THIS IS THE WAY MOVING SHOULD BE!! My husband and I were moving locally from a 1 bedroom apartment to a 1 bedroom apartment. I called many different companies, and decided to go with Campbell Moving for several reasons. First off, all the information that is listed on their website is accurate. Secondly, they are family owned and local. Third, they had good pricing with no hidden fees. Finally, they had excellent reviews on multiple sites, Angie’s List included. I spoke with Bill Campbell a couple of times on the phone before finally booking the move. He was very friendly, helpful and informative. My husband and I booked our move for April 9, 2011. The movers were scheduled to arrive between 12:00 and 2:00. However, they called me at 10:00 and said that they were ready whenever I would like them to arrive. This was great, because if I could get the move started a little early, that would make life easier for me. I told them to come at 11:00, and they arrived on time with 3 men and a truck. One of the men, named Jonathan, managed the move and made sure that everything went as planned. Jonathan and his team put down protective runners anywhere that they would be walking, and wrapped EVERY piece of furniture as if it were being shipped to China. They even wrapped the really old junky furniture that was being held together solely with tape and desperation. They were efficient, friendly and quick. There were a few items that I was going to put in my car myself that I wanted to hand carry because they were items that I would need right away, but they even carried that down and took it to my car for me!! After the truck was loaded, they followed my husband and I to our new place. They unloaded all of all our stuff very quickly, but with great care. All of our items were neatly placed in our new home. Jonathan wrote up our ticket, and the price that Bill Campbell quoted me was the EXACT price that I paid. There were no hidden fees, or extra costs that they forgot to tell me about. Jonathan and his crew were amazing, and I really enjoyed meeting them. As I write this, it has been almost a month since we have moved. Just recently, I unpacked the last box. Out of everything that we own, there was not one thing that was broken, dented, scratched or marred in anyway. I would recommend this company to ANYONE. My husband and I have had some pretty horrible moves with other companies, and were very worried about who to hire for this move because we have had such awful moves in the past. Campbell Movers made the whole experience delightful and pain-free. They were truly great to work with. Should the need arise, I will definitely use them again. If there were a way to give Campbell Moving an A++++ instead of just an A, I would do it. A great big THANK YOU to Campbell Moving!!

Make sure that Campbells supervises carefully the moving team to detect and resolve issues or problems as early as possible, because you're paying by the hour, and there is no price guarantee to the cost estimate they make up-front.

We hired Campbell Moving for our move from our 2 bedroom apartment in Arlington to our new 4 bedroom home in Oakton mainly based off of the positive reviews the company received on Angie's List. Our move took place on Friday April 22nd, 2011. Without a doubt, my wife and I were very happy with the services provided by Mr. Campbell and his team. From the very start, Mr. Campbell was very accommodating with all of the details for our move. On moving day, our crew, led by Roberto, arrived promptly at the time which was promised to me when we set up our move (9:00 AM). The crew worked incredibly efficiently, but also with the utmost care and precision with all of our furniture and belongings. They had the entire apartment cleared out in no more than an hour and a half. Upon arriving at the new house, the crew jumped right into action with getting our items from the truck into the new house. Once again, the team did a great job moving quickly, but were very thorough with their care of our furniture and ensuring everything was set up where we wanted it. We do have a very tight stair case in the house which was a little challenging to get some of the major items up, but the guys worked together to get it done without doing any major damage to our walls. The total unload time was approximately 2 hours (most of which took place in the very cold rain, I should mention) and the team was completely done around 1:15. Overall, the move experience was great and I would definitely recommend Campbell Moving to any of my friends and colleagues.

The crew that helped me with my move were great. They were punctual, fast, friendly and careful. I don't know what else you could ask for. I will ask for these guys again when I move my stuff out of storage next year. I was given a window of noon to 1, at 12:20 they called to tell me that they would arrive at my place at 1. At 12:50, they called again to let me know that they will be pulling up in the next couple of minutes. Great communication. Once the move started, they worked very efficiently and even helped wrapped up a couple of office chairs that I did not get a around to doing myself. They were just as careful when unloading and placing things in my storage unit. I appreciated their efforts, especially after finding out that they've skipped lunch to make my appointment on time. thanks

Received a prompt, courteous reply. Campbell Moving does not normally do jobs as small as the one I had, but they were willing to work with me. We ended up going with another mover, but were very impressed with this organization's attention to customer service.

