The crew arrived on time and worked hard. The job was performed as specified, and things went quickly and efficiently. There was a mix up about the initial scheduling of the job and about the pricing for those services which went over and above the deal I had purchased on Angie's List. That is, I had requested an extra man for the crew as well as extra packing materials, and for those there was understandably an extra charge which Danny Maldanado and I had agreed upon when I scheduled the job. There was a little bit of a mix up about the rate once the packing crew calculated the bill. However, the confusion was due to simple human error/communication issues and was very quickly resolved. It is my impression that this is a company which will do what it takes to earn and keep your business. I would recommend them and employ them again. Thanks!

Thank you member for your review and for your understanding regarding the billing. Angie's List has started a great tool/resource in which to find great deals for smaller moves. It is new to us and the crews so we are still working through the new process, but it has proven to be a tremendous success. I'm so glad to hear that your move went well and will pass on your review to the crew chief of your move. Our guys and gals are always so appreciative to hear good words about the hard work they perform for us everyday. Thank you for the opportunity to serve. Wayne Brown Vice President

Wayne Brown returned my call on the same day and did and excellent job questioning me to determine my moving requirements. He also did his best to present me with options, including the use of coupons to reduce my costs. The team arrived on time and were knowledgeable, professional and personable. They listened to all of our requests and demonstrated care in the handling of our expensive furniture as well as day to day items. They were quite efficient and exceeded our expectations. I would definitely hire them again.

Campbell's moving services were great. I purchased a deal for 3-hours of moving services and 1-hour of travel time, and they were able to move everything within that time frame. They were highly efficient, took zero breaks (as far as I could tell) and all my furniture and boxes made the transit with minimal damage (one broken wine glass which was probably my fault for not properly packing). Do keep in mind that I did a lot of prep work prior to the move such as disassembling my dining table, along with the bed frame and TV stands and other such items. This was done so that on moving day, I only had boxes and solid items to carry - nothing loose. They also offered to go above and beyond by asking to take things which I was going to come back for later. Having to move alone isn't great, but having people like Campbell's to assist you made the task a lot more pleasant. I only gave a B in responsiveness because I had to contact them myself to schedule the moving date after purchasing the deal, whereas the site stated that they would contact me within 48 hours.

Thank you member for your great review here. I am happy that we are able to offer great deals to our customers. The Angie's List deals are a new process to us so still a little bit of a learning curve as we work through the process from start to finish. However, I am glad to hear everything went according to plan and we are here in the future should you ever need us again. Wayne Brown

Prior to my move, I received 3 quotes from various Angie's List top rated movers. All three performed in home estimates that were very similar. They basically ranged between a 7-9 hour move with a crew of 3-4 people. My first choice, which covered the DMV area, was headquartered in MD and wanted 2 hours for travel time (vs 1 hour for the other two), so I went with my second choice, which was Campbell. The 4 man crew arrived on time and prepped the house to minimize damage/tracking dirt inside the house. While not the best moving crew I've had (this is my 4th move), they were generally efficient. They took a lot of time wrapping all my furniture in order to prevent it from getting damaged. That process seemed to slow the move, but was worthwhile as only one item suffered minor damage (a leaning bookcase ended up getting a 1"x 3" chip on its leg). Overall there were a few wall scratches at the old residence that I was able to address with the Magic Eraser. My new home didn't have any visible damage. My only major complaint was that the move was supposed to include 1 stop to self storage. When we left our house, the truck was completely full, which resulted in the crew unloaded the truck and then doubling back to self storage. When I called the company at my house to let them know the truck was full, they were focused on the estimate they gave me (wanting to see if it came within that time) as opposed to the wasted time that would occur since the truck they sent was too small. I called them the day after my move and they agreed to crediting me 30 minutes time, and sent me a check promptly. I probably should have pushed for more, but that 30 minutes was the minimum I was willing to receive for the wasted time. Overall, I would consider using them again, but its not a lock.

