Snell Heating & Air Conditioning

Snell did a good job for two issues we had with our air conditioning system. There was water leakage around the a/c unit due to blockage in the drain pipe which they were able to clear. Also, the upstairs unit was not blowing any air, so they replaced a fan motor in the intake unit outside. They came out in a couple of days after we called and completed the job in a few hours. I would call Snell again for my heating and cooling needs.

It was good. The scheduling was easy. They got the job done within an hour.

My system was functioning but was not keeping the downstairs and upstairs reasonably close for temperature. Kevin did the initial analysis. He was thorough and reviewed the entire system to include going into the crawl space. He eventually recommended adding a damper to the duct work to divert more air flow to the upstairs as well as putting in a new furnace. He felt the outside air conditioning unit was working well and did not require replacement. I appreciated his honesty and skills used to correct my system. I am an electrical contractor / builder so I have some knowledge in these areas. The installers came on time and did an excellent job. They were neat and stayed late to finish it in one visit. As a contractor myself, I very much appreciated the office staff. If not mistaken on names, I was helped by Joseph, Kim, and Michael. They were very professional, friendly, and customer service was their top priority. That is unfortunately rarer today than ever but so critical to the success of a business. As large as the company is, they have a great team so someone at the top is doing an excellent job of hiring quality people for the positions required.

Fine. He cleaned (looked like took a powerful vacuum to the furnace. Was done pretty quickly (15 minutes?).

Took a comprehensive look at my three different units. Technician was knowledgable about my systems. Provided helpful hints to keep systems working well. Third time having them provide this service. I like the fact that the technician did not push me to add equipment, etc to my system that was not necessary.

We called Snell for an estimate as a second opinion since we were quoted an extremely high cost for repair and the other company stated it would be in our benefit to replace our system. Within three hours, Kevin was at our home. He assessed the problem and repaired it on the spot saving us hundreds of dollars! He was polite and courteous. We just want to say thank you to Kevin and Snell for saving us hundreds in unnecessary repairs.

I was not at home but they worked quickly and we were satisfied.

We had a cold spell in the DC area and I thought we'd stay nice and cozy in our house beacause we had hot water boiler heat and no heat pump, I was wrong. Our pilot light went out on Burnham gas boiler and despite numerous attempts to restart it, it would not stay lit. We called them on Sunday night and even with the short notice they said they would be out Monday morning 8AM. Sure enough, they were there bright and early. The technician realized it was the bad pilot light so he quickly replaced it a brand new thermocouple and got the beast firing again. Was so nice they were able to got out the next day, I'm sure there were hundreds of people without heat.

I chose them based on the Angie’s List’ recommendation. I was very happy with them and they were highly recommended. The actual bid that they came up with a little higher than others but when I told them about it, they dropped the price and matched it to a little better price. They did a very nice and professional job. The installation was done beautifully and was clean. The guy that came out was Fred and he did a very nice job and I would definitely use them again.

The service was good. We were pleased with the service provider. My wife called them and we scheduled an appointment. We have their number for when service is needed.

