Excellent! The owner, Michael was able to set up a next day appointment with his son Ryan. Ryan was very professional, nice and did a wonderful job. I highly recommend this company and will use them for all future carpet care needs.

I just wanted to follow-up with another review to say thank you and let everyone know what a wonderful job Carpet Medic does. I plan to call them again for my next carpet cleaning needs. The true test of carpet cleaning is not right after they are cleaned, but later, after normal wear resumes. After Carpet Medic cleaned my carpets, they stayed cleaner longer and spot cleaning was easier too. A neighbor of mine was over to the house just the other day and she commented on how bright and clean my carpets look! Upholstery cleaning has also held up and still looks good. Proof is in what lasts! Great quality work!

First, I'll say that the end result was relatively ok. Most of the wrinkles were gone (but not all), and the carpet looked nice standing up after the cleaning. But I need to mention a couple of major issues I had with this provider: 1) The pricing seemed really wishy-washy at first, so I asked for a quote after Michael arrived. He walked through and put together a quote in writing, also reflecting some concessions based on our discussions. Almost immediately after starting the job, he found a couple of ways to increase the price. He will say that at first you do not know the total amount of work that will be required, but I believe that a true professional has a solid handle (at least 90% certainty) on what work is required after seeing the house in person. I felt "nickel and dimed" throughout the experience, and that some of the items brought up should certainly have been known during the original quote. In the end, a wrinkle left in the hallway was not stretched out because he said it would cost extra. 2) This provider spent a significant amount of time chatting with me and my wife, a small portion of which was helpful tips about carpet, but he also got into politics and many other topics. This made it impossible for my wife to focus on her work, which she does from home. She politely brought this up a couple of times, but it continued. 3) A lot of time was spent explaining in depth about why something couldn't be done at all or couldn't be done up to our expectations. I wondered several times why I was paying the price tag quoted (actually, above the quoted price) was when much of what we brought the vendor in for could not be done. 4) I was charged a full rate for moving furniture in the room, after which the vendor explained that he could not move two large pieces back onto the carpet while it was wet without the wood stain permanently staining the carpet. We moved them back ourselves later, but I was fuming about being charged $50 extra for furniture to be moved. There was minimal other furniture, since we had already moved several items out. In summary, my expectation for excellent service is for the vendor to keep focused on skillfully completing the work expeditiously and with a high level of quality, and at the agreed price. While the carpets came out "ok" overall, the work was overpriced and it was just not a good experience for us. Sales tactics are used heavily while the work was so-so.
Description of Work: Stretch the carpet in several rooms, then clean it.