Dear Customer, thank you for your review. On the positive side, I am glad that your original estimated time to complete your move was dead on - to include the extra stop at storage. However, it does appear that a couple extra feet was needed so that is where the exact science of estimating gets a little tougher when you have to guess at space needed from sites unseen. We do run moving trucks of 26' with an additional 5' for overhang so these trucks are used daily moving townhomes and single family homes. At the end of the day, though, I am glad to see that the overall experience with Campbell was a positive one and was more than happy to refund the extra 1/2 hour needed due to the additional time needed to get the items from the storage unit. We are very appreciative of your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Thank you. Wayne Brown

They offered me the best price out of 3 moving companies, and were also easier to get a hold of and quicker to respond. The packing crew showed up an hour early and packed everything more carefully than I would. The loading crew came the next day, a little bit early, and loaded everything into the truck in about three hours. They didn't damage any of the furniture, or any of the walls at either the house I left or the house I moved into. They worked very hard, and most of the workers spoke excellent English. The only damaged item was a movie screen, which unfortunately looked like an ordinary roll of canvas. I probably should have wrapped it myself. Unfortunately, the driver bumped my car with the moving van, and the tiny impact was in a very expensive place on my very expensive car. Their insurance paid for all $2900 of the repairs, and a rental car; and with the new paint job, my car looks even better than it did before the accident.

Dear Member, thank you very much for your review here. I had the pleasure of speaking with you directly and am glad to hear that your move went well, with the unfortunate small accident. I am glad that we were able to take care of that for you, which is the main reason why we carry full insurance coverage. The logistics of things while maneuvering these large trucks can be very difficult at times, but I am very proud of the great drivers that we have here driving all over the U.S. for us every day. We selected them because the first month of storage was free and the rates for storage after that was really reasonable compared to the other bids I received. We were not sure how long our stuff would be in storage, so they were the best choice for us. Al and Andy were our movers, and they were great: they were careful, efficient, and very nice. We asked for them, in particular, to be part of the delivery team at the new house. The moving coordinator was also very pleasant but sometimes a bit slow in his response to emails. Overall, I was very pleased with the service and would definately use them again!

