Although it has been a while since our move, I recently recommended Campbell Moving to a friend and then realized I had never written a review. We were extremely satisfied with our experience with Campbell Moving. The reservation process was easy and we paid what we were quoted. Our move was from a 3 story townhome with some challenging staircases (winding and narrow), at least they were when we moved in. We were pleasantly surprised to see that our work crew was not only fast but also cautious. They did great, no scratches on furniture or walls! They followed our directions and met our very high standards. We would definitely use them again and have already recommended them to a friend.
Description of Work: We moved from a 3 story townhome to a single family home. We also had furniture and boxes moved from a storage unit to the new home.

Sounds like we had a tough stairwell to negotiate with large furniture and pulled it off without a problem. It is sometimes to be perfect in this as modern furniture is being built very large and not ALL houses were designed to enable ALL furniture safely without a "little bit of squeezing" to get it in. Did a good job with no damage. Showed up essentially on time (20min after the time I was told) and took pretty much all day. Guys worked hard without taking any breaks aside from the drive time. The hourly rate was a bit higher than I was expecting but I waited until the last minute before arranging the move so not totally on them. Price aside, the move went great. Note: I've seen other comment on language problems for various movers. Although English wasn't the first language for the crew it wasn't a problem. The crew "chief" spoke English as did one other guy. I wouldn't necessarily want to try and carry on a conversation with the other 2 guys but they understood enough to respond to requests of where to put things. Language simply wasn't an issue for my move.
Description of Work: Moved me from an apartment to house filling the whole truck in the process. Have LOTS of stuff so it was a big job.

Thanks for your great review here. You mentioned something that I have seen in a few reviews, so I wanted to address those here. The first is that some of our customers feel the pricing was a little high and thus a grade of "B" on "Price". While we understand that our hourly rate is sometimes $5.00 to $10.00 per hour higher than other similarly rated companies, our rate does include more services than most other companies. These included services include the free use of expensive wardrobe boxes, free stretch wrapping and padding, and dozens of rolls of tape on most moves. The tape is used to secure our moving blankets to furniture prior to moving, and it sometimes takes a half roll to surround a single, large item piece of furniture. We do not nickel and dime with other things like excessive steps, long carries, moving pads, floor protection, door protection, and many other things that some companies charge for on moving day. The second thing I would like to address is that some reviews have mentioned even when it is an "A review that some crew members are not fluent in English. Firstly, it is most important that I state that we do not use day labor...never have...never will. All of our crews have crew leaders fluent in English...some better than others. Some of our crew members speak English as their first language and some as their second language. We do not allow anyone on the jobs that would not be able to perform. Like you said, it isn't usually an issue. We had a small move of a one bedroom apartment. We called several companies for quotes and many, upon learning it was a small job, said they weren't interested and hung up. Campbell's, on the other hand, was very courteous and professional and was able to provide a quick quote over the phone. As is the case with other moving companies who did provide quotes, there is a minimum four hour charge including driving time. The three gentlemen from Campbell Moving arrived on time, introduced themselves and confirmed the hourly rate and the minimum charge. They were dressed with shirts with the Campbell logo. We had done all the packing so this was limited to moving items. They carefully wrapped all the furniture with padding and were very careful loading onto the truck. This was a second story apartment with one flight of stairs. The movers were very courteous and professional. Offloading of the truck also required one flight of stairs. They carefully placed the furniture where we asked and placed the boxes in the appropriate rooms. Because they were efficient, they finished a little early. They asked if there was anything that needed to be done since we had not yet met the minimum time. We said there wasn't and paid using a 5% discount from the Angie's list website. We would definitely use them again. We rated their price a B as it was a bit high but competitive with other companies nonetheless.
Description of Work: Local move of approximately 35 miles of our daughter's one bedroom apartment.

