The estimate went well. We just decided to paint it ourselves. We had no issues with the estimate or pricing. The estimator was very nice and professional.

The estimate went well. The pricing was a little on the high side, so I decided not go with them. They only use the most expensive paint, which not good in every situation.

I had a good interaction with them. They were able to give me an estimate via email based on the measurements I gave. The only thing that kept me from hiring them was the timing. They said they were able to get to do the work within 5 days, but I needed it sooner. The interaction was very positive and would consider them for future work.

The estimate went fine. The guy who came out was nice and professional. I do not plan on having the work done just yet. I have had them out for estimates in the past. Their prices are slightly higher than some others, but they are very professional and would give them an opportunity to do the work.

They were very professional, quick with the work. The paint job looks wonderful. They are always polite. They were great with their scheduling. They came out the next day to paint my kitchen. They get you scheduled pretty quickly. They can help you with paint color if you need it. They first send the estimator to get a bid and they are accurate with their estimates. I usually had a crew of about 2 or 3 people. They do a great job with clean up after the job.
Description of Work: I have used them more than once. They have painted most of the interior of my house.

Upon my return from Iraq, with three weeks off before having to return to work, we contracted with Certa-Pro for what was supposed to take a crew no more than a week to complete. We specified nail pop repairs, special paint on the bathroom ceilings that would be regularly exposed to steam from the shower, and accepted all of their recommendations with regard to paint selection, number of coats, and paint finish. The company sent out a rep to do the quote and, for the work we discussed, we believed it was fair. Everything discussed was clearly documented and we looked forward to the facelift the paint would hopefully provide in our home. When the crew arrived we went over the same expectations, as documented, and they were off. As the work in rooms became more and more completed, it became clear that (a) they were not repairing nail pops in the manner that that the company rep had assured us they would be (b) they were using the wrong paint finish on the trim and ceilings, and (c) they were not properly prepping the walls prior to painting, which resulted in poor coats on walls that would need to be redone. When we pointed this out to the crew chief, he stated he would not be repairing the nail pops in the manner the company had agreed, as it would take him too much time, (b) the crew was in fact using the wrong paint in several areas and these areas would need to be repainted, and (c) this is how he has always prepped the walls and for the amount of money he was paid by Certa-Pro, could not afford to do much more as far as prep. I also learned that this in fact was not a Certa-Pro crew at all. Instead, it was a contract crew that Certa-Pro hired for the job. I learned that, generally speaking, all of their crews were contract, not employees. This started a back and forth with the owner that resulted with this crew walking off the job at the end of the week and a new (contract) crew coming in to essentially re-do the job. Week two, the second crew started, which began with a walk-through and discussion of what had not been done properly the first time, and the crew chief's assurance that they would rectify the situation. This crew also struggled with the ability to identify emerging nail pops that were clearly evident and needed to be repaired, and the difference between flat and semi-gloss paint. What made this extra interesting was that no one on this crew could communicate in English, so as I watched new issues crop up, I needed to call the crew chief who was working on a different job, explain the issue, and then hand the phone to one of his workers in order to have it corrected. This crew had different individuals each day on the job as this contractor had different jobs he was also working and needed the initial guys on the other jobs. Overall, the one week paint job that we agreed on and paid for was done not by Certa-Pro, but by a company we did not hire that Certa-Pro contracted out, involved several re-work efforts to address nail pops and incorrect paint selection that should have otherwise been second nature to a professional painter, and such a poor overall experience (and overall quality of work)that we would never have them back in our home for any reason, even for the repairs punch list that we worked up. When I spoke to the owner (not sure if the old one or new one, as mentioned in one of Certa-Pro's responses), he seemed somewhat indignant and really could not grasp why the nature of the work was less than acceptable, that extra time out of anyone's life while Certa-Pro tried to get its act together was unacceptable, and that I would be anything other than grateful because he sent a new crew to essentially re-do the job. I chose Certa-Pro due to an expectation that it was a name brand company and that I would get name brand results and service. I did not. For me, the lessons learned include having a Plan B company quoted and in the wings in the event your first choice does not bring their A-game, ask if they are actually doing the work themselves or if they are simply planning to hire the work out to anybody with a brush and van that purports to be painters, and insist on a crew that includes one or more individuals who can communicate in English. I assumed this would be the case with Certa-Pro. I was wrong. I am a recent Angie's List member, so forgive the lateness in posting this experience, but poor work is poor work, whenever it was done. I do hope the new owner has adjusted Certa-Pro's policies to address these challenges which I experienced. If nothing else, I hope my lessons learned provides insight to others.

