I was looking to replace a working, but not entirely satisfactorily, A/C and gas furnace. I asked some neighbors, and the recommended companies worked bankers’ hours or didn’t service my area, so I went to Angie’s List. Snell had the highest rating, so I called them and asked for a proposal. David Snell came out, after my working hours (very helpful), and looked over my existing system and a register that I wanted to move. He seemed very knowledgeable, was low-pressure, and made me feel at ease. I told him I was going to ask for at least one more quote, and I did. The next company quoted me a similar system, although a different brand (Carrier versus Lennox for Snell) that was $1,450 less. To be fair, I know that there’s a higher cost for Lennox products (not sure why) and Carrier had an incentive that further brought down their cost $750. I called David and asked if he could revise his quote, and he tried to get within reason. There is also a better warranty with the Lennox product, 5 years in labor with Snell upping that to 10 years with a service agreement. In the end, I went with the other company based on cost, although it bears mentioning I also had a similar experience with them in the proposal process and they are almost equally rated on Angie’s list. The experience with David was good, and I’d consider using Snell in the future, if we could come to terms on cost.

They replaced a broken capacitor costing me $200, while other companies wanted to charge $2000 to replace the entire compressor. They are on- time, honest and a pleasure to work with. Would highly recommend.

The initial scheduling, due to a lack of communication within their company, was difficult. I was very irate that someone had to be in the house to allow them in, when I'd initially given them permission to enter as I was making the appointment. I waited for the technician, and I would have waited even longer had I not contacted the service provider. They were not able to pull me up in the system. Finally, there were some calls that were made between supervisors and owners. It was extremely difficult to find someone to be able to open the house and be there for the service. We eventually had a family member drive over 30 minutes to be able to be present for the service...She waited three and a half hours for the technician to show up! Fortunately, this was not a major repair that was needed. It turned out that the company who cleaned the house switched the main switch off. They didn't charge me for the service call, but I was very irate because of the situation. They were very apologetic.

My tech, Gary Alvarado-Revollo couldn't have been more professional. He is a wonderful representative for the company! Gary mentioned that Snell is a very honest company, and only sells clients what is needed...I will absolutely be calling them again. He spoke very highly of the company. Very nice guy. Service was done thoroughly, but expeditiously. Thank you, Snell!

Purchased the yearly maintenance program for both of my HVAC systems as well as humidifiers. Great service! White glove treatment. Carl, the service technician, was excellent and answered all of my questions. Very professional. Snell's customer service is fantastic. Will definitely use them again and would highly recommend Snell for all HVAC services.

The day I bought the deal is the same day they came out.

Although I have never signed up for regular A/C and furnace maintenance, I was convinced by a friend that it's worth the annual fee. I called around to several companies - including the one that installed our A/C several years ago - to get estimates for an annual contract. I also read some blogs online about what to look for with the contracts. The customer service representative at Snell was by far the easiest to work with - he could actually explain what came with the maintenance contract and emailed all of the written materials to me promptly. Also, the price was right - the annual contract for both the A/C and furnace tune-up was $145. This is compared to the $300 quoted to me by our A/C installers and was in-line with what other companies had quoted me. Once I agreed to the contract, Snell immediately scheduled our A/C tune-up for the next day and their technician was right on time. He performed a full check of our A/C and actually did some maintenance on it - like clean the coil and reattach the blower hose which had become detached. (Not knowing anything about this, I read online that you should make sure the technician is actually doing some maintenance, not just inspecting your unit.) The Snell technician was at our house for an extended period doing the work. I'm optimistic that this will extend the life of our A/C (we'll see!). So far, Snell has exceeded my expectations!

I have used the same company for the last several years. It is a regular furnace in one zone and then there is a heat pump upstairs. I have no complaints with Snell. I think they charge $79 a unit or something. They keep me as a customer because of the fact that they make an appointment and come out. They seem to be a very honest type. They tell me everything is working fine and I don't need to do anything. I don't think anybody is perfect. After they leave, they are right; it all seems to be working. They give you a time frame; they say they will be here at specific times and they are. Their professionalism is fine.

