I was pleased that the repairman (Daniel) was able to fix rather than replace the existing faucets as replacing them would have necessitated cutting into the drywall.

The plumber did a good job replacing the toilet. After the toilet was replaced the leak worsened. I contacted Cardinal Plumbing and informed them of the situation. They were very responsive. The plumber returned, diagnosed the problem, and quickly fixed the issue. I was satisfied with their services.

Mike came in the same day I called and immediately knew what the problem was and explained in detail what was going on with the valve and inner packing. After a few quick turns of the wrench the problem was solved and he did not charge us. I'm sure most companies would charge for the service, but Cardinal Plumbing stepped up and did not charge for the brief and easy fix. OUTSTANDING customer service!!! I will definitely use them again for any plumbing needs that come up.

The plumber sent to our house did not know how to do the repair, plus he walked off with the elbow from the broken wand and has yet to return it. (We had two elbows - a new one that Kohler had sent to our home and the one from the broken wand.) He stated that he could not attach the wand to the elbow so that the threads were not showing. After further research on my part and a couple of call to Kohler for advice, I was able to do the repair myself. It was relatively simple -- just use plumber's (teflon) tape to cover the threads on the wand before you screw the wand to the elbow. I fail to see how a supposedly licensed plumber could not have know this -- or if he didn't, could not have called Kohler himself to find out how to properly attach the wand to the elbow. My window washer has repeatedly called Cardinal over the last 2 weeks to request that the elbow be returned to me. It has not. I would highly caution anyone against using this service provider as at least the Cardinal employee sent to my home (1) did not know how to do this simple repair, and (2) walked away with my part.
Description of Work: My window cleaning service sent Cardinal Plumbing to my house to repair a bath mounted hand held shower that the window cleaners had accidentally broken. We had both the new shower wand and elbow make the repair, as well as the elbow from the broken wand.

Great experience with Cardinal. Michael made a lasting impression from the start. What really sold me on Cardinal is that after reviewing the issue at my home thoroughly he told me that while he would love to have my business I should seek corrective action from the previous company that created the issue. You just don't get that sort of honestly these days from service providers. I eventually contracted Cardinal for the waterline replacement, and they were 20% cheaper for the same work than the plumbing company that broke my water line. I will definitely be using Cardinal for all of subsequent plumbing requirements.

Letter I wrote to Denny. I did not hear back from him. Thank you for your note. The project with your Company is less about price and much more about integrity and blown expectations. First up, the work Mike did appears to be great. I say appears because we have yet to truly run the sewage pump through its paces. So, I have no complaints about the finished product. The process involved in expectation setting and delivering on those is what is bothersome. Let me recap please. Upon finding you all in Angie's List, I called and explained to Kayla that we were finishing our basement and I thought I needed a sewage ejector pump installed. I added that your offer in Angie's List was to provide a $59 estimate which would be credited to the final job if we elected to have the work done by Cardinal. She indicated that Cardinal no longer charged for estimates. Moreover, after consulting with one of your techs, Kayla quoted me an installed price of $1,085 over the phone. I spent some time with her discussing the specs such as 1/2 versus 1/3 HP pump, etc. and she then scheduled the job. Mike arrived at my home and upon surveilling the job to be done indicated immediately that this would be an all-day job and, after a phone discussion with the home office, quoted me a price of $2600. Taking you all at your word, I agreed to the price on the spot. Blown expectation #1 - $1,085 versus $2600. Mike scheduled his return visit and upon his arrival, I indicated the large delta between the initial versus current quote after I signed the estimate for $2600. I was given a discount of $250 and Mike then commenced work sometime after I left for my office at around 0945 or so. Mike completed and left the job at or around 1230 having spent 2 hours 45 minutes. Blown expectation #2 - all day job quote versus 2:45. After returning home at the end of the day to inspect the job, I called Kayla back the following day to pay my invoice and, at that time, commented on the tremendous disparity between the time allotted for the time versus the time spent. I later was given an additional $150 discount and paid the bill over the phone without further comment. Blown expectation #3 - the opportunity to say to the customer that the labor required was far less than initially anticipated and the job went more quickly vice the 15% discount I was offered with no further explanation. I have finished two basements myself and so have some idea regarding such estimates. I thought at the time the $2600 was quoted that this would include some of the additional work arounds/problems that many of my neighbors encountered in finishing their basements. But such was not the case here. Most of the pumps I researched retail for between $500-$700. Even if I assume $1000 for the pump, I paid well over $400/hour for labor even with the discount you offered. I can find no other explanations other than 1) you sought to sting me given you knew my basement construction project was being delayed and leveraged this advantage (which I DO NOT believe); 2) you were unwilling the correct an error in your estimates and provide me a revised price given the actual labor required which I suspect is the case. Given your recent note to me, you now have a 4th opportunity to meet an expectation and truly delight your customer. I understand the fixed price quotes for jobs vice bidding labor hours. But given the still vast disparity from what was originally quoted to me, we were not even in the same ball park.

