The technician was polite but unfortunately everything that's where all the positives ended. He tested the execution sequence up to the point where the igniter glowed and stopped short of checking the gas valve and provided the following diagnosis on the service visit invoice - “…I found no voltage being sent to gas valve from furnace control board. The furnace control board has failed and needs to be replaced ($923.78)” I was already quite familiar with startup sequence of the Furnace from my own troubleshooting research up to that point so wasn't easily convinced about his diagnosis. I had already determined that the inducer motor fired and the igniter came to a full glow but that's where I stopped and called Air Treatment for help. After the technicians departure I proceeded to check for voltage supply to the gas valve during the few seconds when the igniter glowed bright and was surprised to find there was voltage supply to the gas valve during that period before the igniter went out again. I repeated this test a couple of times thereafter. Clearly the problem was with the gas valve and not the board, even though there was an outside chance that the voltage being supplied was not adequate as I only had the tool to check for supply, not to determine the precise level of voltage. Note, the technician had diagnosed there was no voltage supply to the gas valve whatsoever. I proceeded to get quotes for the gas valve and the control board from the few HVAC servicing providers that did not mind providing a quote without requiring a diagnostic visit. Not surprisingly each of them quoted significantly less for changing the control board ...between $700 and $500. Finally I stumbled upon a provider who offered a free second diagnostic if I could show them a receipt from the first one. Their technician proceeded to test the startup sequence and confirmed a correct voltage supply to the gas valve and then setup to test the pressure/supply to the gas valve and to our surprise this time the Furnace fired and worked as normal. He asked if there had been recent gas utility work done in the street and I vaguely recalled a crew's presence near my home a few days ago. We conjectured it could be a number of possibilities including introduction of some kind of lag or air pocket or possibly the beginning of intermittent trip ups of the gas valve that was beginning to fail. Granted he was unable to provide a clear diagnosis but the Furnace was inadvertently fixed as a result of his opening up the gas pressure/supply checking access points of the gas valve after establishing that the fault was not with the voltage supply from the Control Board. The Furnace has been working flawlessly since for nearly a week now. Either way, it was certainly not a problem with the Control Board as the Air Treatment technician had concluded without testing out the entire sequence and checking voltage supply to the gas valve or the gas valve pressure/supply. Glad I got the second opinion, saved me the ridiculous $900+ that Air Treatment was asking to replace a perfectly working Control Board that had nothing to do with the problem.

I hired Air Treatment Company to replace my HVAC and I see why the company consistently earned an esteemed Angie's List Super Service Award. I rate the company and my experience as excellent and I am a very satisfied customer! My AC unit failed after 15 years during a heat wave in July in humid/hot weather in the DMV area. I had just returned home from vacation had no AC. At first I wasn't too worried because I had a home warranty protection plan because I expected either the AC or furnace to fail soon. To my surprise the home warranty company assessed the repair to be $800 (due to a dated AC system that still used freon) and stated they would only pay $300 toward the cost, I had to pay the rest and they made a decision to not replace the unit. I could not believe it, thus I cancelled the home warranty after accepting a payout of $400. I proceeded to research several companies and listened to 4 companies and their proposals for a bid to replace my HVAC over a 1 week period. The process was exhausting stressful and I was hot. I invested the time to educate myself and assess the companies because the HVAC replacement cost was estimated between $7k and $10k. The top 2 companies that I seriously considered were Brennan's Heating & AC (honorable mention) and Air Treatment Company, however, the winner was Air Treatment Company hands down! Brennan's best price was for a Carrier Comfort Series, however, ATC's best price was for an upgrade to Carrier's Performance Series for a very competitive price as Brennan's. My entire experience with ATC was favorable and I would highly recommend the company. First impression was with the consultant in my home, Philip Oliver. He was extremely knowledgeable and patient with explaining the science of AC units and what contributes to better comfort. I learned more about sear ratings, variable speed blower motor, evaporator coil, condenser, capacity, compressor, reducing humidity levels, passing less air evaporator coils and how all of that works with the number of vents in my home that I could imagine. Philip's proposal included a fair price and he made sure I had enough information to make an informed decision. Philip's experience, customer service, pleasant demeanor, sincere and genuine made it easy to choose ATC. He set me up with ATC's best and lead installer, Phu, who had 11+ years of experience. Phu's hard work was professional, efficient, diligent, concise and clean. From day one, the cool air comfort has been great. During the winter, the furnace operated optimally and the comfort in my home has been great with the heat. I have now experienced 2 summers and 2 winters and can attest to the fact that my utility bills have gone down significantly and the air comfort in my home has gone up. My stress and anxiety over making this major home purchase went away and no I'm not being paid by ATC. I give credit where credit is due. After energy assessment, dampers were recommended. Contacted Air Treatment Company for an estimate. An individual gave an estimate and I scheduled with Air Treatment Company to complete the work. Bill and Ryan arrived on time and immediately went to work. When they finished, they showed me how the dampers worked. I asked Bill how my system looked and any areas of concern. He mentioned one item and showed me. I asked if they could fix the issue and they did. I appreciate their honesty, workmanship, and professionalism. I will use this company again.

