Not well. We were quoted 3 movers but on move out day were only given 2 movers. The men were sour about the size of the job. It took several hours more than the sales guy originally allotted and we were charged an extra $600. On move in day, we did have 3 movers. Again, we were charged $600 more than the original estimate. We had claims due to broken and missing items for which they tried very hard not to take blame for or pass the paperwork on to their insurance company.

The crew came out right on time and worked tirelessly throughout the day to pack my breakables and move my entire four bedroom house. They were fast, accommodating, professional, and extremely hardworking. They even helped set up my tv, which they were under no obligation to do. The actual cost of the move came in under the estimate, which was well under other moving company estimates. Nothing was damaged - not even a chip on a plate. Would absolutely use them again!

It went swimmingly. I cannot say enough about the company. They had 3 guys and completed the move in under 4 hours. We had some complicated furniture as well, and the took it apart and put it back together without issue. Highly recommend this company!

Campbell Moving & Storage Inc, provided exceptional, high quality professional services to us, from the estimate (by Paul) through the farewells at our new home. Four moving specialists (Omar, Isroel, Wilson and Juan) and two trucks worked tirelessly to carefully pack and move our furniture and effects - placing everything precisely where we asked them to in the new location, quickly reassembling disassembled items, etc. This normally stressful (for us) event was very close to being enjoyable because of their good humor and obvious expertise. They were on time, on budget, and helpful throughout their very long workday. There was no damage to any item! Highly recommend!

Excellent. We would highly recommend them. We paid extra in order to have the same crew and truck, and prompt move without needing to load on smaller truck, unload and combine on 18 wheeler, and then switch back to smaller truck to unload.
Description of Work: We helped my father move from a continuing care community in Virginia to a similar one in Wisconsin. Campbell had an awesome crew that packed him up, moved his belongings in the same truck, and unloaded in Wisconsin. The crew was courteous, conscientious, and hardworking. All furniture was shrink wrapped, padded and taped, and special care was taken with older items and spindly legs. We had no damage.

Tell your dad thanks from me. I visited his senior care facility to meet with him and discuss his move options. Important to him was being able to have an exclusive use of truck and crew for the long distance move. Typically the amount of household goods he had would share a truck going the same direction and the cost could be lower. Overall it went very well. Punctual and very little damage (a few dinged walls and some broken wine bottles, but that's it). Generally very professional. Would have liked if a bit more care was taken to cover floors throughout the house, particularly carpeted areas. They were a little liberal with their crew time. Meaning that they had four men show up in the morning and the fifth at lunch time but I was charged for the whole day of 5. Similar thing happened on the move in where one guy left for two hours but didn't adjust the cost.

Thank you for your business and time to review us. It is not feasible to cover floors throughout the entire house as this would incur a lot more labor time and materials. We do put a rubberized neoprene floor runners in the main travel paths as best we can. On a rainy day we put out more protection especially in the foyer areas to the entrance areas This is to take the moisture off the bottom of the shoes before continuing through the house. If the costs per hour were miscalculated we would like to know that at time of the paperwork being filled out. I just looked in the file at the paperwork and don't see the descrepency. Glad the move went good and your comment about the packing done well. A nine hour day for a 3 man crew probably would have equated to a 7 hour day for 4 men. Unless we think a move is going to be over 8 to 9 hours for a standard 3 man and a truck team we cant always send a 4th man as it necessitates driving a separate vehicle. If it is scheduled with 4 men in advance then of course we would send 4. The rates also change when more manpower is used so it is kinda six to one half dozen the other. The moving men were very professional. The move took over 10 hours. Even at the end of the move, the men were more than willing to accommodate my requests to place the furniture exactly were I wanted in placed.

