Description of Work: I bought a window air conditioner from them and had them remove/discard the old one and install the new one. Deanna (sales) did a great job finding us a unit to fit a small window opening. Install was very professional and efficient. Would definitely use them again for my appliance needs.

Description of Work: bought all of my appliances through sterling appliance when i renovated my kitchen. start and purchase went well. i bought bosch range and microwave, fisher paykel refrigerator and a miele dishwasher. the only issue i had was that i called three times to resolve an issue with getting the wrong miele model and this was never "really" resolved.

Description of Work: Our washing machine died on us last weekend. We bought a replacement Monday at Sterling Appliances and the earliest they could deliver was Friday...four full days later. That is a long time when you are without a significant household appliance like a washing machine. I don't know if that means they have limited on-hand inventory or what. Friday finally arrived and at 4pm my wife starts calling because they missed the 12pm - 4pm scheduled delivery window without alerting us they would be late. They then indicated the "truck broke down". I suppose that is possible but I wish I had a dollar for every delivery or service truck that has broken down on its way to my house. So they arranged for an alternate crew, but what would have happened if my wife had not called? They didn't coordinate the 2nd crew until she did. Finally they arrived, installed the washer, and found it was defective and they have to put it back on the truck. What really was annoying at that point - they made zero effort to address the fact that we had already gone the better part of a week waiting on this machine. They don't deliver on Sunday...ok, I understand that. But they do deliver on Saturday and Monday but would not deliver to us on either of those two days. Instead the earliest they would deliver to us was Tuesday...another 4 day wait and 8 full days after we purchased the machine and they charged our card. They basically sent us to the back of the queue...that is terrible customer service. There was no effort at all to fit us in any sooner than what would have been the case had we gone into the store on Friday afternoon and purchased the washer at that time. The final straw happened on the Tuesday they came with the second washing machine. They hooked it up and said it was good to go and left. We just used it and they switched the water hookups. They hooked the hot water to the cold water intake and vice versa. Could this outfit possibly be any worse??? People say you need to support your local businesses. We thought so too. Unfortunately, I wound up wishing we had purchased from a major retailer that has the infrastructure behind them to fulfill reasonable and minimal expectations. Sterling Appliances did no do that for us.

Description of Work: Went to Sterling Appliance to purchase a dishwasher and an above range microwave. It was so easy and the sales staff was helpful and knowledgeable. They didn't try and up sell me on something I didn't want or need. The whole sales process took less than 30 minutes. We needed to have our cabinet move up to fit the microwave and they were able to provide the name of someone who could do that work for us. The work was done quickly and efficiently with very little hassle or inconvenience to us. I will definitely go back to them for other appliances. I will never go back to Lowes or Home Depot again for appliances. Great customer service.

Description of Work: I called Sterling Appliance at 9 a.m. and by 10:30 a.m. I had a technician at my door to fix my dryer. I had called another company last week to determine why the dryer would not turn on. They told me the issue and never called back with an estimate for the work. Their loss and my gain. The technician from Sterling Appliance was professional, curteous, and knew exactly what he was doing. He had my dryer working again by 12N. It was great to work with Dale from Sterling Appliance and I will call them again the next time I need help.

We spent several days comparing prices and models online until one of the contractors we were interviewing for our home remodel suggested Sterling Appliances in passing, in the context that several clients had bought there and seemed particularly happy. We drove out to Sterling and specifically described what was important to us: a well-made, high-performing gas range around which the rest of the appliances would be chosen to match. Mark, our sales representative (I'm wondering if he actually owns the place or is the manager) showed us the specific features that define each model in the GE line. He recommended GE based on his 38 years of selling appliances, their solid warranty, and most importantly (as compared to companies like LG) their ease of finding repair parts and companies that service the equipment. He did not try to oversell us at all, even recommending models that were progressively less expensive but which still met our desires. We wrote down the model numbers, prices and manufacturer rebates on 2 models each for the gas range, refrigerator, dishwasher and over-the-range microwave, went home and did a little more research. We found that the prices Mark quoted us were VERY competitive. We did find the range cheaper online, but the remaining 3 appliances were close enough in price that we decided to purchase them from Sterling Appliance. When we returned the next day, Mark had just stepped out, but one of the other sales representatives started writing up our ticket (after confirming the prices Mark had offered). Unfortunately, he said there was a problem with the price on the microwave - he couldn't figure out how Mark was able to offer us the price he quoted us, which was $230 lower than the contractor cost of the microwave. When Mark returned a few minutes later, he took over and completed the sale with the price he originally quoted us. I was curious, so I asked what the problem had been with the microwave. Mark told me that he had misquoted the price, but would "eat the difference". That was a $230 mistake that a big box store would NEVER have honored or accepted, but Mark treated it like an unstated matter of his own integrity. It was a tremendously DECENT, wonderful thing to do. I will send as many neighbors and friends their way based on just this one experience. (By the way, they delivered the appliances the next morning and were VERY careful getting everything inside).

I had called them for quotes and their quote was reasonable than the others. We had used them in the past and decided to use them again. The people who came to do the job were good, quick and knew what they were doing. They had installed other things previously in our house so they remembered our house. I am satisfied with their services and would recommend them to other people. They are professional and charge reasonable. They were late.

Overall the job went very smoothly. There were a couple of "bumps" in the process, but in each case they were extremely responsive and courteous. I will not hesitate to use them again for future needs.

Sterling Appliance is terrific - they may not be cheaper than the 'big box' stores, but they have a far better selection, can special order anything and know what they're selling. I bought a washer/dryer from them (stackable, which had to be ordered), they did a terrific job. Upon delivery, there was a little trouble in that they didn't bring the stackable kit, but that was quickly corrected. The dryer was missing a part (an accessory advertised, but not essential to function), but Chris Drews was terrific in finding the part and making sure it was delivered to my house. Part of the value of dealing with a smaller company is their ability to recover from these small issues that come up, and they did a beautiful job of it. I would use them again both for sales and service.

Dale arrived on time, was professional and efficient, and went beyond the normal service call by not only diagnosing the heater coil but testing and analyzing the air flow problem and shortening the hose and retesting the entire unit for temperature and airflow. And all for the stated service call charge and the fees for the new heater coil and its installation.
Description of Work: Dryer did not heat. Technician Dale diagnosed the problem (broken heater coil) within 5 minutes. He installed a new coil, tested the temperature and air flow, and corrected the crimped lint hose and reposition the unit so the hose would not recrimp.

We dealt with Chris, the owner. The sales visit went well. He spent a lot of time with us and answered our questions. We purchased the appliances and scheduled installation for all of them. Installers showed up more than two hours late and never called. They brought an almond fridge rather than the white we'd ordered. Had to argue to get them to bring the right fridge. Broke the dishwasher while installing, had to go back to the shop for parts. Found out they'd never pulled a permit for the gas work (illegal!) and when called, Chris refused to pull a permit. We pulled a permit ourselves (their contractor license was lapsed!). Installation failed inspection and Chris wanted us to wait several weeks while they got their license renewed. Paid a plumber to do it right. Went to sell, home inspector found that they'd installed a vented hood in a non-vented location. Had to get that replaced. Chris turned quite rude when things went sour and refused to refund installation.
Description of Work: We sold the house and replaced all the appliances- new dishwasher, fridge, gas stove, and range hood.
