Great company to work with. We had our roof replaced and everything from the initial meeting to completion was very down-to-earth and pleasant. They were on time and they completed the job quickly and cleanly. Since the weather pushed the install date a few times (January) emails were quickly responded to and they picked up the phone promptly. However, there was a problem when one of the roofer punctured the heat pump line (due to and improper installation of the line) but the problem was resolved quickly, efficiently and professionally. I would definitely work with them again.

At first it went well. They answered the phone right away (Nov 16) and the sales guy came on time and gave a good quote (Nov 17). He said they could start right away. We sent back the confirmation a few hours later. Then it went south. It took two follow up calls (Nov 22) and emails to get the workers here. When the workers finally came (Nov 28), they left a mess of ugly dirt on the trim, and they never fixed the rotted fascia board that was in the estimate. They never told me they were leaving that day (I originally thought they had just gone to lunch.) We sent a rejection of the work via email and phone (Nov 28) and were told that same day the guys would come back asap. They didn't. There was rain, so they cancelled once. Then last Monday, Dec. 5, they were supposed to come. They didn't. Now it is Dec. 9, and I still haven't seen them. I called today and the supervisor Iani was surprised to hear they hadn't come. (I don't see how he was surprised since I haven't paid them yet). If you want a job done, and don't want to have to make multiple calls, go with someone else. I still have this nasty dirt on the trim and a rotted fascia board. Isn't this the reason we use Angie's list? To avoid this junk? Junk work. Junk service. Go elsewhere. PS Now I'm nervous about the "10 year warranty" they offer on the gutter guards. I am betting these guys will be out of business. Very sad.

Richard's team arrived promptly on the promised date of service. The team coordinated with us so that our cars were not trapped in the garage and then the team quickly got to work. Shingles and other worksite trash was picked up everyday before they departed for the day. Our skylights were tightly sealed and we are very pleased that there are no signs of leaking from the skylights or anywhere else! Fast, professional team. We highly recommend Augustine Roofing to anyone looking for quality work at a competitive price.
Description of Work: Richard and his team provided a prompt and accurate quote to replace our 20 year old roof. We were anxious to replace our roof since a few shingles were visibly loose. Once we accepted the quote (which was very competitve compared to quotes from 2 other firms) they were able to book service within 2 weeks. Product was delivered and expertly placed on the roof for work the next day...

Company was very responsive on bid and later email inquiries. Work was scheduled promptly given weather concerns for freezing weather, etc. Staff interactions were very professional and service oriented. Minor issue re some materials left behind. Promptly removed and issue resolved next day. Would recommend without hesitation.
Description of Work: We needed a new roof. Already had 2 layers of shingles which had to be removed by county code. Also needed some base layer plywood removed and installed. Suggestions were given on colors that might work with our brick facing. Colors were verified online with manufacturer and suggestions were confirmed.

It was a pleasure working with the team at Augustine Roofing. The house was leaking and in desperate need of a new roof. First, there was a delay in the scheduling due to the weather, so they came out right away and put a tarp over the roof. Second, work was done on time. Third, when I noticed a piece of sheathing that was not replaced in the attic, They promptly sent someone over to get it fixed without any hesitation or excuses. Collectively from my experience working with them, Augustine Roofing has proven to me that customer service and satisfaction is a higher priority to them than getting paid. I would definitely be working with them in future projects.

In a timely and professional manner, removed and replaced original one layer roof with new architectural shingles. Took down and put back satellite dish, replaced roof vent covers, installed roof ridge vents, removed all waste materials and conducted extensive cleaning to ensure nails were picked up. Part of our roof extends to our neighbors side yard. Augustine roofers conducted a check of the neighbors side yard to check and clean any debris that may have ended up in their yard. I checked with our neighbors and they were pleased and appreciative of the roofer's efforts. We got five (5) estimates from contractors and roofing companies. Augustine Roofing was the most cost effective and also offered the best time line. They had previously done roofing work in our neighborhood and were recommended by fellow neighbors. Overall, a cost efficient, professional and timely experience from dealing with the sales person, on site roofers to office personnel. We are very pleased with our new roof, workmanship, warranties and overall service. We would definitely recommend Augustine Roofing.

