Shreve-McGonegal

It was a fine experience. The person who worked did exactly what I told him to do.

Shreve must be a big operation as my call was forwarded twice each time I called. A bit confusing since the man who provided the estimate was very knowledgeable while the person scheduling the service calls had more limited knowledge of estimated costs. The plumber arrived promptly and the work was done well. The only downside (and a minor one) was the initial estimate was too low probably due to speaking with one person for an estimate and a different person to schedule the repair. I probably left out a few details when scheduling so the plumber who arrived did not have a clear picture of the work he was to perform.

Gettting hold of Shreve-McGonegal initially was easy. They answered the phone right away. I had lined up another plumber but he kept putting me off due to other work, so I contacted Shreve per the many good reviews I'd read here on Angie's List. The work had to be done by 9 am on 10/30 because our house was being sold and the items to be addressed were part of the home inspection contingency. I was given a window of 12-5 pm for the plumber to show up, but then had to leave around 4 o'clock for an appointment. The plumber called me around 3:30 to say he was on the way. Fortunately, my wife was still home when he got there. I came home later to find the work had indeed been performed, and by all accounts he did an excellent job. I was, however, stunned to find that the bill was $530! I had little choice, since I was in a bind and the work HAD to be done right away. I didn't really have time to shop around because I was moving out of the house at the same time and my free time was almost nonexistent. I wish I had at least been told the price before work commenced. Nonetheless, the work was done well, the plumber obviously cleaned up afterwards because there was no sign of any debris, etc. And, most importantly, they were available right away. In the future, I will certainly consider them for other work, but will comparison shop next time around.

They were very, very good. They were on time and punctual. The price was very reasonable in comparison with everyone I tried. They were excellent. I have used them again.

Everything went great. I had tried to fix the problem myself, but the toilet continued to leak. I called Shreve-McGonegal in the morning and they sent someone(Ty) over that afternoon. Ty explained why my previous attempt failed to fix the toilet failed and showed me what the problem was. He was extremely professional and finished the job in a hour and a half. He even took his shoes off when he came in the house.

They were very responsive. I thought they were reasonably priced, but I don't remember how much I spent. I chose them because it was a matter of scheduling. They were punctual and professional.

A bath tube back up...called them thursday and they are there saturday on time. After 30 minutes they cleared a tough clog and left the tub cleaner than they found it.....I've used them before when we had a water heater leak and another company wanted to replace the heater tank, but the Shreve Tech found a pipe above it that was leaking and fixed the problem quickly and cheaply. Thank you Shreve for being so honest! You the comapny that I will always call first! Your tech as friendly and real pros!

I asked for an estimate on remodeling the bathroom. Estimator came next day but have not received an estimate to date.

We had a few small plumbing repairs that needed to be taken care of. The gentlemen from Shreve were on time and polite. They explained everything thoroughly.

They came out and checked the leak under the kitchen sink. They found a leak from the drain pipe and the faucet. We had this faucet replaced recently and we will not replace it again, as recommended by them. The service man was unable to locate an o-ring for the faucet to stop the leak. They charged us for $300 for not fixing the problem all the way, they even told us this at the time of the repair. They wanted us to replace the faucet because they did not have the necessary o-ring that day. I was not pleased.

The plumber arrived right on time (the earliest appointment, 7:30 am) and performed the repair quickly and explained how a freezeless faucet works, including that I still need to take some action before the first winter freeze.

They gave me a time estimate of 12-5pm, and Hai came at 4pm. He immediately checked my bathroom, washer/dryer, and HVAC area which are all near the buckling floor and told me none of them should be the source, and discussed with me what I need to do to look at it further(i.e. get my hardwood floors professionally removed so we can see under them and not ruin them). He was very thorough in reviewing all possible sources, and discussing the issue with me. He also was very courteous. He then fixed the running toilet(so easy for him, I could tell)and then he was on his way, leaving me with a 1-year guarantee on the work. 1 hour total. I was very please with the professionalism and service!

I thought the toliet was clogged, but when he arrived he advised me the toliet needed to be replaced because he was clogged with lime. I asked for them to just snake it first. He agreed to do so, but explained it would cost and he really felt like it would still need to be replaced. He was right, I ended up replacing the toliet and I should have listened to save some money. I was very impressed with their response time. When I first called they advised they could not get to me the same day, but agreed to put me on a cancellation list. She explained she did not think it would be available, but ended up calling and a plumber arrived within the hour.

Cam out the dday after we called - on time - did work as specified.

I discovered the leak on a Friday afternoon, so I was very concerned about getting the problem taken care of without having to pay weekend/overtime rates for a plumber. I called Shreve-McGonegal around 2pm and they said someone would be out before the afternoon was over. Gary arrived less than two hours later. Although he was not able to make the needed repair, he had to work hard to get the refrigerator away from the wall and remove the panel on the back to be able to see where the leak was coming from. He then had to move a pair of unwieldy cabinets to uncover the access panel and shut the valve on the water line. He cleaned up the crud one finds behind a 15-year old refrigerator and carefully moved everything back into place.

He installed in a place which did not have the plumbing or the electricity. He finished the work in a day. He was very efficient. First, they sent an estimator out who thoroughly understood the situation and gave us the estimate. The worker came out on schedule. He did the work all by himself and did a very good job. He was very meticulous and explained things very well. He also cleaned up once the job was done. I was very satisfied with his work.

Excellent experience! The technician was very knowledgeable, professional, courteous, and prompt. Quick assessment of the problem and repaired quickly at a reasonable price. We will definitely call on this company again!

Perfect. Technician ordered toilets for us, arrived promptly, and did a picture perfect intallation, including grout around the bottom of each toilet.

Top quality job. Area was well protected and cleaned up after job done. Technician worked very fast. He didn't waste time thinking about what to do next. A young man who was very confident of his abilities and seemed as experienced as an old pro.

Very well. Faucet included hose attachment that had broken off. We consulted with repairman about pro's and con's of replacing just the broken part or the whole faucet. He provided good, clear, honest options. We opted for the replacement and he performed the work quickly and cleanly. All in all, very professional.