They showed up on time, got to work right away, and I only had to tell them once which items were going to the storage facility. It was just under 3 hours from start to finish, which was less than I expected.

They were excellent and professional. My only problem with them was with the storage end of it. I temporarily stored my mother?s things with them because they had an arrangement with a storage facility. When I came to pick it up, they had moved it into another unit without telling me and that was a real shock. I thought they were fine but I was annoyed about the storage mix-up. It didn?t really matter because there was someone there 24 hours to let me in. Also, they moved it into a smaller unit so it cost less. I would use them again for moving but maybe not for storage.

Three men arrived on time on Tuesday to pack for the move. There werte he hardest working people we have ever worked with and also brought suggestions and good humor to the job. The following day 5 men arrived on time with a plan which they executed flawlessly. The two trucks drove 70 miles from Mount Vernon and the unloading began. Everything had been marked with our preferences of where boxes and furniture should go and in an old two story farm house they made it happen. They worked after sunset and were equipped with lights. The house was filled with rug runners and despite the mud outside, none was tracked in. Walls were not marked, furniture was reassembled and they left at 8:30pm ... and were still in a positive frame of mind. They were offered pizza and soda which they appreciated ~ they had not stopped all day. When the final tally was done, it did not exceed the promised price ~ no hidden fees. So, plaudits, kudos and accolades to Campbell's Moving. They are recommended without hesitation to anyone dealing with any move ... for us from a home we loved for 15 years. The men respected our things and were empathetic to me who was having some separation anxiety during the process! They were fantastic from start to finish. First, Leon was kind enough to allow us to postpone our move date by one day due to the snow storm - we really appreciated that since it took us awhile to dig out both houses' driveways out. They also provided a fourth mover to help with packing at a very reasonable rate; I had just not been able to get to the kitchen, and their man did a fantastic job packing up my dishes. The crew wrapped my furniture so professionally, I could tell they really knew how to move professionally. They moved really quickly, but were very careful and professional. Nothing was damaged, and they were careful to lay down rugs to protect the floors in both houses. They all had great attitudes and were cheerful and really helpful, especially considering we were not nearly as ready for them as we thought we would be. The rate we ended up paying for a lot of packing help, very professional handling of our goods, and various dishpaks, use of wardrobe boxes, and other assorted boxes was what we expected, but the service was so good, it was unexpected! We will definately use Campbell's Moving again!

My initial contact was great. Within a very short time after submitting a quote request, I got a call from Leon who scheduled my move. He estimated that it would take 3 guys about 6 to 8 hours to do the job. He also mentioned that I would get 5% off the normal hourly fee since I found them on Angies List. The time to do the job ended up being way off and there was nothing on the paperwork about the Angies List discount when it was time to pay. So, from start to finish, this was the experience: The movers arrived almost an hour late to our house in Woodbridge. The foreman was a high school kid who did this kind of work on the weekends for money. The other 2 were both very small guys which we saw was going to be a problem since we have very heavy solid wood furniture. They had difficulty getting some pieces out of our townhouse and nicked the walls a few times, but nothing major there. Then they went to our storage unit which was about 5 miles away. The truck was more than 75% full when they unloaded everything from the townhouse, so we knew there was no way all of stuff was going to fit in the truck. Speaking of the truck....we did not even get a Campbell Moving Company truck. They rented a Penske truck for our move which was not big enough for our stuff. It has now been 10 days since our move and we are still moving the rest of our stuff that Campbell did not have room for in the Penske truck. This has been 2 trips a day at 70 miles round trip in our minivan and requiring both of us to take an entire week off of work to do it so we don't get charged for another month of rent at the storage place. Okay, back to the move. Once they loaded what they could from storage, they proceeded to our new home in Gainesville. Upon their arrival I had lots of food and beverages waiting for them at the new house. They took their sweet time eating and all came in for seconds. All of this on the clock of course. Campbell claims that they cover all of your floors with waterproof mats....well, that is not true. We just had a brand new home built and they only covered the hardwood entry way and the first 3 steps going upstairs. When asked why, the foreman (who was the only one we were able to communicate with) said that they did not give him enough supplies. So, needed to say, all kinds of dirt was track all through our brand new home and pristine carpets. I was very upset by this. The guys would strap 2 to 3 boxes on their backs and carry them in, but when it came to putting them down, they needed assistance from my husband or 15 year old son to get them off their backs. One time they had a box clearly labeled FRAGILE on the very top and when he tried to lower them off his back by himself, it toppled over and upon opening and unpacking that box, I had 2 broken items. When they carried my dresser in through the front door and were about to proceed up the stairs, they lost their balance and it slammed into the wall creating a hole all the way through the drywall to the metal. There were many more dents and nicks all over my walls from the move. They also damaged the footboard on my king size bed. Two substantial chunks were taken out of the bed in a very noticeable and visible area. This was a very expensive bed and now it looks terrible. They also did not wrap or protect our king size mattress which we paid over $5,000 for. They just threw it in the truck and the white mattress arrived at our new house with brown dirty spots all over the sides. I got some of the dirt out, but not all of it. There were other minor things, but that is the bulk of it. When it was time to pay, the foreman had no idea about the Angies List discount and called someone about it. They spoke in Spanish for about 10 minutes then he totaled up the receipt. I am pretty sure we never got the discount. If we did, it is not clear. We were so stressed out after the whole experience. The foreman was very nice, but I think that we did not get the proper crew for our move. I reviewed the back of the receipt to see what needed to be done to file a claim against damages, but it appears that we would have to pay Campbell's insurance deductible in order to file a claim. To me, that was not worth the effort. I am sure they have many moves that go very smoothly, but ours was not one of them. I chose them based on their outstanding reviews on Angie's List. My suggestion to anyone considering them is to make sure you tell them that you need strong guys if you have heavy stuff.

