After getting a confirmation from a pest control inspector that a raccoon was entering the attic through a hole in the roof of a townhouse I own, I spoke to 4 roof companies and had them inspect the roof to determine what needed to be done to take care of the problem. Because of the age of the roof and the extent of damage, 3 of the roof companies recommended total replacement. I chose Augustine Roofing because of their willingness to explain and discuss specifics of their recommendations and their estimated price. Also, Rick from Augustine, was very helpful in explaining the progress of their work.

We had ice dam problems the winter of 2010/2011, with some water damage inside the house. After clearing it and thinking we were ok, we again had some water issues in the winter of 2011/2012. Rick Newman was the Foreman who came out to give us an estimate, and he said the roof could be patched and we would be ok for a couple years, but the existing roof would probably need replacing within 2-3 years. We decided to replace it then - it was a slow time for them and they gave us a good price, very competitive with the two other estimates we received. They showed up on time, were very professional, and were done in one day. They cleaned up at the end of the day, using magnets to get the nails out of the yard. The crew that came out were very polite and easy to work with - we were home the whole day. In December of 2013 we were remodeling our upstairs bathroom, and noticed some moisture in the attic. I called them up to ask them about it and they came out to look. It seemed there was a lot of condensation building up in our attic with the cold weather, and Rick said it was probably warm air getting into the attic and condensing. He said that it really seemed like there was more than just air from the house seeping into the attic, that maybe we had a leak in the heating ductwork somewhere. Even though he was sure it wasn't the roof leaking, he offered to install a temperature and humidity activated attic fan for free, capping the existing ridge vent in the process. They came out three days later to install it, and were done in a couple of hours. We are very happy with their work, and especially their response to our problems. We have recommended them to a few neighbors over the past year and a half, and can comfortably recommend them to anyone that needs roof work done.

I had a 13-year-old, builder-grade roof on my townhouse that was in need of replacement. I received a total of 3 bids, including Augustine's. My first choice for the work, based on reviews and ratings on A.L., was Augustine. Additionally, Rick took the time to review all my concerns with the existing roof and propose potential solutions. At the end of the bidding process, Augustine was not the lowest bidder, but the interview with Rick and the knowledge that Augustine was a highly rated, punctual roofing company made them an easy choice. Augustine showed up on time, on the day that Rick and I agreed upon. The foreman on the project, Francisco, was excellent, communicative, and helpful. The job was finished on time (1 day effort), and on budget, despite a miscalculation in judging the amount of supplies needed to complete the job. The only improvement on the effort I can think of was regarding cleanup and nail pickup. Granted, I am fairly OCD when it comes to these things, it was after dusk, and dropped nails can sometimes be stealthy to locate. It was no big deal to go over my and my neighbors' areas the next morning to ensure there would be no issues with flat tires. Rick was excellent in follow up after the job, addressing all my questions to my satisfaction. In my opinion, the price was fair for this area and the job could not have been done better. I can be a hard customer to please--I admit to this. I do not freely give reviews of praise. I am happy; in my book, this holds weight. I would recommend Augustine roofing without reservation to any homeowner in need of roof repairs or a new roof.

Rick Newman is a very nice fellow . During the estimate he took photos of my roof to show me the areas that needed work. Also he used my garden hose to flush out a problem spot in the back of the house. That was something he didn't have to do as the roofing crew was coming to do that. I used a $75 coupon so the total amount was $850. The estimate included the gutters and downspouts being flushed. I noticed when the men arrived they were using an air hose to clean out the gutters in the front. The estimate said they would flush them with the garden hose along with the downspouts. I asked the workers if they could use water since I didn't think air would push all the debris out of the downspout. They said the air would work fine so I called Augustine to communicate to them to use water. The workers ended up using some water but seemed to be in a hurry to get to another job. Overall they were great except for this issue. I would hire them in the future to replace my roof.

Having interviewed 5 contractors, I chose Augustine Roofing LLC because, Rick, who explained the process to me, was the most knowledgeable and thorough. As Rick supervised the job, he told me what to expect and kept me well informed throughout. I found it helpful to know first thing in the morning, or the previous evening, when there would be weather delays. I was impressed with Rick's attention to detail and responsiveness to my requests during the entire procedure. The workmen were courteous, punctual, and considerate in their post work clean up. I would recommend this company to anyone with roofing needs.

