Exquisite Designs

It was great! I have been stuck for a few years, not knowing what to do next. I purchased my home as a short sale in 2009 and nearly every room had to be gutted and redone. I became exhausted after one year and ran out of ideas. Paulanne offered wonderful color ideas and new design construction for my double-sided fireplace. All of her recommendations fit with my design styles. I now know how I want to move forward with each room. I am so grateful! 2014 will bring lots of changes and joy!

Sometimes you just need someone to bounce ideas off of and Paulanne is an excellent choice for this. She comes equipped with many decorating ideas, and she is armed with a variety of people to help you get the job done. When I was trying to pick out paint colors, she made sure large paint sheets were sent directly to me to preview. Paulanne was responsive to what my wishes and vision were while injecting her very valuable opinions and ideas. She was very responsive to my price points and was willing to work with whatever budget I had in mind. I would highly recommend Paulanne to help you with your remodeling or decorating project. She is a gem!

Paulanne was superb. She's a great listener, and caught on quickly to my passions and concerns. She was very effective at helping me expand and, as appropriate, narrow available options to ensure the best result. She is experienced and knows the interior design marketplace, which was extremely helpful in making decisions that would achieve the right result in the time we had at a price I could afford. She is smart, has great taste, and is a good person, which is comforting when you're engaged in something so emotionally charged as designing your home and making big-ticket decisions. I would highly recommend her.

I thought Paulanne had excellent ideas and I really enjoyed the consultation. The proposal that she later submitted was fair but we have decided to wait to do the work until after we complete other renovations. I would certainly consider inviting her back.

Paulanne is wonderful to work with. We wanted to remove a wall between the dining room and the family room and also to install a large TV and sound system in the family room which involved changing the fire place. Paulanne came up with ideas to make this work that we really liked and she knows the contractors that we needed to get it done. She managed the whole project, staying on top of everything to make a deadline. She is extremely organized and the contractors like working with her because she knows what she is doing. When the construction was done she helped us pick a new, custom built dining room table that is beautifully made. Also helped with window treatments. I could not have done this without her and gotten a result that we are so happy with. She is very professional and responsive. Whenever we had a question or problem she was on it immediately. I recommended her to friends and one of them is using her services right now and is as happy as I was. I would use her again in a heartbeat.

Linda Kasulis from Exquisite Designs came to my house for 2 hours and made suggestions regarding paint color and sheen for interior painting, and for drapery, hardware and lighting changes in the living and dining rooms, as well as the kitchen. The recommendations were written and color swatchs were sent from the paint company. While the addition of hardwood flooring made a noticeable difference, it was small by comparison to the use of her recommended color scheme, especially the use of an accent color, to the overall presentation and feel of the house. I, and everyone who has seen the design changes has made the same comment-wow, beautiful! It feels alive and warm. Well worth the time and effort. Heartily recommend this designer!

I thought I was good at staging but she did a lot more than I would have done and when my sellers were finished following her direction, the house looked great.

Paulanne and one of her assistants, Linda, performed miraculously. My family was moving to the DC area, and I gave Paulann approximately 2 weeks to design and furnish the most important rooms in our new 7,500 sq. ft house. With respect to the area I told her was most important -- the family room and kitchen -- they created the most incredible space I've seen, tailored specifically to our taste after only brief interactions to establish style and review major pieces and ideas, etc. We operated almost exclusively by email and text, and she and Linda were incredibly responsive and fun under completely unreasonable deadlines. During the move they were on site, ensuring that ongoing deliveries and our own movers were keeping to the plan and, as our existing furnishings arrived, designing on the spot with added staff to do all manner of things for us. As of this review, we are continuing with them throughout the house, but what they accomplished in 2 weeks was astonishing. One might expect this level of service would cost incredible sums, but at every turn they have exceeded my expectations and remained cost conscious with respect to their services, often doing more than I expected. They are certainly not the cheapest design consultants, but they deliver fantastic value. With respect to furnishings and other construction, Paulanne pushed me to spend more than I wanted to in instances that have since paid off in spades. She and Linda, however, also took care to avoid recommending expenditures where unwarranted. I operated on trust and faith in her and Linda, and they more than lived up to that trust. Given the stresses of a family move, they did more than merely help in the interior design of our house; they truly helped make it a home and substantially contributed to our family wellbeing. They worked with each member of our family, including both our children. Overall they exhibited skills and personalities well beyond the ordinary, to say the least. I give them my highest recommendation.

