DO NOT USE GUTTERMAN SERVICES!! This is the most dishonest company I've ever dealt with in my 25 years as a homeowner. Their poor workmanship caused water damage to our home and they refused to stand behind their work. Gutterman Services installed a K-Guard gutter on one section of our roof in 2011 right before we moved in. Flash forward to 2022 and there was water leaking from the gutter out of a hole near the end and it had rusted. Water from the gutter was constantly dripping onto our roof and water had damaged the soffit and side of our house. KGuard gutters are supposed to have a lifetime warranty, so we reached out to K Guard who told us that Gutterman Services is THEIR ONLY distributor in the mid-Atlantic and responsible for any K Guard warranty. We called Gutterman Services and they came out to look and said that the gutter was just "dirty" and that they would "reseal" it for about $300. I said there was clearly a hole but again was told it was just "dirty." I had our handyman look at it who said there was a hole. My brother, a contractor, looked at photos and said there was a hole near the end and that Gutterman probably cut a hole by mistake and then just patched it. I hired another gutter roofing company to come out and evaluate the damage. They took photos and gave us a written assessment, which stated that the gutter slope was incorrect, causing water to flow incorrectly, that there was a hole for a downspout where no downspout could go, and the gutter ends were not sealed. Given this assessment, we reached out to Gutterman Services by email several times but got nowhere. K Guard said that someone named Anne was the owner, but Anne told us she only handled billing. After several emails back and forth we spoke with someone named Sara M. Sara told us a series of un-truths. First, Sara told us that there used to be a downspout where the gutter was. We told her this was untrue because we have the plans for our home's remodel and there wasn't a downspout at the end of the gutter. Sara then said the previous owner was told they needed a downspout but the previous owners didn't want one (also untrue and no downspout could go where the hole was located). Sara also told us that someone from Gutterman Services had offered us a warranty when we bought the house on that section of gutter but we had declined and that Gutterman Services would replace that section of gutter at cost ($1,000+). We told Sara that we expected Gutterman Services to replace the gutter at their cost since it was their poor workmanship that caused the damage to our roof/house; we said we would pay for the cost to repair the house and soffit. We asked Sara in an email if she would provide us with the name of the person she claimed offered us the warranty and said we were going to reach out to the previous owners before making a decision. This was her immediate response: "At this time, after the amount of time spent on the part of my company in trying to give you a solution, it seems clear that you are not going to be satisfied with any solution that we offer you. I believe it would be in the interest of both parties for you to find another company that can better service you. Our estimate to replace the gutter at time and materials cost is rescinded." It is clear to us that Gutterman Services was being dishonest and got caught. We did in fact speak to the previous owner and they said nobody ever spoke to them about the gutters and had NO idea about any of this. Gutterman Services clearly didn't install the K Guard gutter correctly in 2011 and they refused to stand by their work. We hired another company to come out and "repair" the gutter but it will never be right because it isn't a solid piece of metal and it will eventually need to be replaced.

WOW! I can’t believe a roofing contractor this good, this honest, this careful, this courteous, this professional, this experienced—not to mention, this reasonable—actually exists. But Gutterman Services of Sterling, VA, does, and if you need a new roof, you owe it to yourself to contact them. The turret roof on my Capitol Hill house was leaking badly, and Gutterman came to the rescue. The details: roofing bandits had persuaded an elderly previous owner to replace the original (and exceptionally durable) slate tiles on the turret roof with short-lived asphalt shingles—which were now rapidly disintegrating. I wanted to stop the leaks and restore the roof to its original historic condition as required by DC Historic District guidelines. Enter Harold Boosahda, Gutterman’s superb sales technician. He told me he could put new 150-year-lifespan slate tiles from the Buckingham quarry in Arvonia, VA (“Highest quality slate on Earth”) on my roof for a far more reasonable price than what other contractors I contacted were asking for far less durable synthetic materials. Even better: Gutterman stood by its work, offering me a 10-year workmanship warranty. I was impressed. Of the dozens of area roofers tracked by Consumers’ Checkbook, I couldn’t find another one with a 10-year warranty. The best other roofers offered me was 3 years—some only 1-year. And the contract: clear, fixed, clean, tight, and easy to understand. I appreciated this. So, I signed, and the project began. Enter Tony Riggs, Gutterman’s gifted slate roof expert. Leading a crew of consummate craftsmen, he replaced the disintegrating asphalt shingles, installed new Buckingham slate tiles of the type believed to have been used in 1896 on my Victorian-era turret roof and, most importantly, stopped the leaks! And that’s not all: he and his team did a marvelous job of restoring the roof. The slate looks terrific—perfect pattern, fit, overlap, and alignment, and the copper ridge caps beautifully accent and outline the rich blue-black handmade slate. What’s more, Tony—a true and talented artist—restored and reattached the finial ornament to the turret top in a manner that preserved its robust and authentic three-dimensional attitude. And, yes, at the end, neighbors commented not only on how beautiful they found the new roof but how thoroughly Tony’s team had hauled away debris and cleaned up the surrounding area. My wife and I are absolutely thrilled with our new Gutterman slate turret roof!