Perhaps for the amount of items you had, it seemed a lot but it was almost 30 miles as well. We have to have a minimum of 4 hours so that our crews get at least a half day of work when they come to work. Mostly we arrange 2 small moves each day so the crew gets a normal 8 hour day. Jonathan and his team of two showed up exactly on time, made quick work of wrapping and moving furniture and items into the truck. Once at the storage facility, Jonathan worked with me to create a small hallway so I could access the material at the back of the storage unit. Al-on-all, a good contractor experience.

It has taken me this long to think of the right words to say to describe our experience with Campbell because it was so incredible. From the moment Wayne came out to give us an estimate, I felt that he understood our needs and could more than accommodate them. He was straight-forward and seemed to truly care about providing the best service possible. After obtaining estimates from several moving companies, we decided to go with Campbell. In the weeks and days before the move, we called Wayne and asked many questions; he was always patient and informative. He assured us that the move would go well and that we would be happy with their services. The day of the move, the movers (4 as promised) showed up on time, even calling before they arrived. The team lead, Jonathan, looked over the house, and he and the crew immediately went to work. We were still packing a few things, and the guys just worked around us. They all seemed experienced and efficient. We were extremely impressed with how quickly and how hard they worked. Jonathan kept his crew laughing and upbeat which helped us all during a very stressful time. It was a very hot day, and we were concerned about them taking a break, but they continued on. Eventually, we asked to buy them lunch just to get them to take a break. When lunch was delivered, we thought they would take at least a half hour break, but they simply ate their lunch and continued on. all of them very grateful for the lunch and all in such good spirits. When we arrived at the new house, we continued to be amazed at their precision and hard-work. They told us numerous times that they would place the furniture wherever we wanted and would move it if necessary; all we had to do was ask. They brought the furniture in, put things back together that they had to take apart to move and, as promised, placed everything as we asked. At one point, we moved some bedroom furniture as they were still unpacking, and Jonathan chided us on not doing that again! By the end of the 8 hours they were there, we were all exhausted, but the team continued to be upbeat and helpful. They thanked us again for the lunch, and we could not express our appreciation for all of their hard work and dedication to our needs. Nothing was broken, lost or misplaced. These guys were the consummate professionals! Thank you Wayne and Jonathan and the entire crew; our family could not have done this without you, and we are so impressed with your company!

I would have written a review sooner but I have a newborn and I work full time. I was disappointed in Campbell moving and packing services. I have a newborn so we really needed someone to pack up our townhouse and move us to our single family house. The biggest problem was disorganization on their part and communication issues (no one spoke English very fluently) Packing - First, the pros. The packers arrived on time and packed the fragile items very well. So far, I haven't noticed anything broken (we are about halfway done our unpacking). The cons: We had a lot of trouble communicating with them from the very beginning. I told them to please label what the items were in the boxes so that we could easily unpack the stuff we needed at the new house. They ended up marking the boxes with locations such as "master bedroom" and "garage," which doesn't help when you are trying to find things. Also, they packed really dusty items in with my clothes - making all of my clothes dirty! Clothes should be in their own box! We were told ahead of time that we would be given a wardrobe where they would put all of our clothes in. Well it turns out that they only did that with the items we had in one of our closets. All the rest of our clothes were put in boxes with other items. The price was similar to the price we were quoted (they use a TON of packing paper unnecessarily but I guess that's better than something breaking). Moving- First, the pros: The movers worked very hard to load everything very fast. They did not waste any time. The cons: It was very difficult to communicate with the movers to tell them where to put the boxes. It was difficult to convey that just because something was in our garage in our old house doesn't mean we want it in the same location in the new house! About 1/4 of our boxes ended up in the wrong place. They had a lot of trouble with our bedroom set. When they moved our bedroom set out of our house, they scratched the top of it. Finally, when they brought our bedroom set into our new house, they couldn't figure out how to lift it up our stairs. I explained how they could rotate it but they ended up putting a dent in our wall by the front door. We would not use Campbell moving again. It would be really helpful to have someone who spoke and understood English very well because I feel that a lot of the problems could have been avoided with clearer communication. The price was a bit high considering all we had for furniture was a bedroom set and mattress and everything else were smaller items but they were in line with what they quoted.
Description of Work: 3 men came the day before to pack up everything in our house. The next day, a fourth man joined the crew to load up all the boxes and furniture and move them into our new house. Update 8/1 I have verified with Angie's list that they are the correct company. My address should be on record. I called Campbell moving twice and left messages. They have never called me back.