I'm only writing this review because of the great work Rick has done and how he's provided a great roof that has not leaked yet after we've had several rain and snow storms. They beat out EVERYONE's estimate and still did an AMAZING JOB. My roof was old and it had leaks that would keep coming back in the extension that was poorly built by previous contractors. I've had roofers and contractors throughout the years do patchwork here and there to buy me some time to get it replaced. I called the most popular roofers, smaller companies, largest roofing companies to get estimates and to understand what my roof needs. The last thing I needs was a bad roof job and leaks going into winter. That feeling of being robbed by my contractor will set in again. I had to make sure I hired the right person who would do the roof RIGHT the first time and for a affordable price. Ricks price was far below what I thought he could do for a company his size. He really went out of his way to win my business. I reviewed Angie's List and the review were many and outstanding reviews. I'll be truthful about something. A lot of people say get some Hispanics they have the best prices or if you hire a big Company a white guy will come and waste your time and give you some monster quote. I try to block out all that and have tried to give each contractor an open mind an opportunity to win my business. I'm looking of people I can depend on long term that don't try to rob me. Rick treated me like a human being and sounded honest in his analysis of my roof when we met. From my research and estimates from listening to other roofers I was able to understand Rick's knowledge of roofing and WHY and HOW he wanted to replace my roof. He wasn't trying to oversell or do less than what was needed for the job to be done right. But I believe every person I work with that price and quality is important. If we agree on a price I expect the company to keep that price. If there are any changes or additions to the price the company should be able to provide a good estimate before hand and not try to take my head of after I've given them the job. Above all else the quality of work needs to be right. Rick asked that before I start the job I should let him know to see what he can do. So I did, I had great estimates with great contractors. Even estimates from bad contractors. LOL. I'm still have trouble trusting a young contractor that I have to ask questions to multiple times. Seems like he spends more time getting dressed up rather than listening to what I was saying. But rick was different than that.. I reviewed the estimates with him and the work that was being done. Bear in mind that I've also review this with other contractors. Even my personal general contractor I use for a lot of my work. But with the roof I wanted to hire an expert so my general contractor was not happy. Rick's as a person was someone I could work with. Augustine roofing's review were great. The price was great and the level of roof replacement he wanted to seemed like what was needed for the job. Overall for the reputation, the price, and quality of work and service Augustine Roofing was the best offer. They beat out everyone and I was shocked. So I accepted their estimate and set a date for the work to be completed. The did the job in one day and the job was great. The shingles all lined up well and I walked on the roof an inspected it. The nails were all picked up and they removed all the trash. I met up with Rick after the job and we inspected the roof together and he answered all of my questions. I don't mind if he ever call even for updates on the roof or to see if I have any work for him. I think this was a great job that was done and I had to wait long enough for the snow and rain storms we have here so I can really test this roof for leaks. So far no leaks and we've had some mean storms. I think this job has been a surprise to me and Rick has exceeded what I expected from a roofer for this job when I initially starting taking estimates. I think he knows what an average family needs from a contractor and he's really over delivered this time.

Augustine Roofing had previously done a great job completing siding and roofing repairs for me. When we needed to have the soffits replaced, they came out on the day promised and completed the work beautifully. I was not at home during the repair but when I did return, the area was completely cleaned up. I am very happy!!

