Super quality and value! Chris in Abbey Design's Leesburg office helped us put together a superior design that greatly enhanced our kitchen. The workmanship was simply first-rate; the team made sure that every tile was measured, cut, and fitted perfectly. We will definitely go back to this company for future projects, and yes, I would highly recommend it to friends and neighbors.

We worked with Jimmy at Abbey Design to have our basement finished. We were very happy with the workers and the finished product. Everyone was professional, experienced and attentive to how we wanted the work to be completed. In addition, Jimmy and the staff were very helpful in assisting us with decisions that we needed help with, when we were uncertain ourselves. We would strongly recommend Abbey Design Center to anyone having work done in their home.

Thank you for taking the time to review us on Angie's List. We hope you are enjoying your basement to the fullest! Thank you for being an Abbey customer.
Do check in with emails and phone calls to make sure you remember what you contracted for. We signed contract and then it was 6 weeks before job could be started because of waiting for stuff to come in. It took about 6 weeks for project to be completed once started. A long process, I would have hired Abbey sooner if I had known that is how the process worked. I did need to call a couple of times to make sure someone was coming to work that day. Things happen, but needed heads up sooner. Definitely ask for Alex to do your work, he is the best!
Description of Work: Rebuilt master bathroom with new floor, cabinets, shower, tub, lights and new paint. Went to Abbey Design where Jimmy worked with us on what we needed and our budget. Jimmy helped with the selection of tile cabinet and even paint color. They also enlarged one of the bedroom closets. Justin helped with design and the crew of Alex and Gustavio did a wonderful job putting our bathroom/closet/bedroom together along with the tile and hardwood company. We also replaced our carpet in the master bedroom , upstairs hallway and back staircase with hardwood. Jimmy was very quick in responding to emails or phone calls we had about project and stopped by to check on the progress.

I cannot speak highly enough of the Abbey crew. From start to finish, they were professional, friendly, and provided immaculate service. Kass was prompt to come to my home for a free estimate, and I asked him his opinion on the type and color of wood. I ended up taking his advise and couldn't be happier. The crew was wonderful, and they finished the job 1/2 a day early. I had to reschedule the floors three times due to the weather, and that was never an issue for them. We have already had them back to take more measurements so they can replace other flooring. I highly recommend Abbey and I won't go anywhere else for home remodeling.

We knew them locally, and they did a really good job for us. We were really happy. They did a great job, they did a fantastic job. I was overall very impressed. They were there on time, they were very meticulous with the work they were doing, and when they left, they cleaned everything up, they didn't leave a mess. They just did a fantastic job. We got a few quotes and quite frankly I had a couple of carpeting quotes that were charging what they were charging in total, so their price was really good.
Description of Work: We used Abbey Carpet. They did some bathroom work, they have redone the flooring in our kitchen and foyer, and they also recarpeted everything.

Sherry Wohn helped me design my new kitchen and pick out cabinets and countertops. She came over to the house to measure, supervise and look at the results. She is a lovely and easy person to deal with and I enjoyed working with her. The process began on the day we decided on. First the old cabinets and old flooring were removed, followed by the installation of new wooden flooring by installers who were very efficient and good. The supervisor, Majeed, was very good and pleasant to work with. He came back to the house that night when I called to ask why the sump pump alarm in the basement below the new floor had gone off and the sump pump started filling with water. He went down to look and found that putting in the new floor had dislodged a plug in the ceiling of the basement. So that saved me from having my basement flooded. Then the new plumbing, electrical elements and cabinets were installed and modified by master craftsman Andres, who did a meticulous job and came out again and again to get things just right. He put in recessed lighting and hung all the overhead hanging lights I had chosen. He also gave me good suggestions when I asked for advice. He also installed new plumbing under the sink and came back a few times to check that it wasn't leaking. Our white Cambria quartz countertops were installed by the stone and marble company Abbey uses. After coming out to measure and then ordering the new countertops, they came back to install them. They came back again to smooth out a nick and some marking with their special machine. An Abbey tiling expert installed a glass tiled backsplash, with tiles I found, purchased and sent away for because Abbey couldn't help me with that. My design and their tiler produced a very good-looking backsplash. The process was fast, and each phase continued smoothly to the next without any waiting in between. The main part of the work was completed in three weeks, so we were able to start using our new kitchen then. I've heard other people's horror stories about how long the process usually takes and how some kitchens are never even finished, so we were happily surprised by the speed and efficiency of the Abbey Designs

