Absolute Electric LLC

Working with Absolute Electric has been easy and a very positive experience from the first telephone contact through the waiting period for the delivery of the generator to installation, successful inspection, and final completion. The work was completed on 2/1/13. There was a wait for delivery of the generator but once it came in, Absolute Electric moved quickly and efficiently. We are very pleased with the work, the professionalism of their workmen, their communication, quality of work, and consideration for us as homeowners while they were engaging in such an extensive process. We really had absolutely no complaints. Even the County Inspector told us that it was a very good job. They answered questions very readily, interacted with ease, and walked us through the numerous steps of the installation, testing procedures, and two County inspections (gas line and final inspection on the whole job). This process involved coordination among electricians, gas line installer, the Gas Company, NoVec (electric company), and Fairfax County. We were truly impressed with how easy Absolute Electric made the whole thing for us. Rob, his assistants, the gas line installer hired by Absolute Electric, staff covering the telephone -- virtually everyone involved -- was easy to work with and inspired our confidence.

The company is family owned and everyone I dealt with was very pleasant. The biggest problem was scheduling. I gather that the company is not very large so that if an emergency comes up they are forced to pull someone from a job to handle it. That wouldn't be so bad if we were told in advance so that we wouldn't be expecting someone to show up who didn't show. One time Sean, the owner, called and explained why he had to delay our job for a week. But after that we rarely received any notice of a change in scheduling. Other than that, they did a great job.

Setting up the appointment was easy. The technician arrived on time. The only issue we had was when the tech removed one of the ceiling fixtures from the box he said the globe was already broken. We took his word for it and didn't challenge him on it but both my wife and I thought we heard him slide it out of the box and then heard it hit the tile floor and break; we then heard the tech make some sort of exclamation immediaty after of "dissatisfaction". We didn't hear his exclamation clearly enough to say exactly what words he used and we also did not actually see what happned. After writing my Angie's List review explaining the situation with the globe, the service manager(Cole) from Absolute called me the very next day. He said he immediatley spoke with the technician about what happened. According to Cole, the tech explained to him the globe was already cracked when he took it out of the box and that he didn't use any foul language. I really appreciated the call from Cole and have no reason not to beleive him or the tech. I would not hold anythign against either the tech or Absolute Electric if I needed them to do electrical work in the future.

Positives: Punctual for the estimate, the work, and the rework after the county inspection failed. Negatives. If you are going to tell me you can't give me the Angie's List discount because the work is a little more complex, and you 'charge a little more' than other folks, but think you do a better job, than you need to do the work correctly the first time. If the electrician says the work is an easy job than it should not fail inspection. If it fails then you fail, correct? After it fails, you should call me the next morning and apologize. I should not have to call you several days later. Pull your phone records to see if someone called me the next day. And when the electrician arrives to fix what was not done correctly the first time, shouldn't he apologize? It is surely not appropriate for him to walk in and show me the failing inspection notes and literally ask me what the inspector meant. If I knew the technicalities of why it failed, I'd probably be talented enough to do the job myself. Wouldn't it make more sense for the electrician to call the inspector BEFORE he arrives to get any questions answered, instead of asking me to explain the report? I stood right in front of the electrician when he called the office for a Wednesday reinspection, yet as I sit home today (Wed), I find out the reinspection was called in for Friday. Here is another suggestion- send the customer an e-mail confirming the inspection date, to prevent any miscommunication. So after the electrician leaves for the second time, I go to the panel box and see a screw missing. Certainly not a big deal, but just tell me 'sorry' I dropped the screw and can't find it. I was prepared to stay home from work for the initial job and for the initial inspection, but now I've had the great pleasure of calling my boss to tell them, in addition to the first two days, I need to work from home three more days for the rework, the miscued inspection, and the actual second inspection. Sure hope it passes inspection this week. Absolute Electric? Absolutely not! Oh, and I had to hear the story about how the only person to give you an 'F' was crazy, so I assume my experience will be turned into a 'crazy person' story. But unlike that customer, I won't be changing my grade. Let's all hope my house does not burn down when I need to use my generator transfer switch. You would think my review would be done by now... How could anything else go wrong? I went to cook a roast and some potatoes this evening. My lower oven worked fine but the upper oven did not work. What a coincidence. I opened up the panel box (was quick because there were only 5 screws versus 6) and I see the wire to the upper oven just sitting against the breaker. The breaker right above it was added to the generator switch so do you think by coincidence the oven wire just popped out, or again, was it poor workmanship. I was able to manage fixing that myself, so maybe I should send you a bill for $130.00 for a minimum of one hour of work. Shauwn, as you sat at my table for the estimate, and told me that middle-easterners and asians complain the most (one of which must have been due to your other 'F' grade), I am now suggesting you add white middle-aged males to your list of complainers.

