In one word - Horrible. I called last week and was told they could make Tuesday afternoon work. They gave me a window of 12-5pm which should've been my first red flag. I asked if they could be a bit more specific and they told me the plumber would call the day of and give me a smaller window. I waited and waited and heard nothing, so around 2pm I gave them a call. I was told that I was still on the schedule on the plumber would be there sometime before 5pm - I said that's fine as long as he can be there and have enough time to do the job. I left work early to be home by 4pm only to still have no plumber. At 5pm, I got a call from them telling me the plumber was delayed but would it be ok if he could arrive in the next hour or 90 minutes. At this point I just wanted the job done so I agreed. I was told I'd even receive a $50 discount for my hassle. The plumber eventually showed up at 7pm (later than I was told). He looked at the job and seemed annoyed - he told me he was told it was a simply swapping out of a water line and not a new install. He said he would have to call his supervisor. He came back 10 minutes later and told me the job was too big to do tonight and they would have to reschedule. I could only laugh at the complete incompetence of this company.

Great. All the techs have been professional, nice, thorough, detail-oriented, and generally awesome and helpful. A storm was on its way when one of the plumbers was fixing my kitchen sink. I walked in to see how the plumber was doing, and he was finishing up a great job and comforting my terrified dog who likes to his next to the sink when storms are coming. Great service from a plumber who could not have been nicer to me and my dog - all at a very reasonable price!

I wasn't pleased at all. They ended up coming back 3 or 4 times ripping out the tile. It still wasn't what we wanted. I would never ever again in my life use them. It started on March 2010 and it took them until July. I was standing in the kitchen and he messed up the kitchen so bad he poured the water into the kitchen. All of a sudden, water is pouring through my kitchen sink where the bathroom was up above. We had to shut it off. When we had to put the tile back, they didn't align in properly. Three times it had to be ripped out.

Perfect, everything Shreve does is done correctly and when they say they will do it. I have worked with this company for years and I do not have any complaints.

Tsegaye came to fix the pinhole leak but also suggested adding the new main water shut off valve. The current valve is in a different room and it made sense to move the valve to the point where the water enters the house. Tsegaye is always very professional, thorough and knowledgeable. We have used Shreve Mcgonegal many times and their work is always excellent. They are not the cheapest but they deliver good work. They are always punctual and hard working. We have previously had Mr Hai and William working on replacing a sewer pipe, which involved a lot of drywall work. Both were excellent.

Ask for Mr. Hai - He is the BEST! We've used him several times over the years. He is courteous, friendly, works quickly and is upfront about things -- and knows his stuff. He answers all of my questions. Since he is so popular and good, you may have to wait a few days until he is available. The range of time given is about 5 hours - but on the day of the appointment, you can call and get a better idea of the time plumber will show up. Mr. Hai called before he showed up. He removed his shoes when entering the home, would close the door when he would go out to his truck, used his own tarp, used all his own supplies -- just the kind of person you would be comfortable to have in your home. We had three items to repair: Outside Faucet - We had neglected to remove hose during winter - so faucet broke and would leak into the house if we turned on the hose. Mr. Hai fixed this. Toilet - mr. Hai had to repaired the work of another independent plumber, Lonnie Warren, that had done very sloppy and lazy work (but Mr. Warren had moved out of the area, so we had no recourse). The outside bolts of the toilet had been snapped off instead of cut, so Mr. Hai had to saw all of them off to even remove the toilet. The toilet had been leaking rust at the bottom -- which turns out that Mr. Warren had installed only one wax ring -- and it was too small -- so every time we flushed, we had water coming out. Also, Mr. Warren had chipped the toilet during installation (it was brand new). Fortunately, it's cosmetic, and at the back.. Mr. Hai fixed everything, and neatly caulked everything. Sink: Mr. Hai used a large electric 'snake' to clear the drain. He even tightened the faucet for me.

I needed someone to come out same day after discovering water spots on my ceiling after running the dishwasher. Tsegaye was there within 3 hours of my call. He quickly confirmed the issue (cracked pipe), looked up on the rate sheet and gave me the fixed price to do the job. The full job took about an hour and half. He made sure we tested the new pipe by building up some water pressure (by filling the sink, and then emptying it). Worked great. No more leaks. I'm grateful he was able to come so quickly. He worked fast, efficiently, cleaned up after, and charged a fair price. You can't ask for much more. If I need a plumber again, I'll be using them.