We went with Abbey Design because they're a one-stop shop. They also don't use subcontractors, which, I think, helps them keep their prices reasonable and provide consistent quality of workmanship. They have a large showroom with everything from flooring to drawer pulls, which makes the design process more efficient. As busy professionals with a small child, it was nice to be able to pick out everything, with Jimmy's help, in about an hour and call it a day. It took about seven weeks for the flooring, granite counter top, faucets, etc., to arrive at their warehouse, and the bathroom remodel itself took two work weeks. Their workers are among the friendliest I've seen, and they clean up after themselves at the end of each day. Overall, we're very pleased.

Abbey Design worked with us to design our new kitchen and was responsive to our requests and changes. Installation went very smoothly, and proceeded on the schedule that was provided. Installation was well organized. For example, old cabinets weren't torn out until new cabinets had arrived, etc. We had a few minor changes and questions throughout, and Jimmy was very responsive. The workers were respectful of our home. Only major complaint is that I felt our choices on materials was quite limited. All things considered, I would recommend Abbey Design and we plan to use them again for future projects.

After our basement flood I had a very tight timeline in order to do a restoration. Sharing this information with Chris Clark the manager at the Leesburg store he was able to set realistic goals to deliver a solid product - on time - on budget - no hassles. Rare in today's lack of and quot;client servicesand quot;. Chris even took the time to educate me in a very informative manner (as condescending seems to be the norm today from retailers) about how carpet is not only made but grade, wear, form over function rooms etc... I walked away understanding the whole process - and Abbey followed through. Nick from their warehouse gave me a call to say they received the order and are processing it. They set an estimate day of arrival and followed through again to let me know that the product had arrived and we were on schedule for installation. Their team arrived ready to work - and did not stop until 8 hours later! They worked fluidly - each knowing their area of expertise - answered any questions I had concerning the installation. The job site was clean when they had completed their work. Without hesitation I would recommend Abbey Carpet. In the whole restoration of my basement of many trades group coming in and out they where the only ones I did not have to micro manage. Moreover, they delivered what they promised, in the allotted time for the said amount - plus a rebate! Chris Clark knows how to manage expectations. Abbey Carpet might be slightly higher in cost but it is well WORTH THE $$$. A bad install or product at this cost range can have repercussions for years.
Description of Work: Had a basement flood needed to replace all padding and carpet. Contacted three carpet retailers Abbey stood out from the beginning.

The entire process with Abbey Design Center (from initial contact, selection of materials, demo, construction and final walk-thru) went very well. We initially worked Julie Maoury at the design center and was extremely pleased that she remained our primary contact person throughout the entire process. It was great to be able to only have to work through one person for all stages of the project. Not only did Julie keep us up to speed on the progress of the project, she came out several times to review the work, as well as update us on next steps and time frames for completion. Abbey was very willing to work with us on a few changes that we had during the installation process as well as allow us some flexibility on the schedule. For example, I wanted to paint the bathroom prior to all the new fixtures and flooring going in. Abbey was able to adjust the schedule to finish the demo on a Thursday and then start the install on the following Tuesday, allowing me time to paint the ceiling and walls without worrying about getting paint on all the new materials. Would definitely use again.

Abbey Carpet Design was one of the best contractor's I've ever had the pleasure of working with. The design lead was Zee Pahlevan and she was amazing. WOW!! Our new kitchen is stunning! Everything went great with Abbey Design. Sherry Wohn, our designer, was fabulous. Very easy to communicate with, and always wanting to make sure we were happy along the way. The installer Relu, was also excellent. A stickler for perfection and quality! He was always prompt, friendly, extremely tidy, and very knowledgable. He easily tackled anything unusual that came along. Our finished product is just beautiful - more so than we expected.

