Snell Heating & Air Conditioning

The instillation team arrived on time and performed an outstanding job of replacing two air conditioning and heating systems. The team (John, Travis, Carlos, Tony and Tim) were very professional and knowledgeable and efficient. They placed tarps on the floor and cleaned everything before they left. They also removed the old units. I was very impressed with their work and can highly recommend them to anyone looking for service on home heating and air conditioning systems.

They were able to fix the the problem we were having with our thermostat constantly shutting off and restarting again right after.

It was a while back. I had a leak and it turned out it was the unit was old and it needed service which wasn't done so the technician just came over and looked at it and there was nothing much he could do while I had already tried taking care of that but I just wanted to check with a professional. So there was no work done. I don't remember when he came out but he was on time. I think whatever we scheduled he was there within a day of that. There were no additional fees. It wasn't even worth $60. I had already taken care of it with that and he told me that it had already used the excuse that it was old and from time to time you just have to clean this little part. Interaction was just average. Nothing particular stuck out to me about this job. The cost should already have been adjusted since I had already paid for it so there is just the fact that somebody came maybe it costs that much but I don't think it was worth that much amount. In terms of expenses, it wasn't worth it. If you would have asked me at that time I wasn't satisfied, he said you already took care of it and I asked him if he would check some more and see you know, and he says oh no and your unit is old and it wasn't worth $60 if that was all he was required to do. So it was just price that needed to be cleared up so if that is the case I don't need to have service, I would never call again for regular service of the unit. I thought that he would open up the unit and clean up some more but the coils were rusty and I asked him if you do anything with it and he said no we don't it's just old, that's how it gets after a few years.

We have been using Snell for years on biannual maintenance and repairs. Our heat pump was 10 years old and in the gray zone of repair or replace when a more expensive repair was needed. After researching the repair and the quotes on replacement, I decided to replace with Snell. Their price was great and included a lot. They replaced air handler in the attic and condenser outside with newer more efficient options. Also included a year maintenance and Wi-Fi thermostat. They gave plenty of options for the replacement from high-end to low-end. There was no sales pressure. The install was handled professionally and lasted about 6-7 hours. Have recommended them in the past to neighbors and will continue to use them.

I used Snell in the past for a radiator valve replacement and was quite pleased with them so I contacted them again regarding another issue. I had an aging boiler in my house that we've been limping along with for years. Called Snell due to intermittent issues with it not turning on. John quickly came out and took a look and diagnosed the root cause however he also indicated that due to the age of our boiler (over 40 years) it was reaching the end of it's lifespan and was beginning to vent carbon monoxide. Additionally, he identified similar issues with our aging hot water heater and potential dangers of how the venting was installed. Decided to go ahead and replace both the boiler and water heater and have them properly install venting. I didn't do any price comparisons as I was roughly familiar with the cost and had received a fair price from them before on a prior job. On the day of the install, I had at least 6 guys in my house by 8:00AM. All were very professional and courteous. They put down drop cloths the length of the house from the front door to the work site. All wore protective foot booties to minimize dirt. They had a really long day with the install due to the existing pipe configuration but did an amazing job in the end. The guys remained upbeat and pleasant despite being on the job for over 11 hours. Upon leaving, John was anxious to explain the new system, features, and benefits. They cleaned everything before they left and moved furniture back that was moved when material was being brought in. I don't often write reviews but feel compelled to based on the level of service I received from Snell. These guys are the Nordstrom of heating and air with their attention to quality and amazing customer service from start to end. I've never experienced service even close to this level within the heating and air industry.

Overall everything went fine. The employee who gave the initial diagnosis and estimate was excellent, walking me through the problems and offering several solutions at different price points. Only two problems arose. First, I ordered an optional whole-house humidifier, which they charged me for at the time of the order. A day or two later, when I called to schedule the installation of the new filtration system and humidifier, I told them that I changed my mind about the humidifier. They said no problem and they would amend the order. I spoke with them again to confirm the removal of that item from the order, and they assured me it was removed. Unfortunately, they nonetheless installed the humidifier. When I discovered this and told them, they removed it and ultimately refunded the cost to me. So it worked out OK, just a little bit of a logistical hassle. The second problem was they removed the door to the heating unit and left it laying against the wall, telling my wife that we would need to re-install it ourselves so that it opened in the opposite direction because the new air filtration system would not allow the door to close as-is. This, too, was a bit of a hassle. I still have not gotten around to re-installing the door. It would have been nice if they would have done it in the interest of "full service." Overall, however, they were good at their job and I'm happy with the new equipment and the price.