The people at Absolute are extremely professional. From the initial phone call to the actual service being completed. I highly recommend this company and will be using them any other time I need electircal work done.

Short caused massive electrical failure through out house. Called firm with best Angie's list score--94 straight As! Had a very pleasant conversation with the intelligent woman who answered the phone. She quoted me a good price. Since she was not an electrician, she would have the office manager, who was an electrician, call me before sending some one out to do the work. He would return to the office before lunch. No call-back before lunch and no call-back after lunch. The next morning I called the second name on my list and talked to the owner immediately.

Absolute Electric responded very quickly (on a holiday eve) and sent an experienced technician to perform an in-depth troubleshooting analysis. A repair was completed within a very reasonable time and the bill was accordingly appropriate. I would highly recommend Absolute Electric.

From the first phone call to Absolute Electric to the completion of the work I was very pleased. The person on the phone was very knowledgeable and understood all that I needed to have done. Rob arrived on time and began work on my task list. He took the time to explain everything to me while working in a professional and neat manner. Finally after 4 other electrical companies our outside outlet doesn't trip anymore. Rob also came back the following week to complete additional electrical work we needed done and again was excellent. I've tried other local electricians in the past and haven't been as pleased with the work performed by Rob of Absolute Electric. There is no question we will be using Absolute Electric again and will refer our friends to them as well. The pricing was reasonable and regardless you can't put a price on ensuring your safety. After using 4 other electrical companies and wasn't pleased with their work trying to find another electrical company was a daunting task until I decided to use Angie's List. We are very thankful for Angie's List which made it very easy to select a reputable company who turned out to be the best we've ever used.

Rob and Kyle arrived early, were extremely neat and courteous. Rob made a special effort to ensure the ceiling fans were installed perfectly including addressing some challenges requiring him to take off the fan and put it back up. The charges were exactly as quoted by the dispatcher who, herself, was friendly and helpful. I would not hesitate to call this company again, and it is clearly a well run company with very competent, skilled and happy employees.

Absolute Electric arrived on time, completed work quickly and well, left for the next job. Very professional and courteous.

I had a new breaker panel installed and a new Generac 20KW generator installed. The breaker panel was straight forward and professionally done. There were a few minor issues when it was being inspected that Absolute Electric resolved. The Generator was a tough and involved job. It involved routing the natural gas from one side of my house around the back to the other side of the house. This had to be routed through my yard which has an irrigation system. A trench had to be dug by hand between these points. This was slow going as there were many obstructions such as the irrigation system and many roots from trees. Several of the irrigation pipes were damaged during the digging but Absolute Electric took care of repairing each and every one of them to my satisfaction. Additionally, one rather significant tree root was severed for a 40 foot oak tree. A young apprentice got a little too overzealous and cut it out. Absolute Electric brought in an arborist who concluded that the tree would eventually die and that is should come down. This was unfortunate, but Absolute Electric took care of bringing in an excellent tree service who did remove it. We did have some additional challenges with the plumber who was subcontracted for the gas work. There was a leak in a gas hose that needed to be repaired and the plumber failed to install an isolation valve. Both items that Absolute Electrics Quality Control caught and corrected. I have also learned that the plumber who was working the job is no longer with that subcontractor. This was a challenging job that I know cost Absolute Electric more than they planned on, but they persevered, worked with my schedule and followed through with the installation. I would recommend them to anyone. Shawn Collins', the owner, is most concerned with customer satisfaction. He will make sure he get the job done no matter what. He certainly proved that to me. This was the "Murphy's Law" of all jobs. But it is very important to know that it did not phase the technicians at Absolute Electric. They professional through every step. They were very apologetic that it was taking as long as it did, but in the end, it all worked out well. I will used Shawn and his company for any electrical jobs that I have in the future.