We chose Augustine Roofing to replace the roof on our townhouse after receiving estimates from four roofing companies. Augustine's estimator was the most professional of those that came to our house from these companies. He took the time to actually inspect the condition of the roof from on the roof and in the attic. He walked me through the options and pros and cons of replacing our roof now verses waiting a year--which had been our plan. On price, Augustine's estimate came in the lowest among the companies that we received quotes from. In addition to their low base price, they provided us a discount because our neighbor replaced their roof at the same time and honored their Angie's List coupon on top of that. The actual price came in at the quoted price. In full disclosure, after the work was done Augustine also offered to comp the one-sheet of plywood ($60) that was used to repair our roof if we posted a review to Angie's List. At no point did they ask for or imply that this review should be positive--they just incentivized us to post a review. The quality of the work seems good and all contracted work seems to have been performed, but as it's a 50-year roof, it's a bit early to really know. What I can say is that we've had rain and strong wind since the installation and I didn't notice any leaks or damage. I rated them slightly lower in punctuality and responsiveness for a few minor reasons. At several points during the process--signing the estimate, setting a work date, and paying the bill--they were slow in responding to phone calls to their office. It usually took a few calls over a couple of days to hear back. It also took them slightly longer to install the roof than they estimated--two days instead of one. None of these were a major issue. Of course, this slow responsiveness also means they weren't at all pushy. Overall, I would definitely recommend Augustine. They offer the same product as their competitors at a much lower cost point. While they may have been slightly less responsive than we expected, they weren't at all pushy, were professional every time we interacted with them, and seem to have done a good job installing our new roof.

