Snell Heating & Air Conditioning

They didn't show up on the appointed day. I gave an overall D rather than an F because I used them once in the past without a problem.

After helping us with several small repairs, it became time to replace the entire system. We got quotes from 3 different contractors and Snell came in almost $1000 under the other quotes. The installation went without a hitch and included a one year service contract. They are my go to company when I have any heating or air conditioning issues.

Excellent service. The arrangement ahead of the visit were done well, with follow up and confirmation. The technician was on time and did a great job. I signed up for a service contract and will use them in the future.

I called Snell because they were at the top of Angie's List, and because the terrible screeching sound from my heater was driving me insane. We were just coming off of a holiday weekend, but they were still able to make it out the next day, which I found very encouraging. The guy who came out (Justin) was extremely professional and diagnosed the problem (correctly) as a broken motor. He told me that he'd order the motor that day and come out the following Monday to replace it. I was also told that I'd need to pay up front for the motor because it was a special order. I am not always a smart man, so I did this. The next couple of days I figured that they were ordering parts and that I'd call on Thursday to find out what was going on. When I did so, I got some confused responses from the people on the phone about where the part was, or if it was down in the warehouse, or if it had been ordered at all. Nobody really said much for certain about what was going on, but after a bunch of phone calls, they finally told me that they'd call me on the following Monday to schedule an appointment to finally get it installed. About three on Monday afternoon I finally broke down and gave them a call about what was going on. They told me that the part would be coming in on Tuesday and that they'd call me back then. About 10:30 on Tuesday I gave a call and they seemed not to know what was going on (somebody apparently had to "go down to the warehouse to check if the part was there." They said they'd call back, and I made it clear that I wanted a callback by 11:30. When they called at 12:15, it turned out that they did have the part, and could schedule somebody to come out the following day between two and six in the afternoon. I agreed, and all was well in the world. At 4:30 the next afternoon I got a call that things were moving along and that the tech would arrive shortly. And then at 5:30 I got a call that the tech wouldn't be by until after six. He made it at 6:15 and was able to finish up the job quickly and efficiently. He also seemed like a nice and capable technician (though I didn't get his name). The long and the short of it is this: The job got done (presumably right, since I don't hear the noise), though it only took 15 minutes of work to get it taken care of. Though I did purchase an extended service plan, I still don't think I will call them if I need service on my heater.

There was not a lot done but it was more of an inspection. A young technician came out to do the work and it took about 30 minutes to do everything. He was very polite. I do wish an older technician came out to look everything over since we have an older home.

It was fine. I think the guy was helpful. He gave me some additional tips and answered any questions that I had. He was really nice. I would recommend them.

Each time the technician was polite, prompt, and informative. He explained to me what he was doing and also gave me recommendations about replacing my unit in the future. He was not pushy and did not try to oversell me on anything. I appreciated his honesty and the work was done to my satisfaction. Will use them again.

The company was very customer oriented. They accommodated my schedule for the service call. When I contacted them to cancel the service (due to no fault of their own) they were very accommodating and customer oriented.

The technician checked to make sure we were getting gas to our furnace. I then informed him that my husband discovered a broken "hot surgace ignitor" inside the door of the furnace which the technician then noticed. Our heater went out the day before so we did some research on the cost of this part before he arrived...approximately $14. The technician informed me it would cost $287 for the part and another $99 for installation. After informing him of my research and asking him to lower his price, the technician just shrugged his shoulders and stated he couldn't change the price. I advised that we use Angie's List and that we have another appointment with Pope's Air later in the day. The technician stated that we still owed the $99 for his "consultation"...AKA me telling him about the broken part. I was really expecting better service based on all of the other reviews. On top of this outrageous charge, the technician was unprofessional. When I opened the door to greet him, he simply stepped inside without saying a word to me. And after the "consultation", he asked to use my cell phone because his wasn't getting service and he needed to call in my $99 credit card charge...for doing absolutely nothing.

Snell is great. Had a slight issue with Furnace, but they came out right away. Possibly issues because of a power outage, not anything to do with a furnace. They installed by Nest Dial in minutes and it works great

Did work on time, when needed. Furnace works well. Still waiting for follow-on paperwork re. guarantee, etc.

Professional, fast, courteous. Seemed knowledgeable too.

Technician said there may be leaks but he couldn't find any. I could try filling with coolant (for about $400) to see it that works. I did so and for now it is working.

The technican who came out, Rick, did a thorough inspection of my HVAC system and fixed a problem with the condenser drain. He explained how I could fix several other minor issues, as well as how different kinds of filters would affect the system's functioning. I was very impressed with his knowledge and with his patience in answering questions, and would definitely use the company in the future and recommend them to friends.

It went good. They were very helpful, curtious, and on time. They didn't try to sell me anything.

