These folks gave me a good estimate and prompt service date. They arrived and clearly knew what they were doing. They removed the old chandelier and carefully installed the crystal one. They provided cleaning tips and guidance on what to do to keep it looking sharp and operable. Cleanup was perfect and timely.

We couldn't be more pleased with the service provided by Shauwn and Absolute Electric. He did the job right and at a very reasonable price. He gave us suggestions/recommendations that we did not even think of. Would not hesitate to use them again for any electrical needs in the future!

First rate all the way. What I did not know is that there might be a need for a dedicated circuit for an over-the-range microwave. Sean Collins (the owner) explained this in great detail to me as well as giving me another option of hooking it up using the gas range circuit. We went with choice #2 (b/c #1 would have been > $1000) and it was done quickly and the man Joe who did the work was awesome. Highly recommend these guys.

.First rate all the way. Quality craftsmen, and lots on integrity
Description of Work: The team at Absolute Electric first worked on a small job at our office condo, and everthing went very well. Then I brought them into my home to check out a dead water heater. They very quickly found a failed breaker and promptly fixed it. While here they also fixed a broken shut off switch for our boiler. All charges were very reasonable. Now we have hired them to replace our main circuit panel and hook up our generator

Service was quick, through, and had the outcome we wanted.
Description of Work: Cole, service manager at Absolute Electric, responded to a call for evaluation of non-functioning electircal outlets within 24 hours of my call. He quickly assessed and repaired the problem. I appreciate that he scheduled the appointment at a time that did not conflict with going to the polls to vote!

Absolute Electric is a 'class act', from top to bottom. They did an outstanding job. The owner, Shauwn, came out and did the detailed estimate himself, after he understood what our desires and needs were. He gave us a detailed written cost breakdown, and gave us some useful suggestions for how we could minimize cost. Shauwn told us that 'Rob' would be doing and supervising the work with another employee. We agreed on the cost and the schedule, and Rob and Kyle arrived exactly on schedule on Oct 30th. Rob even called ahead to make sure were expecting them. They did exactly the work that Shauwn had said they would. At the end of day one they cleaned up completely reaffirmed the next days schedule. They fixed our problem with the basement light for free. On day #2, Rob again called us ahead of time to confirm we were expecting them, and Rob and Mike showed up bright and early as agreed. They worked diligently to complete the agreed upon work, and they did an excellent job, cleaning up nicely after themselves. The kit for the walkway lights came with two extra halogen mini-spots to illuminate the front door, and Rob and Mike wired them into the rest of the lights and installed them at no charge. As twilight approaches on this Halloween evening, we can once again see in the dark corner of our basement, we can see to do laundry in our brightly-lit laundry room, the little trick-or-treaters can come up our front walkway and be bathed in light completely, and the side of the house and the front door of our house are well lit. We could not be happier. This was a case of getting good $value for what we spent and also meeting some true professionals. Do not fool around with your lighting and electrical needs. Absolute Electric are consumate pros who take pride in their work, communicate effectively and are 100% customer-focused and results- oriented. I'll be calling them again for other work, and will not consider using anyone else. Another great Angie's List find.
Description of Work: Day1, Oct 19th 1. Visit and understand the work we wanted done inside the house, in the basement, in the kitchen, and upstairs, and consult with us on the best way to do the work with good quality components at a reasonable cost. Prepare detailed, written cost breakdown and work with us to schedule the work. I asked Absolute Electric to come out because they had a large number of very positive reviews, and I know that does not happen by accident. Day 2, Oct 30th 2. Repair and replace 2 lamp, 4-foot fixture in laundry room, (original to the house in 1988, builder-grade, does not work anymore) 3. Repair pull chain light in basement, and remove broken-off, rusted bulb remnant in socket. 4. Install under counter lights in kitchen, 1@26", 2@9", and 1@17.5", shining down on existing granite work surfaces, with individual high and low settings on each light, with minimal drywall impact. Day 3, Oct 31st 5. Install 8 low-voltage path lights with 2 low-voltage floodlights along stone walkway to front door from driveway, wired to an existing switch plug on the front porch, with dedicated, discretely-located transformer. Required digging trenches for the lights and running power cord underground to get to the other side of the walkway, which is 4-foot wide flagstone set over an 8-inconcrete base reinforced with rebar. 6. Install 2-lamp exterior flood light wired to existing switch plus inside house.