I usually get several estimates, talk to the people, and get a feeling about who I will hire. I try to educate myself about the work I will have done around my house. I don't want to be taken advantage of and would like to know what they are doing. Most companies that are knowledgeable and sure of themselves don't have a problem answering questions. Augustine Roofing was one of five companies that I called for estimates this past summer. Rick came to my house and handed me a folder of the shingle types with colors. Rick told me that he wasn't a salesman and didn't have a sales pitch for me, but he was a roofer and he would give me the opinion and estimate from a roofers point of view. We talked about a new roof and gutters. I wanted gutter screens on the gutters, but Rick didn't recommend that since they weren't needed. I told him that I wanted to compare all of the estimates and that the others gave me quotes for the gutter screens. Rick told me that he would install them if I wanted. I did some research about the shingles and what I needed. I called Rick a few times with questions and the other companies as well. I am a teacher and I went back to work in the middle of August, so I didn't have the time to call anymore or to follow up. Rick and the other companies called a few times in August and September, but since I was busy it was hard to call. I emailed them instead. Rick was more than willing to email me back with information. One company insisted that I call them, but I don't have a phone in my classroom and my cell doesn't get a signal. I had called another one of the companies a few times with questions and then emailed them before the guy responded back that I couldn't possibly educate myself about shingles and roofing in emails or looking on the internet. Well obviously I didn't want to work with that company. Rick answered all of my emails without a problem. I was looking at the gutter screens and comparing them with one of the emails to Rick. He dropped off some samples at my house while I was at work to look at. Rick and I met at my house a week later since I had a couple questions about the screens. He showed me how they would attach and told me that if I chose the one brand that he would install them for free since I was an Angie's List customer. I told Rick that I appreciated his patience and willingness to answer my questions. I signed the contract that day and they ordered my shingles and set a date for the job. The crew showed up and started working at 8:00 a.m. on October 24th. It was a cold windy day. The crew quickly stripped the old shingles off and started putting on the ice shield and felt paper. I had a question about the ice shield so I called Rick who was on another job. He came within 15 minutes and we discussed it. While he was there, he was inspecting the work and didn't like how they put on the ice shield and some of the felt paper. He made them take it off and re-do it. Rick went back and forth to my house and another job throughout the day to inspect the work being done. The crew was very professional and appreciative. Since it was so cold that day, I kept making coffee for the crew. They thanked me several times and it seemed to make them happy. I went out to get some paint for the vent stacks to match the shingles and they painted them for me. They were very careful around the house and laid down tarps and made sure they picked up everything. The next day they installed the gutters and screens. I noticed, two days after the job was complete, that they had installed a ridge vent on the front of the house and not the back addition like I had discussed with Rick. I called him the next week and he said that he would come and take a look at it. He called me a few days later and said that he would take care of it. A week later they had capped the front part and put the ridge vent on the addition. Rick was very easy to work with and always available for questions. He returned my calls and emails quickly. While Rick was checking on things during the job he showed me how bad some of wood was that they had to replace. It wound up being 11 sheets of plywood. Rick told me that he would give me a coupon for 5 sheets and tell his boss not to charge for all 11! Rick and the crew at Augustine Roofing were very professional and took pride in their work. At the end of the job the crew cleaned up with large magnets to find any nails in the yard and driveway. Then the crew, 8 men, walked around the entire yard and driveway very slowly and bent over looking for ANYTHING that was left. They found a few nails and even picked up little pieces of paper that were there. I'd never had any crew that was that thorough cleaning up after themselves. Rick, Augustine Roofing, and the crew were great to work with and did a fantastic job!

If needed, I would use Augustine Roofing again. They did a great job with fixing our siding. Our siding was starting to peel off from the bottom up and all we needed was a "J-Channel" piece to be put on the bottom to hold it down. Apparently, being that our siding was aluminum this was easier said then done. I had called other contractors and one had even said he wouldn't do it because aluminum was very hard to work with. Augustine Roofing came out and patched it up right away. The color was perfect, they were on time and very personable. I don't think I have ever worked with such an understanding and kind company. Overall, we are very happy with the end product and Augustine Roofing.

Rick was wonderful. He came on time and gave the best estimate. He also helped ease some obstacles we faced with schedule time. Really liked their work, their professionalism and their customer service. Will definitely recommend them to other people.

Overall it went alright. They came out and looked at my roof and gave me an estimate for repairing it. They did not make the date and time they originally scheduled because it had rained that day and the day before which threw them behind on their jobs. They were out the first thing the next day. They repaired the roof, and the only problem was one of the workmen said that the seal around the vent was bad and I think he thought that he was just repairing some holes from a dish that was on the roof. I told him that I had mentioned to the gentleman that gave me the estimate that I thought the seal around the vent was bad and the estimate was suppose to cover all the repair. The workman said okay and did all the repairs. At this time I have not noticed any leaking from the roof so I think they did a great job.

Augustine Roofing was awesome to deal with. We try to use local businesses as much as possible and it is nice to know such an outstanding group is local to us. I would definitely use them again. We checked around various sources (total: 4) and received estimates from a number of firms. Surprisingly a number of firms didn?t even both to come out to see the roof ? they used satellite and online sources to generate their estimates. Augustine came out to see the house and assess the roof first-hand. They arrived at the scheduled time and were very helpful. They covered all the bases (time to complete, HOA, etc.), and their team was very conscientious of the property when they were on-site. The job was completed on time and on estimate. They did a nice job cleaning up and were very thorough. Their estimate, personal approach, and follow-up placed them well ahead of the group. Great firm to work with.