This was my worst nightmare-the move from ****! I expected to pay around $2200 for the total move. I paid the initial $759 for four men for three hours plus one hour of travel to the site. Yet, I received three men and magically at 2:20 p.m. they stopped working; yet they were being paid to work until 3:00 p.m. I initially paid $1479 upfront to ensure I wouldn't be left with an unmanageable amount at the end. I was total to make the balance of $720 to the company directly because Angie's List was getting 25% of his money. I explained to the owner that I had big furniture and needed four men. That I am a retired FBI Special Agent and had been moved several times by the Bureau and a couple on my own; so I knew what it would take. That never happened. I had to pay a total of $1720 for the move out after arguing with him citing several of the unorthodox conditions that occurred such as I received no bill or estimate before the move among others. Then when I was finally sent an final bill stating that I would owe $1136 to get everything out of storage (which was eight hours of work with one hour for movers' travel to the site Not from the site) that didn't happen. The final bill was $1207and again like the Stepford wives movie, they stopped work this time at 2:15 p.m. did not sit up my dresser with the mirror in the master bedroom, put a hole in the back of my dresser when taking the mirror off in the move out, knocked off a side piece of border off of a treasured antique given to me by my mother, and when I noticed it was missing and brought the matter of the missing piece off of the antique to the team leader, he acted as though he didn't know what I was talking about. Then it magically showed up on top of the antique. Again for the move-in I requested four men but again I only got three. I am still trying to understand why it cost me $2927 to move 1365 square feet of furniture when it only cost me $3000 to move 1700 square feet of furniture by a nationally known moving company just 15 months earlier. The saying goes you get what you paid for; however, I paid top dollar and received below average services. I will never use Campbell moving company again and I am filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau against this company. Additionally, please know I was asked to sign and date the statement for the move out on May 12, 2017 on May 26, 2017 as if it were May 12th so the movers would not get into trouble with the owner which is fraudulent submission of documents. I have never worked with such an unprofessional, unethical, and changeable individual. I was told that the $1207 dollar figure was right by the owner because he stated that he added in work done before 7:00 a.m.; yet the bill statement clearly states I was being charged just from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. which by the way they never worked to that time.