I lost power in my kitchen. As I was on my way out of town, it was an urgent matter because I didn't want to leave my tenant without the ability to use the kitchen. Darlene went the extra mile to get someone out the same day. Rob was professional, capable, and friendly and went the extra mile to take a look at an unrelated issue in my bathroom and provide an estimate on the spot. Overall, I was very pleased and impressed.

Love this company. Very responsive, excellent work, and most importantly, don't nickel and dime you. Shauwn came over to my house and was on time and we went through all of the required work in detail. I booked the service right there and Shauwn was able to tell me who would be doing the work and on what dates. The electricians showed up on time every day, cleaned up at the end of each day and were highly professional and knowledgeable. They also troubleshot some additional electrical issues for free. All work was completed ahead of schedule and meticulously done.

The electrician kept the appointment I made on 10/29/2012 even though Hurricane Sandy was about to hit. When he called, I expected him to tell me that he was going to have to cancel but instead he was letting me know that he would be there right on time. Installed everything to our satisfaction in about 1.5 hours. Would love to have them come back out and tackle some of the other projects I have.

They were responsive to requests. They came out quickly to do an estimate for free. They gave me a written estimate they stuck to. We actually got a 10 % discount because we found them through Angie's list. When the work was being done, the guy who was doing it was courteous and quiet and explained to me what was going on. He improved on the initial estimate in terms of how he could do it. He managed to do the work better than we initially thought it would be. There was an extra item once he showed up, he did the work beyond the initial estimate and he said that he would do that quickly and effectively.

They actually gave me a better solution that did not involve them. They said they could go ahead and install it. However, why not go with a theater company which turned out to be absolutely wonderful.

The service was quoted fairly and commensurate with other estimtes I'd received. The electrician showed up on time. However, what was remarkable is that he found a way to perform the work that would cost less in materials and actually was done an hour sooner than we'd planned. The finished product in no way compromised safety or quality - I double checked. So, I got to reap the savings from that reduction in time and materials. What a great company to call when you want work done fairly, on-time and within budget.
Description of Work: Absolute Electric installed a seperate circuit in the main circuit switch box for our microwave and fixed a light switch both in the kitchen. they also priced out replacing a GFI outlet and installing a new heated exhaust fan assembly in our master bathroom. That heated fan assembly also needed a separate circuit that ran clear across the attic to the main box.

The job was estimated and completed very professionally. We couldn't have been more pleased. When we initially called for an estimate they took the time to explain not only what the problem may have been (there were two possibilities)... but also explained how they were also may be dependent on the power company. They gave me estimates up front about the best and worse case scenarios (it could have been a lot worse financially). Explaining to me that they may not be able to correct without the power company's help, they initially sent someone out with the equipment to fix the problem, they inspected it, and confirmed the actual issue. Ended up they did need to coordinate with the power company. They called the power company while on sight and told us the appointment date. When the date came, they met the power company there, coordinated with them and corrected all of the issues. Overall, the price came in towards the lower estimate. Everything was handled perfectly by them. I would definitely recommend them to you for their services.
Description of Work: The mounting board for the power meter box was rotted out and the meter had pulled away the house. In addition, the piping to the ground had broken off at the top because of the weight. They needed to coordinate with the power company to turn off the power, replace the mounting board, re-mount the box, fix the pipe, and turn the power back on.

If only service provider was as awesome as Absolute Electric, life would be easier. This is the second time I've used them for a project and both times the entire experience was flawless. I called and left a message asking to set up an appointment, and I was called promptly the next day to set it up. I received an estimate for the project over the phone, and an appointment was set up for the following business day. Tim arrived right when he said he would, and immediately started the process. He hung the new chandelier perfectly, and took away the old ceiling fan as well. He also gave me some ideas for future electrical projects we may want to consider, but wasn't pushy about it all (unlike others I've dealt with). Everyone I've come in contact with at this company has been totally friendly and professional. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone else.

