling in our dining room applying 1/4" drywall to all surfaces with adhesive, screws, tape and attended to every detail with precision. He then applied layers of plaster and perfectly matched the textured plaster finish in the adjoining living room on the walls and 18" ceiling border and added a beautiufl smooth plaster finish to the central area of the ceiling. The walls and ceiling look absolutely beautiful. He also applied 1/4" drywall to cover two bedroom ceilings that had cracks, plastered over the drywall, and smoothed each to a lovely finish. Additionally, he repaired numerous previously poorly done plaster repair cracks in the living area and bedrooms. He made the repairs disappear with his expert skill. With each repair, he matched the plaster finish in the room. The quality of his work far exceeded our expectations. In addition to his amazing drywall and plastering skills, he demonstrates outstanding personal qualities... hard working, thoughtful, trustworthy, knowledgable...perfect in every conceivable way. His wife, Julie, administers the business, and she is totally focused on customer service. She is equally outstanding. They are both amazing. We have had many contractors in our home during the past two years with some less than favorable experiences, and that's why I joined Angie's List...where I found D.S. Patterson. Description of Work: Pat Neary was initially hired to replace a dropped ceiling and paneling in a split level basement family room, bedroom, hall, and bathroom. This involved coordinating with our electrician for installation of recessed lighting. Since the contracted work was being done on a foreclosure home purchase there were many projects added along the way: replacement of paneling in additional areas, framing and replacing doors, securing baseboards in other rooms, building steps, lots of drywall repair, etc.

Description of Work: Mr. Patterson and subcontractor, Collyer Construction, hung drywall and taped and sanded three rooms in our basement: A large home gym, home theater, and guest room. Rooms were odd: Trayed ceilings, 4 small, unusual closets (some with pocket doors). They put in trim, doors, and fixed other little things pre-existing in the basement. They forecasted some of our needs that were not in the rough-in and made adjustments, much to our benefit and gratitude.
