Dry Home was great. They scheduled a time to look at the roof for an estimate very quickly and called in advance when they were on their way over to the house. They provided a written estimate quickly and scheduled a follow-up appointment quickly. When the original appointment was delayed due to Hurricane Sandy they came over 2 days after to complete what was not completely urgent or big price tag repairs. I felt like a very valued customer. I would use these guys again without a doubt.
Description of Work: We needed some help making sure that we did not have a leak in our roof and needed to replace some flashing on the roof.

Super job, roof looks great, I selected an expensive shingle and it really looks great. Got complements from the neighbors. Staff was very helpful.
Description of Work: They came to my house and measured my roof and gave me suggestions for me to select the roofing material I wanted. They were so nice to drop off samples of the shingles I was considering so I could put them up on my roof to see how the color looked on my home. They did this with several color shingles till I was able to select the color I wanted. They did a superior job, taking the old shingles off, repairing the wood sheathing, and removing all debris and used magnetic rake to catch the nails on the ground. Did a wonderful job and I recommended them to my best friend who eventually used them also and they did a super job on his roof also.

Jim Baker, the salesman and crew chief in charge of Sun Tunnels and skylights, came to our home soon after I'd made the initial call to the company. He was friendly, approachable, professional, and thoroughly knowledgeable about what was possible with our truss roof. After the first 15 minutes Jim had talked about the possibilities of our project, we were sure we'd found the right person and company to do the work. With Jim's many years of experience in the building industry and his expertise in skylights, the company's ranking with Velux as a five-star installer, their Angie's List A+ rating and 2011 Super Service Award, A+ Better Business Bureau rating, Consumer Checkbook 95% satisfaction rating (with 115 ratings), and checkmark for high quality, we felt as secure as possible. When we received the proposal and the price (by email and also by snail mail) the prices were reasonable and better than two of the contractors we'd considered previously. After final approval by the Reston, VA HOA Design Review Board, we were able to get the work scheduled with Dry Home. The day Jim and his crew arrived to start the project, we talked again about placement of the skylights. We determined it was best to have the two skylights together with only the truss separating them which meant a different "gutter" mount would need to be ordered and delay the job. Jim was very willing to make the change and reschedule the skylights for another day, and he and his crew installed the Sun Tunnels that first day. They returned a few days later, having rushed the shipping of the new part in order to install the skylights sooner. It took several more days and trips for the drywall to receive multiple coats of mud and sanding, and finally two coats of paint. The finish work is excellent. Jim Baker and his crew were prompt, friendly, meticulous, conscientious and very clean. The office personnel I talked with before and during the process couldn't have been nicer or more well informed. We're thrilled with the skylights and Sun Tunnels, and so gratified to do business with a company who lived up to our best expectations. My husband and I would recommend Jim Baker's work and Dry Home to anyone without reservation. When we need more skylights, a roof, new windows or gutters, we'll definitely call Dry Home.
Description of Work: Dry Home has just completed the installation of two Velux Sun Tunnels in our hallway and two Velux skylights in our Family Room. We couldn't be more pleased with the results---and the entire process of doing business with Dry Home. Because we live in north Reston, Virginia, all architectural changes must be approved by the RHOA Design Review Board. This entailed our doing research to find out what placement of the Sun Tunnel and skylights exterior parts on our roof had the best chance of being approved, getting signatures of three neighbors and approval of our particular cluster Board, and submission of a detailed plan to the DRB. That process took about four-six weeks to complete. Fortunately Dry Home's skylight expert is familiar with the necessity of following the DRB's dictates and is more than willing to comply without a grumble. The DRB made it necessary for all the exterior parts of the tunnels and skylights to be mounted on the back side of the roof, so as not to be visible on the front. These constraints made the project more complicated for the installer, who needed expertise to figure out how to get maximum light for us using only the rear of the roof. The truss roof (manufactured and installed with rafters 24" apart rather than stick built on site 16" apart) meant that the skylights could not be more than the width between the existing trusses and a structural engineer would be required to draw a plan for cutting and bracing them (and add considerable expense) in order to make the skylights wider. Prior to calling Dry Home, we'd had three estimates already from reputable roofing companies, and two of those salesmen had given us incorrect information about cutting into manufactured trusses. The skylight installation would require new drywall on the inside to frame the well formed in the ceiling and also painting.