My roof was installed on a Saturday and Sunday. I chose Augustine Roofing even though their estimate was higher the several others because I did not want to have my job done by subcontracted roofers. Augustine roofers enphisized that they use only employees that are employed by them full time unlike other roofing companies that do not.. That is not what happened. VERY frustrating experiance not being able to stop the problems as they were occuring due to inability to communicate concerns. As of today 6 weeks later, no one has address my issues. In general the roof looks good however there are issues that have yet to be addressed. All are easily fixed, but they need to be fixed. E-mails outlining my issues follow. Sent week roof finished - 1. Why was I told the job would not be subcontracted when it was. I was told everyone working on the job would be directly employed by Augustine roofing. However according to the workers they do not work for Augustine Roofing but for the one person with an Augustine roofing shirt on when he has a job for them. 2. The valley on the back right side of the roof is not correct. It was originally cut unevenly a few shingles in the correct straight line then one or two cut several inches back from the line then the next continuing in down the original line. Zig zagging at several spots. At the end of a very frustrating day, I was able to address my concern about the valley after finding the one person who did speak English. Unfortunately, to "fix" the zigzag valley. They cut all the rest of the shingles back to match those that were too short. Now the shingles are cut in such a way as to create a drip edge that rather then leading the water down the valley and into the gutter, directs it away from the valley. 3. There was indeed rotted wood in need of being replaced. However there were several areas when solid not rotten wood was being replaced. I need that addressed. Since no one spoke English, none of the workers could address that concern while it was happening. It appears they bought 100 feet of replacement wood as simply made a decision to use it all. Just sent now 6 weeks later - I am a bit dismayed that as of today, no one has addressed any of the issues with my roofing instillation. I expect a response with at date by which my issues will be addressed and corrected by the end of next week 12/7/2013. Our last contact occurred by phone when I was told you would be out to address these and any other concerns, and that I would be "happy with everything before you left". I was to call the following week with a good day to meet. I have called on three occasions to given days I would be home all day. On each occasion I was told someone would call me back. I have received no return call from any of these attempts to set up a meeting. I added the following concerns at that first attempt to set up a meeting, I have a leak, there is bent flashing, gutter down spout facing wrong direction, old broken down spout extenders attached to end of down spouts, instruction book needed for the fan installed, and lump at top of dormer. I will be awaiting your response. UPDATE: All my issues were finally resolved and they reduced the cost to compensate for my inconveniance and frustration with the process. Acknowledgement by the owner that his sales person was less then forthright about facts, and confirmation that they do indeed use sub-contracters. Still overall rating just average due to the experiance, but appreciate their acknowledgment and honesty.

Solid job but absent regular supervision

We are very pleased with the shingles we chose and have noticed they serve as added insulation. The workmen caused some minor damage that they replaced at their cost. These incidents arose because the supervisor was absent a few times as he must oversee multiple jobs and make sales calls. I suggested he use his phone to let the customers know when and why he is absent and find out if there are concerns. With our job, the owner himself stepped in and resolved everything to my satisfaction but left my wife nonplussed. So, the score reflects her sentiment moderated by my own general satisfaction; I found the owner and foreman as accommodating and aiming to please. Personally, I would use them again.

The experience with Augustine Roofing went flawlessly. Bill Augustine showed up on time and gave me a very fair estimate and honest consultation on the condition of my roof. The day the work was done there was a crew of seven employees who were courteous and professional and completed the roof in one day. The clean up was very thorough and virtually no debris was left behind as this is a big job. One week later due due to several rainy days in a row the gutters were installed - also an outstanding job. I did have some concerns about the flow of rain water however they were promptly addressed. My neighbor recommended this company and I would strongly recommend them also to anyone needing roof work done. Thank you , Bill, Tony and the crew that did such fine work. Ben Freud

Rick held my hand throughout the entire process. He patiently explained things to me, gave me helpful background information and justifications for all his recommendations. I appreciated that he made suggestions that would save me money. And although I still don't know much about roofing, I trust Augustine and feel they did a good job. (Of course, you can never really tell how good a roof is until years later. But I am hopeful all will be well.) The crew was very hard-working and professional. They came and finished up when they said they would. My neighbor told me he had never seen a roofer check for debris that had fallen into a neighbor's yard, which is exactly what Augustine did. Unfortunately we found a couple of nails in the yard after they left, but no harm done. After the job was finished they came out, without any problem, to address some last minute issues my husband raised.