It was fantastic - from the first call to set up the estimate to the after-move help we needed on an emergency basis for some things we couldn't pack in time for the full house move date. We have moved many times both locally and intrastate, corporate moves from West to East Coast with relocation services, etc. and this was the BEST moving company we've ever used. NOTHING GOT DAMAGED - household goods or walls, doorways in houses/apartment. We had 3 levels to our house in Northern Virginia (walkout front to our house, main living quarters is up one flight of stairs; kids bedrooms are up another flight of stairs). I am very picky about having things done right. I have a 5'10" grand piano which I've never allowed 'movers' to move, I've always used a piano mover. I can't believe I allowed a moving company to move our piano (neither can the rest of our family) but it worked out well. I watched like a hawk the whole time; when they were dismantling the piano I told them that the piano was a gift from my now deceased Mother to my daughter and reminded them that it was irreplaceable. They got the message, though I needn't have worried. I required the piano to be loaded last and on a cart so it could be unloaded overnight to their climatized warehouse and reloaded on to the truck for next day delivery; I made this arrangement with the estimator, Andrew. The arrangement was his suggestion when describing how they would move my piano. I saved hundreds of dollars in having Campbell move my piano over hiring a piano mover, given the mileage involved. I would not have done it if they could not have placed the piano in conditioned storage overnight, however. Phase 1 of the move included extremely heavy, irreplaceable items: Two huge solid wild cherry armoires made in France and three original mid-century modern dressers. Phase 2 included other extremely heavy items: a huge safe the size of a side by side refrigerator, large solid cherry buffet and butterfly-leaf dining table also from France (the table being hard to move because it opens easily), and a vintage, thick-glass/heavy coffee table - all without a hitch. Everything was meticulously and efficiently wrapped in moving quilts and/or plastic wrap. The items going to the apartment were awkward to move because the apartment is a 'garden' apartment, down a short flight of stairs with an impossible turn at the end to get through the door. They moved those heavy French armoires in there without touching the doorframe!! I watched. COSTS: The BEST news is, Campbell's gives a FLAT RATE BINDING COST for the whole household move! So, no matter how long it took going from Northern Virginia across 2 beltways to Baltimore County - no matter how much traffic, the cost was the same to us. Because Phase 2 made us a 'second time' customer, we received a 5% discount. There are extra charges with any mover for unusual items and here is our cost breakdown: 1) Cost of moving household goods: $4275.00, 2) cost of moving safe: $75, 3) cost of moving grand piano: $250; 4) subtotal of above: $4600; 5) total cost minus 5% of subtotal: $4370. EXTRA: We did elect to increase the insurance and we paid an extra $200 to insure $50,000.00 worth of household goods. NOTE: your homeowners insurance does not cover the kinds of things that this extra insurance does. We know - we have USAA Insurance and we asked them. They agreed with what Campbell told us on that front, and we told Campbell that we would defer determining if we wanted extra insurance until move day as we were going to check with USAA. Campbell understood and agreed with our doing this. OTHER CONSIDERATIONS: It matters to us that Campbell's is a veteran-owned, family-owned and operated business. Where we have a choice, we prefer to do business with companies such as theirs. The attention and care you get from Campbell's is incredible and helped reduce the stress in our complicated move. They say in their literature that no job is too big or too small and they proved this with us. They would have just moved our 10-12 piece Phase 1 stuff whether or not we engaged them to do the full house move. MOVING CREW: Jonathon was the team leader for both of our moves; he was phenomenal. ALL the members of both of our moving crews were fantastic. They are SO CAREFUL with your stuff. They put down carpet protectors, they communicate when moving big heavy things so they don't nick your doorways, walls, or your furniture; they are FAST yet careful, efficient and effective. They are gracious people. I don't know how Campbell finds these moving experts for their crew but they obviously have a secret that no other moving company has. BACK OFFICE: Campbell was great from our first call to our last. We got appointments quickly for estimates - Phase 1 estimate was over the phone since it was for about 10-12 items of furniture. For Phase 2, we opted to load & move on the 2 days of a weekend to minimize traffic snarls across the 2 beltways. The day after our items were delivered, the back office really helped us out of a jam. We had some family medical emergencies that occurred late in our packing phase which necessitated our being out of town. This meant I could not get everything packed in time for the loading day and we couldn't change the date. We would have to move some items ourselves via a rented U-Haul truck. I chose the kitchen to move ourselves as it takes a lot of time to pack the breakable items and that would give me time to focus on stuff that would be loaded & moved by Campbell's. It turns out, there were more items than just those in the kitchen that we would have to move ourselves. We had to be out of our old house on the Monday night - the day after Campbell's delivered our household goods on Sunday to our new home in Maryland. I had miscalculated the amount of stuff we had to move ourselves and we were exhausted from all the packing (my husband was out of town so I did most of it - 18 years of household goods). A friend helping me to finish packing the remaining stuff on the Monday after the Campbell's delivery of our household goods to Maryland sat me down to point out the reality that we could not get it all packed in time to be out of my old house by 9pm, let alone have the muscle to get the stuff moved down a flight of stairs and to the street into the truck - stuff was too heavy and there was too much. I panicked and I called Campbell to see if I could just hire some movers immediately - for that day - to help move the boxes to our U-Haul. You won't believe this: they called me back to say Jonathon was off that day and agreed to come help and provided his number to me. Jonathon got another Campbell employee and came right over. I ended up being fortunate enough to be able to extend our rent-back by an additional day, and Jonathon & colleague not only packed the U-Haul (MUCH more effectively than we could have done) but agreed to come the next day to unload it. We agreed upon a price for the work: he told me to pay him whatever I thought I should pay him, and it went off without a hitch. In the midst of a challenging time in our lives due to our daughter's health, things would have been much more difficult had we not gotten that help which allowed us to vacate the house for the new owners. Campbell's was there to help us in a way they didn't need to be - our contracted move was complete - they didn't need to help someone who was in a pickle because they didn't get their packing done on time. WHAT WE DID: Let me point out that we tip well and in cash, according to the caliber of the work that is done for us. Let me also point out that the crew at Campbell's did not know this for the Phase 1 move and they had no way of knowing whether or not we would do the same for the Phase 2 move. And, for the 'emergency help' to move of stuff via the U-Haul - which I admit was done as a personal engagement, not under the protections provided with work done under a contract to Campbell's, Jonathon was free to set whatever price he wanted to charge. He told me to pay him whatever I wanted to. They did the same caliber of work in all 3 moves. It was August for Phase 2 - it was hot. We ran our air conditioning in the main floor zone even with the front door open on the lower floor so they could cool off when they came up to main level, and we provided cold bottles of water. They really appreciated it. For the emergency move, they brought moving materials to add to that I had purchased and the moving blankets I rented from U-Haul, and they drove the 1.5 hours to unload the next day. We compensated them for gasoline, we paid them well, and we tipped them well. In reality, no price was high enough given the stress we were under. IN SUMMARY, we had a somewhat complicated move, exacerbated by a delay in packing. Campbell came through to meet every one of our needs smoothly and in a timely, professional manner. We cannot recommend Campbell Moving and Storage highly enough; we can't thank them enough for their extra help to us in our time of need. Hire them for your move, you will be glad you did.
Description of Work: There were 2 phases of our move to Baltimore County Maryland from Northern Virginia because my husband's job started in November of 2013 and we had a relocation package which allowed us to get an apartment in Maryland for living during the week. PHASE !: Campbell moved a first load of furniture in March of 2014 to furnish the apartment with enough stuff for temporary living (and to get stuff out of the house in Virginia to prepare it for staging and listing) at a cost of around $700 or so. I don't have the paperwork handy to provide the exact amount. PHASE 2: Campbell provided a second 'full household move' in August of 2014 for the rest of our household goods to our newly purchased home in Maryland which is the $4370.00 cost which included a grand piano, a safe the size of a refrigerator, and a huge motorcycle. We did our own packing, but Campbell did plastic wrap some things thrown in other containers, wrapped some stick-type items (brooms, etc.) at the end so they actually did help us pack some things just to get them loaded.

