Called to schedule appointment on Thursday 11/5 and got one for Tuesday 11/10 - receptionist was friendly and actually remembered my previous appointment from the summer. Two crews came out to do the work, one for chimney and one for air duct cleaning, but both were coordinated and on time. Jason showed up first to do the chimney cleaning and inspection...was very professional, explained how I needed a firelog grate to use the fireplace, and pointed out a crack in the bottom panel that would need replacing next year. The cleaning brought a ton of soot out (previous owners had not cleaned for at least 7 years) but Jason was careful and did not get any soot on our hardwood floors. Bryson and Gary showed up 10 minutes after Jason was done to do the air duct cleaning, they were very professional and careful and made sure everything was put back the way it was before they came.

They were a little late (because of equipment problems). Once there - the work was done very quickly. Very curteous. After they left I noticed that I was invoiced for only 15 ducts cleaned and the house has considerably more. I'm not sure if the invoice was wrong or if I was shorted on the work. However, whatever work that was done seems to have helped.

The service men arrived on time and explained to us exactly what they were going to do. They wasted no time getting started and the job took approximately 3 hours. They were very neat in their clean up and gave us suggestions as to what type of filters to use in some of our vents. They explained that we would notice a difference in the air in about 2 days. Actually, we noticed a difference right away. We now run our air conditioner 3 degrees warmer since the cleaning. We are very happy with the company and the results of their work.

I found them through Angieslist. They came through for me. All of the recommendations on the list were very true and they did a great job. I really liked them, they were very professional and punctual. The service technician was great and I would certainly recommend them to others and use them again.

They arrived on time, very professional and careful, and completed the work within the alloted/estimated time. After my ducts were cleaned, my family felt the IMMEDIATE difference in the coolness of our home, particularly in the upstairs! WOW, what a difference a GOOD cleaning makes!

We had scheduled the job for 8:30 am and he was very punctual (actually, he was a few minutes early). The whole job took about 1 hour and 45 minutes. He cleaned all the ducts and explained what he was doing as he went a lot. Jason was very professional and knowledgeable about his work. We were very happy with the results (he got a ton of dust out of the air ducts -- we found a few dust bunnies afterwards, but considering our ducts had never been cleaned before, it seemed pretty normal to have some dust accumulate a bit outside or around the edges of the vents.

Jason came and was ahead of schedule, so he called and asked to come earlier than the appointed time. That was fine. He was efficient and professional. Our air is cleaner and smells fresher.

My appliance repair company recommended another company but after looking at that dryer vent company's reviews on Angie's List, I went with Potomac based on their pricing and high reviews.The project took two visits - our fault, not theirs - because there was so much disgusting, wet lint built up from years of not having proper cleaning of the vent done. In any case, for both vists, they were on time, efficient, very helpful and did a terrific job. I am thankful to say the vent is cleaned. Special kudos to Bryson and Ben for doing a terrific job.

I called on 7/2/2009 and they had an appointment the same day, but I could not do that so we scheduled for a week later on 7/8/2009. Bryson was the technician that came out and he was right on time, he was very thorough and inspected the dryer vent run before beginning work. I was especially impressed with the equipment, he measured airflow before and after the cleaning in the dryer vent. He also advised that there was evidence of bird or rodent nesting in our vent, and offered to put a bird guard on for an additional $20 which I agreed to. He was very clear on explaining the work done and the charges on the invoice and made sure to leave a phone number in case there were any problems. Although this company charges more than the average for this work I was OK with that given the thoroughness of the work and the emphasis this company has on ensuring proper equipment as well as current industry training and certifications for its employees. Will definitely be calling them to do a whole house air vent cleaning and chimney cleaning/inspection in a couple months.

The technician arrived early. Service was provided exactly as discussed when I made the appointment. The technician tested the vent to determine the speed/force of air exiting the the vent and the back of dryer before and after cleaning. In less than an hour he had removed a significant amount of lint and debris from the dryer vent.

Jason arrived promptly and proved to be knowledgeable and professional. He began with an assessment of my 3-story townhouse and then commenced the procedures. He had to cut two access ports into the ducts near the fan, but this was done quickly and effectively. While the system was being vacuumed out, he went from interior duct to duct to assist the cleaning process. Afterwards, he patched the access ports well and airtight, but in a manner in which they could be used again. When he discovered that the dryer vented through the roof, he was unable to access the outside vent cover because that would have required a 40 foot ladder. Nevertheless, he was able to access the vent through the attic and remove the collected lint that had been blocking the vent and preventing the dryer from functioning properly. Jason kept me informed at every step and seemed to enjoy educating me about the procedures required and the considerations involved in the service. His work was quick but careful and has since been shown to be very effective. I felt very much as if he were a local craftsman operating in my community rather than an anonymous technician who figured he would never see me again. This attitude, coupled with the very reasonable price, made a very favorable impression on me. I would definitely recommend this company, particularly if Jason is the serviceman.

