DryHome was very good to work with. They worked with us on the estimate and the scope of the work that needed to be done. Very patient with us as we asked a lot of questions and wanted to fully informed of the work that was going to be done, the color of the shingles, the quality of the shingles and the plywood, and the finishing touches to include drip edge and ridge vents. They provided addressed for us to go to look at the color and type of shingle we were considering. On the day they scheduled the work they were on time and went right to work. The supervisor was there and explained everything that was going to be done. They work crew worked all day long and got the roof done by the end of the day. The yard was cleaned up and there was little evidence that they had been there after they finished the job and left.
Description of Work: Replaced the entire roof to include the plywood.

It went very well. He showed up earlier than expected since he was in the area doing another job, which was a bonus. Very thorough in explaining the issue and how it should be fixed, and even showed me the old pipe collar after the repair (it was seriously cracked, apparently an issue in our area). All in all, did a very good job and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again for other roofing issues as they arise.
Description of Work: There was water coming in through our master bathroom window. DryHome came out to inspect the issue and, after checking our attic, saw that water was coming in through a pipe collar that needed to be replaced, as well as the shingles surrounding it.

It hasn’t leaked since and the work went smoothly. I would recommend their service to others. My neighbors also used them and were was also happy with them and they actually recommend them to me as well.
Description of Work: When it would rain I would have rain running down the front of my fireplace. They repaired the roofing around the chimney which most likely sealing and flashing work. They needed to remove quite a bit of calking from a previous poor job by they builder and different service provider.

They hired out the work. They come over and they give the estimate. I thought the workmanship was good, but I had a little bit of a problem with the person that came out and gave me the initial estimate. We had a little misunderstanding on what was going to be done. They were good. I love the guys that came out. I thought they were very professional, they were timely and they did a good job. They cleaned up. I thought they were wonderful. I wasn't crazy about the guy that came out and did the actual estimate. They had done my original roof, so when they came out they installed a new ridge vent as well. The price was average.

I called DryHome Roofing last week to get an estimate on a new roof. The appointment was scheduled for 4PM on7/22/13, and the estimator, Ben Burnie, arrived about twenty minutes late. Not a big deal because he did call and say that he was going to be late. He asked why we were looking to get a new roof, and I told him that we had a small leak and that it has stained the ceiling in one of our bedrooms, and that it was also nearly twenty years old. He then asked if we had any other estimates. I told him that we have been doing are due diligence and getting several estimates... Mr Burnie then told me that they would not be the lowest price - that there were a lot of low ball roofing businesses in the area. I never mentioned being concerned about a price. I just wanted an estimate. He asked to go up to the attic, which he did and made some notes. He used my ladder to get up to the attic, and when he came down, he carried it down stairs and was headed out the door with my ladder before I stopped him. He then said that he would go outside and inspect the roof. He never removed a ladder from his truck, and came back to the door after about two minutes. He then proceeded to tell me that he knew we would not use him so he was not going to bother writing up an estimate. He again stated that he would be in the mid to upper range of our other estimates and the job would be between $12,000 to $13,000, implying that he would not waste his time in writing us an estimate. I didn't even know how to reply to that, but didn't have to because he jumped into his truck and left. I should also note that he never bothered to inspect the water damage in the bedroom that I mentioned earlier. Never before in my life in dealing with contractors have I witnessed anyone as unprofessional as Ben Burnie. I would question any company that would hire this guy. My suggestion to anyone considering this contractor is to not walk away from DryHome, but to run, and never look back.

Response from DryHome Roofing & Siding Inc
We appreciate the feedback from this homeowner. Ben did use the step ladder for the attic inspection which was already set up for him. The homeowner had informed Ben that he was the 9th and final company to look at his home. Realizing that he was the last estimator, he politely carried the ladder downstairs for the homeowner. Knowing there were 8 other companies who had looked at the roof Ben was trying to get an understanding of what the homeowner was looking for; were their concerns about price or perhaps warranties, materials etc.? Assessing how we could be different and trying to find out as to why he thought he needed to get so many quotes. After the attic inspection Ben did go out to look at the roof and at that point he did take pictures and measured the perimeter of the house. The roof was steep and very high off the ground. He decided to get a satellite image measurement which is a safer way to measure a roof. DryHome values its employees and pulls an Eagle View Aerial report so not to risk their safety. Ben did talk to the homeowner afterwards and felt that per their discussion it was agreed upon by both parties that he would not be sending an estimate.

