My 50 year old toilet, a stock American Standard model the builder installed, was overflowing, so I thought I had a drain clog. Not so, said the Nugent plumber, Tommy. He diagnosed it as an aging toilet whose inner traps had failed, so he recommended a few units to replace it. I selected his top of the line choice — a Toto model reputed to be the best. The company delivered it to him while we waited and he installed it well. Problem solved. Note: The cost of service reflects a 5% Angie's List discount.

Michael was very professional. He started by explaining how much the 2 things I wanted done would cost. He had the faucet replaced in no time. We also wanted a quarter-turn handle placed on a water supply line. He did that fine but the cost he quoted was much more than I expected. I saw a previous review stating $375 for the faucet and that is exactly what I was charged. For the quarter turn handle it was $225.

After being a good customer for 30yrs needed work and was blown off for 2 days they had 2 guys working directly across the street from me and could not provide service. they where very busy . They have gotten gotten to big to care about long time customers and the money I spent on water heaters and a/c and heating units. Called Arlington A/C and they will have someone out in the morning. No problem with scheduling. I requested a quote and was contacted quickly to set up an appointment. The estimator arrived within the scheduled window and conducted a review of our current system and made verbal recommendations. This was on a Friday, and we were promised a quote the following Monday. No quote arrived. I called after one week and was told that they would get back to me. After two full weeks +, I have not been contacted or recieved a quote.

Tech #294 Mario was very professional and helpfully explained the problem. He inspected the furnace (found not problems beyond broken damper) and cleaned part of the ductwork. Total charge for visit $208. He provided a quote for damper replacement: $380. Seems high for replacing manual damper, but I guess good service costs good money.

They came back the second time I had a question. It was kind. He was professional.

They never responded to my request for a quote.

We reached out to Nugent and Sons to get a quote for some HVAC work in the basement we are remodeling. The Nugent and Sons quote was much, much higher than any other company we were looking at; others were charging between $1200 and $2000 and Nugent's representative Mike quoted close to $6000. When I asked for an itemized quote to understand the discrepancy, Mike Jackson wrote an unhelpful email, noting in his email: "Hello. We don’t break down pricing. We have set pricing. Moving the units is a lot of work. Gas line, flue, extending/changing ductwork etc. same with the water heater." I've worked for a contractor in Fairfax County and know the permitting process well. Anyone can look up the price for permitting, which I did. Adding up the cost of permitting, materials, 6 hrs of labor at $150 an hour, and a healthy margin still didn't get the numbers up to $2k, let alone the $5850 they were charging here. In response to me pointing out how much the job should cost, Mike stopped responding to my emails and then told my wife he didn't want to work with us. Having been a contractor in this area; it's deeply disturbing to me that there are companies like this out here trying to pull the wool over people's eyes. Take your business elsewhere. Josh at Brennan's Heating and Air Conditioning will do a much better job for you and your family. They'll answer your questions and won't be condescending or try to scam you.

Fabulous! The company was professional and efficient in every day from the in-house consultation through the finished installation. I obtained four proposals and Nugent won out in every way. They provided the Carrier Performace A/C unit and furnace. I had chosen additional components: humidifier and a media filter. Additionally, they installed the WiFi thermostat I had purchased. I am delighted with the equipment and the service provided by Nugent and Sons. I had decided to replace my old system before the winter and am so glad I had the luxury of taking the time to research HVAC systems and go through a bidding process. I recommend this company without any reservations.

Jason quickly diagnosed the issue of incorrect wiring in the blower, fixed the problem, and adjusted the blower settings back to where they should be. He was forthright about what needed to be done right away to get our A/C working normally, and what work was optional to get slightly better cooling or could be safely deferred to a later date. They were in and out the same day and did a great job.

Good clean work. Very satisfied with workmanship, professionalism, approach to job. The cost was a touch under $600.00. But all the estimates were about the same.

It went well but the work took an hour and I provided the faucet so there was no material involved and the cost was $375.00 which seems really excessive for one hour of work. There was a $99 fee to come look at the work so it wasn't worth paying the $99 and finding someone else to do the work. That's why I went ahead and had them to the install despite the very high quote.

Of several firms that I called the day after a holiday, this was the one place that accommodated me on a same-day basis. Carlo came and fixed multiple problems and got everything fully shipshape, and gave me some pointers on circuit management as well. They are somewhat pricey but for what they did today, am OK with that.

Well, things went very poorly. We've been contract customer of Nugent & Sons for the last 4 years. 26 months after spending $15k on a new Carrier furnace John Nugent & sons installed, the circuit board broke this week & the unit stopped heating our home. After paying a service tech from Nugent & Son (with zero personality, no empathy nor concern for us btw) $90 to tell me I have to pay nearly $300 in labor to replace the part, & barely any discount off labor, we made the easy choice to abandon John Nugent & Sons. The service-tech manager I called then schooled me on why they needn't take any responsibility and suggested it was all my problem/issue & wouldn't meet me anywhere near the middle on my re-purchase of their service to reinstall a faulty product they provided. Nice! I would DEF not recommend this company.

Service was perfect, as usual. I had an humidifier issue during winter and called Nugent & Sons for prices on replacement. The price was in the range I was expecting and had them do the work. Kenneth was the technician that came out for the work. I had them come back for the Spring AC Tune up, which it was Kenneth. Kenneth walked me through the process of what he was doing and looking at on both units. Easy to talk to and, more importantly, was on time for the appointment. I recommend Nugent & Sons to anyone, mainly because of Kenneth!!