Excellent. We have a mid century house and wanted box gutters- hard to find companies that will fabricate those for residential projects. Jorge came to our house, took measurements, and discussed a plan with us. They coordinated with our painters so we could get that done at the same time. Amilcar and Luis were accommodating and their craftsmanship was excellent. They even had some extra material which they used to extend our downspout further away from the house in our backyard at no extra cost. Highly recommend.

Long story - I had Gutterman replace my roof and gutters a little over a year ago. There were red flags from the start that I look back at and now kick myself for continuing with their service. The initial person to come out missed so many things that ended up costing thousands more after work had already been started. No turning back at that point and I'm sure this was already known prior to work starting. There was even promise of some areas to repair during this initial estimate visit, but ended up costing more money. Definitely some crafty and/or shady sales tactics to get more money to complete the job right. That or the company is inexperienced in roofs with different levels, pitches and some complexity. The workers destroyed landscaping lights, did not clean up, left multiple areas of the siding and fascia unfinished and did shoddy work with the gutters while saying the job was complete. Luckily the owner came by and pointed out the deficiencies. I was happy for that fact but this also started a chain of events that spiraled down hill in terms of unprofessionalism and unresponsiveness. Over the past year and to this day, there is still an unresolved issue with the gutters that the company is not fixing. They have come out numerous times and claim that they will have a solution and will resolve it. Usually after a few weeks, I end up reaching out to find out status. There have been times that I received no response at all for weeks and had to reach out multiple times. How can I expect the company to honor their warranty if I have a leak in the roof if they are unresponsive. The owner had initially agreed to pay for the landscaping lights that were destroyed. I never got this payment even after asking multiple times. Finally I was paid a year later, but got unprofessional remarks about it. I didn't even make the initial request for the payment, yet I'm in the wrong for demanding someone to honor their word from a year ago. Read some of the negative reviews here and on yelp and you'll see there are similar stories. The positive reviews must be for simple jobs such as basic gutter cleaning. At this point, I'll have to pay more money to hire a reputable, professional and responsive company to resolve my issues and take care of any roofing or gutter needs. I'd advise anyone else to stay away from Gutterman services.

All work complete. First rate. Kudos and my heartfelt compliments to Jose, Iran, and their crews. To a person, everyone was professional, responsive, and had an excellent attention to detail, while getting the work done on time - simply outstanding. From the senior crew leaders, their teams, your project leaders, and the good folks in the back office everyone was first rate - courteous, responsive, professional, and knew their stuff. I don't typically write reviews, but your team and you and their work called for something special and so I write. The house looks great. Our thanks. If we have need again, we will seek you out. Excellent job.

Called and booked the service. They said they would be out in 7-10 days. Almost 2 months later, they reported coming to my house, but reported difficulty in completing the work because of "low water pressure." They said they couldn't wash the patio but would complete the gutters. I never heard back from them at all. I'm assuming they just left. Thankfully they didn't charge either, but I did give them my credit card number at the beginning of this process to reserve service, so it makes me uneasy that a random charge will appear at some point. I booked another company for the service and it was completed in 10 business days at about 70% the price quoted to me by Gutterman. It's a shame. I really had hoped to book several services in their loyalty program thinking it would streamline home maintenance, but I decided against it because of this experience.