Mr. Campbell was the third mover I contacted with my unusual request. The first two (both List members) never returned my calls! My daughter had ordered custom built nursery furniture. The delivery was coming from Ohio and the best the company could do was offer a five hour window; they also promised to call when an hour away. They would deliver to the curb only. I spoke with Mr. Campbell and explained what we needed. He readily agreed to have men "on call" and waiting for my call when the furniture was an hour out; they would then head over to the house. Big glitch: the delivery fellows forgot to call. I received a frantic call from my daughter saying the delivery truck was backing up to the curb. I called Mr. Campbell and explained the situation. He said they would be right over and they were! He and his men arrived while the furniture was still coming off the truck. What had seemed like the project of the century was over in no time at all. The Campbell "team" expertly and with no waste of time brought all the furniture in and put it in place. They even took away all the packing material (that the delivery men had left behind!). The icing on the cake was when Mr. Campbell called later in the day and thanked me for the tip I had given the crew -- they more than deserved it but how nice was that? This experience made all the family members present wish they were moving sometime soon so they could call Mr. Campbell to assist! (Note to Mr. Campbell --- you WILL be seeing the nursery furniture again in the not-too-distant future!) Today was a five star experience all around! Thank you, Mr. Campbell!

This move could not have gone better, and we are extremely impressed with Campbell Moving. I got an over-the-phone estimate from Leon, which turned out to be right on the money. Leon also patiently and thoroughly explained the process. Campbell bills by the hour, with no extra charges, which makes it easy. (Actually there was one extra....they charged a very reasonable $75.00 to move our small upright piano.) The crew called when they were about 1/2 hour away to confirm that they were on their way. The crew -led by Roberto- was friendly, professional and efficient. They also worked tirelessly, and ceaselessly! Our final cost was literally half of what another highly-rated mover gave us. I will absolutely call Campbell when the time comes to move again.

The crew was extremely professional and cooperative. I say cooperative because every box of books and files had to be opened at the old location, sorted for which destination it was to be delivered to, then re-sealed. This could have been a slow process, but was efficiently handled.

It started with a very professional phone call for scheduling. The recommendation for my move was 5 men and 2 trucks at a rate of $230/hr. Movers were exactly on time. Team was professional, efficient, and very friendly. They inspected every piece of funiture before wrapping and made sure I was aware of any previous damage. They wrapped everything in both blankets and cellophane for a move that was only about 5 miles. I had wood floors at the destination and before they moved a single box the entire team went to work, without a word from me, covering the floors and carpets. I have moved perhaps 15 times with the military and these guys were the best I have seen. Worth every penny.

