The crew was suppose to arrive on Wednesday, and work for 3 days (Wednesday - Friday) to complete the contracted job. After taking off work to meet the crew on Wednesday, they were a no show. I received an email at noon stating that they crew would not arrive. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the email until after I called the company at 1 to inquire where the crew was and if they would still meet the agreed to timeframe. Thursday morning a 2 man crew arrived and removed the carpet from the stairs and approximately 200 sq/ft of the 700sq/ft floors to be replaced. On this day the crew also placed new stair risers to be stained to match the hardwood floors. Unfortunately, the crew was unfamiliar with the subfloor pad provided and rather than follow the instructions they improperly installed it. I selected floor muffler red foam subfloor material to reduce noise and as I have used this material personally in the past and have had it installed in my other residence I know it to be a quality product. The crew however, unfamiliar with it cut it into sections and scotch tapped it together overlapping edges which created an uneven subfloor. Additionally, the crew installed the subfloor pad on top of debris further degrading its effectiveness and the quality of the floor installation. The owner actually told me that this subfloor material is only for floating floors despite specifically being designed for solid hardwood nail down flooring. Furthermore, the owner informed me that the hardwood manufactures recommended subfloor is only paper which is not what the manufacture states. Aside from the 40% waste of subfloor material and 60% waste of hardwood material the crew also damaged several sections of our stairs, walls, furniture and decor. In terms of the hardwood, the crew noted that some material in a single box was darker than other material. As they were only initially working with material from one open box at a time rather than follow the manufactures recommendation to open several boxes to best match color and pattern. However, several installed planks have split 2-6inches as a result of improper installation. My heavily pregnant wife and 100% disabled USMC combat veteran wife was home and provided the crew with lunch and communicated her concerns to the companies service coordinator to no avail. However, not much progress was made. At the end of the day, when I arrived home the crew had installed roughly 160sq/ft of material and that again is on top of a botched subfloor, on top of debris and having split several planks. I spoke with the owner, emailed pictures and expressed concerns about the crew beings able to complete the job by Friday (the agreed to date). I was informed that I had the wrong subfloor, that my hardwood material was bad and that the crew was not familiar with how to install the material. I was also informed that the job will spill into the following week and likely take 2-3 times longer to complete than agreed to. This is not to mention the repairs to our home. With a baby on the way and out of town family arriving next week our home is a wreck and so many repairs to our walls, stairs and furniture are required. This is humiliating. The owner stated that it’s unnecessary to remove and replace the damaged subfloor and instead recommends continuing with paper subfloor. This would mean that 160ish sq/ft will have a different subfloor than the remaining space. Also that the debris which was installed over will remain. The owner also is reluctant to pay for the material wasted thus far. I’m not sure how to proceed but, I know how I would have started if I could start over… NEVER CALL NOVA IN THE FIRST PLACE!

It was really easy to pick out samples, they brought it to us in a van. They had all of it in the van which was great. I didn't have to go anywhere. They were quick installing. What I didn't like was they were a little messy. Not with the floor per say but with finger prints on the walls, like varnish. I would recommend them, I just wouldn't paint the walls before you got the floors put in.
Description of Work: I used Nova Homeworks for handyman work. They replaced carpet with wood floor.

The owner of Nova Homeworks, or out point of contact, or the workers didn't seem to ever know what each other was talking about. It was total confusion and they were dragging the process out. The installation of one of the most key parts of the carpet, which was as runner up a big staircase, was so bad I had to rip it out and they argued with me that I was wrong, even though it's my house. It was the worst quality, most unprofessional, overpriced service I've ever dealt with.
Description of Work: Nova Homeworks replaced the original carpet and refinished the hardwood floors.
I have been looking at getting hard wood floors for about 5 years now and the process has been frustrating. After talking to Daniel he made it so simple it was amazing. He comes to your home and gives you options that work for you. No crazy overwhelming options that you wouldn't need . now I finally have my dream hard wood floors and they just make me smile every day. Next time I will definitely call Daniel before I check out anywhere else. he is not the cheapest but I believe you get what you pay for and with Daniel you get much more. His along with his team Ellen and Lisa are wonderful to work with. Thank you for everything.
Description of Work: Installation of hard wood floors
From start to finish, Nova Homeworks did a thoroughly professional job. They ordered the carpet for us, they showed up when they promised. They worked carefully in our home moving furniture where necessary to rip up the old carpet and lay new carpet. Everything was done neatly and precisely. They more than exceeded our expectations.
Description of Work: Nova Homeworks replaced our carpeting in the entire upstairs of our home and most of the main floor. They also installed wood flooring in one of the four bedrooms upstairs. They did all the work necessary for a job like this, including ordering the carpet, ripping out and disposing all the old carpet and padding, installing the new padding and carpet, and wood flooring, and completed all the finishing work.

After getting off to a rocky start (1st day the contractor did not drain the toilet before removing and we had water running through our kitchen ceiling) the company was eager to right their wrongs and the final result is nice; we are pleased with the way the project ended up. .

Things started out well, until we discovered the subfloor plywood was all bad. It was soft in many places and weak all over, and had to be replaced. That took about three more days of hard work for the crew. They were very nice and professional. The rest of the work went very well and everything looked great when they were done. I would certainly reccommend them to others and will call on them again if I need anything else done.
Description of Work: provided and installed hardwood floors in the living room, hall, dining room and kitchen. Provided and installed carpet in 3 bedrooms. Remodeled bathroom. Removed old tub and installed an all tiled shower. Installed baseboard througout house. Installed kitchen cabinets.

In November 2011 NOVA HomeWorks installed high traffic hospital grade wood grain vinyl flooring in our conservatory. This room is our Trikke showroom and riding area. They arrived on time, did an professional job and thoroughly cleaned up afterwards, all in one day. Ellen Kash and Daniel Reed came out earlier to discuss our requirements and gave us an estimate that was very reasonable. The flooring we selected with their expert advice blended well with the existing wood used throughout the room. The results of their care in installing the flooring was exquisite due to their attention to detail, especially the spiral staircase and the floor outlets. People who were familiar with the old tile flooring are stunned by the change to the room with its warmth and beauty. When we upgrade the reset of our flooring, NOVA HomeWorks will be our first choice. Preston Hewitt Trikke Virginia

It went well. They were recommended by my coworker. They were very responsive and answered any questions that I had. Their specialty is flooring. They have a lot to learn in remodeling field because they are a new company. Their price was better than a lot of other contractors in the area. The end result was nice, but they made a lot of errors during the process. We enjoyed working with owner, but they need more experience.
Description of Work: Nova Homeworks remodeled our bathroom in January. They did everything but the plumbing.

We were very pleased with the personalized attention we got during the estimate; the follow through during the work and afterwards; and by the professionalism of the workers. Their lead project manage came to our our house and showed us samples of the wood we'd have installed and arranged to have it all delivered a few days in advance to acclimate. When his workers arrived to begin the work, they did a conscientious job of covering up our kitchen cabinets and hanging plastic to reduce the dust elsewhere in the house. They were neat and attentive to keeping things orderly (i.e. disposing the wood they ripped out.) The floors looked fantastic when they were done. The trim was neatly finished. And they left the house completely clean of debris.
Description of Work: We had the tile floors in the kitchen and bathroom, the wood floors in the front hallway, and the carpeting in the dining room all ripped out and replaced with hardwood floors.
