They never showed up for their scheduled appointment. When I called to see if anyone was coming out, they said they would let Ann know and call me back. I never heard from them and no one ever came out.

They took a while to come out and do the work. First appointment was in December and no one showed or called. Second appointment for inspection was in January. Then they said they would come out to do the work and it took them another 3 weeks. In that time they were also looking for a new fireplace screen for us. Could not find what we needed so came out and sealed the chimney as requested. They came in and did the work and we felt did an honest job.

Due to bad weather, the first appointment didn't happen. Unfortunately, I had to call back to reschedule; no one called me to let me know the service person wasn't coming nor did anyone call to reschedule. Other than that, the service person was knowledgeable and helpful.

It rained on first scheduled appointment, but no one called to say that the appointment would be rescheduled. I had to call again -- there was no follow up on their part.

Called when en route as requested and was on time. Due to circumstances, had to schedule a return trip to finish the job and this occurred within two days. Very happy they returned so quickly. Very professional, fast, and courteous (Much appreciated!) Quality of work was very good. Overall, very satisfied! Would hire again.

We had used Black Goose a couple of times in 2011 and 2013, thought they were a little expensive, but they're a local company and seemed to provide good service. So we called around the end of September to request cleaning of 2 flues and repair of the masonry cap on our chimney. When the woman returned our call, we were told the earliest appointment they could give us was 2 weeks out (Oct. 13) and further stated they might not be able to repair the masonry at that time, he'd have to look at it. We went ahead and scheduled the appointment. The day of the appointment, 30 minutes after the estimated window of arrival time had passed, the owner called and stated that 2 of his 3 work trucks were having transmission problems and he would have to reschedule. We said okay and asked for a new appointment. He stated he would have to call us back when he was in the office with his schedule in front of him. That was 10 days ago today and we still haven't heard a word. When 2 days past and we hadn't heard from him, we called another company. They came yesterday, were polite, prompt, professional did a wonderful job, cleaned both flues and repaired the masonry on the chimney cap. Their flue cleaning price was over a hundred dollars less than we paid Black Goose 2 years ago. Needless to say, we will not be calling Black Goose or recommending them to anyone we know in the future.

Called to let me know he was on his way and was very prompt. Very professional and polite. Did a very good job. No mess. Black Goose installed a new wood stove for me last year with a new chimney liner. They are a very reputable company. Would recommend them to my friends and will definitely use them again. Ben did the job at my house.

Called 9/18/15 and left a message with answering service - they said he'd be in contact with me in a couple of days. A week later (9/28/15) after not being contacted I called back left my contact info again and again they said he'd be in contact with me in a couple of days. A week later (10/5/15) called again after not being contacted, left my info and mentioned that this was my 3rd time calling; asked if they knew why I hadn't heard anything - they didn't. I do not plan of calling a 4th time.

I tried to contact this business via phone and email several times. They have never called me back or returned my emails. I thought that maybe because it was close to the holidays this was the reason or that it was winter. I then called back in January and still never received a return call or email. So I never had the opportunity to even speak with anyone. I simply wanted to comment on the fact that in order to maintain a successful business, calling prospective customers back would be a crucial aspect.

Went fairly well. They put a lot of pressure on the "upsale". Trying to get me to do a lot more than I was willing to do with the chimneys. They did good, clean work. They were a bit later than they said, but I wasn't too annoyed that day. I've found a different company to clean chimneys since. They are a little bit more down to earth, and don't put pressure on me to spend more money with them.

Very professional and kept me up to date with estimate prior to service. Willing to accept partial payment today. Completed work in a timely manner.

I found this company to be extremely unprofessional both in scheduling the original appointment and in following through. 48 hours prior to the cleaning date, I was told not to make a fire in my wood stove. I did as I was told and had a very cold house during the coldest two days of the year so far. The morning of the appointment, I took off from work and cleared the area around my wood stove for the cleaning. They had promised to call on their way out to my house so when I hadn't heard from anyone by 9:30 AM, I called to inquire if they were on their way. The person who answered the phone said she did not know but would get someone to call me back. By 10:30 AM, I still had not received a call. I made another call to the company but half way through expressing my concern that I had still not heard from anyone, my call was cut off. When I called back I was put on hold. I finally spoke to another person who began asking me the same questions I had already answered the first time I called. She told me she would get someone to call me back. The owner finally called me some time later and began making excuses about computer glitches and other non pertinent information. They had no one coming to my scheduled appointment and made no effort to make this right. I found the whole experience was outrageous and totally unprofessional. When they offered to make another appointment in two weeks time I told them no way.