The gutter cleaning itself was fine, and the workers were thorough, considerate and professional. The charges were a little higher than those from my usual gutter cleaning vendor, but I was willing to pay extra to get the job done earlier rather than later. The problem came with the billing. When I first scheduled the job, Gutterman asked for and I supplied a credit card number that would be automatically charged when the job was completed. About a day after the job was completed, I received an e-mail from Gutterman that contained an invoice requesting payment. I immediately responded to the e-mail, asking about the status of the credit card that I had supplied to Gutterman, and asking why the card had not been charged automatically, as I had agreed to when they scheduled the cleaning. I received no reply....until about a month later, when Gutterman sent me another e-mail requesting payment. I immediately phoned Gutterman and got connected to the billing department. When I asked why they kept sending me invoices requesting payment instead of charging the credit card number I had already given them, they told me that they had no card number on file, and that the card information probably got lost in the rush of early summer business. I immediately gave Gutterman a credit card number, and requested that they destroy the information after billing the card. I now have to -- again --review credit card statements from the past two months to confirm that Gutterman has not already billed me. My experience identifies a major discontinuity between Gutterman's scheduling and billing operations. It also identifies a lack of responsiveness to e-mail from customers. Given the inconvenience of the billing problem and the lack of responsiveness to my questions about the billing problem, I would not recommend them.

Signed up for the service via the gutterman website. Received a confirmation email. Never followed up to schedule my service.

The guy who came to provide the estimate followed my wife's phoned instructions and requirements perfectly. Their two workers came to do the job earlier than expected, which wasn't an issue b/c they didn't need access inside of the house. They were quick, efficient, and completed the job in a matter of hours.

Very pleased with their work and their professionalism.

The company's response to our inquiry was 100 percent professional, and, once we decided to go ahead with them, the work was done perfectly, with great attention to detail. Jorge Dominquez-Sawao, the estimator, walked us carefully through each of the options for the work we needed, answered questions fully, and was a pleasure do deal with. On installation day, the crew led by Kevin Poole was also first class, working steadily, finishing on time, and cleaning up completely. Kevin came back two weeks later to install our patio door after it arrived from the manufacturer. Kevin not only is a super-competent tradesman, but is a great person as well. It also was a joy to work with the back office people on the telephone as well: polite, friendly, competent, and organized. We'll be recommending Gutterman Services, Inc., to other neighbors and friends!

Foreman (Kevin Poole) and his team (Jaime, Herver & Iran) were very professional and helpful. Their work was great and they cleaned up after themselves. I would highly recommend them.

It went very well. Kevin Poole was awesome, he xceeded expectations on all accounts. Highly recommended.

Crew showed up without notice from office. Luckily, I was home, otherwise outside water might not have been on. Do not like that the front office requests your cc# over phone when you make appointment since they don't give you even an approximate date, especially when they don't call they day before as they promise. Probably would have preferred to pay by check. Why give out your cc# for a one or twice year service. Gutters seem to be cleaned fine, though I doubt any actual inspection is performed as advertised. I would probably use Gutterman on alternate cleanings.

Actual service was fine but took extreamly long to get them to come out

Anthony, Armando and Kevin turned my front porch into a thing of beauty! The columns were rotting and the railings were rusting. They installed new columns wrapped in vinyl and sanded and painted the railings. They did a fantastic job, working very diligently to get all of the old paint and rust off the railings, and finishing off the columns expertly. I am very happy with the result and would recommend Gutterman highly for any work they do.

BUYER BEWARE....I never provide reviews however once again today, after 3 years of having to deal with the water damage to my home and landscaping after a rain storm, I feel compelled. The installation Gutterman's provided went well...however after the first few rain storms when we reached out to Gutterman's to report that we were experiencing issues with water coming down in sheets between the gutters and soffit. We were told it was not their problem, that the issues we were experiencing with the new gutters was occurring because of the roof construction on our home and that if we read the contract they are not responsible. Too bad they couldn't tell me that my roof construction was not optimal for their gutter replacement services before they torn down the original gutter system. We have spent additional money over the years with various roofing/gutter companies to come in and apply band-aid fixes in hopes to put an end to the water damage we experience. Unfortunately none have been a permanent fixes. In the end it appears I'll have to contract to have all gutters that Gutterman's installed replaced.