We had a leaky roof in a couple of areas. David Spencer from DryHome came out and spent a good amount of time looking at the roof...going into the attic...taking pictures and explaining everything to us. He was very nice, extremely knowledgable and spent time answering our questions. We got a quote from him and he patched our large leak while we decided which contractor to go with, which was free if we were to go with them or would cost us their regular fee if not. This gave me peace of mind and that is the kind of contractor I like to do business with. David brought by a color sample for us so we knew what the roof would look like. The quote was very thorough and gave a listing of reference homes near us which we were able to ride by and take a look at. We did not feel pressured to go with any upgraded shingle but we decided to go a level up because we want this roof to last many years. We've used DryHome for at least six or more years for regular maintenance and have been very happy. The scheduling rep Marko was very nice and helpful and answered our questions. The roof install was seamless...the guys were here when they said they would be and the roof was completed in two days because it was a big job. With the hundreds of roofing nails all around the house from the removal of the old roof, we only found a couple nails....the cleanup they did was amazing. Our trees and bushes were not harmed. A few days later they sent a rep, Beny, to do a quality inspection of the roof. There was one area we were concerned about on the chimney that he fixed that day. The roof looks fantastic and we feel better when it rains. We will definitely work with them again when we need to and have referred several people to them. Great job!
Description of Work: Replace entire roof of 3000 sq ft home and a few boards under roof. Removed old roof. Cleaned up entire area. Came back for a final inspection.

See other comments. Job well done, no leaks or problems noticed so far. Its been about 1 month with a few rain storms.
Description of Work: My roof had a very slow hidden leak that caused a piece of the roof sheathing wood to have a blackish spot. After getting estimates from other roofers, DryHome was the only one that gave options to replace or fix the areas and suggested a fix may be a good solution given the state of my roof (which is what I thought since I didn't have any other issues). About 8 square feet of wood and underlayment were replaced and new shingles put on. I also had new wood, shingles, and pipe cover/flashing installed on a bathroom vent pipe since that showed similar signs of wear. Lastly, I had fascia trim on the top rakeboard replaced as a storm had pulled it away and it was temporarily nailed back until this permanent fix. The job took about 4 hours for 3 workers and it went smoothly. I needed another piece of aluminum facia rakeboard replaced once the job started since the color I choose did not match exactly which the workers did without problem.

It's hard to figure out an appropriate review for Dry Home. Their sales person Ben came to the house to provide us with an estimate for roof and window replacement. He showed up on time and was very friendly but didn't actually provide any estimates. He asked what we wanted done, did a quick visual inspection of the windows, and then asked us who else we had gotten estimates from. We told him the names of the companies but not what their estimates were or whether we had any top candidates as we were still pretty early in the process. He knew several of the companies and basically said his preliminary "estimate" was that Dry Home's cost would be somewhere between what company A had estimated and what company B had estimated. He also gave us his opinion of the other companies which was somewhat helpful as it confirmed our own experiences, although I think a little unusual for him to offer that. He said if we were really interested in working with Dry Home they could come back and do formal measurements to give us a real estimate. On the one hand I thought his approach was interesting, why waste time if he thinks he will most likely lose out to a known competitor with similar quality but lower costs. But on the other hand how do you expect to win any business with that type of approach? Depending on the extent of everything we end up having done the cost would be in the $15-$20k range which I think is a decent chunk of money so I was surprised they didn't take our project more seriously. We decided not to move forward with them so I can't speak to the quality of their work or anything, just the estimating process.
Description of Work: No work performed. They came out to give us an estimate for replacing our roof and all our windows but we never really ended up getting an actual estimate.

Response from DryHome Roofing & Siding Inc
I didn’t meet with the author of this Member Comment. I met with her husband. He and I discussed his roof and window project. He had already gotten 12 other estimates from 6 other companies and was filling out a spreadsheet comparison. He appeared overwhelmed with all his window quotes. I offered to assist in comparing ‘apples to apples.’ We sat down and reviewed all his estimates for over an hour. He agreed that another estimate wouldn’t be needed as he had already decided on a brand of window and company. He said he appreciated the help in deciphering the various contract proposals. I was glad to be of assistance and he thanked me as I left.

I had a challenging flat roof problem. Jim Baker with Dry Home was very helpful in coming up with a solution. This required a bit of "outside the box" thinking. He was very honest about expectations and difficulties that the project involved. Several contractors that I spoke with immediately refused to consider tackling the problem. Through several consultations, Jim was patient and professional in helping me to learn what I needed to know about the project. Dry Home showed up when they said they would, did excellent work and thoroughly cleaned up afterward. I am completely satisfied with my experience and grateful for their willingness to work with my specific needs.