It was good. It didn't cost more than the deal. It was a good price. I thought they should wait for me to come but they finished the job before I got there. It was fine. I got delayed for 10 minutes so they were finished by the time I got there. The workers were good. They left the area fine.

The service was alright. They were charging me more than what I would want to pay for a new system so I went with a different company for the new unit. I suspected that I needed a new unit and they came out and confirmed it. The compressor was gone. The only thing I did not like was the price for the new one.

Carl, the technician arrived on time, went about his business in a efficient and professional manner. He knew was very knowledgable and answered all my questions. He completed the tune-ups, checked all the thermostates, and wrapped up the job in an efficient manner.

Kevin with Snell arrived and immediately dug into the problem of our AC not working. A different vendor had installed a new blower and fan the previous month and with temperatures reaching 90 degrees in Virginia the AC simply wasn't working right. Kevin identified that the blower was installed backwards and the AC power wasn't even on. That leads me to wonder what the AC tech from the week before who was here for THREE hours was doing. Even though this was a diagnostics call, Kevin swapped out the blower, fixed it and handled diagnosing the AC unit outside on the deck. We were thrilled with his honesty, speed and no nonsense approach. It was nice to work with a company that didn't nickel and dime us. As the renters of the property, the old AC company that has the relationship with the owners was out here 4 times and tomorrow would make 5 without fixing the problem. I can't even imagine what that bill is. Is the number of visits with technicians that don't even know when the AC unit is turned on, they could have bought a new AC unit. The value of the flat fee diagnostic call that Snell offers no matter how long, makes you feel reassured knowing you don't have to worry about being charged every 15 minutes for someone who doesn't know what they are doing.

I've used Snell before and I have to say their customer service is top notch! The technicians are always very thorough and take the time to explain the issues and what needs to be repaired. My tenants were complaining the air conditioning wasn't working and Snell was able to schedule a time with them to come by to fix the issue. Thank you Snell!

Carl was the technician. He was efficient and did a thorough servicing of the heat/ac unit. He was polite. He knew his stuff. Thanks for the excellent service.

I don’t think I was very impressed with them. I don’t remember them being particularly late coming. I think I found the person a little bit unpleasant on the work kind of a tap ass. He just spent the whole time trying to talk me into getting a new furnace and doing all of what he was telling me.

He was terrific. Definitely would use him again. We have used Snell's services many times and have never had the need to complain!!

First off, the install crew did a great job. Arrived on time, laid down pads to protect the carpet. It was an all day install and the crew was very respectful the entire time. I believe they arrived around 8:30am and left around 3pm. Cleaned up well and the A/C works great. The only problem was - they didn't install filters for the new A/C. You would think for $5800, they could include the filters. My wife called and asked the woman who answered at Snell if they could run filters out to the house and install - the short answer "no". So I had to drive out to Home Depot, get the filters, go up into the attic and install the filters. If not for the filter issue - I would have given them an "A".

Turned out to be a bad cable in the wall. The servicer was very polite and knowledegable.

We had a very old heat pump that stopped working in the midst of a heat wave. We hoped to make said heat pump last another season or two as we were planning an addition to our house and wanted to wait to replace the unit with an appropriately larger one when the time came. Snell figured out the issue and replaced the part and had the AC back very quickly. They understood our situation about waiting and were great about making the fix without pushing to sell us a new unit. We will call Snell back when we are ready to replace the unit, they were professional, quick and we would highly recommend them to friends!

good, he appeared to know what he was talking about and said the unit would last me through the winter, but would need to be replaced since the bottom parts had rotted out.

Had new light fixtures put in the dining room, it looks beautiful. Also I had recess lighting put in the kitchen and it really brighten up the area. Kitchen sink door panel needed to be reinforced so that it closes properly, along with the hand rail near the upstairs needed to be reinforced. They were prompt and professional and I will definitely use them again.
