Received several quotes. One plumber did not want to do the work due to the complexity of the job; another plumber thought it would take a day or more. The plumbers at John Nugent came in at half the price and did the job in under 3 hrs. Very easy to work with.

From start to finish, the personnel of John Nugent and Sons were pleasant and professional. My first contact was with the manager, Mike Jackson, who came out the same day I called to make an estimate. Throughout the process he answered myriad questions via e-mail. After I decided to hire the company, he delivered two space heaters the next day, Friday, for use (at no cost) until installation of the new unit. The installation supervisor came out Monday to make more measurements. He and the installers, who came Tuesday, arrived exactly when promised and were pleasant, courteous, and responsive to my questions. They covered all areas inside the condo with tarps and wore "booties" over their shoes. I felt confident enough to leave for a couple of hours to have lunch with a friend. Before starting, the two installers removed all items stored inside the furnace closet and afterwards helped me return them and place two unwanted large items in trash bags. After they left, there was no trace of any debris anywhere. Even the carpeted stairs to my condo unit had been vacuumed! Finally, the price for the work was considerably lower than the other estimate I obtained. One of the crew set up an appointment with the county for the required inspection after two weeks. I failed to get the names of the two installers, but their supervisor's name was Thom.

Wonderful, prompt, knowledgeable, professional service. Even loaned us a couple of window air conditioners until the job was finished.

He was on time, analyzed the problem, informed me of the repair cost and preformed the repair in a very reasonable amount of time. Can’t ask for more than that!

They showed up on time. Got the work done without creating a mess anywhere. They asked permission to replace the supply line that runs between the inside and outside air conditioning units, to insure the new units ran more efficiently. No extra charge, so that was nice. They said that the unit is working harder than it should to get its air supply from the conditioned part of that part of the house. That could be easily be fixed by increasing the size of the air return grill for this unit. It is inadequately small, and so it was one of the reasons for the early failure of the air conditioner. I am very happy with the work, the guys, the price, and the suggestions they made.

On time, very professional. Master Electrician explained that second employee was an apprentice and that he needed hands-on experience as part of his licensing. Clearly explained what he found, provided what I call "sixty-second explanations of 'this is what this does and this is how it does it' " without sounding condescending or going right over our heads, patiently answered additional questions, prioritized what we should do next and what could wait, and clearly provided pricing/options.

Over the years, we have used Nugent for everything. They have serviced our A/C and furnaces, helped us with a clogged sump pump, re-engineered a poorly-designed outside drain, replaced both of our air conditioning units, and installed a whole-home generator. I've dealt with a dozen different technicians over the course of all these projects, and all were efficient and professional. There is a reason we keep going back to them without even calling other companies.

Brilliant assessment. I finally found an exterminator who advised that if treating for drain flies didn't solve the problem, then the issue was a structural one such as a crack where they could be breeding. I already had a different plumbing Co. twice and they couldn't seem to find anything wrong. Then I contacted Nugent and Sons and they sent a person who confirmed I did not have a cracked pipe, I did not have a broken sewer line, and he clearly identified 3 things that could be the source of the problem. He corrected two of them on the spot and I set about getting an appointment with the HVAC people to fix/evaluate the 3rd. Thanks and congratulations to this company for their fine work and service. I am now going to have them replace the kitchen disposal.

Fantastic service! Polite, professional and punctual. Quality repair diagnosed and executed in a timely manner with updates and explanations along the way. Messy repair that was a slow insidious leak that others could NOT diagnose and treat...but Shawn handled it like a pro -- leaving the job site cleaner than he found it!! YES...you might pay more for Nugent and Sons but you will be pleased that you did.

Technician Todd Marshall came out as scheduled and was thorough and highly competent. He provided several good recommendations and indicated I could anticipate receiving a quote for the prescribed work. Todd also said he was not going to charge for the service call to quote the work. WIthin a half hour I had an invoice for the service call but no quote. After several days I called in and asked about the quote and was told I would receive a call from manager - then no call. I called again the next day and again told to expect a call from manager - again no call. After two weeks I called again and explained I had left two messages previously and no communication from manager and no quote received. I received a call from Manager a couple of hours later - he explained that another department would be handling my quote and he would be walking over to coordinate with them. Over three weeks since the technician's visit I have a bill for a service call but I have no quote. Really surprising given the reviews found here and the professionalism/competence of the technician who visited my home!