My heat pump system was having zero problems heating or cooling. But, the service tech told me my refrigerant was high and that I should remove some, so that's what I had done. After that service was performed, it seemed like my heat pump simply wasn't working as well as it used to, but I wasn't sure. I was also having some problems with my Nest thermostat during this time, and I ended up switching back to a simply Honeywell thermostat. About a month after having the refrigerant removed, however, the heat pump just continued to seem like it wasn't working very well. So, I called Snell to come out again and check things out. Another service tech came out, checked things out, and said everything seemed to be working fine. So, our rather harsh winter just passed. My electricity bill was over $300 every month. I figured this was primarily on account of the harsh winter we just had, so I just paid the bills and moved on. Then, this past weekend, with the warmth, I needed to use the heat pump cooling mode. Turned it on last night and set the thermostat to 70 degrees. House temperature was 78 degrees. In the past, our heat pump would have taken no more than an hour or two to get the temperature down to 70. When I woke up in the morning, the house had only cooled to 72 degrees. I knew something was wrong. Instead of calling Snell, I decided to call someone else. I figured it was time to get someone else to look at it. And, surprise, surprise, my heat pump needed refrigerant added to it. The pressure was low and this caused the heat pump to freeze up. The new company told me that the only real time you should check pressure on a heat pump is in the spring when you are doing the cooling mode check up. Apparently, the pressure readings in heating mode on heat pumps are simply not accurate enough to gauge whether the system is properly charged. But, that's exactly what Snell did. They took a pressure reading in heating mode and recommended that I remove refrigerant. The new company also told me it is likely that my utility bills were higher than they should have been on account of removing the refrigerant. It is also possible that running low on refrigerant caused long term damage to my heat pump - only time will tell. So, I will not be using Snell again for HVAC needs. After two service contract visits ($135), removal of refrigerant (around $300), three months of $300+ electricity bills, having to have another HVAC company add back in the refrigerant they removed ($250), and possible long term damage to my heat pump, Snell has simply cost me enough. Maybe Snell is good at servicing some HVAC systems - when it comes to heat pumps, their techs don't seem to know what they're doing.

I bought this deal as a gift for my son and was there when the technician came to provide the service. The service technician was punctual, courteous, professional, knew what he was doing and gave an honest and informative assessment of the condition of a very old furnace. He checked it out and gave it a good cleaning (burners, etc.). It is still in working condition; however, the technician gave good advice on its condition and the fact that it may need to be replaced soon. I appreciated that there was no high pressure selling on his part. at all. I have had dealings with other HVAC companies that do try hard to sell a new product. I believe Snell is a company of integrity and I would hire them again and recommend them to others.

Work was done but then I was quoted an outrageous price for a part replacement I didnt really need. Otherwise it was fine.

Company called me several times to provide an update on when the service provider would arrive. Very pleasant administrations of request and follow-up. Vince put on booties when he came into the house.

I would give them A all the way through.

I thought I was getting a fireplace service, but it didn't work after they left, and I had to call somebody else months later. They advertize ''The Stand Up Guys, and they will make you happy'', I couldn't be much less happy. I would never use them again. They installed the gas fireplace, and I needed to call them for a minor repair, and they charged me, when I didn't think they should have. They came to service it and it didn't work when they left. I am not convinced they are a legitimate business, I hear their advertisements on radio. I called the owner and he never called me back. I would not recommend them to my enemies. I have been unhappy with them twice. They showed up, but I don't know how good that is when the service is not satisfactory. I found somebody that charged less, and did good work.

They came in to do the air conditioning check. The service went well. They did the work quickly.

Called today and they said they had someone available later in the day. As it turned out, they called and said someone was no available in 30 minutes if that would work (which was great). They came and quickly identified the issue and fixed it. I have heat again which is what I wanted.

I have found the company to be flexible and responsive to my needs. They are quick to turn estimates and flexible with the equipment manufacturer. There prices and committment to a quality job is what won me over. I intend to use them for the replacement of my air conditioners.

I used a Big Deal, but they called me back to remind me that I'd had a year-long maintenance plan the year before and, without pressure, asked if I wanted to only use the Deal or also have the year-long plan. I appreciated the reminder. When they needed to postpone due to weather, they called early the day before and were very easy to reschedule. The gentleman performing the work found water in the furnace and gave us an honest assessment of what it was and what our timeframe was to fix it. He kept his booties on in the house so as not to track in the mud. Very happy with Snell!

Their tech (David) was courteous and professional. If we need HVAC service in the future, we would definitely consider Snell.

First appointment they ran late but it was due to emergency situations during the extremely cold weather; second appointment was on time.

They were very good about coming out they checked out heater. He told us we needed a new motor and it would cost $1000. I have a friend who had a family member that does that kind of work and we have a it found out that the part only cost $50 and we got the work done for just $150. We canceled with Snell and they they never asked us why.