Nice people. I enjoyed them. I found price of referrals marked up too high in addition to the designers hourly fee. Communication not the best and to their credit I was refunded for the hours that were not satisfactory. Sofa was nice but not fantastic. Referral for artist was great but mark - up was expensive. Rod iron was measured wrong and mounts from the wall are the wrong size too. Had to be re-ordered. Gentleman that restore my antiques did a great job.

I was a very concerned about asking for help from an interior design company. I was afraid a designer would inflict his/her own style or a design on me that, while lovely, current, etc., would just not be me. When I saw the deal on Angie's List, I decided to try it because I've been holding off doing any renovations for such a long time out of fear of making a mistake. My experience with Exquisite Designs and Paulanne was very positive and the exact opposite of what I feared. After an initial introductory email, I sent Paulanne some pictures of my very challenging space and she said she would come to my home. She arrived on time and my place Is not easy to find. She is very personable and professional and I was immediately comfortable. She was able to "get" me right away and when she'd make a recommendation, I'd say "that is exactly what I wanted" - I just didn't know it until she said it. I asked her how she did it because her suggestions were so on point. I cannot stress enough how challenging my space is and how great her recommendations are -- and they are not over-the-top or expensive. Her input has made all the difference and I honestly could not do this without her - nor would I want to! I took my daughter with me when I went to the Exquisite Design showroom and my daughter was very impressed with Paulanne's knowledge and ability to pull it all together. She called Paulanne an artist and my daughter is not easily impressed. I will use Exquisite Design's services again and I highly recommend Paulanne and Exquisite Designs. Plus, it was fun!

Paulanne arrived a bit late from our scheduled appointment but Linda had called ahead to let me know. I appreciated that. When Paulanne arrived she immediately went to work asking exactly what I wanted help with, and I had a number of items. She was able to tackle many of them during our consultation. We moved tables from one room to another, she provided a number of other suggestion to move furniture and art work placement. She said she would mail some paint color suggestions for the dining room and entry way. Unfortunately there was a bit of a mix up with paint samples but when I contacted the company they quickly resolved the issues. I think Paulanne is a gifted interior designer who does not push her ideas on the customer. I have already implemented a number of her recommendations and when I have guests they all comment (positively) on the changes. I would certainly use her services again.

When Linda first arrived to give advise on the project and help select colors and ideas, she was professional, helpful and really knew what she was talking about! The whole process has taken approximately 8 weeks and she has always been there to answer questions and to ensure correct work was done by contractors. She had a real eagle's eye for spotting the tiniest faults! There was no major dramas, but when something was not right, Exquisite Design were quick to get onto the issue and resolve it speedily and efficiently. As well as helping me get all the work done that I wanted, Linda has been really helpful in offering up suggestions for other areas and pieces of furniture. Exquisite design have certainly helped me turn my lovely house into a beautiful home!

The colors she picked were ok. She did good. She handled the entire thing.

Paulanne came prepared w/answers to my questions. Answers were geared to my decorating style. Because we had time remaining (I had a 2-hr coupon), she inventoried the entire house (it's small) for future fixes/decorating ideas. Then followed up w/a written list of those ideas along w/paint samples and other helpful info. Very pleased.