We are a military family and are used to the standard PCS move, the beauty of which is that it's totally free and they pack everything for you, but the bad part is they don't properly wrap your furniture and then cram everything into wooden shipping containers. We found Campbell's to be a totally different experience. It's not free of course or even cheap, so you do have to watch the clock and do as much as you can yourself, but they do a far superior job in wrapping the furniture in blankets and plastic wrap, and are far more friendly and courteous to you and your house. We really enjoyed the guys -- they worked efficiently and finished in 7.5 hours. I was a little disappointed that their pace slowed way down in the afternoon -- it was probably due to the 92 weather that day -- but overall we were extremely pleased.
Description of Work: Packed furniture in old house (3 BR, family of 4) and moved it into the new house down the street. They just did the furniture -- we did everything else.

The set up was easy, Mr. Campbell answered my Angie's list inquiry immediately. The crew was on time, started immediately, worked from 8:30 AM to 8:00 PM with only a lunch break. Nothing was broken or damaged in the move.

Overall, it was a good experience with Campbell Movers and we recommend them. They packed everything very efficiently. Three people completed it in approximately 7 hours. We helped a bit by filling up empty boxes we had as well as moving some valuables ahead of time. They used ample amounts of paper to protect valuables. They were clearly well practiced at arranging boxes so nothing was damaged. While we are still unpacking, we have found no damage to anything that Campbell packed. We have a few small complaints. On both days, the crew was 30-40 minutes. The first day, we're not sure why. The second because of problems with the one of two trucks. This became a larger issue because we only had one truck for a promised two-truck move. This means we wasted time (a la money) returning to the first house for the second load and they didn't finish until almost 8PM, making it a very long day. They knocked off that travel time and some money off of materials. Finally, it didn't look like they padded the walls/stairs as well as the photos during the selling pitch. Again, no damage, so it turned out OK. Furniture all wrapped well and handled with care. Jonathan led the crew both days and is friendly and professional. Nice sense of humor too. The crew worked hard and didn't waste time.
Description of Work: We used Campbell Moving based on Angie's list, realtor referral and friend referral. They packed and moved our 4500 sq. ft townhouse (with lots of stairs) to a single family home including a piano. Total move distance was about five miles.

I emailed the company for a quote and they were very responsive. We corresponded by email a few times before scheduling an in-home estimate. Andy was very nice, helpful, and professional. He gave me a thorough estimate and offered suggestions for preparing for the move as well as what to look for in moving companies as I shopped around. The crew arrived early on the day of the move and worked hard all day. I was surprised at how long the move took (the high end of the estimated range), but that was not because of the crew - they were always busy and working hard whenever I saw them. The guys were professional, pleasant (while exhausted!), and patient on the unloading side of the move as well. I liked that they protected the floors, walls, and doorways at both houses - less mess and scratches! I was disappointed to find that they left quite a bit at the old house, however. Some of it was stuff that wasn't packed, and that was our fault, but 2 full closets were missed including hanging clothes (which we didn't pack because of the included wardrobe boxes) and packed boxes. I don't think they did this on purpose - perhaps the doors were closed and they just didn't check. I was not at that house at the end of the day to be able to walk through and check to be sure they got everything. My husband was, but he was trying to box up the loose leftovers. I was also disappointed to find a dent in my bed and in one of the tracks on a drawer of my dresser. The bed is IKEA and is composite wood, so probably not covered by the protection policy and the dresser may be repairable. So far, that's the only damage we've found, though, so not bad! These two things are fairly minor and I did not contact the company about them. I was impressed by how well they wrapped and protected our furniture before it ever left the room it was in at the old house. Overall, though, our experience was good. I appreciated Andy telling me about Angie's List and their 5% coupon as well!