I learned that my roof might not be in good shape when some painters working on my eaves noticed some of the trim was rotten and when they investigated it noticed that the plywood on the roof was mushy. They suggested I have someone look at this. I did. The initial quote was vast in scope and hugely expensive. I simply couldn't afford it. I knew of Dry Home's reputation because of Angie's List and reviews in the Best Pick Reports 2012-Fairfax County. Also seeing signs in my area that they were doing roofing. I called them in early December. Due to hurricane damage in the areat, call volume was high. When I called the main number at Dry Home, I was directed to a web site to enter my request and contact information with an apology and a promise by DH to return the call asap. My call was returned the next day. Due to conflicts with my schedule, an appointment was not set up until December 21. The representative was prompt, courteous, and informative. He had a professional background in building industry. He listened to my situation. He examined and measured my roof. He explained possible courses of actions for my roof, what was essential if there was no need to replace all sheathing and what to expect if they did. He explained the process and the time line. He showed me choices of material and what would give me value. He suggested an attic fan since I didn't have one. I knew they were a good idea but as this is an older home it didn't originally have one. The approximate cost of having an electrician hook up the fan was also disclosed as they do not connect the wires). All the flashings were replaced. They check to see if pets are around so you know to keep them indoors and out of harms way, gates closed. The big day arrived. My only job had been to make sure that patio furniture, big pots, etc. be moved away from the house. They arrived early and ready to go. They prepped the area and got started. As it turned out my roof was a soggy disaster and the job took 2 days. Aside from the tapping sound inside and the vehicles and equipment outside, you wouldn't have known the crew was there. The were quiet, courteous, and moved with speed that was highly efficient and practiced. Afterwards they cleaned up every scrap of debris that had escaped and used a magnetic rake to maximize cleanup. And if you have read this far a word about my first impression of the crew. They arrived early morning promptly-not within a "4hr window".They all had nice haircuts and were clean shaven, They had on proper work cloths in good repair. They had on good work boots. They had proper tools, ultra neat organization. They were pro's

Dryhome was responsive to my call and setting up the appointment. Responsiveness, punctuality, and professionalism we an 'A'. Roberto called before arriving, was professional, and arrived on time. Unfortunately, in our neighborhood, the builder used subpar shingles and every homeowner has repeated issues with damaged shingles when winds are even slightly elevated. This will be the 6th time I need a repair on our roof since the house was built in 2006. Typically, 3 to 8 shingles are damaged anytime we have a storm with high winds. The prior 5 repairs have been between $125 and $275, and were completed by 3 different people. It is always a new area on the roof, as well. The last one was $275 and included 4 shingle replacements, and 8 pieces of siding replaced. I always have the materials for the contractor, as I did this time. Unfortunately, my last repairman moved away from the area. * I understand your minimum charge is $275, so since I've had 5 prior repairs for less than that amount, I was willing to pay upto $275. Once I was told, "It will be more than $275," I did not need to hear anymore. I am aware $275 would provide plenty of profit for 7 shingles, when I have the materials. * In fact, a smart contractor would drive around the neighborhood and see that about 1/4 of the homes have shingle issues and would offer a couple days when they would come out and do repairs on all the houses for, let's say, $200 for upto 8 shingles. What you would get is a couple days of work with a lot of homeowners, in one community (very efficient), that may also consider you for full roof replacement in the near future. I will find someone in line with my prior cost for repairs.

After seeing Dry Home on Angie's List and Fairfax County's best providers, I requested an estimate. They sent a sales person within several days. He was prompt and very courteous and professional. Unlike a previous sales person from another company, he inspected my entire house, including the attic to see if there was any water coming from the roof. (There was none). To the extent he could, he inspected the roof, including the shingles that had come off. The roof was original and was almost 20 years old. He explained why the shingles were coming off, due mostly to the way they were stapled on. He also inspected the gutters and could see they had pulled away from the roof. My biggest surprise was when he gave me the estimates! For both the roof and gutters (no downspouts, they were good) he quoted $3,600, which was less than half the cost of estimates I had received. One roofer gave me a quote of $7,500! I was already impressed with their reviews on both Angie's List and the Fairfax County's Best. Also impressed with the thorough exam of my house. I contracted that day to have the work done (also mentioned Angie's List and got a $150 discount). I was not here when they did the work, but they completed the roof in one day and followed up the next day with the gutters. It was an easy job with no surprises - although he warned me they might have to replace a small amount of the plywood if needed. (Did not need to be done.) They followed up 2 weeks later with a final inspection and cleanup, if needed (it didn't). I would recommend this company to anyone who needed work done on their roof or gutters. They are very professional.

My roof is 20 years old and I was concerned about its state because of its age - not because of any experience with problems. I requested that Dry Homes take a look at its condition and give me an estimate of what a new roof would cost. The gentleman arrived promptly, took pictures of the roof's condition, explained what could be done to give me another year or two of wear, and provided me with a cost for the repair job plus a ballpark figure for roof replacement so that I could plan accordingly. The repairman arrived promptly in a few days, made the repairs, and left no mess behind. I will plan to use DryHome Roofing for the full roof replacement in the future. I have several friends who have used them and they have been very pleased with the work and professionalism of this company.

They did a great job replacing my gutters with larger capacity, since the builder grade was overflowing in moderate rain. The gutters look good and we now have no drainage issues. The also covered all trim with vinyl wrapped aluminum, which makes that house look 20 years newer, and no more painting! I would recommend this to anyone.