Wonderful customer service and quality! We have used them for gutter cleaning in the past and contacted them due to a leaking roof. As our roof had some quality issues and this was our fifth leak in five years we opted to get a new roof. Jorge Rodriguez-Sawao came to our home and we walked the property and he pointed out items on our roof and also neighboring roofs. After a long discussion and review of options I did sign a contract. Jorge explained that there was a backlog and he could not give me an exact date at that time but to expect it would be several weeks before the work could be done. This was on December 7 and the work was done on January 16. The Friday before, a team showed up and loaded the materials on our rooftop. On Monday, Brad showed up with his team - Sergio, Ivan, Wilmer, and Fernando. They were all excellent. The roof is beautiful and exactly as described by Jorge. The work began at 7am and was completed around 4:30pm. Brad and I did a walk around the property so that I could see that debris was cleaned up and I could see the roof from all angles. My husband and I are very pleased and highly recommend them. Thanks also to: Jessica Corbin who called me once we scheduled a date and then followed up with an email letting me know exactly what to expect during the roofing process. She also included information on how to safeguard deck furniture and items on walls inside the home. Janelle - my first point of contact when I called about the leaking roof. I had called a few other vendors and could not even get someone to come out and check our roof for a number of weeks. Janelle told me that "water coming into our home was urgent and she would get someone out right away to look at it." Amilcar came out immediately and once the leak was identified, he and his team member secured a tarp on our roof to protect our home until the roof could be installed. Amber Brooks - immediately after I signed the contract she sent me an email outlining the process in great detail and giving me a realistic idea of when to expect completion.

I was not home when the company came, but returned home to clean gutters. I'm not sure if there were any issues or if they saw any areas that needed repair. I did not receive a notice of anything so assumed everything looked good up there.

He did the work, charges well and got it all done. Actually, he was really nice, because I was going to get fancier gutters and he said I didn?t really need them. He saved me money. He put in new downspouts, new gutters, new everything we really needed. He solved a real difficult problem, because my gutters were overflowing & he told me I didn?t have enough downspouts. So, he gave me 2 more downspouts.

I can't thank Gutterman enough for all they did for me! We initially had an estimate to do a complete roof replacement, but then decided to move. Per the home inspection, we had to repair a few places on the roof itself, replace rake boards and fascia, gutters and repair our dormer Windows and wrap it with aluminum. Our buyer was very difficult and even though we had told her the work wouldn't take place until after closing (and agreeing to that!) she put a lot of pressure on us to get the work done early. Jorge and his team pulled through with a miracle and provided all required photos and documentation to our buyer. This is the type of service you always hope to receive, but rarely do.

It was a very positive and professional experience. The sales Representative Mr. Jorge Rodriguez/Sawao was very professional and prompt. The proposal was provided email the same day with pictures of the problems. I was able to send the pictures to my insurance company to speed claim processing. The job was scheduled within 3 weeks. The job included replacement of several pieces of siding to hide the relocation of the HVAC system. The siding matches perfectly even with 10 years of weathering. Because of the type of gutter system I have the team was able to craft a custom piece of metal to support the break. Mr. Amilcar was the lead installer and Mr. Javier supported him. They were on time , professional, polite, explained the custom repair, and completed the installation the same day. They cleaned up every nail and brace and piece of gutter. They even went an extra step and replaced another piece of siding that had a hole plugged in the middle. I am delighted with their performance and would recommend them to anyone. I got 4 prices and they were extremely competitive.

After four weeks, I started calling Gutterman because no one had called to schedule an inspection. Most of the time no one answered the phones, no one returned my messages and finally after many attempts, I reached a woman who said she was the only person handling all the calls and she would try to get someone to call me and schedule by July 21 or 22. It is now July 26 and I still haven't heard from them. I sent two emails indicating that I needed this work done and have received no response. I am appalled as I have never encountered this lack of service and communication with this company before. I am now forced to get someone else to look at their work and pay another person when the gutters still have a free warranty inspection. I guess they no longer have any commitment to their loyal customers--they haven't gotten their money and aren't responding to a warranty job. Obviously they don't have enough people working for them when they can't answer the phone and respond to emails. I would advise anyone considering this company not to hire them. I will not do business with them again.