They ended up not sending 2 trucks, which ended up taking 2 days to complete the move. They started calling and harrassing me and about paying. I told them I would pay after we discussed what they delivered since they didn't do what I asked. I spoke with one person who was very nice, but now can't get ahold of them again. I keep getting told they'll call me back, and then they never do. 10/15/2015 - We resolved all outstanding issues and they gave me a 50% reduction on the moving cost for sending 1 truck instead of 2. I am satisfied with the end result. Changing the D overall to a C.

Our estimator discussed a fixed cost for this move. We talked about using 2 trucks with 5 or 6 men to make the move of 1.8 miles. The move was from Washington DC to Chevy Chase area of Maryland. We ended up sending 7 men with an over sized 30 foot moving van. Our thought process was parking in the city being a problem and the distance being very close a second quick trip could be made if necessary. We made a mistake on the the volume of household goods and the effort it would take. We missed in the area of dismantling and reassembly of several items including beds and gym equipment. The move spilled in to a second day and this was a big concern for the customer as we can understand. There were several days of phone calls going back and forth after the completion to discuss payment. In the end Campbell Moving agreed to a reduction of 50% to compensate. We are happy the customer stated he was completely satisfied with the end result. This have had being the second time moving with us we hope that if there is a third move we will have a chance to do it better.