I am always concerned if our estimates are not in line with the final move price. However, I can see from your comments that you still had some last minute packing that was needing to be done. I do stress in every move and on several occasions with my responses on Angie's List the importance of being ready on move day. Not being properly prepared and having miscellaneous items still remaining to be packed are the main reasons why the final price can be more than the estimate. Our estimates are done by experienced staff and are honest and as accurate as they can be based on feedback from our customers. It was one of those dreaded, but necessary decisions that most everyone will come to at some point. You love your home, but the kids are grown and gone and you just don't need all of the space and the bills that come with it. It was time to downsize and move. My search for a mover began based on price alone, and I quickly found out after many "red flag" conversations with other moving companies that there was much more to consider. A friend recommended Campbell Moving to me.....one phone call and I was totally put at ease. I spoke with Bill Campbell on the phone to go over what to me was a complicated move and he immediately offered intelligent solutions, from how many trucks and crew I would need to where to buy boxes so I could do most of the packing myself. The level of professionalism, experience and "non pushy" attitude that Bill conveyed prompted me to schedule an appointment for an assessment. Andy was scheduled to do the assessment, and the first sign that I was going to like him was when he called to tell me he was running a few minutes late due to traffic. He arrived with his friendly, compassionate, professional demeanor and put a number to what I felt was my chaos. I basically had two moves in one day, and had to make all the decisions that came with it.Move day came and first thing in the morning I received a phone call from Jonathon, the foreman, reconfirming his arrival time, which by the way, was spot on. Two big trucks, Jonathon, and his crew of five arrived. Every one of them was courteous, respectful of my belongings, friendly and the most hard working group I have ever witnessed. It only took ONE WALK THROUGH with Jonathon and the crew as to which truck the belongings were going to based on storage or apartment (I had everything color coded) and they went straight to work, leaving me confident that I was going to find the right belongings in each location. The day was long....those guys humped all of my huge pieces of furniture and a mountain of boxes for 11 HOURS, always with a smile!! ( I even had to call them 3 times to come each lunch!! ) Jonathon was exceptional at letting me know time frames etc. After both trucks had been loaded, Jonathon made the expert decision as to how to split the crew up for the unload to storage and to the apartment. I was at the apartment to guide the placement of the furniture and was honestly amazed at the dedication to getting each piece through the door. Please understand...the measurement of some of my pieces was LARGER than the measurement of the doorway (even with the door removed), and under Jonathon's expertise and guidance, they got everything in WITHOUT A SCRATCH! I was and still am amazed and ecstatic! By the end of the day, I can honestly say that Jonathon and his crew felt like family. We were all hugging each other goodbye!! If you've ever been through a move, you know it is an emotional and extremely stressful time. At the end of my move day, I knew that I had been exceptionally taken care of. I want to tell you that NOT ONE ITEM was broken, scratched or damaged in any way. They cared for me and my belongings like it was there own. I can honestly say that I don't think I have ever, in my entire life, been so pleased with a company that I have hired for a service. I cannot say enough. I would (and do) recommend Campbell Moving to anyone and everyone. Another huge thank you to Bill, Andy, Jonathon and the crew for an easy transition and a great memory!!
Description of Work: Being empty nesters, my husband and I decided to downsize from a 4000 sq ft home to a 1000 sq ft apartment. I had half of my belongings going to a storage location, and the other half going to the apartment. I packed everything myself, with the exception of my fine and expensive belongings. I hired those to be packed professionally to make sure they survived the move and life in storage.