I called on Sunday 12/1/2013 explaining that my upstairs was too hot and my downstairs too cold. They made an appointment for Tuesday 12/3/2013 between 12:00 and 4:00 pm. They said that the tech would call when he was on his way (30 minutes notice). They called at 3:15 to notify me that the tech would arrive outside of the window (4:30 or later). I asked to reschedule. They gave me the 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday 12/4/2013. I requested to be put as the last stop on the tech's route. They called at 12:15 to notify me that the tech would arrive at 1:00 pm "sharp". The tech arrived at 1:15 pm The tech put on shoe covers. The tech gave a brief inspection of the thermostat control. We then proceeded downstairs to the furnace. He found the dampers (high & out of my line of vision). Changed them to Winter - explained what parts of the house each vent controlled, and how the dampers should be set. I thanked him. He reminded me that I had paid for a furnace tune up. He inspected the unit (turned it off and removed upper & lower coverings). He said that for a 10 year old unit, it was in good condition. He noted that the filter should be replaced - I had the new one at the ready. He replaced that - making sure to write the dimensions on the bill of lading. He then informed me that if anything [standard] went wrong with the furnace in the next 30 days - they'd come out and fix it at no cost. The technician ( Rick Otto), who provided the service, was extremely professional, knowledgeable and courteous. He was able to address and answer any questions I had. The performance of my heating system has clearly improved and I'm very satisfied with the service I have received. I will use this company, and especially this technician, whenever the need arises in the future.

This job was actually performed in two parts. On 10/16/2013, I was provided with a furnace check for which I used a coupon I found on Angie's List. The technician came within the prescribed window, was thorough and answered all my furnace related questions. He gave me some advise about temp control and setting my thermostat. Based on questions I had with regard to my furnace and the ducts in the basement, I asked him to provide an estimate for some additional duct work. I had an open duct hanging in the ceiling from which air was flowing, but it needed to rehung properly and a vent installed. In another part of the basement without a vent, but needing one, I needed an additional vent installed in the existing duct work. I was provided with an estimate and the work was scheduled for 10/18/2013. There was some confusion with regard to the time window, but although late they were great when they arrived. The front office apologized profusely. The technician I had on Wednesday was not part of the Friday crew. The two men on Friday also did a great job and provided some great information with regard to air flow through a particular section of the duct leading upstairs. They did not attempt to push any work on me. I'll be monitoring the comfort level in the home overall and will further discuss later, if we're uncomfortable. So far so good. I have to say that we're more comfortable overall both in the main house and the basement. I'm very satisfied and would recommend Snell. I plan to have them again in the Spring for an air conditioning check.

There was no emergency or urgency when we called Snell. We need preventive maintenance on our two hvac units twice a year. We were on contract with another large firm (Dynatemp) that went bankrupt so we wanted to use a company that could be a long term replacement. Snell's website was excellent and the office staff cheerful. We made an appointment and felt quite sure everything would go smoothly. It did not. Several hours into the appointment window the office notified us that the service man would be late. After the outside time limit passed they called again and cancelled completely. Even though we were annoyed we made another appointment for more than a week later. This time everything did go well. A prompt service man put on shoe covers and listened patiently to our explanation of what was needed. He checked everything, changed the filters using the ultra allergen ones we had bought, and even showed my husband how he did that. He was very pleasant, well spoken and clear. After he completed the service, he gave his assessment of the condition of the units and explained the details of a service contract. We were very satisfied and did sign up for an ongoing maintenance contract with Snell.

Overall I had a great experience with Snell. I can't really speak on the pricing because they were my first and only choice based on their reviews on Angie's List. However, the service was fantastic. The schedulers were very nice and would contact you with the ETA of the technician. The technician who diagnosed my problem was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was also patient answering all my questions and he went the extra mile to help me with my filter slot. Once our part came in they immediately put us on the schedule, same day.

The technician did a great job. I called the company on a Sunday, and a live person actually answered. Within a few hours a technician arrived, diagnosed the problem, and provided a short term fix while parts were being ordered. The very next day (Monday), once the parts were available, an appointment was schedule and the technician completed the fix. He was very professional, friendly, and more than willing to answer my questions. It should also be noted that prior to calling Snell I had called another "well known" company in the area. They came for the usual diagnostic visit, and let's just say the experience was not nearly as positive.

Very professional and punctual. They took their time to make sure things were done properly the first time and delivered the job as promised.

After the first visit they offered us their annual pricing package. That's 4 visits a year and a discount on parts and labor if any sort of unplanned visits are required. We call them and it's been typically hot or cold and there are lot of people calling in. They get to us pretty quickly. In fact when we said we would like to schedule a service visit, a planned tune up and check up, we even got priority booking for that so it's all good. We haven't had emergency visits. The tune ups are keeping the system working. I don't have any service calls due to an outage due to the heat or A/C going out. That's for people who don't spend money maintaining their system. I have places that literally would find it to be dirty and even if I had to replace the filter there, that wasn't included. The guy saw the filter sitting next to the heat pump when he went back there to check it out and he pulled it out and replaced it for us at not charge. Now our HVAC system looks great.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It turned out great. They've been our regular service maintenance HVAC ever since. They didn't charge us any more than the Big Deal. If you heard their commercials, they talk about "We're the good guys from Snell" or something like that and I really took that impression away. I thought that they didn't just talk and walk. These guys knew their stuff. I know HVAC system a bit and they didn't try talking down to me or try to dazzle me with mumbo-jumbo. They were very thorough to the point and said what was good and said that was all fine and didn't need any help and pointed out the thing they had done wrong and told me what the options were. It was a great first impression. I knew that if they could maintain that level of performance then we had made the right move going to these guys because the HVAC companies around here I've used in the past didn't impress me.

They just came over and did the service. It went well.