WOW !! Not a fair review at all. This response might be a bit long but I feel I must defend my company from an unfair review. We bent over backwards for this customer and we were never going to please no matter what. Customer bought an online "package deal" for $759.00 from Angie's List at our storefront. This was to buy a 3 hour job plus our 1 hour travel time for a total of a 4 hour charge. The package did not match what her services were going to entail. She needed a very limited pack job of just some artwork and other breakables, (she was to do most all of her own packing) then a containerized storage move to our climate control warehouse. This involves special trucks, forklifts and warehouse time. We don't price that kind of move in to our location by the hour but rather by the storage crates and a 1 hour (local) trip charge known as travel time. She did not need a 4 man crew to accomplish the minor packing she requested. I saved her some charges by sending a much lower (equal man hour rate) with 2 packers to do the first day partial pack for the 4 hour period. This labor cost came to $420.00. In the end I took her whole packing charge off her bill. This left her with a credit of $339.00 to apply to the rest of the move. By the time we ever spoke to her on the day she ordered this move her money was already transferred to Angie's List. The pack and move was explained to me by her over the phone and was minimized other than she told me she had some heavy items. Heavy doesn't really matter to us as there is really no furniture that takes more than two good men to carry. It is actually hard to put 4 men on any piece of furniture as there is no room to stand 4 men around it trying to negotiate it through doors and etc. I in hindsight should have had Angie's just return her the money. I told her we would have to convert her move to an hourly rate ( at a hefty Angie's List discount) and use the money she had already paid Angie's List as a deposit toward her packing, containerizing and storage in our warehouse. Upon leaving after the packing day, customer told us she would complete the packing of the rest of her household goods before we came a few days later to do the containerizing. This was a 3 bedroom fully furnished townhouse condo going to our storage facility and then some weeks later move to a hi-rise condominium with loading docks and elevators. No two moves are ever the same as there are lots of variables such as parking access, length of hallways, long carry, etc. Upon arrival the day of the move out and in to containers we would have been in great shape to do it quickly with our standard 3 man team. Problem was that the customer did NOT do the rest of the packing. It worked out that we had to use one of our 3 crew members to do packing for most of the day while the other 2 men loaded the containers. At some point in the loading day I received a call that was rather loud and had to try to make understand again how the move was being charged. The package $759 thing again came up and she wanted to change up the agreement from the beginning and was mad there were only 3 men on the job. To calm the storm I told her that she did not have to pay for her first day and I would credit her back the $420.00 in essence giving her a free pack job. The next day she emailed me an apology for her "temper". All was well for a couple weeks while she was in our storage facility. She asked for an updated total tally of her costs paid [Member Information Removed] far and an estimate of the delivery out of storage charges. I estimated the delivery at $1136.00 for a 7 hour move plus our 1 hour travel time/trip charge. I don't think she ever really understood what the travel time meant even though I went over it with her several times. Her delivery day did come in at 8.5 hours which was a half hour off of my emailed estimate to her. This is when it went bad again. We started her move at 7:00 am at our warehouse facility and finished at 3:00 pm. We stopped her charges at 2.35 pm. She was given the benefit of a free 25 minutes but somehow in her review thinks she was charged for the additional half hour. The math is on paper and she was treated beyond fair. I try to keep everybody happy but at times have to deal with unreasonable. Moving can be stressful and can bring out the worst in some. There was a very minor mishap of a piece of trim from bottom edge of an antique that came off in handling. It was not broken or damaged but rather came loose in the movers hand just holding and carrying it. This will need a finish nail or two to reattach. The mirror talked about that was not installed back on the dresser was packed in a mirror carton by the packing crew. The moving crew simply did not realize there was a mirror to be put back on before leaving the job. Had the customer realized it we would have happily unboxed the mirror and put it on. Just an oversight. I believe she also thought she was supposed to pay the whole moving bill to Angie's List or something but I told her that she needed to pay me and not the company. That was another misunderstanding she had. Lastly I will say that she had nothing but great men on her move from start to finish and they are the same men that are bringing in all the A ratings seen above. I remember moves I personally did back in the 1980,s where movers were falling out to heat exhaustion from time to time. WE have to carry coolers full of Gatorade and water to get through it. The movers were excellent. They were very friendly, and the work was done well. They charged hourly, with an hour of travel time. I understand that i had to pay for an hour of travel time, that was fine. I found out that they were charging me for the travel time as the hourly rate as well. We talked about it, and i was objecting to the price. I apologized because i got the hourly rate wrong. But i feel like they were already charging for the travel time, they are finishing up later, but i still have to pay for the extra hours of travel. That was not explained to me. The workers were great, very professional, i just felt that something needed to be done about the charges. Just the part about the travel time, when i already paid for the 1 hour travel time.

First of all thank you for your review and the kind words about how excellent the moving team was. When moving companies explain "TRAVEL TIME" on local moves, it refers to the before and after your actual move. Our crews are paid for the driving to your present address and then from your new home back to our warehouse but is typically a fixed 1 hour on local moves. We often get stuck in traffic which is not surprising in our area. We only charge a flat 1 hour at the hourly rate no matter what happens to us in traffic. The time we are working for a customer is called "JOB HOURS". We quote an estimated number of hours plus the 1 hour travel time. You can look at it as a trip charge. The time we spend driving from your origin pick up to your new home is part of the job hours. I only capitalized the word "TRAVEL TIME" here in this response so as to call attention to the issue. They were great. We had to change the move date several times because our letter of occupancy permit from the county was delayed. They moved us as soon as the paperwork came through. Very punctual, professional and hard-working. They laid protective covering on our new hardwood floors and never bumped any of the walls. I bumped the walls constantly when I was moving things. I moved a lot of boxes of small stuff, but got tired and swollen feet and we hadn't even touched all the stuff we had stored in the attic. It was well worth every penny to hire them again to complete the move.

