Augustine Roofing LLC

Augustine did a very good job replacing the roof, skylight and gutters on our 3 story townhouse. We brought in 4 companies all well recommended on Angie's List, and chose Augustine for a couple of reasons. They did one of the most thorough inspections of our existing roof (they got up on the roof, in the attic crawlspace etc) to ensure they knew exactly what needed to be done (I was surprised that some of the other companies didn't do that). They came in with the lowest price for the exact same Certainteed roofing products that the other companies also used. The roof install and skylight replacement went very well. The installers were prompt, courteous and quick and did an excellent job cleaning up (they put down a tarp that caught most of the debris and then they went over the entire yard with a magnetic rake to catch anything else). They did damage a small piece of wood along the side of our chimney but they came out and replaced it pretty quickly (although the paint color doesn't quite match the existing wood so you can tell that small part was replaced, we will probably repaint that piece ourselves to get the color matched correctly). The gutter replacement was ok. That install was done the next day by a different crew (unclear whether they were Augustine employees or a sub contractor). They did a good job replacing the gutters, our only complaint was the clean up, or lack of. They cleaned up the major debris but left lots of nails and small debris that we had to clean up ourselves. Overall the experience was very good and I think we got a high quality roof for a very reasonable price. The only reason for the B rating on quality was the little issues like clean up and the miss matched paint on the wood they replaced, couldn't bring myself to give an A rating because of those. Everything else was an A and I would definitely recommend them to friends and neighbors.

Contractor arrived to determine what needed doing and also did temporary patches of 3 parts of roof that were leaking into ceilings of rooms. Told me exactly what needed doing and why. I got 2 other estimates, but decided to go with Augustine based on cost and explanations. Workers arrived on schedule and were at my house for 12 hours the first day. Contactor came by to check on work mid way. All work was completed the morning of the second day and contractor returned again to make sure everything was completed properly. Upon completion of work, everything was cleaned up and taken away.

Rick came by and gave an estimate. I accpeted estimate. Materials were dropped off on July 1st in sealed container as expected. It rained on the initial start date (July 2nd) and rescheduled date (July 3rd). Tried to communicate with the roofers on the reschedule date but did not hear back. Roofers showed up July 5th to complete job with no prior communication. The first I heard about job was the house sitter notifying me of the job start and completion. No communication was made until I showed up to make payment several weeks later, where I met owner and wife. Very nice at shop. Job was completed with excellent quality and workmanship. Overall had very positive experience and would conduct business again in future as well as recommend to friends/family.

Excellent job. Rick came out a day earlier then scheduled so they could get it done before a potential storm.

Provider had to delay one day due to weather. On day of service, provider was punctual and did a good job. Provider cleaned up work area promptly.

Called and an appointment quickly, we had a leak into the house from the roof. They came out and gave us a estimate and did a temporary repair until they could come out and do a complete repair. Great work.

We were extremely pleased with the high caliber of work and professionalism of the entire staff from Augustine Roofing. We called for an estimate and received an appointment within a week. Our estimator, Rick, arrived on time and conducted a comprehensive inspection of our roof and sent his estimate via e-mail within a day. We selected Augustine over the two other estimates we received not only because of their reasonable price, but because of the industry knowledge communicated by Rick during his estimate and the high quality products used by Augustine. When we signed the contract, we were told the job would be scheduled in 2-3 weeks, but within a few days of signing the contract, we were contacted by an Augustine scheduler and the job was scheduled for the next week. True to their promise, materials were delivered on the date of the job but due to weather, the job had to be pushed back one day. A representative from Augustine called us early on the rain delay day to let us know the crew would be back the following day. The job took place as scheduled and the entire roof - down to the rafters - was taken off and replaced in one day. Every outside area that could possibly be impacted by a new roof installation was covered and protected. Old materials were hauled away the same day and the yard was meticulously cleaned upon completion. The new roof, gutters, and gutter screens look exceptional. A top notch company with a top notch team of employees.

Based on the positive reviews here and other sites, I contacted Augustine Roofing to get an estimate on replacing our roof. An appointment was scheduled for 7/18/13 at 7:00AM. Both my wife and I took off work to be at this appointment, and Augustine Roofing was a no show. I contacted them around 7:30AM, and Tony, who runs the office, took responsibility for the error, stating that he had put it down as 7:00PM. He said he could take off $700 from the bill for the error and inconvenience. We set up another appointment with Bill Augustine, the owner, for the following day at 7:00AM. Bill was on time, and gave us a lot of good information regarding our roof. He wrote up an estimate on the spot, and we were very comfortable with him. We thought we had found our roofing contractor. As we already had other estimates lined up, we decided to follow through with them. One of them mentioned the option of a synthetic underlayment, so I decided to email Bill and ask him about it, and also to mention that I planned to use the $350 Angie's List coupon that he didn't have on the estimate. I never received a reply, text message or phone call from Augustine Roofing, Inc. And I had copied in Tony, the office manager, so I find it hard to believe that neither one received the email. I just don't believe he was interested in the job any longer after having to take the $700 off for missing the first appointment, and having to honor the $350 Angie's List coupon. I guess that $1050 discount cut too much into his profit margin. And I should note that I did not ask for the discount. It was offered to me. Their conduct in ignoring my email is very unprofessional. I cannot speak for their work, but if they're willing to ignore potential customers before they have a dime, what would one expect once they have your money? I ended up finding a wonderful roofing contractor, and while they were significantly more money, they were worth it. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for, and I certainly did in this case. UPDATE: Since placing this initial review, Augustine Roofing has contacted us stating they did in fact respond to my email and have called and sent multiple emails trying to resolve the miscommunications and earn our business. We did not receive this email they state they sent, and one would have thought they would have followed up with a call or another email as it had been two weeks since they claim to have sent the email in question. I am not sure why it took so long for them to respond, but we have decided to move forward with a different contractor. We have upgraded their grade to a "C" based on their insistence that they did in fact send the email even though we did not receive it.