Black Goose came out in early Oct to review, inspect and clean two chimneys. We never had caps on either chimneys. They recommended Stainless Steel caps and could order/instal these for $210 each. While there are lesser expensive options (galvanized metal); these types of caps are around the cost of caps ordered from Home Depot/Lowes. The caps took about 2 weeks to come in - but the provider came back and installed. Caps are as promised. Chimneys were cleaned on first visit. Team was professional and courteous.

Black Goose was the only company to be able to get on my roof and place the chimney Caps with no problems. They had scheduled the appointment and another client had cancelled making it possible for them to clear my service earlier.

Job went great. Very professional - hardworking and easy to work with. Would use them again - will use them each year for chimney sweep -They cleaned up great after job. Stove looks beautiful and cannot wait to use it.

They are an excellent company to deal with and it was perfect. They were very professional and their recommendations are right on top. The price is reasonable. I would hire them every year to clean my chimneys.

They were very prompt (actually early) very professional and a pleasure to work with. Also answered several questions I had.

It took a few days for Black Goose to call me back after initially calling their home office, but once they did everything went great. The team that came out to my house were prompt and called when they were on their way to make sure I was available. They took the time to inspect everything and explain to me what they were doing and why. They used blankets to make sure that they were keeping everything as clean as possible when sweeping the chimney. Overall they did a great job and I have already recommended them to by brother.

Needed the chimney swept, but had Chimney Swifts present. Educated us as to the laws with regard to these birds. Waited until the birds flew south, came back and swept the chimney, installed caps and repaired the chimney sealant up top. Very pleased. Schedule early if you're calling "in season". They are in demand.

We converted our gas log fireplace back to a woodburning fireplace. Wanted it inspected for safety and to have a cleaning. They were very professional and knowledgeable. They gave advice and recommended annual cleanings. They found a problem with one of the chimney inserts and stated they would be on the lookout for a replacement for an antiquated chimney insert. They were very efficient.

After moving to the area in October 2012, into a house with gas logs in the fireplace and a gas stove ( both inoperable) in the basement, I was looking for a chimney sweep to inspect the flues and tell me if I could install a wood stove in the basement. I found Black Goose Chimney Sweep on the internet and it was clear from John Briscoe's web site http://www.blackgoose.net/ that he was a certified chimney sweep and someone who was going to provide knowledgeable advice and safe, thorough services. On his first visit he swept and inspected both flues, he determined that the flue to the basement could be used for a wood stove. He advised on a wood stove based on our room/home size and intended use of the stove. Since the flue was located in a sheetrock wall, he let us know that we needed a zero clearance thimble for safe installation. After thinking about it a few days we ordered a Hampton H200 stove from John. He ordered the parts and stove, installed all on 21 December and our house is now much warmer and cozier feeling than what we get with our primary heat pump heating system. He did an excellent job of installing and his crew put on our new chimney cap to prevent any breakdown in the mortar on the top of the chimney. Highly recommend Black Goose for chimney, fireplace, and wood stove or insert services.

I do give them points for being very pleasant and friendly on the phone. We had scheduled a chimney cleaning for 9 a.m. Warning flags should have gone up when I was called the day before and told the chimney cleaner might be late, that they would "try" to get him there on time, but it could be 9:30. The following morning at around 10:30 when no one had shown up, I called and spoke with the answering service. Since I had something else going on in the afternoon, I felt it would be cutting it close if he showed up from that point on. I canceled the appointment, and when asked about rescheduling, told them I wasn't interested. At no point during the delay or after I canceled was an attempt made by Black Goose to contact me. This left me with the sense that they are not very reliable.