Working with Abbey Design Center was a great experience! Jimmy Nazem and his team, Justin, Ki Han and Eric. are on track to finish in the timeframe they promised. My daughter is getting married on 4/26 and we will have a bunch of people here for a party after. Abbey Design Center has been great about expediting the job so that we have time to get settled in before guests arrive. The details of customizing could have taken forever but we were guided through easily and with good advice. Justin did a great job of drawing up computerized models so we could see the scale and proportion before we finalized our plan. I had some ideas of how I wanted it to look and Jimmy worked with me to make that happen. Jimmy has always replied to any inquiries immediately and was able to get me information that I needed or answer questions I had. He was always checking in to make sure things were moving along as scheduled and let me know when each phase would be completed. Ki and Eric have been a pleasure to have in my home- their work is meticulous. They are considerate, punctual and professional. The entire process has been a breeze- of course I will be happy to have a sink again and will never take it for granted! I have been posting photos on Facebook of the process every day and many who comment are impressed with the quality work and quick progress. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone looking to make improvements.

2 April 2014 Memorandum for the Management of the Abbey Design Center and others to whom it may concern Subject: Personal Commendation for a Job WELL DONE In October, My wife and I contracted with Abbey for the upgrade and modernization of two bathrooms, a hall bath and our master bath. While our home, built in 1983, is in excellent condition, we felt we needed modernization in those two areas. Beginning with the initial planning sessions the process went very smoothly. Our Project Manager, Jimmy Nazem, developed the plans for the new rooms and carried them out efficiently. He and Justin Goodman created innovative designs including storage that greatly facilitated the maximum use of space and created one of the few bathrooms equipped with television. Their attention to detail was instrumental later in overcoming production schedule problems caused by need to replace cabinets damaged in shipment. Jimmy coordinated and scheduled the assignments and tasking of a truly professional team of workmen. It is rare today to find enough excellent craftsmen to accomplish work that needs to be done. It is pleasure to find a production team entirely composed of conscientious, enthusiastic, well-trained and skilled craftsmen. Abbey has them and uses them well. There were no unsolved problems. Jimmy was on top of problem areas before we knew they existed. I must specifically mention the most capable team of Jeovanny Molina and Christian Guardado. These two professionals accomplished tasks in every area of production including plumbing, electrical and the inevitable problems of converting a room built thirty years ago to meet the standards of the twenty-first century. They overcame every challenge they faced. It was a pleasure to work with Jimmy and the team he provided to solve our modernization challenges. I know Abbey and he are proud of all of them. There is no higher praise I can give than to extend to Jimmy and his team a warm and sincere WELL DONE. I would be pleased to work with Abbey and Jimmy’s team again in the future. Very truly yours, William B. Hamilton Great Falls, Virginia

We recently decided to finish our basement. We had talked about it over the years but had always put it off due to the cost and disruption; this time, however, we were determined. After soliciting a number of bids from various vendors, we decided on Abbey Design. A few of the key reasons that we selected Abbey included: 1) an organized and methodical approach to defining, designing and planning the project; 2) a packaged or tiered process for selecting options; 3) a capable staff that would own the project from start to finish (vs. subcontracting everything); and 4) a competitive bid. It was also beneficial to have a showroom or a ?one stop shop? to visualize our selections in a single location. During design, we worked with Jimmy Nazem and Justin Goodman. Both worked with us, listening to our ideas and advising us based on their experience. They were patient and provided just the right amount of guidance. As the project began, we made it clear to Jimmy that we wanted to move quickly and would support Abbey in meeting our aggressive timelines. Jimmy developed a plan that would minimize our timelines but not compromise the quality of the work. The project kicked off with a flurry of activity. After the first week we were framed, wiring had been completed and plumbing started. The project continued at a similar pace for another five weeks through completion. All materials and workmanship were of high quality. Throughout the project, Jimmy was in constant contact with us. When not onsite, he would call to provide a status and let us know what was upcoming. There was never a point in the project where we wondered where a crew was or what was going on. Abbey Design Center is a well-kept secret when it comes to basements. We could not be more positive on our experience. From bid through project completion, our basement build went smoother than we had imagined. We love our new basement and will definitely look to Abbey on any future remodeling projects. Thanks Jimmy, Justin and the Abbey staff!