I called and spoke with Laurie who scheduled an appointment at my preferred time. She called back to say there might be a conflict and could they do a Saturday instead. I said yes we could but preferred the original appt time. She said she would see if she could shuffle things around to accommodate our original appt. She called the next day and said she had it all figured out and we would be able to have our original appt. She gave me an estimate for our system that seemed reasonable based off of conversations I have had with friends who have had this type of service done. Technician arrived early on the scheduled day and completed the job as requested. There was some evidence of bird activity around the dryer vent and I asked the technician if he had a bird guard and if he could install that for me. He did for $20. The estimate was exactly what I was charged plus the bird guard install. The technician did a great job and was very careful of my furniture and walls. He was very courteous and clean.

The reason I hired them was because they are on Angie's list. They were on time and worked efficiently. I felt very comfortable with their explanations. They were very courteous. Their prices seemed high than others, but you get what you pay for. They have a special truck that they use that has a specialized vacuum that most companies don't have. They are very fast and seem to know what they are doing. They spent a lot of time pointing out things and explaining what was going on. They took care to clean up and make sure nothing was damaged.

Great job explaining service when I initially contacted them. Technician was early for scheduled appointment. He explained everything, including how much time it would take, activities to be performed, inspected house for all ducts, and identified any possible issues prior to cleaning(e.g., duct register painted shut). Finished on time, inspected work prior to having me walk-through. Overall excellent.

Overall, pretty good. The work was performed in a professional manner. Some debris did get blown around inside the house that needed to be cleaned after the technician left. However, I expect that is par for the course and we had prepared for the need to clean up after the work was performed. I had thought that I was also going to have my chimney cleaned and inspected as well, but it appears that this service was not scheduled concurrently and I am now trying to reschedule for the chimney inspection and cleaning.

I called them up, got the price, and scheduled the appointment. The technician called to see if it was ok to arrive earlier, I said it was. He explained in detail what he would be doing, it took a couple of hours. He also did the dryer vent, I was surprised when he said it was in bad shape, and happy that I got it done! The only thing I wasn't expecting was the dust and particles that got dispersed during the cleaning, it was all over the place. But I don't know if there was anything that could have been done to prevent that. I was very pleased with the work!

The heating sensor on my dryer went out. The tech from Vienna Appliance suggested having the vent cleared because it appeared to be very clogged. The heating ducts had been cleaned two years ago and I thought the dryer vent would've been included especially since out all the ducts/vents in the house, the most likely to be clogged up would be the dryer vent. Little did I know that a separate service is used for the dryer vent cleaning. I learned the hard way by replacing the sensor in the dryer. I didn't want to run the dryer without having the vent cleared and Potomac Services were able to squeeze my appointment in during the busy holiday season.

I called to make the appointment. Since it was for a house I'm renting out, I gave my credit card info (which wasn't charged until after the service was done) to them and gave my tenant's cell phone to set up the appointment with directly. They called her right away and scheduled it for a few days later. Her comments were: Jason said he talked to you already to let you know what was going on with the dryer vent. He was very friendly and talkative. He was also very quick. :). Made sure to brush off his coveralls after climbing under the porch, before coming back into the house. He seemed to be very thorough and was good to explain what he was doing, why, and what the issue was. He also came back in to check airflow once he was done. From me again: It turned out when my basement had been renovated, the contractor put a mesh screen or something on the vent, which was blocking it. The dryer went from taking 3+ times to dry a load to being like a completely new dryer. I wish I had called them a year ago!!

Everything went great. He cleaned the chimney quickly and cleanly, explained a small problem with part of our fireplace (but didn't try to sell anything-just informed us to keep an eye on it) and gave us a lot of good information on care and maintenance. I'm guessing at the $125 figure since my boyfriend paid for it, but I recall that number being tossed around. Contact them for an accurate price.

Called & spoke with rep after speaking with another local company. Prices for this type service seem to be fixed depending on type of house (condo vs single family). I appreciated that the rep gave me the price appropriate for my small townhouse (another company I called had an operator who could only use the above categories & could not use any discretion in quoting the price). I was hoping to set up an appointment within 4 days due to other work being done at my house, and the rep managed to fit me in. When I received work that the other work was being postponed, Potomac Services accommodated my change in schedule. The tech showed up on time, explained clearly everything he would be doing & the time it would take. I was very impressed with his professionalism. The job was done well & neatly, and I will be setting up a schedule with this company for yearly dryer vent cleaning.

Spoke with Carl and made an appointment for the following week at 12:30 PM. The technician arrived early, explained to my wife the dryer vent cleaning process, and answered any questions she had. He was very professional and did a great job. We will definitely use them again. Please note that the dryer vent cleaning service costs $125 plus tax.

They responded immediately to my call and the guy was great and was actually the owner of the company. I had compared some quotes and they were the least expensive and I feel that they did more for the money. They were exceptional while on the job and neat and clean.

Service provider was professional, personable, and thorough. I was pleased with the result. The dryer vent cleaning was free when I cited Angie's List as the source for requesting his service.

They did exactly what they said they would. They were very efficient and clean, they even covered their shoes. They were right on with the time they said it would take. I felt they were very professional and were honest about what they were doing.

It all went well, Mr. Porter arrived on time. He did an excellent job in explaining the overall process of duct cleaning. He advised us on different options to avoid dust.