Response from The Carpet Medic
Regarding your issues with our service Mr. C, I will first say that we did everything in our power to please you to the utmost while also refraining from devaluing our services. 1) In regards to stretching carpet, any provider of this service will tell you that it is extremely difficult to set a completely stone price before beginning the work as there are so many "ifs" that come into play throughout the process that cannot always be predicted, which you know because it was made very clear to you before we ever began to work. I will also say that my original estimate of $760 before beginning the work (including the concessions we discussed) was absolutely within 90% certainty of the final outcome of $800. It was also made very clear to you from the beginning of our interaction that we could not promise perfection or make the carpet look brand new. The slight wrinkle left in the hallway at the end of the job was a product of your choice not to pay the extra cost in order to do a seam in the hallway that would need to be done in order to remove it, this was actually one of the concessions in the quote that you mentioned, so you were aware of the possibility of the hallway stretching costing more than first discussed. 2) As far as chatting during the job goes, I will say that I only stopped to speak once for 5 minutes during a 15 minute break I took, during which your wife openly contributed to the conversation we had and made no comment suggesting that our conversation was keeping her from more important business. The only other time we spoke was during a time that I had moved the bed frame in the master bedroom and asked her if she would like to clean the dust off the baseboard while I had it out, and we spoke for another 5 minutes while she dusted. To be frank, 99% of the conversation that occurred during the work that we completed was actually invoked by you as you consistently questioned every single price and process throughout the entire 5 hour job. 3) I'm quite confused at your suggestion that most of the work you gave us to complete couldn't be completed, as every single task at hand was completed to the best of our ability other than the last bit of the final hallway wrinkle that you refused to pay the pre-discussed price for the seam required to complete it, so this suggestion is just completely untrue. 4) Your issue with paying for furniture moving is hard to understand as well, considering that the two pieces of furniture that we did not move back into the rooms after completing the job were both rooms that we did not charge you for furniture moving (the hallway and the dining room). The only rooms you paid for furniture moving in were the living room and the master bedroom, both of which had more than enough furniture moving required to justify the price charged for doing so. Nonetheless, we STILL offered to return to your house the day after to move those same two pieces back to their original places and you refused to allow us to do so. To summarize, we did absolutely everything in our power to please you and unfortunately realized too late that it was quite frankly impossible to do so as you clearly had very unreasonable expectations. After giving you in total $180 dollars in discounts for the work that we did on both the cleaning and stretching, it seems as if there was just no way to make you understand that just because you unfortunately are having to shell out money for different services in the process of selling your house (I bring this up because you mentioned it several times), we cannot devalue our service past the point of it being worth our time and effort of doing such a large and strenuous job. We also did our very best to explain to you that stretching and cleaning carpet does not provide the customer with brand new carpet, and that if that was the result you wanted then unfortunately you would just have to go out and pay the thousands of dollars required to buy brand new carpet. While we absolutely understand that our services can seem expensive for such a big job, I will mention that your work took up 3 time slots of our schedule for that day, as well as the time slot we spent coming out to your house the first time we had originally scheduled to, only to find that there were other contractors in your house and you did not have time to speak to us nor was the carpet ready to be stretched nonetheless. While it is upsetting for me as well and I am sorry that you were not pleased with our service, I have come to realize that it was not possible to achieve your level of expectations. We wish you the best Mr. C, The Carpet Medic

Ryan came out to the house alone. He's such a nice and professional young man! Originally I had purchased an Angie's list deal for 7 rooms plus stairs for $179 or so. Booking was easy! I asked for a Saturday date well in advance and they were happy to oblige. I knew a few of our rooms would count and two because of their size, and we have two sets of stairs in the home. We also decided to add pet enzyme treatment to the whole house after I spoke with the owner at the initial booking. I was given a window of 9-11 for arrival. Ryan called at 9:10 and said he'd be there in 35 minutes. Perfect! When Ryan arrived we walked the whole house together. We discussed the rooms that would count as two and he gave us his opinion on stains he thought may or may not come out. He had no problem with us adding several additional rooms and the extra pet enzyme and scotch guard treatments (I was worried about time contraints). And he definitely hooked us up with our large closet and sitting room. Because this was a new house to us, we weren't sure of the origins of the stains. Ryan was pretty darn good at guessing what would and would not come out...he did not over or under promise. We were very happy with the results and the cleaning solutions smelled wonderful. I'm not sure how long the job took him, I left early and my husband stayed home, but Ryan's a good, efficient worker. A note on pet enzyme treatment: Prior to the carpet cleaning, my very well housetrained dog was marking his territory on the carpet in our new house!!! He could clearly smell the previous owner's dog and wanted to make his presence known. I was really hoping The Carpet Medic's pet enzyme treatment would put and end to that and it definitely did. No more marking from my mutt, which was a huge relief. If you are moving in to a home that had a previous dog there, it's well worth the money to get their funk out. If we hadn't done it, I could only imagine how much more marking my dog would do. Overall I've very happy with the service received and would gladly call them again for future cleanings!
Description of Work: Cleaned all of the carpet in a 3500 sq ft home that we recently purchased. Pet enzyme treatment was added to all rooms and scotch guard in a few areas as well.