Install Freon in A/C Also gave me an estimate for HVAC replacement. Another company came in lower. But I would use Snell again. They were likeabe and efficient.

Provider determined he was not authorized to work on the type of HVAC system in my home.

Easy to schedule same-day service and tech arrived within the window of time as scheduled. He was able to correctly diagnose the issue as a failed thermostat. He quoted me $412 to replace the thermostat. This is in addition to the $59 service call fee I had already paid. I thought the service call fee was very reasonable, but $412 to swap out a thermostat strikes me as way, way over priced. A basic digital, programmable thermostat runs between $25-50 and takes 15-30 minutes to replace. If you do it for a living I would guess you could do it in even less time. Obviously I did not hire them to do the work of replacing the thermostat. I did it myself that evening, saving roughly $375. It took me less than 15 minutes to do the job (not including the trip to Home Depot to get the part) and only required a screwdriver. In summary, I'm not dissatisfied with the service I received, but wanted to note that the pricing on the actual repairs was ridiculous. It's also worth noting that the house where the service call took place is a rental, which I've noticed sometimes results in this kind of over-charging. Also the house is located in Arlington, which also seems to elicit sky-high quotes. Caveat emptor.

Our heat pump was unable to maintain the temperature setting on the thermostat. The technician checked the system thoroughly and correctly diagnosed the problem. A new auxiliary heat package and thermostat were ordered and installed for the 20+ year old system. The problem was corrected within five days of the initial Angies List diagnostic order. The only reason the ratings are not straight 5s is that the thermostat was overprised given equivalent pricing at Home Depot.

Zach was extremely professional -- polite, responsive, and proficient.

He claimed that the furnace was in poor condition with excessive rust. He provide penciled offer to replace system on scratch paper of $6100.00. I asked him to provide a detailed written estimate via email. No reply. My perspective is that the furnace could last 2 or more years longer. I got estimates and negotiated for several weeks...true price for furnace, humidifier, media cabinet and more -- $4000.00! Don't call a HVAC company WHEN it fails...call them BEFORE it fails so you can negotiate. I found 2 other salesman much more honest than Ben.

They've been great. My parents use them as well. I didn't have to pay anything more.

Good service with professional and polite technicians. They are happy to discuss with you the status of your systems and provide advice as necessary which I found great and the main reason to stay with this company instead of switching to a cheaper one.

It went okay. They would have liked for me to purchase their equipment. It was average. Their price was about normal for this area. They were punctual. They should have less arrogance, less salesmanship and do the job that they were hired for. They were arrogant and I'm not really into marketing.

Very professional and through diagnostic. After looking at equipment, I was asked a lot of good questions a technician from another company didn't even ask. In fact, the tech determined my evaporator was under warranty and saved me almost $2k. I was also provided with a wide range of options on replacing the heat pump - all of them good. I'm glad I called these guys. The quote was probably about 10% more expensive than other quotes, but I got a better quality heat pump, better warranty, and a they saved me $2k by determining some of my equipment was still under warranty.

The gentlemen was extremely knowledgeable i.e. he not only know what he was doing but was also helpful in explaining setup of the heating system to me. Being a new homeowner that was very helpful. The offer was for one heating system tuneup so he explained to me before starting the work what he is not covered. Very professional and definitely worth recommending.

Heat pump was acting funny - shaking and making loud banging noises. Snell came out and looked it over as well as the 2nd unit and discovered they both needed servicing. He was prompt, professional, and courteous. Offered additional services with explanations if I was interested. I declined and didn't feel pressured to do the additional work. No hard sales at all - just informative.

They were the absolute best. They were very professional from coming to our house to give us a quote to installing the new furnace in our house. My family had to stay in a hotel for a week while the new furnace was ordered and installed. After the week was over and the new furnace was installed, we walked back into our house without having to do anything. They cleaned up great after completing the project. Highly recommend.