They were extremely responsive, showed up on time, worked quickly, and seemed like they were really careful with our stuff. We usually have a few items break or get scratched though moves, but haven't found any damage yet. My only minor issue was that the driver tried to round the arrival/departure time generously when calculating the total. However, he corrected the time after we pushed back. Regardless, I still would work with them again as the rest of the move was great.

Three-man team arrived right on time, worked industriously to carefully and thoroughly pad and wrap all furniture before moving it to truck. Unloading went equally well -- they were most gracious in moving items to final placements, even when homeowner altered the plan in mid-stream. AND -- they came in below estimate! The staff was very professional and courteous, they carefully took apart and reassembled motorized bed and other large pieces. Covered wood floors and furniture. They did not damage anything. The crew worked well as a team and were very quick, not even stopping for breaks. We were very happy both with the price, quality, and would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: We used Campbell for a local move from Fairfax to Ashburn.

Thank you for your business and time to come back and review. We wish all our customers would take the few minutes to do their Angie List duty and place a review. We feel we get about 15 % that do come back to write one. You were our 28th A RATED review over the last 13 months out of 32 that posted. Although I wish we were 100 % in that category it is unrealistic to be able to please everybody in every aspect every time. When we get a bad review we read these things and a lot of the time the story is so exaggerated and spun it is difficult to read and hurts me in a personal way. I have run this business that I started since 1978 the best way I know how. We are a small company and the same crews that get the glowing reviews are the same men that get the bad ones. From time to time we are going to have a damage or be late or not please someone for something or another and I try to own up when it is my fault. What bothers me the most is someone calling us "dishonest" which was said in a recent review on here. There is typically another side of the story. That is enough of my release of a little frustration and I should maybe not have used your review to vent but want to again say THANK YOU for work and your time to come back and review. 3 guys and a truck showed up on time at 8am on moving day; 1 (group leader?) spoke english well, while the other 2 weren't as fluent. The townhouse i was moving out of had a car garage on the first floor, while the living room/kitchen were located on the 2nd floor, and bedrooms on the 3rd floor - admittedly a lot of stairs. However, i thought it was extremely unprofessional that the 1 mover who spoke fluent english complained to me about there being too many stairs and how tired he was going up and down the stairs. By the time we got everything packed up and over to the new place, it was lunchtime. I picked up some pizza and offered some to the movers. The group leader refused, saying he had already had too much pizza that week. I asked if the rest of his team would want any, and he declined on their behalf, even though it didn't seem like he asked them before saying no. Again, there was more complaining about the stairs because the new place i was moving into had stairs. My mom stood outside by the truck, and he complained and asked why she was standing there, because it made him think that we didn't trust the movers. At this point i just wanted to get the moving done with, and get rid of this guy, but they took their sweet slow time moving into the new place. It took 3 hrs to move out from the old place, but it took 5 hrs to move into the new place?? After the move, i noticed several small marks to the furniture and small items missing. I would not hire this company again.