"Mike" was let into house by tenant and called to to give me "bad" news. He said that since toilet auger didn't clear clog there was a major clog that would require removal of toilet and main drain snake for $499. I knew better and declined. Drove to rental (100 miles) and cleared clog in 10 minutes! Called Cardinal to make my day easier and all they did was rip me off for $80 .

Hello Sir, thanks for taking the time to give us feedback. You mentioned your toilet had been having frequent clogs. We came out and used the auger on your toilet. Mike pulled out a bunch of stuff but it was still clogged. The next step we suggested but did not push, would be to remove the toilet and snake the drain to see what was the cause of the issue. We would have removed the toilet so it would not be scratched by the snake cable. You were not there for us to explain in detail all of this to you. You decided to come out and fix it yourself quickly. Our question is did you resolve the problem permanently and was it done properly? We are professionals and have seen many clogged toilets so offered our opinion on how to best solve the problem. We saw your review so sent your payment back as we strive to keep our customers happy. Time will tell if your toilet was really fixed.

The lesson here is do it yourself. They did a fine job. It was just the deal was no deal. You can get most toilets at any home improvement store for that and install it yourself. The only reason I went ahead to do that was because we were in a rush. You pay $60 for an Angie's List so-called deal and that's the hook. So you've got to look into these things yourself. I knew because I've done this before, installed toilets myself and purchased them, so I knew what to look out for, but I didn't have time to look very far. I would be neutral on this company. The positive about this experience was they came out promptly and they gave me an honest opinion about the sump pump. Otherwise, to replace a toilet, actually it wasn't a replacement it was a rebuild. So, that made the deal even worse. I mean what is a rebuild? So, I remember thinking for the cost of this so-called rebuild I could have had a new whole toilet. So, I have to share the blame for that, but that makes the deal even worse. From their perspective they're doing pretty well conspiring with Angie's List to put out a hook that's very attractive, but the buyer has to know something. As far as the price to get a kit from a home improvement store and stick it in the tank, I would grade them an F. On quality they did it as well as I've ever done it. On professionalism if you can overlook that deal part & does a horrendous price figure into that characteristic, I don't know. I guess if you're having separate characteristics, they were very professional.
Description of Work: They did a rebuild on my toilet & I asked them to also look at the sump pump & they did. The good thing is they said it's not having a problem and I didn't need to do anything.

Hello Sir, thanks for taking the time to write a review. We are glad we met your expectations for being prompt, etc. Regarding your comments about rebuilding the toilet, we offer deals for Angie's List and NO there aren't any hooks! We don't know which way the customer chooses to have his toilet serviced and can't assume everyone is a DIYer who could do some of the work themselves. Also, from our experience after coming to fix DIY mistakes, we can't say it is always a wise choice. We appreciate though your positive feedback. Yes, DIY prices will always beat ours but we are professionals for a reason. Hope you have a great day.

Superbly. The rather old disposal needed replacement--which apparently affected draining in the sink next to it. I learned more in that visit than in all the other installations and plumbing repairs I've ever had done and immediately emailed my children about caring for their own disposals. (And, of course, the price of the new disposal was added to my Angie's List special which does not appear in the "approximate cost of service.")