This was one of the best experiences with a roofing contractor I have had; I had a terrible experience with another large well-known roofing company some years back. Although the price was fairly high, I went with this company because of its reputation. To even get someone to come out and give an estimate took two weeks; the company is that booked. Roberto, very personable and professional, came out and did a thorough check of my entire roof; he noted there were several shingles on the regular roof that needed to be replaced, as well the vent caps needed to be updated. He did not try to sell me more than I needed. Within two days I received an estimate via e-mail. My only hiccup to this point was that I couldn't get in touch with the person who wrote up the actual estimate (not Roberto), as I wanted to go over in detail what was to be done, and I had to go back and forth via e-mail with the office manager to get the office estimator to call me back. It took about three weeks to get the job done once I signed and mailed the contract. I was contacted about ten days prior to the scheduled work. I was told to expect delivery one day, and the work to be completed the next. True to word, the materials were delivered as promised, neatly stacked and covered by my driveway, and the work began the next morning promptly on time. The crew was very professional, and they all knew what to do. Unfortunately, they only spoke Spanish, so it took a few attempts to get some questions answered, but that did not detract at all from the excellent job they did. There was a lot of debris from the removal of the cedar shake--wood splits, sawdust, nails, aluminum siding, flashing, etc. The crew contained the mess to a localized area, and when the work was done and they drove off, you would not have been able to tell that a roof had been replaced just hours earlier. This company definitely knows its roofing business, and it is good at it. Even though the price was high, I guess you get what you pay for--and, in my case, it really was quality. Of course, I'll post again once we have some torrential rains and snowstorms--if I get a leak. Somehow I highly doubt I'll have to write anything negative.
Description of Work: The cedar shake roof on our addition had to be replaced. When the addition was built, that contractor had used non-treated thin cedar shake that deteriorated over the years. Dry Home had to replace the whole addition roofing. The old cedar shake had to be removed down to the wood sheathing. New winterguard, had to be added, as well as new venting. All materials were removed. In addition, several odd cedar shake pieces on my house roof were replaced, as well as new caps put around all the vents.

DryHome pulled up my deck boards and flashed/taped the deck areas along the back wall of the home. They also replaced two small roof areas on each side of the chimney that also contributed to the leaks. The work DryHome did alleviated any leaks that were coming in from the deck area and from the two roof areas. Steve and his team did a good job and provided valuable and answers and feedback to my home improvement questions.
Description of Work: I have had a basement leak since I moved in to my home around an empty chimney. The leak normally showed up during heavy rains and to varying degrees. I contracted DryHome to come out check the flashing at the deck and to replace two small roof areas on the side of my chimney, under the deck.

It was a pleasure working with DryHome - all questions were answered immediately, and in many cases, they stopped by the house so they could personnally explain the answers. The work was exactly as proposed. The work took 3 days - very large roof on a very large house, plus 4 skylights and new gutters / downspouts. They covered plants and windows - nothing was hurt when all the work was done. One of the best things about DryHome was the clean-up - at the end of each work day they cleaned the area so well you hardly knew they had been there. The DryHome crew was definitely well organized, and obviously well orchestrated - they seemed to have the work rolling at all times. In the end we now have a beautiful new roof, new skylights that are bright and well insulated, and large gutters and downspouts that perfectly match the house. DryHome was a pleasure to work with, had a fair and reasonable price, and performed in the most professional manner possible - would highly recommend.
Description of Work: Had the roof, skylights, gutters, and downspouts replaced. Everything is now professionally installed and 22 years newer.

Dry Home Roofing provided exceptionally professional, efficient, and quality service from start to finish. They were very responsive to our inquiries and request for an estimate, provided comprehensive information on their services and a straightforward assessment of the condition of our gutters (including informing us that some of the gutters we had considered replacing did not require replacement), and scheduled and completed the work to our satisfaction in a prompt and professional manner. Dry Home Roofing has excellent customer service throughout the process - from initial inquiry through final billing - and they do fantastic work. We would gladly use them again and have already referred them to others.

Very pleased with the service we received from the first phone call to the final inspection. Joe Murden was very pleasant and quickly provided a proposal for the work. He was obviously more than just a salesman; he has worked on installation, too. He provided practical guidance as to the level of shingles we should put on our roof. (There are many choices.) DryHome's price was several thousand dollars less than another provider from whom we received a quote for the same work. The installation crew arrived as expected and worked until after 7 p.m. the first day. They arrived early the second day and completed their work just a couple hours before the expected rain storm arrived. While they did not say so, I think they worked extra long the first day so that they would be able to finish before the storm. We had very heavy rain the afternoon they finished the installation. I was most grateful that they did a great job on our three skylights. To install the new roof and flashing, each of the skylights had to be lifted and replaced. The heavy rains gave everything a real test and the new roof did great.

Everybody was efficient, professional, and polite throughout. It could not have gone more smoothly, and I am very pleased with my new roof. DryHome is an excellent company. Five men came and go to work immediately. The whole roof was done in one day, and then a day or so later, three more guys came to install new gutters and downspouts. That was done in less than 2 hours. Excellent cleanup by both crews. Thank you, DryHome!

Overall our experience with DryHome Roofing & Siding could not have better. Everyone was polite, professional and conscientious in their work. We appreciate the small extras that the workmen allowed - for instance, hanging reflective ribbon on our siding to detract the woodpeckers that had been pecking on our house. We like the way that DryHome handles their final inspection and payment. We will enjoy our beautiful cedar shake roof until we have to replace it with asphalt shingles that look like cedar - our insurance company will no longer offer a quote on houses with a cedar shake roof. If you are thinking of obtaining a new homeowners policy, I recommend calling your insurance company about coveraage for cedar shake roofs.