One of the nice things is that they will tell you on the call, for example, that if you have them install a GFI socket and they supply it from the truck it cost $31, however they encourage you to have your materials ready and that saves lots of money. A very nice positive and I believe honest way to conduct business. I supplied all of the materials and everything went without a hitch.
Description of Work: A very nice gentleman answered the phone, listened to what work I needed completed and arranged a Saturday appointment (which was great because I called them on Thursday...very quick service) The technician called before arriving and was on time. We are extremely pleased that we chose Absolute Electric. We had two attic fans wired up, three exterior lights installed, several switches, several receptacles and 4 recessed lights wired. The technician was very nice and did amazing and very neat work. We truly feel that we got a very good value for the money and we will use them again.

This was an all-day job. Technician arrived on time. Reviewed the job,but then had to leave to pick up the necessary parts. Returned about 90 minutes later with the parts. Technician was very professional, worked efficiently, answered all of questions, and communicated very clearly. He worked with me to help decide which six of my 22 household electrical circuits I should have tied into the manual transfer switch. He performed a very clean install and cleaned up all debris. After installing the outside receptacle, he showed me how to connect the supplied electrical cable to my generator and switch my home power over to generator using the manual transfer switch. Overall, I am satisfied with the technical part of this job. Part of the cost was for the required County permits. Absolute Electric obtained the required permit before starting the work, but the technician did not seem to leave the permit with me. Without my knowledge, the County Inspector showed up the next day to perform the inspection. We were not home as we did not know the inspector was schedule to come. The inspector left a notice that the inspection "failed" because we did not have the permit displayed and he could not gain access to the premises. I called Absolute Electric the next day and explained what happened including the fact I did not have the permit. Evidently the technician claimed he left the permit on a table in my basement. I have only two tables in my basement on which the permit could be left, and I could not find the permit. Absolute Electric rescheduled the County Inspector for the following week on the day of my choosing. They also told me they would deliver the permit the next day, but they did not. I had to call again the following week to ask them to deliver the permit before the inspection. They delivered the permit on the day before the scheduled inspection. The inspection went smoothly and the inspector was happy with the work. Overall I am happy with the electrical work performed, but was disappointed at the whole permit and inspection issue which simply shouldn't have happened. The manual transfer switch works correctly and I can power critical circuits in my house with a 5,500 watt (8,250 watt starting) generator. For the six circuits, I chose to power 1) my gas furnace & hot water heater; 2) Basement lighting and sockets including my Verizon FiOS tv/internet/telephone; 3 & 4) two kitchen circuits including refrigerator and microwave; 5) one main-floor circuit powering the wall sockets in our family room; and 6) one second-floor circuit powering wall sockets in three of our four bedrooms.
Description of Work: Install a six-circuit manual transfer switch and outside socket for 5,500 watt portable generator. Also installed a four socket outlet tied into an existing circuit in my basement.