After a couple recent less than great reviews I am so happy to have gotten back to the mostly strait A's and your review will make my day if not my year. Andy, your sales guy has been my best friend for a bit over 40 years and he owned his own moving company for 27 years. He was my across town friendly competition. He retired briefly for 5 years then realized he had to go back to work. I immediately insisted he work for me and not against me and he and I along with a few other family members are thrilled with what we have going here. Jonathan, Roberto,and Juan are some of the best crew leaders Campbell Moving has ever had. We look forward to getting more of these reports from other Angie members. These guys make it look EASY! (which it isn't of course -- moving 'aint no fun', as we all know!) We had them load up our household goods 1 day and deliver them the next - which they did, no muss, no fuss. This was a houseful of stuff - 2 large trucks worth. About a month later we had another set of household goods picked up and delivered in the same day - which they did, again no muss no fuss. Bill Campbell's estimates of how much time and manpower it would take to do the work were pretty much right on. The crews were quiet, clean, efficient, and polite. Right on time, and right on schedule. They take pains to wrap furniture and fragile things, and also were very good about not damaging the houses - probably the best I've seen in that regard, and we've moved 'a bunch' over the course of an earlier military career. We certainly don't want to move again any time soon! -- but I can tell you that if we do need moving services in the area again -- we'll be calling Campbell.
Description of Work: 2 local moves - moved 1 set of household goods from Vienna to Fairfax in November, and 1 set of household goods from Centreville to Fairfax in December.

After we decided to call Campbell Moving, we called them and they immediately came out to discuss our move and provide a detailed estimate. Their estimate included everything to pack our house in Virginia and move the items to West Virginia. They arrived promptly on the date and time as agreed upon and started to work. Four people came and put down protective floor covers, packed all items, padded and wrapped items, and loaded them into their large truck. Everyone was fantastic - they were friendly, answered any questions we had, and worked very hard. The next day they arrived at our destination ahead of schedule. They unloaded the items to the rooms we requested and provided other assistance as needed in getting things in place. Overall the experience with Campbell Moving could not have been better - it was just Outstanding. I've heard so many bad stories about other movers but Campbell Moving proved they stood behind their estimate, did not increase or add additional charges, and everything was moved without damage. We highly recommend them and would use them again. Thanks again for the quick and professional service - you made our short timeframe move in the most professional manner possible.
Description of Work: We sold our home and had to vacate in a short timeframe. After seeing the positive reviews here on Angie's List, we decided on contacting Campbell Moving. Our move was from Alexandria Virginia to West Virginia. We contacted them, they came out and gave us an estimate, and based on their professionalism we immediately contracted with them for our move.

We really liked them a lot. They were very informative over the phone. They were right on time and really hard workers. They did a good job taking care of our home and furniture. It was our first time using movers so they were attentive and patient with us.

we would not recommend this Campbell Moving and Storage for the following reasons: Our move was a local move of 20 miles. I self-packed many of MY own boxes and some of their boxes to help save money. I wish I was able to pack more, but did not have enough time. I was helping pack also. I happen to walk into a room of one of the packers wrapping all my light bulbs all together, not individually as you would do with other fragile items. I mentioned this to him and another packer overheard me and had to stop what he was doing and had to help and told him the same. There were other items he was packing that I had to tell him this same person about. I was not able to stand and watch him the whole time, but did mention this to the owner. He said that he was not usually the packing guy, but that he was a good moving guy. I did mention that I needed to go through several of those boxes that he packed and needed to re-wrap and pack the boxes in order for the items to not be broken. He just said he would give us a discount. But we did not see a discount at the end – and actually paid many hundreds of dollars over the estimated cost. They did not pack everything on packing and said that they would do more on moving day. We also had several mirrors that were broken as they didn't have the necessary boxes to do the job. Instead of asking someone to get the right type of boxes they used our scraps of cardboard and bubble wrap. I did not notice until weeks and months later while unpacking that they did not wrap them well as many of them were found broke. I would not use this company again, nor would I recommend them to anyone. I regret my decision to hire them in an effort to support a local company. I was disappointed that they were recommended by Angie’s list

