Their work was fine. They cleaned up and we had no issues other than the confusion over the coupon with the camera inspection that didn't happen.

He promptly made contact, came to my house on time, was careful to keep everything neat and clean.

They Fixed the fireplace and did it below the cost of the estimate, it wasn't a functioning fireplace but now it is. They were clean up after themselves. Would recommend them again

Service provider was punctual and courteous. He provided a barrier so that soot would not get into our carpet/furniture. He examined the fireplace and chimney & did not attempt to sell us on more services which occurred when another company came out to clean the chimney. We were very satisfied with Potomac Services.

He did a professional job and was very pleasant. He also made sure no chimney dust got on the carpet or outside of the machine. He did recommend a fairly expensive liner for my chimney, but that's his job.

After purchasing our home, we immediately wanted to get the chimney for the basement fireplace cleaned. We hired Potomac Services, the technician came out, said we needed to do a video inspection, and scheduled an appointment for that. He performed the inspection, and it showed that our entire chimney needed to be replaced, as there was a huge hole at the main level, which he said would mean that the chimney would vent at the main level, instead of exiting the house. We were advised to get a second opinion, which we did, and the second opinion said there was absolutly nothing wrong with our chimney, they said it wasn't even dirty enough to warrant a cleaning. That was 4 years ago, we've had 4 years of fires in the fireplace, and never had any smoke exit on the main level. I filed a complaint to the BBB, and we were refunded the video inspection.

I called 2 weeks in advance and scheduled our appointment for 9:30AM. I am an early riser and wanted to have time to get other things finished before winter and finish cleaning the storm damage outside. I had to cancel most of the plans we had for the weekend when the technician showed up 3 hours late. He did call - 2 hours after he was supposed to be there. If I had known that he was going to be late, we would have gotten some of our other errands taken care of so that our other home-improvement projects didn't need to be put on hold. The technician was pleasant enough and explained the repairs we needs clearly. However the rest of our weekend was ruined and the projects we need to take care of before winter were needlessly put on hold. I thought we only needed one cap but the technician explained that there are 2 needed. I can't verify that the cap was installed on the side that is leaking until the next storm in a week. I understood the need for 2 caps. However the fact that he can "discount" the fees as much as he claimed to gives me cause for concern. Before I hire this company I will be getting a second quote and opinion on the work.

Inspected chimney. Took still photo which showed a space that allowed smoke to penetrate between wall and chimney. This can be dangerous. I was given a proposal for work to repair and rebuild firebox and install a top mounted damper cap or standard cap. Also would do "camara" once done, referring to the video that was promised in the original Groupon offer. Reason for not using it at time of inspection was there was not enough space for video camera, didn't quite understand this part. Felt that the cost of repair was too high to use this company again, although there was quite a range between the lowest and highest price depending on the kind of cap I wanted.

I purchased a discount deal through Angie's List for a chimney sweep for $90. Potomac Services showed up on time and did a very good job. There was very little dust from their work, whereas with previous chimney sweeps I have ended up with black soot on my floor, tables, etc. They were professional and courteous. I would definitely use them again.

Showed up on time, very professional, clean and personable. Did a such a good job cleaning my chimney, I hired them to clean my dryer vents.

Awful Awful Awful company. The service guy (Jason) was in a rush, he only did half the job, and it was overpriced. When I called the company to come back out and do it correctly, they wanted to charge me again. In their words, he ?wasn?t going to eat the money.? I ended up having to find another company. You can not trust this company!

Potomac Services arrived on time. The call took a total of one hour. Being concerned with chimney dust as I was, I was impressed they automatically spread out a large drop cloth to capture as much dirt as possible, then swept up afterwards. The lead service person was very knowledgable in terms of chimney maintenance and structure. He was very enthusiastic and interested in the work he does. This alone was very impressive. He was schooled and recently certified in his field and obviously very proud of this accomplishment as was I with him. His assistant was in training and listened, and did much of the truck runs for tools and such. An all around very impressive and positive approach to the process. As the customer, Potomac Services left a very good impression. I am considering having the flu lined and will definitely call them for an estimate.

We were very pleased with them. I told the gentleman that was here that were were very pleased with his service. He seemed really concerned with quality of service that he was providing. So that was really good. They showed us a video of the inside of the chimney. I though it was and interesting adjunct to the services that they provide. I have never seen that before and it has always been something that I have been curious about. What is actually looks like up in there when something is wrong. He told us what it would cost to replace the liner and we just deferred because of the cost. We figured we are not going to need it because we are going into spring. We are going to wait until we are going to want to use the fireplace again. I have no frame of reference on his pricing. Four thousand dollars to replace it seemed expensive to me, but I really couldn't say. I couldn't find any flaws in him. He was wonderful.

Jason has cleaned the chimney for the past two years and Casey did the job this year. Casey arrived as scheduled, performed the cleaning and explained that all is well. I have been using Lindemann Anti Creo Soot spray for the past few years and it has made the chimney easy to clean and has prevented any build-up of creosote glaze. I spray a small amount on the logs after I have added them to the fire. As for the cleaning, I have been completely satisfied with Potomac Services for three years.

Potomac Services did have to reschedule my work due to the illness of an employee. However, Potomac Services was very good about notifing me and selecting another date that fit my schedule. When the technican arrived, however, he discovered tha the type of wood stove that I have prevented him from the doing the services called for in the Angie's list coupon. Potomac Services said that I could notify you and I would get a refund of the $135.00 I paid for the coupon.

The chimney sweep went well and I was happy with the work. I was also pleased that he took the time to explain the situation with my damaged lining. However, it's been more than a month and I still have not received a quote for the new chimney lining. I have called twice and received assurances that I would be contacted right away with an estimate. While I liked the work they did onsite, I'm not inclined to chase after a company to give them my business.

They were overall great and I will use them again in the future.

I purchased an AL Big Deal for $135 for a chimney sweep and high def video inspection. I contacted the company by email twice, then by phone and they finally returned my call after three weeks of my initial contact. When he arrived, the service tech was very polite, professional and apparently did an excellent job cleaning the chimney. Upon completing the cleaning, he told us that we had a case of "stage 3 creosote build-up" and he stressed repeatedly and very strongly that we shouldn't use the chimney, and that we'd need an expensive ($600) chemical treatment to remove the "tar-like creosote." I was suspicious. I called a few other places nearby to get their thoughts on "stage 3 build-up". Nobody had even heard of it. I contacted PHOENIX CHIMNEY & VENTING SPECIALISTS LLC. Charlie from Phoenix inspected the chimney, which he said had been cleaned very well and could see only tile. The "stage 3" thing didn't exist. So, while Potomac Services cleaned the chimney well, it seems they were trying to push unnecessary additional services. That really annoys me. And their initial delay in responding to me upon purchasing the Big Deal was quite annoying. When Potomac Svcs arrived he mentioned that their other guy was unavailable (don't recall specifically why). So I suppose that, compounded with half of their work force being unavailable would negatively affect their responsiveness.

He seemed knowledgeable. He was late showing up to perform the job.

I am very happy with the service. Jeff is the owner of this company and did the service. He is knowledgeable, did a good job, explained his inspection findings well and made good, practical recommendations. I will use this company going forward.