Thank you for your review and kind comments We are glad that we met your expectations in every way and you and your guests are now enjoying a whole new level of your home!
We appreciated the professionalism of Abbey and specifically Jimmy N. from start to finish. As a former contractor and nit-picker myself, present through all stages, it was not an easy task for them to please me. However, they rose to the occasion and fulfilled every promise they made, and excelled in quality and workmanship. Their flooring person did an absolute perfect job making our floors look like a basketball court. The cabinet worker also went to great lengths to make sure things were done correctly, even to the point of calling back the granite installers to make a small issue "right". Everything was done in 10 days, which was perfect for my family. We feel they provided a good bang for the buck.
Description of Work: We had the entire first floor (approx 800 sq ft) tore out, new hardwood laid (sanded and finished in place), and all new kitchen cabinets and appliances (appliances not included in cost shown).

UPDATE: I want to provide an update to my original review on this provider. We all stumble now and again, but its not the stumble that matters, its how gracefully you recover. After my review, I got an immediate call from Ali, the Vice-President of Abbey. Naturally he apologized, but was far more focused on how to make it right. Ali came to the house to inspect the work and discuss the experience. He explained some of the circumstances behind the experience, outlined what Abbey was doing to ensure it didn't happen again, and scheduled with us to send out his guys to make things right, which they definitely did. Ali is a stand up guy and he renewed our confidence in Abbey. I am sticking with a and quot;Band quot; due to the first experience, however I can confidently say that I believe Ali is going to do everything in his power to make sure no one else has that same negative experience. ORIGINAL: I really agonized over leaving this review, because in the end the floors look very nice. However, I was really unhappy with the overall experience. I purchased from the Leesburg store for this purchase. We purchased this tile and installation at Abbey because we assumed that being a flooring company, they would have the best of the best installers. We could have purchased almost the same tile and installation from Home Depot for far less, but figured it was worth it to have it done right. Bad assumption. The installers showed up on day 1 of a 3 day job, they were on time, and that was the only thing positive I can say. There were 2 men and a girl. One gentlemen spoke English very well, but never did because he wasn't in charge. The other gentlemen barely spoke English and he was the boss, so communicating with him was painful. The girl spoke no English at all. They did not have the proper tools they needed to remove the old floor, so I ended up having to lend them a floor scraper and a heat gun. The also didn't have any screws to screw down the new subfloor, so during their 3 hour lunch, they had to run to Home Depot and get those. All of the old flooring and subfloor were thrown out the back door into a pile, nails up. I ended up turning that all over that evening so that my dogs wouldn't puncture their feet on the nails. Day 2 they arrived, again on time. The put down the tile and as I was watching, the boss tried to explain to me that I could go to Home Depot and pick up new transitions for the floor at the doorways and install those myself. I explained to him that those were supposed to be part of the installation and even showed them to him on his work order. He explained they didn't have those and said, rather aggravated, that he supposed they would have to make another trip to Home Depot and skip lunch. I also asked about the trash again and told them they could put whatever would fit into a Bagster soft dumpster I had on the property, but explained it could not go over the top because they wouldn't haul it away like that. They of course overloaded it and then left for lunch, so I had to reload it so the company would pick it up. When they returned from lunch, they had no transitions with them. Day 3, they arrived a little late. Grouting went well, but they still had no transitions and he suggested that they reuse the old ones. I reminded him that I had paid for new ones, it was on the bill of materials, and I expected them to install new ones. At the end of the day, I refused to sign the completion form because I still had no transitions and they were no going to take the trash with them, they were going to leave it in a pile on my back patio. They left. I took pictures and drove to Abbey to talk to the sales rep Chris. While I was there they arrived with the transitions and installed them, and they took most of the trash with them. However, they absolutely trashed my patio by cleaning all of their equipment right on the patio. There were also numerous pieces of chewing gum that the girl had spit out into the snow on the patio, which of course melted and left chewing gum stuck to my pavers, along with grout, piles of tile clippings and cuttings, etc. Not only was there grout all over the patio, but also the side of my house and my patio furniture. I never received a follow up call from Abbey to make sure the work was complete or that I was happy, or that my concerns had even been addressed. That was pretty disappointing. The only reason they don't get an F is because in the end, the floors came out nice. But the experience sucked, especially since we paid a premium for it.
Description of Work: Removed old kitchen and mudroom vinyl flooring and installed new ceramic tile.