I called on 24th December; My Christmas lights had gone out and all external outlets and a bathroom outlet had no pwer inspite of flipping all circuit breakers. The lady who answered the phone was very helpful and told me to try all things like breakers and a GFCI switch. DFCI switch was something totally new to me. Then she transferred to technical manager. he suggested GFCI and other things. Then I got on the internet and found out GFCI switch and finally found it and flipped it. Everything works now ! I am pleased because they did not try to make a quick buck (as some shady businesses do). They were very helpful in trying to fix my issue even though they had never met me or know me. Thank You ... and MERRY CHRISTMAS !

Absolute had one of their electricians scheduled for the oven outlet job on Dec. 6. Joe arrived promptly and completed the work quickly and efficiently. On Dec. 21 I had a problem with a circuit breaker serving the bathrooms in my house. I called Absolute and their dispatcher got me in touch with Cole, one of their electricians. Cole was on the job but took the time to walk me through several troubleshooting steps. Cole said he wanted to save me the cost of a service call if it was something I could handle. Bottom line, we finally discovered the issue after Cole did some research on the applicable building codes and I was able to remedy the problem without a service call. Kudos to Absolute and their team of electricians. Their service is exceptional.

Joe arrived on time. He called to give me notice he would arrive in 20 minutes. I will call him for any other problems, and recommend him to our friends

It went great, very well done and totally professional. Electrical work can be a high risk situation for homeowners and one has to be sure that the staff electrician knows their trade and follow the requirements of the building codes. Absolute did exactly that and for a fair price. What more could one ask for.

Everything went great and I will use Absolute again! They arrived slightly later then expected so I ended up with 3 electricians to perform the job. The team in the basement worked around many duct, joist and other issues to get the recessed lights installed and they look amazing. The person who did the ceiling fan took the time to figure out it was possible to install without having to cut any holes in the drywall except where the fan was being mounted (installed without wall switch, remote only). The whole home surge protector was installed in the least intrusive position possible inside of the house.

i called an got an appointment right away. Rob came out and meet with me at my house. He was knowledgeable and very professional. He explained everything to me and answered all the questions I had. I would defintley use them in the future.

I was able to schedule a service visit right away, they showed up during the window and called again to confirm. Rob was very competent and was able to fix everything I threw at him. He worked so quickly we were able to fix more than I had intended. We made the jump from a family friend electrician to a commercial one, and I'm happy for the change. I'll be calling them again next time.

I call to set up an appointment for an electoral box to be installed in my ceiling so i could put a dinning room light in , there was no light there so the electrician would have to tap into a light switch and run wire thru the wall .The lady i talked to from the office was so polite and helpful that she gave me an estimate over the phone and said if it was ok that a guy would be over today and install the box. The electrician ran a little late only 30 min but called 2 time to insure me that he would be there . He did a great job ,answered all of my questions and was finished in 1 1/2 hours .

I called Absolute Electric and asked for their first available opening. I was treated with kindness and patience. They willingly accommodated my request. I am very pleased with their work and will definitely recommend to others. A top notch company that is bound for continued success!!!!

Overall, this experience went well. I was pleased with the promptness of them responding to my request for an estimte. I called to inquire about the cost and work involved to install a dedicated line for a new electric cooktop. I'm still deciding on the model of cooktop I want, but will consider hiring them in the future.

The dispatcher scheduled a two hour window for an electrician to arrive - much better than the four hour windows I see from many other companies. The electrician called to let me know he was running a little early, and would be at my house about 30 minutes before the start of the scheduled window, which was great. He came in and I explained the problem and what I had already done to troubleshoot the problem before calling in a professional. He checked the switches in both bedrooms, and found a bad switch in one. In the other room, he found a wire had come loose in an outlet near the switch. He went ahead and replaced the switches in both rooms as they were both old, and he had plenty of time left on the 1 hour minimum service call. With the Angies List discount of 10%, I had both rooms fixed in just under an hour for just $124. It was much better than I had expected, and I couldn't be happier.