A BAD EXPERIENCE! November 2016-- I decided to have my roof re-done by Augustine Roofing, LLC of Sterling, VA. Out of seven estimates that I got, I chose Augustine because their estimate was very good, their ratings were very high on Angie’s List and Yelp, the two references I spoke with were very positive about the quality of their workmanship and the information and philosophy about their business on their website seemed sound. However, my actual experience with Augustine was not good. I should have acknowledged the Pre-job concerns described below and chosen a different company because the job turned out to be a nightmare. Here are the problems I had to deal with. Many of the critical “Post-Job” issues described below would not have been discovered by the average homeowner unless they got up on the roof and did a post-job inspection. Fortunately, I did. (It should be noted that Augustine Roofing did return a few days later, after my complaining and before it was about to rain, to correct some of the problems, and they finally returned almost three weeks after the job to correct the remaining problems that could be fixed. The damage they did to my porch ceiling is not repairable so they did provide some compensation for that and they provided compensation for the damaged screens and my labor to clean up the yard.) But why did all this happen in the first place!!?? PRE-JOB CONCERNS: 1. Communications to me by the office manager and owner were vague and intermittent right from the start. I should have heeded this indicator. 2. Their contract was vague and incomplete and it was unclear just what they would do for the roofing job. I wrote a supplement to make sure everything would be spelled out and done to specifications. 3. No information or explanation was provided to me about when the roofing supply truck would show up or what they would do. The huge truck just appeared on Friday afternoon fully loaded with supplies for three roofing jobs and posed the issue of cracking the driveway with such a heavy load. Fortunately, it did not-- but it was my gamble and my risk. PROBLEMS DURING JOB: 4. On the day of the roofing job, the crew foreman (who seemed to be the only one who spoke English) showed up early in the morning to start the job, but then disappeared for most of the rest of the day. No one else on the roofing crew seemed to speak or understand English or know the details of what was needed for the job, so I had no one to discuss concerns about the job with as the job proceeded. Furthermore, the crew foreman was not there for most of the second day either (Saturday and Sunday). 5. I made a phone call to the office on Saturday to make sure the crew knew about the special order flashing material and other specifications that were to be followed, but no one was in the office to answer the phone. 6. It became clear to me by the second day that there had not been good communication between the office and the roofing crew and its foreman as to what and how the roofing job needed to be done. This was clear when the roofer who was assigned to do the flashing work asked me what color flashing I wanted—“black or brown”, when the office had special ordered a tan color flashing material to be used. And then, even with the tan flashing material being found by the roofer, all they had was black caulking. The crew seemed uninformed and unprepared. 7. My house was not adequately protected from falling old shingles and other debris as they were torn off. As a result: a. The custom-made screen door on the sliding glass patio door was punctured and needs to be repaired. b. One screen on one of my custom-made fiberglass windows was crushed and needs to be replaced by special order. c. Painted trim on the house was marred in places and will need to be touched up. POST-JOB ISSUES: 8. Roofing nails and other debris, along with food waste, spent food containers and cigarette butts were left in my yard. I found four long roofing nails in the road and driveway where we needed to drive the next morning. As a result, I spent two hours cleaning up all the debris early in the morning before any cars drove out of the garage. (The job was “finished up” late on Sunday as it turned dark. The crew rushed and used cell phone flashlights to try to “clean up”. NO ONE RETURNED MONDAY MORNING TO ENSURE THE JOB SITE WAS CLEANED THOROUGHLY.) 9. Contrary to the Contract, the flashing going up the brick wall at the joint of the addition and main house was not replaced or re-caulked. This was miscommunication because the crew thought I wanted to leave the old flashing in place when what I wanted was the new flashing to be done the same way as the old flashing. Regardless, the old flashing (at the peak of the roof) was pulled away to tuck the new shingles under leaving a large gap which would have been a major leakage point had I not discovered it. 10. In general, the flashing work was unskillful and sloppy and relies on huge amounts of caulking. 11. Finishing nails to hold down the apron flashing under my two dormer windows were rust-prone steel and were not caulked. These would have created rust stains and would have been leakage points. 12. Similarly, finishing nails to hold down the apron flashing along the entire front of the house were rust-prone steel and were not caulked. 13. Again, the finishing nails to hold down the flashing at the porch and house seam were rust-prone steel and were not caulked. More rust stains and more leakage points. 14. The four nails to hold the last shingle on the peak of the porch roof were exposed and were not caulked. These too would have leaked. 15. Contrary to the agreement, the base of the gas furnace flue was not resealed with roofing caulk. I had to do this. 16. The roofing crew did not seem to know they needed to scrape down and paint the gas furnace flue pipe as required in the contract, as no paint was supplied to do so until I told them about it. 17. A gutter spike was removed from the upper front gutter and was not replaced. 18. A gutter spike was removed from the upper rear gutter and was not replaced. 19. There are three new shingles on the roof with chips broken out of them that I just recently noticed and there is one misplaced nail in a shingle that is exposed to rain that I had to caulk over. 20. MOST EGREGIOUS -- Contrary to the clear instructions in the roofing contract, and contrary to what I repetitively told the office manager and the crew foreman, nails that were too long were used on the porch roof. These penetrated the roof decking through to the exposed paneled ceiling underneath, and are now visible from the inside in 172 locations. Our beautiful wood paneled ceiling was splintered, cracked and chipped in numerous places by the protruding nails. YET IT WAS CLEARLY WRITTEN IN THE CONTRACT TO USE SHORT NAILS TO PREVENT THIS-- AND I DISCUSSED THIS WITH THE OFFICE MANAGER BEFOREHAND AND WITH THE CREW FOREMAN THE DAY OF THE JOB—and it still happened primarily because the foreman was not there to check on things! 21. Finally, an exclamation point on the poor communications within Augustine Roofing company-- once the roof was done and fixes were made, I received an Invoice from the financial person of the company asking for payment of the original amount of the proposal. Upon pointing out to him that screens were damaged, time was expended cleaning up my yard and damage was done to the porch ceiling—and that compensation was warranted to offset these problems as I had discussed with the office manager, he stated he had no idea that had happened. To his credit, he did accept the final number I had asked for. In sum, I don’t know what has happened to Augustine Roofing that caused them to perform so poorly on a routine roofing job like mine, compared to prior reviews they have gotten. However, as the job got underway, it was clear to me that there had been little communication between the office personnel (who had the contract agreement and all the specifications) and the actual roofing crew doing the job, about the details of what needed to be done. It also became clear that no one was really overseeing how the job was performed as the job progressed. The foreman was hardly ever on site and the owner, Bill Augustine, never made an appearance! So goes Augustine Roofing-- a bad experience.