Overall an excellent experience. After finding Absolute Electric (AE) on Angie's I was contacted the next day by the office and an appointment for an estimate was established. Shauwn came out at the agreed upon time and gave me an estimate as well as an additional estimate for a surge arrestor that I had requested. It should be known that Shauwn kindly made a caveat on the estimate for the arrestor that he was not trying to upsell me (as he's had a bad experience in the past with a customer accusing him of doing so). After hiring him we arranged a time for his technician to come out to do the work and was given a 7-9 AM time window. Perhaps the only frustrating thing about this experience was that I got a call from AE approx 15 minutes prior to the arrival time window saying that the technician was running late b/c he had to pick up a part from Dominion electric (apparently something fairly specific that wasn't available from the typical supplier that they use). I told them this was fine but became a little frustrated when the 15-30 min delayed arrival time soon passed with the technician ultimately ending up arriving 15-30 minutes after the time window (i.e. 9:15-30). I ended up calling AE a couple of times to ensure the technician was on his way and they attempted to help ensure his ETA. Either way, once the technician arrived he began the work which was completed without incident. One caveat that kinda stuck with me was that he came in the house to install the surge arrestor and tracied all the money from his boots into the house. Maybe consider boot covers in the future? Probably the most important thing that needs to be highlighted about AE for other Angie's Listers has to do with the final charges. As I've learned through this experience, estimates given from contractors need to be the same or less than those given by your insurance company's adjustor. If estimates are higher, the insurance company won't pay you the difference. AE's estimate was several hundred dollars more than my insurance company's estimate. This was an oversight on my part and part of my ignorance (never having done this before), but when I realized it I called AE and spoke to Shauwn. After some consideration he agreed to lower the cost to come closer to my insurance company's estimate. I could have taken a pretty big hit in terms of my reimbursement from my insurance company if Shauwn was unwilling to adjust his bill (which would definitely have been his right given that I agreed to the estimate). Instead I did take a financial hit but it ended up being much smaller than it could have been. Shauwn explained to me that Angie's List has been a huge part of his company and that a good AL review is quire valuable to him (which is why I've spent all this time writing now). As such, I do highly recommend AE for any electrical work primarily b/c of their helpfulness and overall integrity. It's unusual in this area and in this day and age to find a company that is willing to work with you like this and AE went out of their way to help me out. Kudos keep up the good work.

He arrived on time and asked me for an old sheet to cover the bed since the fan was installed in the bedroom over the bed. He cleaned up afterwards and shook the sheet outside. He gave me instructions on how to reverse the fan and how the remote worked. He was able to move an outlet slightly up so the full outlet cover could go on. I have been very happy with the work.
Description of Work: I bought the ceiling fan and had Absolute Electric install it. He installed the fan, mounted the remote control holder on the wall and instructed me in the use of the fan and lights. He also moved an outlet slightly to fit above the backsplash in the bathroom.

The experience was very positive from start to finish. My initial contact was with Darlene when I called to get pricing information. She was very helpful but when I indicated the different services I was calling about, she suggested that I speak with Cole. Cole called me back and went over in detail the pricing and answered my numerous questions. When I realized I needed to have HOA approval, I called back after the company's listed hours and Sean answered the phone and provided the information I needed to complete my request for approval. I scheduled the work to be performed and the two assigned technicians, Rob and Andrew, arrived as scheduled. They took a tour of the house and listened to the work to be completed. They were very receptive even when the scope of job changed slightly due to my other half changing his mind on the amount of lighting necessary for the family room. Cole had indicated that my list of to do's would probably take one and a half days with two people. His estimate turned out to be accurate. Rob and Andrew worked all day and Rob came back out a few days later to complete the work. They did a good job moving the furniture around, protecting my furnishings and trying to minimize the mess that was involved with installing the recessed lighting and fans. They cleaned up the mess after the work was performed and before departing. The recessed lights look great. Rob suggested that we change the light types for the lighting we wanted in the garage and I think his suggestion was spot on. The new lights look great and the fans were installed with no wobbles! Rob performed the total home inspection and pointed out several items that we will most likely update/correct in the near future. Throughout the job, Rob mentioned things that we should consider updating/changing based on current code to improve the safety of our home, including a recommendation to upgrade our control panel; however, it was not done with a "hard sell" attitude in any way. I appreciated his suggestions. I highly recommend Absolute Electric and will call on them for our future electrical work.
Description of Work: We purchased from Absolute and had the following items installed: - Attic fan - 8 6" standard recessed lights - 5 6" mirrored recessed lights - Recessed stove receptacle We had the following additional work performed: - Install 4 ceiling fan boxes (no existing boxes in ceiling, 3 had attic space above) - Hang 3 ceiling fans - 36 point electrical inspection

The technician called while he was on his way letting me know when he expected to arrive. Showed up on time and installed the fixtures in less than an hour. He cleaned up after himself and recycled my old lights for me. This is my third time using Absolute and their always great!