I think the cleaning went well. There were two men - a son and a father. The son did all of the cleaning. The father is a talker - and that is an understatement. He is very passionate about carpet cleaning but he bent my ear about carpet cleaning, etc. the entire time he was here - non-stop. The other concern I have is that the first thing he did once in my home was bend back a section of my carpeting that had not been installed correctly. It wasn't installed well and it's giving at the edge. He proceeded to pull it back much further than it had already been and speak to me for a long time about how bad it was. The problem is that he made it worse. I finally requested that he get started on the cleaning and stop discussing that part of the carpet. That part of the carpet now looks worse than it did. He offered to come back and fix it for me, but that did feel somewhat opportunistic. He also said at one point that another client complained about feeling pressured for other services. While I didn't feel pressured exactly, his passion was over the line at some points - he talked non-stop about all the services he would do "the next time." While I appreciate letting me know, generally, what other services are offered, I quite honestly just didn't need the level of detail provided. If I could provide any helpful feedback, it would be that both people need to engage more in the cleaning - or just send one person to do it. As a homeowner, I don't usually engage in long conversations when getting carpets cleaned, etc. There's polite chit chat of course, but unless I specifically ASK for in depth advice, I don't want to stand and discuss it for longer than 5 to 10 minutes or so! I didn't want to walk away from the conversation lest I come across as rude, but please think about this next time you're cleaning. I appreciated his level of knowledge - he seems to be very educated in the art and science of cleaning - however, I would have felt more comfortable if he had spoken for a few minutes and then gotten back to the task at hand. I also noted while reading some of the other reviews that some others have provided similar feedback so I hope they'll take this and work on it. The work itself seemed great, the price was fair but I probably would not work with them again due to the non-stop discussion and the way he handled our incorrectly installed area.

You weren't having us move any furniture so the actual cleaning only took one person. I also did not pull your carpet up as there is NOTHING holding it down. In fact there was a hole that you could see the sub floor. All I did was gently lift it and show you where your kitchen floor guy messed it up and what HE would need to do so it could be fixed. If he, or another wood floor installer don't do their part we or another carpet guy won't be able to fix it. Lastly you are correct I do go over a lot of stuff about your carpet and its cleaning on the first visit to your home. On visits after the first I don't go over that stuff unless asked. I do have customers that let me know they don't care to hear any of the tips I give to help maintain their carpet and make it last longer, which is fine I don't take it as rude. However when there are problems that I see like, animals in n the house I have to go over the problems that can happen if you don't use pet treatment. If I don't then your leaving a different review of how I made your carpet and house smell bad! To all my potential customers if you don't want the tips to make your carpet cleanings last longer in between cleanings. Just let me know I won't take it personal. There are a lot of bad cleaners out there that don't care. I do! My goal is to get you on the right track and perform an outstanding job!

When you first bought your deal months ago I contacted you the next day through the message center to call and schedule your appointment as you did not leave a # to contact you. Then you contact me months later calling me a liar and screaming at me, at that point I decided it was best not to argue with you. Since your deal had expired I was still going to honor it even though it was expired, but you would have to pay the difference of $15.00 as the new deal was $115 not $100. That's when you became belligerent.

They initially rescheduled due to van complications. Then I called as I was on my way home, he seemed irritated as they were there 10 mins (even though my daughter was there) he said they didn't start work as they had to get paid first, I reminded them I paid through angies list. I showed up minutes later to see small puddles on my laminate floor and when I touched my persian rug it was wet!! I was so angry, I could not believe they do not 1. roll the carpet/flip it out the way, 2. Hello! Use a sheet or tarp to protect the floor when they are soaking the chairs?? The guy said they never do and was adament it WASN'T a big deal which made me even more angry, they wiped it up with my towels they didn't even bring their own. The ONLY reason I didn't give a F is because the chairs came out ok.