The electrician called 30 mins in advance and was very courteous to make minor time adjustment to be at house. Arrived on time and solved the problems quickly and profesionally. Nuggent is working up quote for next work to be done. Good experience and will continue to work with them.

We had John Nugent come out a couple of years ago to check our HVAC and we were told we needed more refrigerant, at a cost of $600+. At the time, our AC was still working and it was only slightly uncomfortable so I didn't pay any attention to them and forgot all about the situation. Fast forward 2 years later, the AC has become progressively worse and I needed someone to take a look at it. I was told we had a leak and needed a new unit since the refrigerant is being phased out in 2020. Sure, this makes sense to me. We went ahead and had a coil and condenser installed and now, our AC is great! :) So... the reason, I am not giving them all "A's" is because the technician that came 2 years ago never offered to perform a leak search for us to repair the leak. Luckily, we didn't even end up needing the extra refrigerant because it took 2 years for the rest of it to leak out! Had I remembered this detail earlier, I wouldn't necessarily have used them again. The outcome may have been the same in the end, but doing a leak search would have bought us extra time on the old unit. $4800 is not a small sum of money to spend. I admit that I am disappointed in the company that they did not offer all of the options during our earlier interaction.

Great. After diagnosing the leak, I contacted Dulles Roofing and they inspected the roof and totally agreed with the plumber’s assessment.

Excellent experience in scheduling the appointment, same-day service. Service tech showed up within promised window (although it was a 4-hour window), diagnosed problem quickly, equipped to fix it on the spot. Very professional, explained what he was doing, told us the charges before he started any repair work.

Through every step of the process, the John Nugent & Sons team were knowledgeable, responsive, and very price competitive. They weren't the cheapest, but they certainly weren't the most expensive either. I'd hire them again with no hesitation.

Good afternoon, I contacted three HVAC businesses in the Oakton area after our 1st floor Carrier home air conditioning system went out. I selected the three vendors based on Angie's list and additional reviews and personal long term experience with one of them. John Nugent Company was one of the three. RJ is the sales person who came to our home. He arrived on his scheduled time, called ahead to let us know he was enroute and was a professional and personable representative for Nugent throughout the visit and subsequent discussions. The online evaluations for John Nugent are first rate and JR, if anything, added to that reputation. He was knowledgeable, pleasant, informative and provided all the technical information needed to make an informed decision. His estimate was timely, professional and in writing. In this case, our decision was complicated by the competence and professionalism of all three businesses I dealt with and none provided any negative discriminators. JR worked with us to get his price as competitive as possible. In the end we selected another vendor based on that company's ability to get a little lower during this snapshot in time. Our final decision came down to price and was not based on a value judgement of John Nugent or JR in any way. I will be happy to provide my highest recommendation to both as they pertain to the services I received (Responsiveness, Punctuality, Professionalism). Impressive work and professional service. We would definitely use them again!

Nugent & Sons always does a thorough job when they do work on our home. They came by first to determine the best way to do the project and give us an estimate. We were given several choices of how to proceed and we chose what we preferred. Then we set an appointment for the install. They came on the set date, did the work, and we have these wonderful cameras that do just what we want now. I highly recommend this company!

Service provider was very knowledgeable and professional. After assessing situation, a part needed to be ordered. Once part was obtained the installation was completed and air conditioning is back on.

They arrived on time, were courteous and professional, and finished in the expected time. I also got a quote from the Costco vendor - Nugent was cheaper by a third and more responsive.

The were great - responsive and right on time and very helpful - just thought the cost was high but I also have not had any recent plumbing issues - overall would definitely recommend.

The technician could not seem to get his eye on the ball. He inspected all sorts of things, but never seemed to understand that a section of the overflow drain line was leaking and needed to be replaced. He kept insisting that the main drain line was clogged. He offered to blow out the drain line ($218) or replace it with PVC ($1,175) but was unprepared or unwilling to do what I wanted. He seemed to be in a hurry to leave, and repeatedly told me there would be no warranty on any of his work, so I paid him the agreed-upon price for his service call, and he left without resolving the problem. I asked the technician about a proposal for a replacement A/C system, but have not heard back from the company more than 24 hours later. They're off my list after this experience.