Missed the first install date due to delay on another job, missed the next install date due to weather, third time was the charm:). As far as communication, this was great at first but after the install, I had a couple of questions that took a bit to get answered. But overall- this was not a bad experience, in fact it wasn't as bad as I expected. I had never had a roof replaced. They were recommended by a neighbor that was very happy with them as well.

Our roof was in need of replacement and after getting several estimates, we decided to use Augustine Roofing as they seemed the most sincere, trustworthy and knowledgeable. We first met with Iani for the estimate and he explained the damage and gave us options for materials that would be used for the replacement. There was no pressure to make any decisions on the spot as we had encountered with a couple other companies. Later that evening he sent over a detailed proposal showing the cost and options. We reviewed the proposal, made our choices, signed the proposal and sent it back. We were then contacted a few days later by Tony with an installation date. On the install date, the crew arrived ontime and worked all day removing the old roof and replacing with the new roof. They didn't quite finish before dark so they cleaned up and were back the next morning to complete the roof and clean up again, leaving our property spotless. Everyone from Augustine Roofing was very professional and the roof looks great and the leaks are gone! All of this, plus they do not collect any payment (no deposit or anything) until the roof was completed to our satisfaction - that was very refreshing to know a company still exists and stands behind their work 100%. Overall an outstanding experience and we would highly recommend Augustine Roofing to anyone needing a roof replacement.

Overall, the product and price are good. I had originally called Augustine based on recommendation from a coworker to repair a leak in the roof, but after more information was gathered, it seemed that an roof replacement would be the smarter move. My one issue was communication. There was a miscommunication in the details of how a ridge vent would or would not complement an existing attic fan. I found it surprising that the foreman never knocked on my door to introduce himself or to tell me anything about how the job was progressing; I was home the entire time the work was being performed. Overall the roof looks great

I wanted to gather quotes for replacing or refitting the gutters on our two story townhouse. I reached out to about three different companies, making sure to go only with those who say they do gutters since it is a small job. Only Augustine Roofing even responded to my inquiry! They set up a time right away to come out and contacted me day of when weather might delay them a bit. Even though they thought they might be delayed they showed up 5min early! Mr. Perez did a full inspection and broke out for me what he found and what he would recommend. He is sending over an estimate that breaks out different options so we can pick what fits our budget best. I know I haven't had the actual work done yet (I will add to the review when that was done) but as a homeowner who is often brushed off because of the size of the job I really appreciated the respect and professionalism from this company!

I called Augustine Roofing to get an estimate on a new roof for my home. Ben came promptly at the apointment time, and provided a detailed estimate with no pressure. He answered all my questions and was very friendly. I chose Augustine, and they were able to get me on the schedule, and the shingle delivery went smoothly. On the day of the roof install the crew showed up on time and got right to work. They did an excellent job, the new roof looks great, and they put a lot of effort into keeping my yard clean by throwing all the old roof right into a truck, and then they ensured no nails were left behind. I would not hesitate to use them again.

Augustine Roofing did a great job. They came out and took pictures of all the problems so we could see what they were fixing. They gave us a fair estimate and we had them come out and do the work about a week later. They called to tell us when they would be coming and arrived on time and did all the work in one day. The shingles were a great match and our fireplace is no longer leaking which was the main problem. They were very professional every time we talked or interacted with them.
Description of Work: Our house is 10 years old and our builder never flashed our stone fireplace so after several years the caulk he used had started cracking and letting water into our attic and eventually down into our bedroom. In addition to adding flashing to our fireplace we also needed a few diverters to push water into our gutters and fixed a few shingles on our porch roof that had started to come loose.

These guys were very honest. I spoke with Tony on the phone a couple of times regarding the leak. He said there was a likelihood that it may not be the roof itself may not be the cause of the leak, but instead could be something with a window or siding. He sent out Paco to take a look at it for me. Paco confirmed that the roof was in good shape, but showed me a picture of where there was a gap in the siding and missing caulk around the window. They advised that some caulk around those spots may help, but also recommended to have a window or siding company come out and take a look. I appreciated their honesty and not trying to talk me into an unnecessary roof repair.
Description of Work: I called for an assessment of a potential roof leak.