Great service. They were friendly and very fast at packing, loading, and unloading. They only down side was it took them almost 2 hours to drive from my my old condo in Reston to my new condo in Arlington. We all left my old place at the same time, and I drove straight to my new place in about 20-25 minutes. They told me they were going to swing by and grab lunch on the way, which was totally fine with me. However, I was assuming it would be more of a quick pit stop or drive thru that they would do for lunch. I ended up taking a nap on the hardwood floor of my empty condo as I was so bored waiting for them. I eventually called and they were in the neighborhood but couldn't find my building, so I went outside and waved them over. I completely understand getting lost, but I just wish they had called me or something so I knew what was going on, especially because I'm paying by the hour. They did end up discounting me 30 minutes. However, they did show up on time in the morning and the packing was finished way faster than I was anticipating. All in all they did a great job. Nothing was lost or broken and I do own a lot of breakables.

They did a good job and I did refer them to someone else. They were professional and our belongings were well taken care of. We would use them again.

Great job! Efficient, polite, pleasant. Estimate was exactly on target. It was pouring on move day but my furniture was kept perfectly dry. Highly recommended.

They loaded the truck one day, and unloaded the next day at our new house, which was about 25 miles from the old house. The crew wrapped everything carefully and worked quickly. Nothing was damaged during the move, the first time we have had a move without damage. The price was also good. I highly recommend Campbell.

Everything was absolutely fantastic. I told Bill that I was going to pack up my entire townhome, and that definitely was my intention. However, when the day of the move came I only had about 1/2 of the townhome actually packed up but Bill assured me that I could have the guys for as long as I needed them and we'd be able to get the job done. The guys worked very hard to help me finish packing and they were able to complete the move in one day (12.5 hours). It was 100 degrees that day and the guys did not complain at all and worked very hard and very fast. They were very polite and had a great attitude. All of my furniture arrived in perfect condition and they put the furniture together for us at the new house even though it was so late when we arrived. We are very thankful for all of their hard work.

Very well. They packed, moved, and did another half day of unpacking. They under estimated the amount of stuff we've accumulated. It took some more people than estimated but they worked hard and got the job done on time and within $400 of the estimated price. Nothing broken, scratched, etc.

From arranging the move on the phone to the move itself, I was very satisfied with the level of service we received. I had never used a moving company before and am happy I did this time. Although, the movers arrived about an hour late (understandable with DC traffic) they were extremely friendly, professional, and efficient. The only items damaged were some dishes I had packed myself. They wrapped all my leather and wood/glass furniture and were very careful with my belongings, even set up my bed for me. The price was more than quoted by a couple hundred dollars, but still was well worth it. They did not do a estimate visit prior to the move which may help them be more accurate in the future.

We learned that our new family room furniture would be delivered a lot sooner than we expected, and we had little time to get the old furniture out of the way. Campbell Moving agreed to take on this small job for a reasonable price and came to help us right away. We had them move about 10 large pieces of furniture from various rooms to other places inside our house. It only took half an hour, and was done perfectly. Great company!

Overall the move went great. Three guys showed up on time and knocked out the move in less than 2.5 hours time. The guys were professional and did a great job moving everything. I talked to both Bill and Leon on the phone, and they were very pleasant and again professional. There was some slight confusion (on both of our parts) regarding the price (specifically whether we would be paying for 2 guys versus 3, 3 hour minimum versus 4 hour minimum, Angie's List discount, etc.). In the end, we settled the confusion and got a fair price, and all is well. I do not hesitate recommending Campbell Moving and will likely use them again for future moves.

Mr Campbell himself came out for the estimate and did a very thorough job explaining the charges and the moving process. We were originally scheduled to move the weekend of a huge storm and Campbell's was very good about rescheduling. The packing process was efficient and the workers were professional and courteous. During the move, nothing was damaged, and everything went smooth. My only complaint is that the packers did not pack a couple of things I asked them to pack.

We received our preferred date to move, and the experience was very good. The 3 movers arrived on time and were professional. They had all the equipment and materials with them necessary to do the job (several days later, we used a small moving company to do move items that were not packed the day of the big move -- we laughed that day over the difference between the movers; Campbell's guys were obviously pros carrying 2 boxes on their backs, etc., while the "small" guys were struggling carrying one in front of them and using handtrucks for everything). They seemed to work hard and had good attitudes.
