As my long description of the service details will confirm: It was a GREAT customer experience!
Description of Work: I had Absolute Electric come out and install 3 cieling fans and fancy switchs/dimmers, 3 security lights on the back of my house, some electrical outlet work in my basement and surge surpressor at the electrical box. Actually, the surge surpressor was their idea, after they saw the number of computers with the inexpensive surge protection equipment that I had running in my basement. The technician saw that I took that kind of thing seriously, and bought the idea up with me. We discussed the pros/cons and I decided to go ahead and have that added to the job. Well, they did such a great job installing all of the fans, lights and additional electrical work that my wife and I decided to have them come out and install an additional fan over our breakfast table along with a new switch/dimmer, and an additional security light on the side of the house. That's where things got a bit interesting. Absolute came out and did the installation of the light without a problem, and then the ceiling fan (BTW, I supplied all of the fans, switches, and lights and Absolute just did the installations). They left and everything appeared to work perfectly. That is until my 8 year old came home! My son tried the dimmer on the last fan, which my wife, the Electrician and I had negelected to try, since all of the others in the house (same switch) worked fine. The switch made a ticking sound and then burned out. I called the owner of Absolute Electric about the problem the next day, and he sent a crew out to look at it. They spent about 4 hourse trying to diagnose a problem that they thought would take a few minutes, including trying 2 new switches, which I had picked up, just incase it was the switch. The electrician could not figure out the problem, and said that he would talk to the owner and come back. I didn't get charged a penny for the 4 hours they spent, trying to figure this out. The owner came on Monday, after getting married on Saturday, along with the crew that he sent out on Friday to resolve the problem. He looked at the fan box and then looked at the bulbs. Within 3 minutes, he figured out that the bulbs that came with the fan could not go on a dimmer switch, had us swap out the bulbs and everything was fine. Then, the surprise came for me as a customer when I expected to be charged for at least some of the additional time it took to resolve the issue with the fan (remember, I supplied the fan, and not Absolute Electic) since it was not Absolute's fault. The owner looked at me and said, that HE would reimburse me for the switch that burned out. That surprised me, since I wasn't sure that it was their fault. But the fact that he was willing to take ownership of the problem, was a PLUS for his company, in my book. I declined the reimbursement and just asked that they adjust the viewing angle of one of the sensor on my light, and that we would call it EVEN. My wife and I are now considering asking them to come back and do another small job for us after our spring vacation. A Great Job, from a great small business.