As I was doing my research for a moving company I had a really hard time controlling my stress level. I have had some of the worst experiences with movers in the past and I wanted to make sure I did my homework correctly this time before choosing a service for my move. I called Campbell Moving after looking at their fantastic reviews and spoke with Matt Campbell the owners son. He was very polite and professional and provided me with all the right information I needed to relieve some of my stress I had been having. Wayne Brown came out to my house and gave me an estimate and I was thrilled with what he had to offer my family. We had previously received 2 estimates from other companies and I just didn't feel comfortable. Campbell Moving was the 3rd estimate and we booked with them on the spot. We were very confident that we were going to be pleased with their services. From the moment those men walked into my house and got to work I knew it was going to be a great day! Hollywood and Sanabrio were so careful and helpful around the house wrapping and packing my things to make sure nothing breaks. Those guys explained to me the right way to pack a box and wrap furniture so I would have a good idea what to expect from the crew throughout the move. They even made suggestions on where to put my furniture in my new house. Not one piece of furniture was damaged and everything was placed neatly and correctly into the rooms I wanted them to go in. These guys completely blew me away, they are the real deal! I will definitely be recommending Campbell Moving to anyone who is in the process of moving.

Thank you member for the great review. I am happy that I was able to meet with you personally. You mention a couple guys on our team that blow me away too, and I will be sure to pass along your sentiments to them. Both of them have about 15 years each in this business, and I couldn't be happier to have them with our company. You bring up a great point about packing and placement of furniture. It is so imperative to pack things the correct way in order to reduce damage. The other great point is that these guys move furniture everyday in all sorts of different dwellings. Other than maybe an interior decorator, these guys have more knowledge than just about anyone else about what fits best where. So happy that everything went great and please let me know if I can be of service in the future. Thanks. Wayne Brown

I have never used movers but we were arriving back from vacation the day before we were to move out and I decided I wanted someone else to do the work. After looking at these reviews, I got a few quotes and they were in the middle as far as price. They were punctual. The guys loading the truck were very courteous and efficient. I was amazing how they could fit everything in the truck with no wasted space. This ended up being an issue though as several items broke during the move due to stress put on the items as others were stacked on top. My daughter's changing table has a huge gouge in the side, my husbands METAL workbench legs got bend 3 inches so it is no longer stable. A few other items of lesser value were also damaged. Each piece of furniture was wrapped before loaded and the guys seemed to handles everything with care so it seemed it was the actual weight in truck that damaged the items. We also have an old mower that you have to do 3 tricks to get it to start so my husband drove it onto the truck. They ended up moving our mower onto a different truck and when it was delivered, they slid it down a ramp. The next day we went to use it and it was spewing gas everywhere and wouldn't start. It costs $400 for repairs. I sent the invoice and pictures to Wayne and haven't heard anything back. It has been almost a month now. Service was so great at first but really disappointed in the end. I won't use them again.

Dear Member, I do apologize for the tardiness in reply and support. It is really hard to put an exact finger on the nature of your damage as these movers stage these trucks on a daily basis in the exact same manner. I always joke that they are masters of Tetris in what they have to do to ensure the truck is packed efficiently and in a manner in which furniture does not move that could cause damage. There are so many issues that can arise from a variety of things, such as type of furniture, weight, sizes and overall integrity. I am sorry to hear that you had some issues but will personally take responsibility to make things right. It is also very hard to determine what could have happened to your mower as we move mowers, and other equipment, on a daily basis. While we can't guarantee the inner workings of a machine, we can still go the extra mile to help in making things right for that as well. I will personally review your move paperwork and take the appropriate actions to rectify things for you. Thank you. Wayne Brown

Moved from town home to single family in April 2014. Everything went well except for the movers breaking my wooden table leg. When I pointed it they tried to rub it off old crack that got stressed and broke but later admitted that it is broken by them, took pictures and asked us to expect call from Campbell moving for repair or replacement that never happened so far. I do understand that accidents do happen and there is always a risk of furniture damage issues when moving and would have given them A if they addressed it.
Description of Work: Broke my table leg. Otherwise everything else went well.