I would not select this company for any sort of service and could not recommend this company to anyone. Total lack of professionlism.
Description of Work: My wife and I were looking for ideas for our bathroom remodeling project. We were accompanied by a neighbor (interior design professional) who wanted to do the same sort of project in her home. My wife and my neighbor were treated rudely and professionalism was nonexistent. Our designer friend asked a question of one of the sales people and was referred to another person in the store. My wife turned around in time to see the other sales person shaking his head "NO" and stated he had other people to help. Nice try, there was one couple walking out the front door, and us. Wouldn't go back to this place for anything especially as there are so many other companies in this area to selec fromt! Very bad experience!

It didn't go well. They gave us an initial estimate to do our kitchen for about $25,000. When we went in to finalize the deal, the number was $55,000 and they said that the woman that we had been dealing with had left the country on an emergency. About 2 weeks later, we went in to Lowe's looking at kitchen stuff because the price was just over the top, and we saw the woman from Abbey working at the kitchen center in Lowe's. Not only did they mislead us in terms of the estimate, they plainly lied to us. We didn't have our kitchen done with them obviously. We did spend $500 in order for them to come out and have a look and do the estimate. It cost us $500 to get nothing and we wasted a lot of our time. Their punctuality in coming out and giving us the estimate was okay. It took a few weeks for us to arrange the appointment.

Dear [member name removed], We are very sorry to read your review on our company. We are sorry you were told something about the terminated employee that simply wasn’t true. Unfortunately, the employee's employment status was not communicated clearly to all employees. An initial estimate was given for a basic kitchen tear down and replace. The type of kitchen design and materials selected by you and the designer in the design process were priced out only after the new designer confirmed your measurements and the desired design and materials. The large disparity was a result of the pricier design choices made in the design process, e.g. cabinets to ceiling, glass doors, faux door end panels, moldings, etc. that would not be part of a basic kitchen. We realize in the transition of changing designers the communication failed that you were seeking a kitchen within the lower budget. We would have been glad to scale back your design to match your budget. We are sorry we did not meet your expectations.

carpet installation, ceramic tile, hardwood floor

We met with the salesman, Solomon Raffiqi, and told him that we wanted to replace our kitchen tile and family room carpet with hardwood. We didn't have a sample of our existing hardwood in the foyer, but took a picture of it with us. Solomon had a fairly good idea of what would best match our existing floor and showed us some samples, with information on the different companies. He came to our home the following week with floor samples and measured the space. We picked a sample which seemed very close to the existing floor. He called that evening with a quote for the work and we agreed to have them do the work. We went to in to the Center and signed the contract, putting half of the cost down. Within a few weeks, Abbey Design Center called to schedule the installation. The installers arrived on time the first day and put up plastic sheeting around the kitchen, covering the countertops and island, and moved the kitchen furniture out. They spent most of the first day removing the existing kitchen tile. The second day they laid the kitchen floor and moved the family room furniture into the kitchen. The last day they removed the family room carpet and laid the family room floor. They cleaned up at the end of each day and worked non-stop. There was an issue around the fireplace hearth, with the concrete surrounding the hearth crumbling, and the installers made an extensive repair to this area in order to lay the floor. The floors turned out beautifully, and match the existing floor very well. We couldn't be happier with the job. Solomon also sent me a thank you note with information on how to apply for a rebate from the flooring company.

I chose not to use them. The quote was for about $7,000. They came out to give me the estimate. They gave me an initial quote. There was no problem with that. They came out to do the measurement and they were very professional. Later, when I called them and told them that I was looking at doing something different, they did not respond to my counter-offer. They did not respond to my said e-mail. I would consider them again in the future.
Description of Work: Abbey Floor & Design Center gave me an estimate, 2-3 months ago. The estimate was for tiles and installation of tiles.