I called multiple times when we was on the way and you didn't answer. We typically don't go into homes when just minors are there. We only did as you had other contractors in the home. When you arrived 45 mins into the job I knew we was going to have problems as I greater you in the driveway and you practically growled at me with an angry look. I did ask your kids for an old towel as the ones I had had gotten wet with nasty water that day and I didn't want to bring that into your home. It was only a mild detergent and water wiped up. It was a light mist and a few drips of water that were on the floor and was wiped up immediately and you acted like you needed to build an ark. Then you started screaming I wasent dry cleaning and complains about a 4 hour dry time. The deal you purchased was for steam cleaning not dry. Which dry cleaning wouldn't have touched you furniture as it was heavily soiled. Next time you have so many issues contact the service provider before purchasing any deal, also don't leave children to take care of adult business.

The Carpet Medic is a team of professionals that do exceptional work! I contacted the company to make an appointment and spoke with the owner, Mike. He was very courteous and accommodating when it came to fitting the service into my busy schedule. He informed me that the cleaning team would arrive between 11:00-1:00pm and I would receive a phone call 30 minutes in advance when they were on their way and that is exactly what transpired. They were very punctual and professional. I was given an estimate and I found it to be very reasonable. Once they went to work they were very careful with the furniture and open to my specific requests. I was impressed with their cleaning equipment I found it to have much more cleaning power than the larger companies I have used in the past. During the cleaning process they explained every step and were more than willing to answer questions and provide me information. Once they had finished I was allowed to take my time and inspect the work. The carpets were cleaned extremely well and in some areas looked brand new!! Before leaving they left me with two sets of sterile booties so this allowed me to enter the cleaned rooms immediately if I wished- I subsequently found that to be extremely helpful! I highly recommend The Carpet Medic, this company cleaned my carpets thoroughly and the results are spectacular! I have found a carpet cleaner for life!!

They arrived late for their appointment but called to say they had run over at another job. They didn't want us to move the furniture out of the rooms they were going to work in as they were just going to work around them. They were fast and friendly but since we had bought the deal with Angie's List they were very specific on how much they would cover on the job. Since I had a large living room, I knew it would be considered 2 of the 5 rooms. When I agreed to pay extra for the Pet Decon per room, they were more willing to do the hallway and stairs I had thought would be my 5th 'room'. They were able to get some stains out they I never would have thought possible. All in all, it was a good experience and if you need carpet cleaning done, these are the guys to do it. Just be prepared for it to be a little more expensive than planned. But the quality is worth it.

I was not happy with the results. The owner and owner's son (teenager I believe) cleaned the carpet. I paid $159 for 6 rooms and extra $20 ($120) per room for pet treatment. Then an extra $50 for two upstairs room for urine stain and smell. I was told they schedule two hour slots to do the work. They finished within 30 minutes. I questioned the owner about the quality of service got versus what I paid for. He assured me that he did his best to get the stains and smell out, not just the pet related stains but others. I just do not get a good feeling about what happened. I will replace the urine stained and order carpet and have the other carpet cleaned again by another company.

I never told you the job would take 2 hours, I did give you a 2 hour window of arrival time and called 30 mins. ahead prior to my arrival, which you still were 15 mins late. The job took well over an hour which is standard for 6 areas. When we walked the job together and got attacked by thousands of fleas you ran out of the house. I explained to you my concerns of the front bedroom, that a large dog had been peeing in. I told you that a topical treatment is not 100% guaranteed and that room may need more in-depth work, or replacement. Other than that room we removed ALL the stains in the carpet. You called me an hour or so later and asked about the downstairs living room and dining room and said what about how the carpet was faded in the traffic areas. I told you that once carpet fades there is no cleaning that can add color back to the carpet.

I was able to communicate with them online through Angie's List and book my cleaning. They showed up on time and were very polite. They assessed the areas to be cleaned and then got to work. The whole process took less than an hour (just stairs, upstairs hallway, and bedrooms with closets). I am very happy with the results! I would definitely recommend The Carpet Medic to all my friends.