Thank you member for the review. I am glad to hear that the move went well with the exception of the table leg. I will take responsibility for this and review your file with the office staff to see what we can do for you. In this business, things can happen that are unexpected, but that is why we use padding and shrink wrap to cover items and stage them appropriately in the trucks to reduce these problems. I do appreciate your honesty and hope that we can serve you in the future. Thank you. Wayne Brown

From the outset Campbell was nothing but professional and punctual. Andrew came to our home to provide a quote and impressed us with his courtesy and straightforwardness. Of the three companies that we received quotes from Campbell was the clear choice both from our experiences with their people and due to the fact that their price was the lowest. They provided an exclusive right flat rate binding cost move with two weeks of storage. We packed ourselves. The movers were prompt and punctual on both the move out and move in days. They used runners to protect the floors and were very careful not to damage our home or household goods. All furniture was wrapped and padded. Move out and move in lasted approximately four hours each. As mentioned, at the destination our household goods were split between an apartment and a storage unit. The movers did an outstanding job of maximizing space while filling the storage unit, much better than I would have done. I would like to reiterate that everyone we worked with from Campbell, both in person and on the phone, was a pleasure to deal with. Even our two children, 5 and 2, were unable to fluster or frustrate them. I would certainly recommend Campbell for local or long distance moves.

Dear Member, thanks so much for the glowing review here. It was a pleasure to speak with you on the phone and hear first hand the positive experience you had with our crews. You bring up a great point about loading into a self storage facility. It is always a good idea to have trained crews help as it can actually save you money by utilizing the entire space. So happy to hear that everything went according to your expectations, and we greatly appreciate the opportunity to serve. Enjoy your new home. Wayne Brown

I felt comfortable with the estimator right away even though I changed what we wanted packed after he gave a price for partial packing. The office contacted me to see if there were any issues and to confirms dates and times and offer any help in preparation for our move. On packing day the men arrived early, worked quickly and efficiently (packed most everything) then moved on to another job (this was the end of a summer month-a crazy busy time). The next day the movers came, finished packing what was left from the day before, got the truck loaded and unloaded in record time. There were a few minor scrapes here and there , but nothing to complain about. There was a mix up on the pricing and Wayne made a more than fair correction right away ~ no hassles. After 2 months, I'm still unpacking but haven't found a problem yet and don't expect to, either. I would highly recommend them for any move.

For starters, the movers were prompt. A four-man team showed up and they were very professional and worked fast. My only bone of contention was with the estimator that came to our home to provide a general idea of the costs. The initial quote was for 10 hours at $190/hour. We were fine with that and it seemed in line with our initial move into the home. However, the actual time it took the crew to move us was 17 hours over two days - which was a major inconvenience for us. Since the company seemed genuinely apologetic for the way off estimate, we accommodated the additional day - as the movers were dead tired and they worked their butts off the entire time. So imagine my shock when I was presented a bill for approximately $4,000 for 17 hours of work. It took several telephone calls and tired crew waiting to resolve the matter. In the end, the estimator agreed that his mistake should not cost us and honored the original quote. It should be noted that the crew was EXCELLENT! They refused lunch and never took a break. I almost felt sorry for them but they were workers. In the end, I was very satisfied and would use them again; however, I would double check and compare their estimated costs with a few other companies just to be on the safe side.

Dear Member, thank you for your review. First, I want to thank you for your review of our workers. We are so lucky to have such great, experienced crews. I hear it all the time about our crews not taking breaks and working straight through the day so there is not enough I can say about how great they are. In regards to your estimate, I can understand frustration over taking longer than anticipated. Another thing I am proud of here is the experience of our estimators. However, there are many factors that can come into play that cause issues of exceeding estimated times. For starters, a 5-story townhome can be very tricky. A standard 3-level, 3-bedroom is a 4 man crew for 7-8 hours (on average). Add in more floors, and most likely more furniture, I can see the rational in estimating 10 hours for the job. The biggest factor in estimating is typically the unknown. By that I mean not seeing the destination home. Logistics is a big thing in our business in relation to where the truck is parked, how long of a walk from home to truck, how many flights of stairs, weather conditions, extra packing is needed, etc. Overall, I am glad to hear your experience was a good one and most importantly that the crew worked very hard which goes to the point that 17 hours is most likely the best estimate scenario. I will be sure to pull your paperwork and talk with both my estimator and crew chief to see what could have been a root cause for exceeding the estimate and to get a general idea of what we can do to ensure our customers continue to receive the best service from start to finish. Best Regards, Wayne Brown