The quote was for one coat of paint with the understanding that even though they recommend two coats, since they will be using top of the line paint, it shouldn't be a problem to get proper coverage with one coat. Every day when I came home the first thing I was told is that it needed a second coat. The work that I saw was worse than if I had done it myself. A child could have done better. It looked like they forgot to put paint on the rollers. Hardly professional! The supervisor on the job site was very apologetic and made an effort to keep me satisfied. When I called the franchise owner to comment on how displeased I was, he told me that this could happen. Then he should insist on two coats when creating a quote!! I was told that the house might get dusty since they were doing minor drywall repairs. I can accept that. What I couldn't accept was the fact that there were pieces of drywall all over the carpet that was not vacuumed up. The kitchen floor was so dusty and grainy-it was not swept up at the end of the day. The tubs were not protected thus there were pieces of drywall in there too. When the switch plates were replaced, they were dirty with fingerprints. At the end of the day, after much communication back and forth, the owner agreed to put on the second coat. Amazingly enough, it looked totally different, as if an effort was really made this time. If you want to avoid a stressful experience I would not recommend using this company.

I always appreciate feed back. And I am appreciative that [member name removed] provided her's. There are many things that I would like to elaborate on but I will keep this short. When a customer is looking for an inexpensive paint job we try very hard to accomodate their wish. Many colors can be painted in one coat if the new color is similar to the original color. However there are some paint colors that may require multiple coats. Unless we know at the time of doing the estimate what the new colors will be we quote two coats. Two coats are always better than one but not always necessary. When a customer is on a tighter than usual budget one coat is quoted and very explicit language is put in the Proposal that describes the reason for additional coats and the cost associated with the additional coat. One coat was quoted with the language below included in the [member name removed] Proposal. "In order for CertaPro Painters to guarantee 100% complete and even coverage when there are color and/or sheen changes, two coats must be selected/applied to the surfaces. PLEASE BE ADVISED: 1. When using pure white, some yellows, some reds and some deep based colors, three or more coats may be required to achieve full coverage and color. This may require an additional fee as our standard proposals will only include one or two finish coats. Additional coats will be charged at $220 per standard size (12' x 12') room." [member name removed] refused to pay the additional cost so we gave the additional coats of paint to her at no cost. As far as the cleanliness goes I was not made aware of the issue. It is extremely rare that our crews do not clean up to our customers satisfaction. When it does occur I hire, at my cost, a professional cleaning company and send them into our customer's residence to dust, vacuum and mop throughout the entire home.

We've used them on several homes. We were the first ones to use them in the Rivercreek community and now they are in here every summer painting houses for people. They do a great job. They maintain the schedule and they do a great job protecting the landscaping and shrubbery with drop cloths. They are really good at their work.

The exterior was less than satisfactory. I just finished redoing their work. They painted over the rotted wood and did not advise me of the wood damage. They skim coated instead of putting on a full layer of paint. They didn’t do a very thorough job. I have had to redo everything that they did. I just don’t understand what happened they certainly didn’t do the job I expected on the exterior. The interior paint job turned out perfect. I work out of my home. They were whistling and singing and disrupting my work. I had asked them to stop and they did not.

I am very sorry to hear that the member believes that she did not get the full value from her dollar. Since this is the first time I am hearing of the issue I have not had the opportunity to visit the member home to ascertain whether or not there was anything that my company could do to rectify the situation. CertaPro is so concerned about our customers that in order to honor our 2 year warranty we send a post card to them at about 22 months reminding our customers that their warranty is about to expire. We do not hide from our obligations and commitments, we just need to be given a chance to respond.

Outstanding! They completed all work...including the rehanging of pictures...within 5 days. Crew assigned to us was extremely punctual, polite and probably the most efficient and hardest working work crew that we have ever hired. We would certainly reach out to this group again...fortunately; they did a good enough job that it will be awhile. Two thumbs up from us.