Member, I am sorry that you had a bad experience with my company and equally curious why you waited almost 2 years to submit this report. I hope that you have noticed the very high percentage of A ratings we have received with Angie's List, and that is something that we strive for everyday. I did research our record archives and saw that you were indeed moved in July of 2010. I also vaguely remember the light bulb incident you spoke of. As you said in your own description of the job you did a self pack job for the most part but "ran out of time" to complete the packing and preperation. This is the most common thing that can make a move go badly and never have a chance to satisfy. Customers do want to save money on their moves and the best way is to do your own packing and preparation. It does take some time and effort though and can be stressful. When our moving teams arrive on move day they expect they can start the moving process. When a customer trys to do a self pack and runs out of time it can throw the whole estimate and process off substancially. Moving is a tough process and can be exhausting on anyone. We ask our customers to be realistic about what they intend to do on their own so that there are no surprises on moving day. We have on our website information regarding the organizing and packing of your household goods and the importance of it being done timely and before the day of the move. I am so sorry that you experienced a bad day but just want to emphasize the importance of packing vs. moving as it relates to this industry and the small things that can take place to make the move experience more stressful.

CAMPBELL MOVING ROCKS!!!! Performed a pack and move that went smoothly, stress-free, and without any issues whatsover. They expertly packed my high end items and even took the time to show me the best way to pack things, such as dishes, pictures, and even electronics. I have moved quite a bit being a former Army brat and former active duty myself. I have never had an experience such as this. They took such good care of my items as if they were their very own. They moved me a lot quicker than I originally thought it would take based on my last move(s). At no extra cost and as part of their hourly rate, they padded furniture, they even added an additional layer of shrink wrapping on my high end sectional sofa, and did what they call "soft crating" on my very large plasma tv and entertainment center. That entailed a first layer of the moving quilts/pads, then they used cardboard over the screen or glass sections, then shrink wrapped the entire thing. It was as if I was getting a Christmas present. I was pleasantly surprised when the owner's son showed up to be part of my move. He is actually an active duty Army soldier that recently returned from a tour in Afghanistan, and it was such a pleasure to meet another one of my military comrades in arms. He was home on a brief leave from the Army so it was really great to see that this truly is a family business and it was nice to have the second generation of this family be a part of my move. Everything went off without a hitch. My estimate was done over the phone by Andy, and he was dead on with his estimate. I had other estimates that came in a little lower in price, but then they started adding money here and there based on little things. With Campbell Moving, it was the flat, hourly rate and when I was told about the services provided and how my furniture would be handled, I just had to go with them. I am sooo glad that I did. There were no hidden charges or "other" charges; it was exactly as it was priced over the phone. I couldn't be happier with the job they did. Thanks Matt, Kirk, and Carlos for an extremely job well done. Moving is something I never look forward to, but I promise you the next move I make, whenever that is, will only be with Campbell Moving. Matt, you have made your country proud, and you have definitely made your family's business proud. I look forward to being a loyal customer forever. These guys are the real deal!!! It amazes me what sets apart a mover and an expert mover. Campbell Moving is nothing shy of experts, and I am still amazed at how good these guys really are. I promise that all of my friends and family will hear about this. I was not an Angie's List member before, but when you mentioned how much great business you were getting from it, I just had to join...if nothing else but to write this review for your business. Your particular move was actually an easy one for us as it was being moved from an elevator building to an elevator building. Sometimes these type moves can take a bit longer with the length of the hallways and distance to the elevators. When that is the case we use the large platform carts you saw us use on your move. Campbell Moving did an excellent job. This move went very smoothly. I hope my husband and I don't have to move again (at least not any time soon) but if we do, we'll definitely use Campbell Moving again.
Description of Work: Campbell Movers helped my husband and I move from our family home in Massachusetts that we had lived in for more than 19 years while our kids were growing, to a townhouse in Virginia. Although I was overwhelmed by the amount of stuff we had accummulated over the years and the daunting task of packing and moving it, Campbell Movers managed it with ease. The pick-up and drop-off times were scheduled at our convenience - even though Campbell Moving had to keep the truck loaded an extra couple of days until we could move into our new residence. The truck was loaded with everything in under 5 hours. They arrived to unload the truck exactly when they said they would and had everything on the truck unloaded and in our new home in hours. Although they seemed to move at a record breaking speed, all of our belongings were handled with care. And the rate we were quoted before the move was exactly what we were charged - there were no surprises.