The Short: Highly Recommend this company and if your looking to install a new system ask for Philip Oliver. It is always recommended to get three quotes, I recommend having AIR Treatment as one of those. The Long: I replaced my first HVAC system 15 years ago in a 1956 house. The replacement was on an emergency basis and I had very little time to do research. The contractor, not Air Treatment, did a good job installing, but basically just replaced my old system with a new one of the same size and did not consider any other factors of the house (this seems to be common practice). Fast forward 10 years and I purchased a 1986 home and within 2 years planned for a replacement of new HVAC system. I did my research this time. I had performed many upgrades to the home, such as attic insulation, new windows and doors, performed an energy audit, etc. I was looking for a contractor that would consider the upgrades, perform its own analysis of duct work, air flow, etc. in providing a quote. I reached out to three contractors; which were HIGHLY rated Angies List contractors. However, only AIR TREATMENT stood out as HIGHLY EXCEPTIONAL, mostly in part of Philip’s expertise and professionalism. I am person living with MS, so managing temperature and humidity in my environment is critical. I choose AIR TREATMENT because Philip listened to my wants and needs for a new system, he reviewed documentation I had on the upgrades to the house, inspected the house, and demonstrated the tools the installers would use to ensure proper balancing of the system. Even though the other contractors were given the same information, one contractor never provided a quote (apparently, I asked to many questions) and the other just quoted the same size of the existing system; which was much to large based on the house. You might ask how I know this? The energy audit performed on the house was prior to installing the new HVAC. I performed several energy fixes to the house, such as air sealing and added insulation. According to the Energy Auditor, after the upgrades my HVAC would be oversized and I could save money when purchasing a new system. AIR TREATMENT did quote a smaller system. Finally, I asked Philip to design a system that I could later add a second zone if needed. I spoke to Philip 3 years after the initial install and he had all of the paperwork from our previous conversations. AIR TREATMENT recently installed the second zone. AIR TREATMENT does all the servicing of the system. Again, very happy with this company, Philip and the system works exactly as I want.

Excellent, I was past the coupon date by a week or so but Air Treatment said it did not matter. Tech arrived on time. Tech was professional, personable and efficient. He explained all work at end and asked if I had any issues or questions.

Went great. They installed the AC system and do a great job maintaining it. They also are trusted advisers on our 1981 boiler.

Called in and received same day service on home’s electric furnace. Found electric shorts and fixed them. Then found one of the electric heating elements was still not working. Ordered a replacement part for next day replacement and set up furnace for temporary heat overnight. Returned promptly the next morning with a new heating element that seemed to fix everything. The next morning the heating problem returned. I called Air Treatment again and they sent out a technician immediately. He found out that an emergency fire damper had failed and closed blocking all heat from entering the air ducts. He measured for a replacement and jury rigged the furnace to heat our home till a replacement part could be obtained. They came out the same day the parts came in compleated and tested this final repair. During all this effort, Air Treatment personal over the phone were helpful and the service techs were on time and courteous. I will continue to use them.

Technician came on time and very detailed about explaining the issue. He tested the A/C and determined that A/C was running on low freon gas. He said he can fill it up. Only issue is he did not weigh the tank before he start filling up. After he filled he said approx 1.5 gallons. If he might have shown me what is the weight of the tank before and after fills I would have fully satisfied.

I have used this company twice so far. Once to do my fall service and just recently to diagnose why I was not getting even airflow into some of our bedrooms. On both service calls, their technicians were courteous, educated, pleasant to deal with, and thorough in their service and explanations to me. I have had many technicians in our home over the years and if these two represent the company, they are a cut above other technicians I've had service our systems. I can only guess this is because the company recruits and trains their techs well.

My entire experience with Air Treatment Co was terrific. The woman who arranged my appointment over the phone and the technician (Greg) who came to my property were both incredibly courteous and thorough.

ATC was late for the Initial appointment to diagnose the problem, but quick and thorough to figure out what was wrong which unfortunately was replacement of air conditioner. Holiday delayed the installation (so another couple days of uncomfortable heat in the house), but ATC showed up on time for the date of installation and professionally replaced both air conditioner and furnace. You could find cheaper models, but the cost of the Carrier model installed was reasonable. The willingness to accelerate delivery and installation next day after a holiday was greatly appreciated.

It went great! Called after discovering we didn’t have heat at about 2:00 pm. They were able to have someone come out that same afternoon and we had heat by 6:00 pm. The technician quickly diagnosed the problem and repaired it very efficiently. He also answered my many questions. If needed, will definitely use them again.

Excellent! After a bad experience with another heating company who told me the unit was beyond repair, I called Air Treatment Company. The dispatch operator was so nice and was able to squeeze an appointment in for me the next day. Mike called when he was on his way. He inspected the furnace. It turned out the igniter was bad. And while we will need to replace the furnace soon, Mike helped give us a little more time to save up. Great company. Honest service. A +++++.

After placing the media, the technician discovered that the solanoid had failed--little water was reaching the humidifier media. He replaced the solanoid under warranty.

The tech was vey good. He showed me the air filter had to be replaced and checked the rest of the furnace.

It went very well. I have an annual service agreement with them. They come twice a year for inspection.

Tech spotted problem right away. Had a drain backup in HVAC unit. He suctioned it out and was finished very quickly.