In response to your review I need to acknowledge as well deny some of what was written about our company. The move was done on August 1, 2016 almost exactly 6 months ago and I believe what is written is exaggerated and some is totally incorrect. We have all the records, signed copies of the move. We know who was on the job, what time we started and what time we finished as well as what the actual bill amount was. I can believe that one of the movers may have talked about the amount of stairs, but this is their job and they should not have made mention of it within your hearing distance. I am sure with the heat of the Summer and a long stretch of back to back jobs at the end of July, the gentleman was probably tired. Two of the men on the job are 15 plus year veterans with our company and speak nothing but English. Their names are Bobby and James. The third man that you said was not fluent is indeed a Latino and he speaks pretty good English. He has been with our company for about 2 years. We are not sure why this was brought up but know that he has been an outstanding crew member that has contributed to the many A rated reviews here. We started the move at 8:15 AM and you stated that we were at your new home to unload at lunch time. Not sure exactly what time that was but we were completely finished with your move at 1:45 PM according to the signed paperwork. That is a total of on the job loading and unloading of 5.5 hours. You said it took us 3 hours to load and 5 hours to unload the truck and that is simply not true. The mention about pizza : I am sorry if you felt insulted about the movers declining your pizza. Although our crews are appreciative about being offered lunch, they believe it or not, get offered pizza almost daily. I am also sorry that the crew leader may have felt he was being guarded with your mom standing at the back of the truck all day. It was hot out and he may have just thought she would be more comfortable in the house. I understand that if a customer is not pleased with our service they can and should come to this forum and do a review. We just think it should be accurate, truthful and done in a timely manner when the facts are fresh in their mind. We appreciate your business and are sorry you were not fully pleased. I was so pleased with the services provided by Campbell Moving and Storage, from the initial contact when I arranged for moving services to getting all of my contents safely in my new apartment. I received tips in advance of the move on what I could do to keep costs down and help make the move a smooth one. My movers, Jonathan and Alex were very courteous and helpful. They took great care with my belongings, expertly wrapped my furniture, and made easy work of moving all my clothes in the closets from my old apartment to the closets in my new apartment. Campbell gives the term, full service, new meaning. They truly made sure everything was done quickly, expertly and with a smile. Thank you!

We started with Wayne coming to my home and doing a complete walk through of every room including basement & garage to assess what they were working with. I've worked with this company before and preferred he actually see everything to give an accurate quote. With that, I explicitly informed him (numerous times) that I was moving to an apartment & storage. He explained that I only needed to label what was going where & sent me the quote. To start, the packing team didn't arrive as planned. Only after I called a couple of times did they said they were on their way (3 hours later). Packing took 3 additional hours than planned. When the moving team arrived on moving day, the foreman was disgustingly grumpy (but I think whatever as long as it gets done) and before he even entered the house, he said there was absolutely no way they would be able to accomplish move in one day as agreed (and signed) with Wayne who had actually seen everything being moved. He said "Wayne is just like a used car saleman to get a deal". So, I suggested they come in to see what we were moving before hastily making that assumption. After coming in, he said it still couldn't be done and we needed to use two days to move. After an hour & half of him & other movers on the phone talking with various people, I said 'we need to get started packing up the truck'. The clock had started but they didn't. So, after numerous voice mails to Wayne & 3 hours later, I finally got a call back. Thankfully I built a cleaning day into my move and used that to move the second half. Wayne couldn't understand why and i didn't want the guys using my time/dime to explain it. I've had movers come in and move me numerous times from house to house. Wayne insisted on 4 guys. 2 of them were great & the other 2 were either on their cell phones or actually saying things like "We get paid by the hour so you know..." smirking & implying that they'll take their time and literally were standing around. At one point, the forman & another started having a loud argument in my kitchen. They were raising their voices and talking about getting physical with each other. Not only was I dealing with additional costs from a terrible quote, a delayed start on both days, but now my safety is at risk. While that was going on, I go upstairs to find one of the guys on his phone, again taking a personal call. This ok once as things happen but hiding out in a bedroom, standing there for 20mins talking on my dime isn't acceptable. Finally, I put my foot down and said this needs to move along faster. Upon arrival at the apartment side, one of the guys didn't show up for a few hours. Finally when I asked, they said he was coming. I've seen various levels of moving. These guys were awful on multiple fronts. It's one thing to be a few hours short on quote (where you actually visually saw everything to be packed & moved) but to add an entire day, additional fees(+$800 over quote), unprofessional personnel, just made this was the absolutely worst experience I've ever had. Moving is stressful enough but I will never contact these guys again.
Description of Work: I had my 1900sq ft townhouse packed & moved into an apartment & storage. Was quoted for 5 hours of packing services & 6 hours moving services plus transport.