Dear member, I am very sorry you had such a hard time with your move in general. I really hope you do not perceive my answer as defensive in any way, but I must point out some specifics of your move. I was part of your move and know all of the details associated with it. You were given an in home written estimate and offered a packing crew as you were basically "on your own" to accomplish the pack and preparation without any help. You turned down the packing crew and assured us you could get the "Packing" done and be ready for our 'Moving Team" on your own. On the day of the move my Director of Sales, Andy, stopped by your home after getting a call from our crew leader. His concern was that you were not ready and were still trying to get things in boxes which was going to require a larger task than it was supposed to be.Trying to move out of a large single family home and squeeze in to a smaller townhouse is a challenge in itself. You simply had too much furniture and unlabeled boxes. Yes, as many as 6 to 8 boxes were in the wrong rooms I admit. I recieved an email the very next morning from the real estate lady that referred us to you.She asked me to call you as you were not happy. I immediatly contacted you and personally came to your townhouse to see what was wrong. The upper two levels looked pretty well set up and without any hitches. When trying to enter your basement I realized just what went wrong. There was no room leftover to place anything and some boxes were not where you wanted them. You had way too much volume furniture and boxes for the size home you moved into and it created a mess. While I was there with another one of my men we helped you organize a storage area so that more could be placed there. I even offered to haul away several items of furniture that were just blocking the hallways so that it would clear some room for you. You accepted my offer and I hauled the furniture to the dump for you. Again, I am very sorry this move was traumatic to you but a bit of forethought and better organization would have prevented you from being a dissatisfied customer. If you still have any furniture or boxes that you want hauled away, I am willing to come and do that for you at no charge. As a small business owner, it is very important to me to strive for 100% satisfaction. However, in this type of business, that is not always the case. It is also very important to me to protect the high level of service that my company offers, and I'm truly sorry if you felt you did not receive that. Again, I think it just goes back to possibly a little better planning to ensure and make known that downsizing homes can often come with difficulties due to smaller rooms and overall square footage. Andy came to our townhouse and gave us very accurate estimate of the cost of moving. We had asked six other companies to give us an estimate but we chose Campell Moving because Andy was very courteous, professional and meticulously described their method of moving our stuff (i.e, protecting the railing and floor, double packing the furniture). On the day of the move, JC and his crew were amazing. They arrived on time and worked very hard throughout the day. We were very impressed how quickly and efficiently they handled our stuff. The estimate was for 10.5 hours. The crew finished in 9.5 hour. Overall, we were very happy with Campbell Moving.

The customer service was not as promised. I emailed and spoke with a gentleman named Andy several times. Andy assured me that the move would go smoothly (what move ever does?). They promised to bring 10 wardrobe boxes. They brought 7, which was not enough. Andy also promised the would be "a lot of other things" we might need i.e., boxes, tape, wrapping materials. They brought none. Andy also said they would help us move expensive art work, with moving blankets. The mover refused to touch the artwork.The two movers we had, we very polite. but seemed more concerned with what the company would allow them to do and not allow them to do. They seemed very concerned about what the company's expectations of them were. I'm not sure why. They were great for moving the large pieces and that was about it.
Description of Work: They moved a one bedroom apt to a one bedroom Mother-in-law suite about ten minutes away. There was only two large pieces of furniture. No appliances.Should have been a smooth move.