Overall the "D" rating is the for the office staff. The movers themselves were very good and professional but overall experience got skewed by the office staff. Here are few things that were not acceptable: - We had confirmation to start on Sunday at 9:30. Even on Friday someone had called to reconfirm that time. But, the movers arrived at 8:30 itself. And we asked for some time (some boxes were still open and we were eating breakfast as we were not expecting them for another hour) they said that if they don't start right away they will leave and cancel the job. - Next the movers were not given the instructions about overnight storage and delivery the next day. What was the dispatch manager doing? - It took 4.5 hrs for the movers to load the truck and I initialed that time. When I saw the log on Monday, someone had used whiteout and changed that to 5 hours. This really made me question their professionalism - not sure if the crew did it or the office? - On deliver day I was promised 5 men and only 4 showed up. And then it took them 3.5 hrs but I was suddenly bring told that there is a minimum 4 hour for the day. The estimator had originally promised the minimum applies to the 2 days combined not individual days. - Finally after all this, I am trying to sort out the above billing issues with the office and it took me ~8 business days. That is ridiculous. I emailed and called Danny several times and the answer would be "i will call you today". No return calls or emails and then suddenly I see the wrong charge on my credit card. So finally when I called extremely upset - they got the issue resolved and gave me the refund. I had checked several companies before picking Campbell but after this experience I cannot recommend them to anyone.

We are very sorry you were not completely happy with our office and the way your move went down. We do indeed agree we dropped the ball about getting the crew to start late at your home. The crews are so used to getting to work and dispatching out to customer residences early morning to avoid the heat of the day and also the metro traffic. Also sorry about the driver suggesting to do the move the next day. We had them wait for you to finish breakfast. We agreed to do your move over 2 days but didn't realize the second day you would need a late afternoon unload. Since the unload would take 4 hours or less we tried to save you money by sending a crew of 4 men instead of 5 men. This reduced the hourly rate and saved you about $80.00. Your overall move came in at less than the written estimate by $30.00. As far as the 4 hour minimum daily we are not sure how you were not aware of that. All our local moves have a 3 hour minimum plus the one hour trip/travel fee. The travel time charge is explained on the written estimate we provided you with. Again, we are sorry for the misunderstanding and are glad that the rest of the move went well. Bill Campbell 703 435 2242

We received several bids from Angie's List recommended movers. Campbell Moving and Storage was not the cheapest or the most expensive offer we received. We decided to use Campbell based on their bid and the excellent reviews from other Angie's List users. Our move was broken up into two separate moves. The first move would be to place a large amount of furniture and miscellaneous item into storage for several months while we placed our house up for sale. The second move would be to pick up the remaining items in the house and deliver to our newly built home on one day and to have the movers deliver everything from storage on the final day of our move. This was a complicated move and during the heaviest moving time of the year but Wayne Campbell of Campbell Moving & Storage said they could handle it. One day one the moving team who was supervised by Pepe arrived and quickly determined what would be packed up and what would be left. Pepe and his team did an outstanding job of packing our furnishings and placing it into storage containers. Several months later when our house sold, Pepe and his crew arrived to move pack up and move the rest of our household items to the new home. Campbell Moving and Storage had promised two trucks and six men for the first day of our final move which was going to take two days but one of their trucks had broken down but they said they could still accomplish the first day of our move with one truck and three men. Pepe and his crew worked hard for 12 hours to fill the truck and to deliver all the contents to Manassas Va. On the second day of our move Pepe and his crew packed up the rest of our items and delivered it to the new home. The new home had a new ashpalt driveway which would not allow the truck to park on the driveway so everything had to be moved up a 140 foot driveway. This was very labor intense and Pepe and his crew accomplished this without damaging any of our furniture. The second crew (six men) arrived with our nine containers of furniture and proceeded to move it up the driveway and into the house. Jonathan who supervised the crew was continually motivating and inspiring his crew to complete the task at hand. His crew worked for five hours in 98 degree heat and they took great pride in delivering the items without damage. When boxes were misplaced Jonathan made sure the boxes were put into the correct rooms. Overall this was a very complicated and labor intense move but Campbell Moving and Storage accomplished this to our satisfaction. I would not hesitate to hire them again.