I'm posting this review now because I am in the process of repainting the theater / screening room ceiling after it was opened and then closed and patched in order to add conduit above it. So I'm now "up close and personal" with the painting that was done. And the job is poor enough that I felt I owed it to other potential customers to offer the heads up. 1. Scheduling was fine and the price was in the middle of the range. 2. The crew wasn't as careful as they could have been. We have three places where wall or ceiling paint is in the carpet. That includes on the stairs and in the screening room / theater. 3. The major problem area is the screening room / theater. The paint three shades of a deep or deeper green on the walls, trim and ceiling. That's to knock down the light that could reflect from the screen and degrade the image. And several fundamental things were done less-than-professionally. --- Drop cloths were not used very well. There are places where the baseboards weren't painted and the primer is showing. Those look like white "half moon" shapes on the deep green. --- The elaborate crown molding was painted after the ceiling. And where the crown meets the ceiling the semi-gloss trim paint has been applied over the flat ceiling paint. And it isn't a simple "missed overlap." There's two inches of the semi-gloss trim paint on the ceiling. --- After cautioning the crew to cover the projection screen against drips, there is a drip on the screen at the bottom. That wouldn't have been possible if the screen had been masked off as we requested, and as they assured us it would be. --- There are very few clean edges where one paint meets another. Where the ceiling meets the crown molding is the most obvious. And one paint meanders into another by half an inch in a number of areas. In some places it is clear that a coat wasn't covered properly by a second coat. Given how deep the color is in this particular room, the room was primed and then given two coats of finish paint. There are areas where the primer appears to be showing. This was a challenging job in one respect: work lights are essential for everything after the first coat. And that's because the deep color is intended to absorb light. But there's a double outside window that brings natural light into the space, and lots of outlets. How much light was added during the job I don't know. So, can I recommend these guys? Honestly, no. I wouldn't call them again. We've had much better success with other painting contractors who would have charged us more than did Certapro for this project. And in hindsight, we should have stuck with the folk who we know do a good job.

I am very sorry to learn that this client is, 5 years later, disappointed with his painting experience. I bought this business 2 years ago and since this is a 5 year old issue I have had nothing to do with this situation. However, I have placed a call to him to inquire as to whether or not there is anything that I can do to rectify the situation. This would be solely at my cost. I hope that he gives me a chance to demonstrate what kind of a company we have become.

Overall very good experience, took a bit of time to actually get the date booked. Be ready with specific dates in priority order you want them there. Once at the house Noe and his crew set right up and worked hard each and every day, I almost had to kick them out in the evenings! They were very polite and courteous. The job took 4.5 days. Attention to corners and detail could have been a bit better, but i am admittedly picky. Only real criticism I have is that the final walk thru and clean up was rushed and I ended up finding a few things post departure that I would have liked to have fixed. but all minor. I would recommend them and will use them again.

We schedule in order that the project is approved by the customer. In the spring and early summer which is the height of the painting season the time between approval and job start gets longer. We always work with the customer if they have special event such as party, graduation or wedding coming up and they would like their home painted in advance.

Scheduling was easy. We did get the discount price because we did it in early Spring before they got busy--highly suggest doing at that time of year to save 15%. Just call to find out details of timing. Color selection was very stressful/tricky. Esp. since I was doing Whole house and I'm not good with design/visualization. Hired Certapro consultant to help with color choices--very pricey, about $300. I think she was here 3 hours. It was somewhat helpful overall. Some rooms she was very helpful and color turned out wonderfully. Other rooms, not so much. Dining room suggested colors looked awful on wall, she viewed and agreed, as well as multiple other people I had asked. But, I didn't get further suggestions from her, that would be extra cost. So, I ended up painting it same as foyer, which ended up very bland. One upstairs bedroom was supposed to be Brown according to what I wanted for little boys room as well as what she suggested, it turned out beige on wall, I guess with lighting, etc. sample on wall looked darker, but not when entire room was done. Looked the same as light tan in hall/foyer. Literally cannot tell it isn't the same color. It isn't a bad color, but I was going for "brown." So mixed reviews on that. Wouldn't pay that much money again with only partial satisfaction. There were some mix ups in painting "plan." but I guess that is to be expected with such a big project. Only one that really irritated me was one bathroom ceiling did not get painted (?) My instructions were to paint ALL upstairs ceilings. I had missed it on the project plan, but when I called b/c the painters said they were instructed not to paint that ceiling, she said the don't necessarily paint all ceilings just b/c the walls are to be painted (this I know, but I had instructed otherwise), so I was charged and they went back and painted, but didn't recover everything that time, so there were (still are) paint splatters on things in there, toilet, floor. Other than that the painting job went well. I did tell the painters I wanted Satin wall sheen due to wash-ability and they bought all egg shell--every room. I didn't say anything, thought no big deal it should wash... It doesn't. it comes off the wall when you wash it with mild soap and cotton rag. Very unhappy with that. It is Zero VOC paint, which I saw after-the-fact did not have as good of reviews as the regular interior paint, so that could be why (?) I think it was Sherwin Williams, that or Ben Moore. The painters were very courteous, timely and professional. the overall job turned out beautifully. Will have to touch up some areas in the future due to poor wash-ability, though. I would probably use this company again.