As much as it disappoints me to see bad ratings for my company, I have to agree with your comments. My crews are trained to have sufficient wardrobes on all trucks so you should have never had that problem. As part of our service, we always carry at least 10 wardrobes for free use the day of your move, as well as cardboard for soft crating of items such as china cabinets and free padding and shrink wrapping of all furniture, to also include floor, door, and railing protection. One sensitive item for moves is the transportation of art work and other valuable items of our customers. It is not our norm to have picture cartons on our trucks, unless our customers request that. I believe your estimate was done over the phone so there may have just been a miscommunication regarding what was needed from us for the day of your move. With the vulnerability of insurance coverage issues, we always want to ensure that our customers are protected as much as possible. I would like to say thank you for making the comments about the crew being polite and professional. I am so proud of the wonderful, professional moving crews that work for Campbell Moving. I promise you that I will address this issue with my crew chiefs and movers to ensure that we are always maintaining the "A" quality and rating that our Angie's List customers have come to know over the years. On the day of the move JC and the crew came right on time at 8:30AM. They were very professional and accommodating. They were able to move some additional boxes and items that we had already packed. Once we arrived at the new house, they moved all of the items into the rooms that my wife wanted and moved some items that my wife wanted in the storage room in the basement. They were able to complete the move at 2:30PM. The only con was that one of the lamps was broken during the move. Overall, it was a very good experience.
Description of Work: We contacted Campbell Moving to help us move from 3BR town house in Sterling to our new single family home in Ashburn. We requested a furniture move only with some boxes that we had already packed. Bill gave us an estimate of 5-6 hours with 1 hour for travel time. This estimate was right on the mark. Bill also provide me with a recommendation for a pool table mover and everything was coordinated for the same day of the move.

We try to stress to all customers the importance of proper packing of fragile items such as lamps and pictures, We realize that a customer self pack job may sometimes be less than professionally packed without the proper boxes and materials. We usually reccomend on a short move if the customer has the time to transport some small fragile items such as these in the car. Campbell Moving did an excellent job for us. Not only were they punctual, but they were EARLY and arrived at 8:15 am instead of the estimated 8:30-9am arrival. They were able to move us in 6 hours and that included providing us wardrobe boxes and wrapping ALL furniture in furniture pads and shrink wrapping our white couch and chair. We only had a minor tick on one of our inexpensive bookcases, but the team lead was incredibly professional and immediately notified me of the minor damage and was incredibly apologetic. All of our large, heavy, expensive pieces were in tact and had no damage. The three men were extremely hard working and efficient. They were also very respectful and patient with questions or directives in regards to setting up the furniture at the new home. I would absolutely recommend Campbell moving to friends and family and should we ever need movers again I wouldn't hesitate to call them. A big THANK YOU to the Campbell team!
Description of Work: We moved from a 2 bed/2bath condo in Annandale to a single family home in Alexandria. They provided 3 movers and a full size truck. We also had a storage unit and large utility closet. We moved all breakable boxes and art ourselves, they took all other boxes, bins, furniture, and wardrobe boxes on the truck.

We LIVE for reports like this. I can not tell you how grateful that Angie's List has become a near household word. We were lucky enough to be placed by someone on the "List" about 4 years ago before it was such a well known and now "well advertised" company. I see the commercials on TV and chuckle to myself that "MY COMMERCIAL" is on. As long as we keep getting these 'A" reports, Campbell Moving will continue to grow. My only regret is that it seems that only about one third of our customers come back and remember to review us. Just a week ago we recieved an 'F" and it really hurt down deep. Unfortunatly, I believe we were unfairly treated with that grade. We did make a mistake on that move but it should not have been escalated to an F. Great experience overall - Andy was on time and professional for the initial estimate and quote. Answered all my questions throughout the process. The movers arrived at my house at 8:45am and were finished by 1:15. Nothing was damaged, they asked good questions to make sure everything ended up in the right room at the new house. All furniture was wrapped and protected, floors on the move out and the move in were protected. Nice guys - would definitely recommend. Made a stressful process so much easier.
Description of Work: Local move to new house. I packed 85% myself and had some help with the kitchen the day of the move. Assembled 2 beds, moved piano as part of household move.
