They cleaned our dryer vent, which is up in attic. From the 1st phone call to the technicians complete service everything was great!

I called on Friday (after calling another provider two week before who never called back) and received an appointment for the next day, Saturday. Jeff arrived on time, was friendly and courteous, and inspected the fireplace, chimney, and the basement area where the leaking smoke has been appearing. He found that the most likely source of the problem was the ash pit under the fireplace, and told me that the best thing to do would be to fill it in. He said I could do it myself, told me what I needed to get, and even gave me the fire brick that I needed, for no charge. On top of it all, he gave me his cellphone number and told me to call if I had any problems when doing it! I was dreading that we were going to have to face a multi-thousand dollar repair bill, and instead Jeff showed me how to fix it myself for about $20 in materials. It is this kind of service that gives me hope for the future of this country! I will be sure to go back to Potomac Services for anything I need that they offer.

They accidently left a spot on my floor after the work was done but they did come back and correct this issue. The chimney cleaning went well, they also came back and cleaned our air ducts at a greatly reduced rate and the spot was corrected.

Work was fine. Suggested and installed a guard on the exit side of the vent.

On time, pleasant workman, good deal on Angies List--don't recall price of the "deal."

I was disappointed in the service and the young man who came out to do. I felt he was cutting corners on the service because it was a special deal.

They arrived on time and did a good job in sweeping the chimney. He did not have a ladder that would reach the top of my chimney. He provided an estimate to come back out and a name of another company that could complete the job. Very disappointing that they didn't have the equipment to complete the job. Now I will have to take another day off of work to get the job done.

Overall it went well, except for the dryer vent. The technician did not attach it properly and therefore we had lint in the laundry area on our upstairs level. The company sent someone back to fix it in a timely fashion. It was in a very tight area so we were not able to do it ourselves.

Not much to say about a basic fireplace chimney-cleaning -- price was on a "deal" so it was good. The chimney-sweep did the cleaning from inside but also inspected the exposed part of the chimney on the roof to make sure that the fixture that keeps birds out was intact. No mess afterward so that was fine. This is one of those types of services where the customer really can't see the quality -- how does one know if the chimney was thoroughly cleaned? -- so "quality" ratings are on superficial things like cleaning-up and inspecting the top of the chimney.

Potomac Services were pretty good. One of the chimneys failed the Level 2 test. It was an Angie's List promotion where they said I would get a sweep and then they would upgrade. I was given a video inspection of one of them free as an extra perk. They found cracks in my chimney - I did get a second opinion just to make sure - and then they did a pretty expensive repair because it was a major repair. It wasn't a whole reconstruction, but it was a step below that. They did a really good job. The lining of the chimney has to be all one piece, according to the Code, otherwise it constitutes a fire hazard. They completely relined the inside of it with this stuff that they put on the nose of the space shuttle. It is a ceramic, it looks like putty when you put it in, but then it hardens like that surface, because it has to withstand really high heat. They did tell me that chimneys are usually swept in the spring, after they've been used through the winter, but they came in the fall because that was when I called them. They also added a chimney cap for me. It is a special cap on top, it is a top-mounted damper cap, so it is weather proof, it keeps rain and animals and leaves out. It has a gasket on the bottom of it so when you pull it it is closed. It was several visits. Even though they do a good job to clean up afterwards, there's always a layer of dust left. I don't know if that is just how it is when you have your chimney swept. But the mats that they bring in, they use them over and over so there was residual dust.

Representatives came on time. They were careful of cleanliness, explained the procedure and explained what the camera was showing as it proceeded to examine my chimney. There was no work required on the inside of the chimney -- an honest bunch.

Technician came out and promptly vacuumed out a dryer duct from a second floor eave outlet. The Dryer is on second floor. He did a good job.

He was supposed to do a camera look, but because of the way our flu was set up, we were not able to get the service we felt we were entitled to.

I had to get my chimney swept for the buyers in a real estate transaction (they had an overly aggressive home inspector) -- it had been swept by the same company for half the price in an Angie's List Big Deal a year earlier. It was not truly necessary based on the limited use over the winter. The team of two (one experienced, one apprentice) was there for about 25 minutes, they provided me with an "inspection/sweep receipt", and were on their way. They were professional and clean. I just think $175 for 25 minutes is a lot of money.

The service provider sent one professional to clean our chimney. He expressed concerns about a large chunk of concrete which fell out of our chimmney during the service and recomnded anoth appoinment with a camera sent up at an additional charge. At the next appointment a different service provider performed the check and found no problems. He ended up not charging us for the additional service.

They did a good job. The gentleman reviewed the work with me and then got it done quickly.

I have been very pleased both times and plan on continuing to call on them in the future. I have recommended Potomac Services to multiple friends and co-workers and will continue to do so. I need to have all of my vents cleaned next year and plan on using Potomac for that as well.

The technician arrived on time, did a good job, cleaned up after himself, talked to me about the fire place and chimney and left. Great service.

Excellent work. Provided very helpful advice (the top of our chimney is deteriorating and needs future work; we were aware of the need for fixing things, but benefited greatly from the detailed explanation and options we were provided ). Arrived right on schedule and did a nice job for us. We will certainly use them in the future. Recommend Potomac Services highly!

Overall it went very well. He made suggestions regarding maintenance which I found very helpful.

It went very well. The only negative aspect was that the company did not do it from on top because we have a slate roof, and they do not go on slate roofs. Consequently, I would not use this company again because I need to have the condition of the top of the chimney and flue inspected periodically, and that can only be on the roof.