It went well. Very responsive when I asked them to return to address a couple of soft spots and add a couple of vents that were not in the original contract.

Had a leaky roof and asked for an estimate to have it repaired. I did have an issue with them at first with quote and work being done without my consent. However they did come back and make things right and the Job they did was excellent and the leek is gone. They would have received a better score if it were not for the miscommunication at the start.

Augustine Roofing LLC came out that night and fixed it. He did a great job!

Went smoothly and roof was completed in 1 day. Cleanup was just about perfect, which I greatly appreciated. Would highly recommend Augustine to anyone.

Work went as scheduled even when they uncovered problems with old wood on roof and water damage on porch. These problems were fixed at a reasonable cost. We've gotten nothing but compliments on our home makeover. The crews were professional and hard working even in very hot and humid weather. We couldn't have picked a better firm.

They repaired a portion of our roof that was leaking and had rotted out. Once into the job, there was extensive damage that they addressed as well. The service and experience was excellent. Rigo was the project manager that I dealt with and he was great!

I just wanted to drop a note saying that we have been very impressed with the professionalism of the company and their crew. The crew did an amazing job on our roof--just within a one day ! To replace our roof, we had four companies to give us an estimation and finally chosen Augustine Roofing LLC based on our friend's recommendation and its reasonable price. I feel so happy that we made a correct decision. They also helped us to fix our drywall of ceiling even though it is not due to replacing the roof. We are so touched by their amazing service. Augustine Roofing LLC will be the first one we call the next time we need a roofer.

Augustine roofing is a wonderful company to work with. They were very accommodating when I had to postpone the installation of the new roof due to rain. They were able to quickly reschedule the appointment. Their crew was great and work for over 12 hours on one day removing the old roof and installing the new one. Also, they were very meticulous when cleaning up the debris from the removal of the shingles. I would definitely recommend them and would use them again.

It went very smooth throughout, even during rainstorms. they did a good job of cleaning the area around the house. Their attention to detail with flashing around chimney, vents, new skylight and roof fan was excellent. They had a good crew that worked in harmony together. we are happy.

I set up an appointment to get an estimate on a job. They never showed up or call to cancel the appointment. If this is representative of their customer service, I would not want them doing any work on my roof, as it is highly unprofessional and they do not care about wasting my time. I guess after all the high marks on Angie?s list their service has significantly dropped.

We were very pleased with Bill Augustine and his company. Bill had helped us out with a problem during Hurricane Sandy last year, where our old cedar shake roof was leaking and water was coming into the house. Bill called during the lead up to the storm and even sent several men on short notice to tarp up the problem area. At a time when most companies are swamped with customers, Bill took the time to take my call and help us. That really struck me as the definition of going the extra mile for the customer. We decided to wait until the spring to replace the roof, and Augustine was the clear choice to do it. We got three bids, but Augustine was the bid that we felt offered the most, price, quality, service, etc. Tony in the office was very helpful, always emailing me information I requested (business license, customer contacts for references) and personally bringing sample shingles so we could see the colors. We had to get our HOA to approve the roof, so that took extra time, but we finally were ready to proceed. Augustine's crew showed up timely, worked from 7 am to dark (approx. 9 pm) and mostly finished up everything in one day, and cleaned up every last speck of tar paper, nails, etc. from all around the house! I was impressed with that. A partial crew came back the next day to finish up (took about a half day) and now we have a great new roof! The roof looks absolutely fabulous and we are very glad we contracted with Augustine.

I researched and chose 5 roofing companies which were highly rated on Angie's List and had reviews of work which had been done in my area. I called on a Thursday morning, and Augustine was able to schedule for the following Tuesday. The company is located in Sterling, which is about 40 miles from my home. Rick called in the morning because he knew he would not have been able to make it to my house by 11:00 am. We agreed to a later time, and he did arrive within the later window. I explained what I wanted from the estimate, and he went to measure and look at the roof. He gave me a folder with information about his company, and told me that he would go back and send me an estimate via email. He was able to get back to me with the estimate within a day. The bid was competitive with the others I received, but my husband and I decided to go with another company.

They took off the old roof, put on a new one and cleaned up all the mess afterwards. I think they brought their own hauling service to the old stuff out. It was all gone by the time I got back home. I left in the morning and had a new roof in the afternoon.

Everything turned out great. They were very fast and friendly and courteous and did a thorough job.

Their price was lower than everybody else. They were responsive. They were more than willing to talk through their quote and provide information. It was not a high pressure sale at all, which was very nice. They were professional. They insured that their roofing system was in great shape before they asked for their payment so the invoice wasn't on the day of install; it was thereafter giving me time to insure the work was in quality shape before sending my check. They were an all around great company to deal with. The pricing and quality of work was top notch. I would definitely use them again.

From estimate to doing the job to cleaning the work site, Augustine Roofing was completely professional. The crew arrived on a Tuesday morning and worked together like a well-oiled machine. These folks know what they are doing and do it expertly. By 2pm, they had finished all the work and had carefully run a large magnet around the work site and surrounding ground to ensure that no nails were left laying about. The roof and gutter guards look terrific--we could not be more pleased with the fabulous job done by Augustine Roofing.
