Butch's Tree Service

Butch was awesome. He explained everything that would need to be done, asked if I had questions. Said it would be a small job and that he would stop by after a large job in the area to take care of it. DONE! AWESOME! Will use again!

He was non-responsive. We called and emailed with no response. I did get him on the phone once and he said he would call me back. He never did call back.

Job was completed promptly & quickly. We were very satisfied and we will definitely use them again if/when the need arises.

Saw the crew at a neighborhood home. Stopped to get number. Mike came up and said he would come over that evening for an estimate. It was storming that evening and near dark when he got to the house. I think he under-estimated the damage and scope of the job. What started out being a $2000 estimate turned into a $3300 job. Butch(the climber) and his ground crew came the next day. They worked non-stop for over 5 hours to clean up the storm damage. My son-in-law had cut up large branches that landed on the deck, fence and in the neighbor's yard. We just stacked the debris and were waiting for the city dumpster to dispose of the mess. Ground crew loaded and chipped all of that as well as what they cut down. In the light of day, Mike saw more trimming that needed to be done--other neighbor's tree limbs hanging over my property causing the trees to lean my way. Butch and the crew didn't hesitate to take on the extra work and got it all done that day. They worked so very hard all day, I thought the $3200 was well spent. The extra $100 for "fuel charge" was a last minute charge Mike threw in when I was writing the check--seemed a little petty, but it was all money well spent. Watching Butch way up in the trees cutting huge limbs and he and the ground crew lowering them by rope safely to the ground was quite a show!! Job well done!!

It went well I would use in the future

I called them over for an estimate but the bid was extremely high and we opted not to use them. Because of that, and the fact that they were rather difficult to reach, and even a missed appointment, I decided to go with someone else.

We loved him. He was very nice. I would highly recommend him. We had a lot of offers and his was the best. He did a good job on the clean up of the job.

From my first contact until they left today, Butch and his crew did a great job of communicating, getting the job done and TOTALLY cleaning up the yard of debris. In addition they spotted some wasp nests (I had had a couple of wasps in my house this spring and did not know how they were getting in) and they were able to eradicate them I would not hesitate to use Butch, Mike and their crew again. Thank you Angie's List for putting my mind at ease.

Couldn't have been better. Kept in contact with me to let me know what time he finished up other job and would get to my place. Pleasant, knowledgable, left place looking like trees were never there. I can't imagine calling anyone else.

They came out and cut down the tree and said they would be back to take out the stump. Well it was a couple of weeks until they took out the stump and when they did come no one ever called to say they were coming they just showed up and took it out. Never received the bill I had to email their office and they told me how much and where to mail it to.

A little wait for service but job was done well.

Everything was excellent. Butch and his crew came out fast, were professional, courteous, nice and quick. Removed 3 stumps, cleaned up after job and as far as I know price was comparable in price.

We basically got a $100 off. They did a good job. They knew what they were doing and we have no complaints about it. It was cheaper then what I was expecting it to be.

The contractor came out one day to estimate the work and returned another day with a bucket truck to perform the work. He seemed knowledgeable about various varieties of trees and how best to prune them.They did a nice job and cleaned up behind themselves. The work was performed at a townhouse in Norfolk and a single family home in Portsmouth on the same day.

Butch provided excellent service! Butch came out to do an estimate and gave a good price. We agreed to a date for him to come cut down the trees the following week. He was not only on time but a little early that day. He immediately got to work. Butch is the person who climbs the trees, and he has a few workers that help haul away debris. It took a good part of the day and a little of the following day to complete the job (it was winter; shorter days). My husband and I are very pleased with Butch's, and highly recommend him to anyone interested in tree service. He is very professional and friendly. He is a very hard worker and does a great job!

Butch and helper arrived on time, performed the necessary work for taking down the tree and carried the debris to the street. They left the yard clear of any branches, etc.

They did a great job an finished very quickly. Butch stuck to the quote and did a fantastic job. I highly recommend you use this company for all of you tree service needs.

They were on time and got the job done quickly. Their pricing is a little cheaper than the others. They came out exactly when they said they would do.

Nothing happened because they never showed up on either date!!! :(

Initial contact and response unsatisfactory.

.Butch explained, when he came by my house to check to see what I needed done.That it was hard to give an exact time he would be back to do the trees, because customers, alot of times, ended up wanting additional work done or maybe an emergency call came in. The work was done quickly & correctly. When Butch & the truck left, the whole was as clean as a whistle!! All the trees look great! I will surly use his company again in the future!

Emailed the company to set up an estimate and after some schedule coordination an estimate was schedule...yes the estimate was done albeit I had to reschedule because even though it was agreed upon that the estimate would be done at 5pm-ish on a Monday he did not show...I sent an email at roughly 550pm inquiring if they were still coming to do the estimate...called at 615pm to the phone number on the email (office phone) as that was the only phone provided at that time to see if I could get a hold of someone- no joy, I finally got a response at 640pm saying it would be a while...I sent an email response that said if they couldn't make it prior to sunset at 735pm then we needed to reschedule...got a response saying that they had gone to the wrong street and we rescheduled. On the rescheduled day (Wednesday) and time he showed up on time and at the time of the verbal estimate I was told that if I'd like that I could get a scanned/emailed copy of license and insurance information. Two days later on Friday at approx 7am I sent an email requesting a revised quote from 6 trees to 3 trees and at that time I also requested the copy of the license and insurance information that was previously offered so that I could do my due diligence and make sure both were current. I didn't hear anything back. On Sunday, I sent a follow up requesting the same information as the email of Friday just in case the original request wasn't received. I have heard crickets. While the gentleman who came out to do the estimate was polite and knowledgable I am extremely disappointed in that I couldn't get a response to my emails given not only the offer to provide the liscnece and insurance information but also the price of the estimate. Being in the profession that I am (contracting) I need something in writing for an estimate and especially since I was decreasing the work scope- not fair to presume cutting the work in half would result in the verbally quoted price going down by exactly half. I think I gave the company more than enough chances and was more than fair. Would I contact them again? No.

Got Butch's info from Angie's list. Came out right away and knocked it right out. Cleaned up afterwards, no mess!

I bought the big deal to get some brush taken out before starting exterior work on my house. I called on a Friday - he came to give me an estimate Sunday (which it was all covered by my deal) and he showed up that week to do the work. I'm satisfied!