DryHome was one of three companies we called for estimates to replace an existing, double layer, roof. It proved be be a great experience from our initial call for an estimate to the handshake after final inspection. Joe, Steve, and Benny were great to work with, understood a unique timing problem we had and were willing to accommodate us in their schedule. Joe, our salesman, was prompt in his appointment, explained many things to us (including possible options), was timely in sending the proposal, and answered several questions we had before we signed and returned the contract. While we were waiting for installation, Joe kept us informed as to status and served as our 'guiding light". Installation occurred several days after the shingles were delivered. The crew arrived earlier than expected and completed the project in one day. Cleanup was as smooth and flawless as the rest of the operation. Benny was the crew chief. He was a dedicated, but easy to work with, processional. Steve was our office contact. He was very responsive and quickly resolved the only question we had before final payment. Their proposal was not the lowest of the three we received but our comfort level with DryHome far exceeded the others who responded. It remained equally high throughout --and now after-- the job. We would not hesitate to recommend DryHome to others.

DryHome was the third of three companies from whom we asked for an estimate. All were recipients of the Superior Service Award from Angie's List. Of the three companies, Joe Murden provided us with the most thorough understanding of the condition of our existing roof, our options for its replacement, our options for ventilation, and the process and costs involved. In fact, we went back to the two previous contractors to ask questions about issues and options they had not mentioned. In particular, Joe raised the possibility that we would have to replace the 3/8" plywood completely because of deterioration and the change in code to 1/2" That was not an insignificant expense, but it would have been much worse to learn of it on the day of installation. The bottomline was that DryHome's estimate fell between the other two, exceeding the lowest by $700. However, given the trust that Joe created in his communications with us, we were most confident in DryHome's ability to do an excellent job. We knew we were in great hands. Our outstanding experience continued with Marko Paivarinta and his crew. Installation was scheduled promptly and we were well prepared as to what to expect. We cannot imagine a smoother, more efficient, quicker or cleaner process. We were amazed that the project was completed in eight hours. And we continue to be amazed that we have only found very, very minor bits of debris since. We consider the installation to have been impeccable. And we appreciated the follow up inspection DryHome conducted one week after installation. It was just an added confirmation of the quality of the work. Now we look at our roof and are just delighted. Yes, it looks great. But we could not appreciate it this much without the outstanding customer service experience provided by DryHome. We do not hesitate recommending them.
Description of Work: DryHome replaced our entire roof including the plywood layer. To do so they had to strip two layers of shingles. In conjunction with the installation they installed a ridgeline vent and eave vents to improve ventilation in the attic

The sales person was very professional. He came out and looked at the roof and provided an estimate as well as literature on different types of roofing materials. By looking in the attic, we saw that we needed to replace a few of the sheets of plywood that were cracked by the tree. The crew worked very fast - perhaps too fast. After they were done, I noticed that they did not replace the plywood. I had them come back out to look. The person who came out tried to convince me the cracked plywood was no big deal. I had to be firm and demand they fix the problem. They did agree to fix it and they did so fairly quickly.

I used DryHome prior to this and was very pleased. I needed someone to come to my home and provide an estimate for repairs and installation of a fan. I attempted to call, the message stated that I needed to go online and submit my request which I did. A person called and left a voicemail for me. Response from DryHome Roofing & Siding Inc
To date, DryHome continues to receive positive comments from our customers on our service. Unfortunately, September of 2011 was a month like no other. Due to weather that was beyond our control – an earthquake and record breaking rain fall - we had close to 150-200 calls per day. We did our best to take as many calls as we could, retrieve messages and return phone calls. We did contact this customer and left a message and due to the number of calls at that time, we had to move on to the next customer trying to help as many as we could. We greatly appreciate our customers that continue to use DryHome and regret any bad experience she may have incurred. Unfortunately, we had no foresight – we can only look back and try to better how we handle an event like that in the future.

They were responsive, prompt, and professional as any service contractor I have encountered. A person came out for estimate, he was there 10 minutes early, he said he'd email me the quote, it was there the next day. He called me to ask about any questions on the estimate. When I had him proceeded with the work, he called to let me know that he got my check deposit. He scheduled it, called me to let me know several days in advance to confirm when they were going to come in, came out within 5 minutes of arrival time and left promptly, everything was cleaned. The price was half of what other contractor was about to charge. I will continue to use this provider again in the future.

This was the fourth time they've done work for us. Each time they arrive exactly on time. I scheduled with the company for them to do the repairs and they showed up the day they said they would, they did the work and there was no trash or evidence of them having been there except the shiny new vent collars. I was charged what they quoted and on the next rain storm I had no issues.
Description of Work: I called and left a voice mail and it took them a day to call me back but i am so glad they did. The estimator was on time and was thorough and professional. I had a leak and he inspected my roof inside and out and said all I needed were new collars and caulking around all of the plumbing vents. He even looked in my gutters and said they were clear and well attached. He didn't try and up sell me on anything I didn't need but answered when I asked about the solar tubes they also install.