I was pleasantly surprised and pleased with the recommendations and suggestions which were made. Paulann provided suggestions to enhance the appearance of the living room and dining room, and further provided ideas on re-arranging some furniture. She also provided some examples of what I could do with my LR and DR drapery and how to avoid removing all wallpaper from the LR and DR walls. I have used this type of service before, albeit with the purchase of new furniture, so I am hard-pressed to say whether the fee is good, too high or reasonable for the type of service. Were I to make a decision to go "full bore" with an interior decorator, I would in all likelihood use Exquisite Designs. I do recommend the service, particularly if the homeowner is just starting out with decorating one's home.

Linda was terrific. I thought we would need more than 2 hours, but in two hours she did it all! I had just moved into my new home and asked her to come and consult on where to place all my paintings and art, etc. and also to check out the way I set up the furniture. I kept all my art in the basement and displayed it so she could see what I had to work with, and in 2 hours she helped me place each piece in a room, marked how high it should be hung with tape, suggested some changes to my furniture arrangements, additions to my decorating, suggested some paint colors for my kitchen, left me with sample paints, and also suggested some new furniture I should add over time when I'm ready. The process and the designer exceeded my expectations, and my place looks fabulous. There was no pressure to buy additional furniture from this particular design firm, which was great. Linda has a passion and a talent for creating beautiful spaces and it shows.

Linda arrived on time for our appointment. We had a conversation before her visit, so she knew we were looking for paint colors. She brought lots of samples and left several with us, so we could order the correct colors. She talked with us about exactly what we were looking for, and how we use the rooms. She gave us suggestions about furniture placement and wall decorations. We were focused on our living room/dining room; however, she also gave us design tips on the powder room, as well as bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs. She was very friendly and informative. She gave us information about some products that her company offers; but there was not a hard sell. We were very pleased with the service she provided. It was well worth the money.

I can't say enough great things about Paulanne! I called about the deal ($150 for 1.5 hours of paint color consultation). Because we were moving, she suggested two appointments - one at the current home to see our furniture, pictures, etc. and a second at the new home to select the colors. At both appointments Paulanne was right on time. She pulled some ideas at our first meeting to make sure I liked the general idea and theme and then refined the colors at the second appointment based on the lighting, existing fixtures, flooring, etc. We are in the new home now and had the entire interior painted with her suggestions. It looks AMAZING!! Paulanne also offers semi-custom drapes at a great price and at my request provided targeted samples. Since then, I have ordered new drapes for 4 rooms and can't wait to see them in the house. I'm sure they will look fantastic!

See above. From our first meeting to Paulanne's visits on-site, she was extremely responsive, courteous, professional and helpful. I wish I knew about Exquisite Designs when I remodeled my kitchen years ago!

Paulanne came out to my house to discuss kitchen renovation ideas. I had done quite a bit of research and knew pretty much what I wanted but was stuck on some design details and basically needed reassurance that the design I had come up with was workable. It was extremely helpful to speak with someone who has a refined eye for detail and who is also not pushy. I managed to ask her for some quick ideas for a couple of other rooms before she left. I also arranged to go out to the showroom and was able to figure out better what materials I wanted to use. All in all Paulanne was instrumental in getting my plans moving again.

It was some of the best money I've spent. I have a very difficult time making design choices and often feel like I've made a mistake and have to redo something. I bought the big deal for 2 hours of design consultation with the expectation that we would get ideas for a particular room in our house. Paulanne came with ideas for that room, and for particular window treatments for windows in the lower levels, bu we also went through the whole house. Paulanne gave ideas regarding paint choices, furniture placement, and lighting. She got a good feel for what our style is and gave ideas that I really liked. She followed up with her ideas in writing. It was a lot of fun to have her here and I would highly recommend this service to anyone as indecisive as I am about design.

It went very well, and they were excellent, they were punctual, she had a great eye for what I needed, and the quality of work was excellent.

The experience has been excellent overall. Paulanne listened very well, was very sensitive to my needs, and was very resourceful and imaginative. She was serious about her work and was generous with her time and thoughts. I’m planning to work with her further for the design of my condo.
