Five stars for Diamond Renovations. 14 years ago they installed new windows and two patio doors at my house in Sugarland Run. A very large pane of tempered glass recently suffered a spontaneous fracture. If I am reading the manufacturers warranty correctly this type of break may be covered up to 20 years. I reached out to Julie for some information and she took it upon herself to contact the distributor and manufacturer on my behalf and provided guidance through the submission of a claim. Thank you Julie for personal customer service above and beyond.

Flat roof was installed improperly. Although they are called flat roofs, there is always a slight incline on a flat roof so that water will run off. (1/8th inch of slope per foot). The roof is absolutely flat or inclines towards the center of the roof or towards the house depending on where you place your level. Also, there is a lip around the enitre outside edge of the roof that is 1/2 inch high. This means that before any water will start to run off the roof, it has to be more than 1/2 inch deep. It also means that after any significant rainfall, 1/2 inch of water is just sitting on the entire roof surface until it has opportunity to evaporate. It is a certain recipe for drastically shortening the life of the roof and is an open invitation to add water damage to your home. The contractor has known about the issues with the flat roof since March 21, 2012 and has yet to remedy the deficiencies. The structure supporting the flat roof was also replaced and azec trim was added. The workmanship on this area (our front porch) is hideous. The installer used the wrong fasteners (is supposed to have a full round head, not the tiny finish nails) and also used way to many fasteners. If you check the azec web page you'll see that the company directs that "2 fasteners are to be used for every framing member when installing a trim piece that is 8 inches wide". On one piece of trim on our porch that is 10 inches square, there are 18 fasteners!!! And the rest of the porch reflects the same installation technique. It's a sick mess. One of the major selling points of the azec product is that you don't have to paint it. My wife and I were counting on this feature. But because of the unbelievable amount of nail holes throughout the entire structure, the only way the porch would begin to look professionally finished is to paint and, in so doing, cover up the absolute mess left behind by the day workers hired by Diamond renovations.I have asked for these issues to be addressed. The contractor refuses to do anything. After two unsuccessful attempts to install french doors opening to the deck behind our house, the contractor abandoned the project, refusing to complete the work. The first installer did such a poor job, that after the passage of 2 hours of time, the doors were essentially "walls with attached doorknobs". ie the doors were so racked we couldn't open or close them. That installer was fired and a second installer was sent out, who said to me during the middle of the job that he couldn't understand the directions for installing the doors. The contractor referred to this installer as a "Master Carpenter"? He made so many mistakes in measuring and cutting that neither set of accompanying storm doors could be installed. (ie we now had to order replacement parts) He also damaged the doors so that two panels and many parts of said doors have to be replaced. He also installed spray insulation foam around the doors that now must be removed because the foam never stops expanding and it voids the warranty on the doors. As I said before, the contractor abandoned this project. There are also numerous punch out items for the roof and siding that have yet to be addressed and it has been months and months since the contractor has been on the site. As for the quality of the install on the roof and siding, only time will tell. It's been a very painful learning experience, (and it's far from over). Please don't make the same mistake. The service date above only reflects the last email sent. We have been struggling with this contractor since the fall of 2010. Also the only other review for this contractor on this list (atleast when I last checked) was submitted by the contractor and is a false postive. (read it...you'll be able to read inbetween the lines)

Julie Windsor, the owner and sole representative of Diamond Removations, is one of the most intensive, detail oriented, creative, intellectual possible. She examined everything and was scrupulously honest and reported all damage accurately making sure the descriptions were detailed, including many drawings and pictures whenever possible. When our insurance person was finally able to schedule our home, he was not only very experienced and skilled but also duly impressed with the insight and detailed descriptions of what the damage was, how significant, and specified where it started and stopped so as to not cause any extra cost. As you can imagine, or possibly remember, even after the contract was signed, getting the attention of folks at the insurance center to authorize and acknowledge the work completed and any additional information was an extraordinary feat. Julie worked tirelessly sending lots and lots of information, descriptions, additional drawings, and pictures to validate the work being done, still in process, and detail of what has been done. Our home is now better than new since our insulation is more complete and the outside is beautiful due to the care and precision of matching colors, design, and visual appeal. The work was completed on time and exactly to the amount agreed upon. Julie Windsor is the consumate professional in regards to understanding what needs to be done drawing from many years of experience, but also her absolute insistance on professional work including the finishing processes. Her dignity, integrity, and business ethics are amazing.
Description of Work: Near the end of 2011 when those devistating rains hit the Leesburg area followed quickly by Hurricane Irene, our home in Potomac Station sustained a significant amount of damage. If you remember, there were literally thousands of homes all over the East Coast damaged and I presumed that finding a contractor that was reputable and not already overwhelmed with work was a challenge. Fortunately, I was a member of BNI (Business Networking International), the Northern Virginia (NOVA) Loudoun Business Alliance which offered me that occasion to meet Julie during a meeting of that amazing organization. She was immedately impressive with her sincerety, honesty, use of words, and professionalism. As soon as I truly evaluated our problem I found her card and called to arrange an appointment. Almost immediately the call was returned and we began our discussions. Julie Windsor owns a small business entitled Diamond Renovations. Julie Windsor is one of those people that takes her business extremely seriously. Her people skills, incredible knowledge of the home repair business from both a structural and business perspective, and extraordinary work ethics immediately impressed my wife and myself who are sometimes very cautious and skeptical of organizations in that arena and have time to come out when there is work everywhere. She brought a skilled and experienced assistant with her to listen to what we had to say, make sure that all the information she needed was mentioned, and then proceeded to go around the house, even having her worker bring out a ladder to look under the shingles. They found, not to the surprise of anyone, not only significant water damage but extraordinarily lax workmanship in construction. Due to the fact that more rain was expected, she and her worker did their best to protect the exposed area and replace the siding as a temporary protective covering. We signed the contract and asked her to be our contractor. It was one of the best choices we have ever made.