It gives me goose bumps reading reviews like this. I say it all the time, but it is sooo true how blessed we are with the movers we have. Pepe and Jonathan have been in the moving game a while and continue to impress with their leadership and attention to detail. I spent 15 years in the corporate world at the headquarter level of a Fortune 125 company. For once in a long time I actually enjoy waking up in the morning and coming to work early on some days just to see the guys. And, it's because of customer feedback just like this that makes me want to do it more. Again, thank you for the review and for making my day even brighter. Wayne Brown, Vice President

We were given an estimate for the local portion of the move. The salesman looked over everything prior to the move. At the conclusion of the local move, the bill was fully 100% in excess of the estimate. Foolishly, we continued with the interstate move. To begin with the driver had never driven the type of van utilized and was unable to negotiate our driveway without assistance. Glad tp help but this added an hour to the move. In moving a large antique cabinet the men, one of whom said he was 14 years old, dropped the cabinet causing serious damage to it - broken wood, top molding destroyed, broken glass. The movers were to bring 15 wardrobe boxes. They forgot, necessitating another delay. Finally, all was packed and off they went. Upon arrival in SC the broken piece of furniture was returned and repaired reasonably well. However, after the movers departed in the light of day we noticed that although the top molding had replaced, it had not been stained to match the cabinet. In addition, we discovered that that the shelves of a very valuable desk were missing. I called Campbell's and spoke with Matt Campbell who assured me all would be addressed. A week, later, i received a call from a subordinate telling me that Mr Campbell would be calling me the following week. That did not happen. This week i called again and was told that Mr Campbell was unavailable for two weeks. Danny offered to help, but requested i resend the photos of the damaged and missing pieces previously sent to Mr Campbell. This is the topline. There was more. For example, the salesman told us we could talk to Mr Campbell, the founder, anytime we wished. When i finally had occasion to do so, i learned from Matt Campbell that the " elder Campbell" was long retired, didn't deal with customers, and didn't come onto the office. Bottom line - terrific sales pitch. Short on dealing with issues.

Although we never like to hear bad news from our customers, we do take away a lot of positives from our mistakes. We are always looking to do the right thing and when we struggle we tend to do a great job preventing the problem from happening again. In this case the customer was told that there was an under aged boy on the job. This information is absolutely incorrect. We have never hired a minor and had them work on our crews. All of our employees are professionally trained by our veteran movers before being sent out into the field. On the other hand the customer is completely correct about our failure to repair the furniture that was damaged to their liking. We will learn from this and get better. There was miscommunication within our team regarding Bill Campbell's ( the owner ) availability to speak directly with customers. However, I am available anytime to respond to questions or concerns from customers regarding their move. Thanks again for the review and we look forward to doing a better job next time around. Overall, we liked working with them because they were efficient and completed the job on time. Also, the company did not "nickle and dime" us for every little thing (tape, boxes, etc.) but instead gave us a flat rate that included everything. We were really pleased with the results.
Description of Work: They arrived on time with their truck and several movers. They then proceeded to wrap and/or box all unwrapped/unboxed items, both big and small (couches, chairs, desks, kitchen utensils, etc,) as there was need. Since we'd already boxed some items, we'd done some of the work for them; however, in future, we'll let them do the entire job. Their movers were polite, punctual and focused. The guys really worked hard to move us and were able to lift some incredible loads in ways even we couldn't repeat!

Thank you very much for the wonderful review. You bring up a great point in regards to pricing. We have been around nearly 40 years and I feel pretty strongly that we have figured this moving thing out :-) Different companies do things different ways. It doesn't mean that it's necessarily the right way or the wrong way. However, we try to keep things as simple as possible - meaning an easy pricing and billing method to include labor and materials. The easier it is for you, the easier it is for us too. I'm so glad to hear you were happy with every facet of the move and let us know if you have a need in the future. Wayne Brown
