Description of Work: We had John Nugent & Sons do our home gas conversion. They were very professional, friendly and thorough. They also did some plumbing work for us. I have never worked with a service company as good as this one. We highly recommend them!

Description of Work: The technician determined that the eletrical line to the water heater wasn't installed correctly as a result of the fuse box being replaced by the kitchen company I'm using. The electrician for the kitchen company came back and agreed that this was the problem.

Description of Work: Very professional from start to finish of the project. They installed a new furnace and moved an existing outside compressor. All work was completed quickly and done very well. NO short cuts were taken, as they performed some work items that I would not have known were a problem. I recommended them to a neighbor who also used them for a new furnace.

Description of Work: My upstairs heater was not working properly. It would run, but did not heat the upstairs rooms. I called Nugent and made an appointment. The technician tried a "fix" which did not hold. The technician had to return several days later and decided that the only real solution was to replace the gas valve, which he did. All aspects of my service were good. The person who answered the phone was professional, pleasant and helpful (something that I had never experienced with my previous HVAC company). The technician was also professional, pleasant, and knowledgeable (also believable). The heater works well now (good because the weather has become cooler). I only wish that I was given a slight discount because the first attempt at fixing the heater did not work.

Description of Work: I had leaks in a library ceiling. (No dripping but wet areas.) Someone from Nugents came quickly to their credit. Holes were cut in the ceiling drywall. The plumber diagnosed two leaks: one from the toilet in the master bath and one from a jacuzzi. He was able to re-seal the toilet on the first day and replace the flapper. I was charged between $600-700. He said he needed a part for the jacuzzi repair that had to be ordered which he expected an a few days and estimated that repair at $169. I called Nugent Plumbing about ten days or more later when I still had holes in the ceiling and had heard nothing and was told the part was and had been in. The same plumber returned with a simple rubber gasket and three other plumbers. (He was alone on the first call.) They replaced the gasket and pronounced the leak fixed....then gave me a bill for $400+. When I objected to the jump in price the bill was brought down by about $100 but I was still outraged. and over-charged.The reason I was given is that there were three plumbers involved, though I had absolutely no need for three plumbers and the part ordered was a $1.00 rubber gasket. I would not have objected to sticking with the $169 estimate because all that was needed was indeed the replacement gasket. I believe the repairs were done correctly and this company came quickly when I needed a plumber but I would not call them again based on this nonsense.

Description of Work: In the scorching heat of late July, a repairman from John Nugent & Sons arrived less than 24 hrs after our distress call and repaired our unit in about 45 minutes. He replaced a "blown" capacitor in the outdoor unit. The repairman was courteous, fast, efficient and conscientious about wearing his shoe covers. We will definitely call John Nugent & Sons for our next repair, and recommend them to our friends.

Description of Work: The service provided far exceeded our expectations. Our HVAC system failed just as we approached the heat wave with temperaturesin the 90's - 100. Our agent Mr. Carl Sauls, provided and personally installed a portable window unit which provided much welcomed temporary comfort while the system we ordered was being customized to our specifications. The response time of all Nugent personell we encountered was exceptional from the office personell to the skilled installers. The system was installed with no hitches, clean-up was thorough, and the system itself works to perfection. I wouldl refer their services to anyone with COMPLETE CONFIDENCE.

Description of Work: Upstairs heat pump was not cooling well. Technician called before visit and showed up during the stated time window. He thoroughly checked the system temperatures and freon levels. Cleaned off outdoor coil and replaced filter, no freon leak was detected. He showed us how to clean the outdoor coil in case it happens again.

Description of Work: I had contacted the company by email requesting an appointment for an estimate on a new system. I received a response the same day and was able to schedule an appointment in a timely manner. Although I cancelled the appointment, their professionalism and responsiveness was impressive.

Description of Work: While making use of the toilet but not flushing it, the Fluidmaster shot up approximately 2and 1/2 inches, forcing the ceramic top to jump up, knocking all of the items on top to fall off. The noise was jarring. I called John Nugent and Sons, since they were listed with an "A" rating. This toilet is also the only one in this place. I spoke to one of the managers trying to explain what went wrong. I did not do a very good job of it, despite looking at your toilet illustrations. Eventually I found the name fluidmaster on the item that rose up. Within less than 10 minutes, John Nugent and Sons had sent a plumber to my door. Troy Carter was efficient, professional, and installed a new Fluidmaster part. He also advised that while all of the other parts in the toilet should be replaced, it would be better, because of the parts condition, to just replace the toilet. He gave me a price if I purchased the toilet. I also asked Mr. Carter to look at the unfinished toilet in the basement, a project started by the earlier tenants. He advised me what would need to be done and that their company could do the plumbing, etc. However, I do not have the funds for this project. I would rate Mr. Carter and the company with an "A+." Thank you.

Description of Work: Shower faucet leaked badly when shower head was being used. Danny came out and assessed the problem and explained everything clearly to me. He had to order replacement parts but suggested how I could use the shower without furthering the problem until he could return to install the new parts. This is important because if he hadn't told me what to do, I am certain I would have made the problem worse through sheer ignorance. He returned in a few days and installed the parts and everything works great. He was very helpful, professional and friendly. I will not hesitate calling John Nugent and asking for Danny if I have other plumbing issues.

Description of Work: Central air conditioning went out. They were able to come the same day and determined that the motor needed to be replaced. 2 days later they returned and installed a new motor and restored the air conditioning. Technician was polite and efficient.

Description of Work: Their add says free estimates, yet they wanted to charge me $95 to come out. I have a large job to do and know it will cost me $6000. If a company wants my business they should be willing to not charge to spend 30 minutes to look over the situation. And don't say free if it's not free. Fortunately, there are plenty of companies willing to give you a free estimate.

Description of Work: At 4:30pm on a Friday I found my basement flooded. It appeared to be coming from a water heater I knew was getting old. I called Nugent and their very nice office person, Ruby, had the on call tech call me right away. I wish I could remember his name, because he was also very pleasant. He told me how to turn off the water to the tank. He said he would call me back right away. Within 5 minutes he called and said the owner, Pat was in the area and he would be right over. So within 40 minutes of my original call I had the owner there with a helper, Manny, working on my problem. While Pat was diagnosing the problem, Manny was wringing out towels that I had down and mopping up the water. Pat determined I needed a new water heater and said he would order one to come on Monday. What unheard of service! You can see this in every report listed on Angie's List. Their rates may be a bit higher, but it shows in the quality of their staff. I have found that "If you pay people peanuts, you are going to get monkeys." Nugent has always sent the most knowledgeable and professional people I have found in any company. It is a pleasure doing business with them.