We are extremely happy with how our new roof turned out. Augustine Roofing (Tony) was very helpful, responsive, and professional throughout the entire process. Their roofing staff produced an excellent product and were also very professional. They took care in laying out tarps in the yard to catch debris and thoroughly cleaned up after themselves. We would definitely recommend Augustine Roofing to our friends and family.

I actually found Augustine Roofing on Angies list! Rated as one of the top providers, I had them as well as three other top angie's vendors quote us for our new roof. The owner (Bill Augustine) came to our house and did the quote himself - something that I greatly appreciated. We instantly felt the most comfortable with him. His presentation was clear, succinct, and free of gimicks or sly tactics. A good roof, good product, isntalled well, by a trusted team. He took the time to show us the difference between the various levels of product he offered, and in the end we went with the certainteed pro product, which offered us a roof look with greater dimension and variation. Many neighbors have said that it makes our whole house look better -and really helps carry the theme of the style of our house. In fact, I picked the shingle color out of a brochure, but bill offered to come by and physically bring us a sample of the color. When he did so, from a far, I thought the color that I picked seemed 'okay.' Bill suggested a different color, to which I said it was difficult to tell which would be best just holding it up - without really having it on the roof to tell which was best. Well - easy peasy - he immediately got on the roof - nailed both to the roof so that we could sit with each a few days to determine which was best for our house. In the end, his color was definitely the best - and I am so glad we listened. It makes the whole house. He knows what he's doing! We really enjoyed our entire experience. The roof is beautiful, we've had no issues - and I have great peace of mind that it was done right. Likewise, it was a pleasure working with his office team - Tony was great to work with and quickly provided copies of their licenses and necessary contracts. It was also important to us that the same roofing team is used for every job - so that we know it's people who REALLY know what they're doing, and not just dayworkers half-hazardly nailing the product down. In the end, Augustine roofing wasn't the cheapest option - but it was the best. Beyond that, they worked with us on the price and even matched our lowest quote! As with so many things, you get what you pay for. For our money, using Augustine was a great investment. Good roof, good business. *Update: our next door neighbor JUST (last week) had Augustine install a roof for him as well. He's likewise very happy and pleased with the entire experience! Way to go Bill & team!

First Rick Newman did a great job with the initial estimate, didn't oversell and came accoss as very competant. Made me very comfortable with selecting Augustine! Quote was in line with other quotes. On the day the crew turned up on time, very polite and did their best to protect the landscaping. Had no issues at all with the installation and they did a great job with clean up...... not come accross a single nail. Roof looks great and had no issues - waited until we had a decent amount of rain before I provided the review. 100% recommend them!

Responded to request for estimate right away. Provided invaluable help and recommendations on leaf guards. Scheduled only two weeks out. Gutters installed day after new roof. Roofers cleaned up extremely well. Gutter installers didn't really clean up after themselves, but Project Manager inspected after they left and came back the next day and cleaned up anything they didn't. Very professional. Would use them again and recommend them highly.

Augustine Roofing did a fine job and the foreman who did the estimate was professional and honest. He identified the issue as two simple leaks and didn't attempt to "build the ticket" and sell me a new roof when I did not need one. Repairmen came as promised during the assigned window and completed the work quickly. Quality seems good as the ceilings no longer leak. The only issue I have although small is that they never left nor mailed me a receipt. I called their office twice asking for one and I never got it. The estimate acts as a defacto receipt and has the warranty on it, but it would have been nice to get the actual recepit once services have been completed.

Very cooperative, a few minor issues that were immediately addressed to our satisfaction. Calls were returned quickly and courtesley and workers were pleasant and answered any questions. Area was cleaned and returned to normal. We've had only one heavy rain since the repair but there were no leaks.

Really great. Augistine completed the roof as promised at the price quoted which was the lowest of several bidders.