Our hot water was running luke warm so it was obvious something was wrong w/ the hot water heater. I called at 5pm on a Tuesday evening right before closing. They said our problem didn't sound like an emergency so they scheduled an appointment for first thing the following morning. The technician called when he was on his way, arrived promptly when expected and was professional and forthcoming. Technician quickly determined the problem and fixed it just as fast. He didn't mind me hovering and asking questions and he didn't mind explaining the problem in a way I would understand. I felt the labor and parts to be priced fairly although I don't have an experience to compare it to. This is the second time we've used them for plumbing work (previously had to have pipes re-insulated bc of a rodent problem) and I would definitely recommend them. They are trustworthy, competent, professional and friendly. Planning to call them again soon to have some additional plumbing work done in our bathrooms (old toilets).

The plumber was punctual, professional and highly competent. He also went above and beyond to apply caulking to some tiles that had come loose in the bath. He answered questions and gave useful advice. He wore foot coverings to protect the floors and cleaned up meticulously in the areas where he had performed work.

I called and was told someone could come by the following day. I casually mentioned that I was working at home, and if they had any cancellations, I'd be grateful if they could send someone sooner. 10 mins later William called to say he was on his way. He was great. Quick and efficient. Cost seemed fair. Really appreciate the speed with which they handled my call.

I have used them before for plumbing and hurricane type damage plumbing issues as well. I do recommend them. I can't say price wise they are any good but I just happen to like the repairman and I do request him. We had a drip at the valve on the toilet. When we go away for the holiday and stuff we turn it off and it wasn't something I could fix.

The time line was just as promised, about 6 weeks and the installation was cheaper than at first quoted. The project was very expensive though. The person that came out to measure the cabinet was very nice, he even brought a sample of the new finish just to make sure it was correct. The installers were great.

Great job. Very responsive and professional. All plumbers were very backed up due to the bad weather. These guys gave same-day emergency service. I would recommend them and use them again.

We chose this company because of their 5 year warranty on labor. Considering the large budget, the appliances were modest and the finishing touches were poor. The subcontractor that cut the Granite had to come twice because the stone was cut incorrectly. There were delays due to problems with the electric wiring and poor installation of the backsplash. A couple of weeks after the job was completed, the kitchen sink leaked because it was not installed properly. The stove exhaust had to be replaced several times because the model chosen did not work with the stove layout. The refrigerator was installed in a very small space that did not provide adequate ventilation. We had to replace it because overheating caused the motor to burn out. Of course the opening now only allows for a small model that is deeper than the previous counter depth. We had to replace the dishwasher and faucet. The caulk used was not mold resistant so we had to remove it and re caulk. The floor grout has cracked and loosened. The only way to fix this problem is to retile the kitchen. This would entail removing the cabinets, which means new counter tops...basically another remodel!

It was great. They came in a timely manner and it did not take long for them to have everything done. They were wonderful. They were very professional and did a super job. They also explained everything that needed to be done and the price was reasonable.

They were able to install the water heater the same day that I called (with no extra charge for same-day service). They let me know the time window and called prior to arriving. The technician was professional, polite and friendly. He was thorough and his work was meticulous. The water heater had to be repositioned slightly to comply with code and some additional items installed, also for code. He explained to my wife all the details of what he was doing. He didn't and quot;dumb it downand quot; nor did he use insider jargon. That was really nice--very respectful. He even advised of a problem with the prior installation in the positioning of the cutoff valve to the water heater. (It would also cut off the water to the outdoor hose faucet, which we discovered after the water heater died.) My wife was going to turn off the main water valve for him but he insisted he would do it so that he could leave the water on for her as long as possible. That was thoughtful. He made sure all appliances were working after turning the gas back on. Every time he came up from the basement, he took off his shoes. Again very thoughtful. The entire area where he worked was spotless when he was done. (Maybe cleaner than before he started!) Another nice touch was that he wrote the date of installation on a sticker on the tank. This is good both for warranty reference and to plan for replacement at the end of it's life span. Before leaving, he advised that if we had any problem that we could call, 24/7. Finally, as he was leaving, he made sure to remind my wife to close the garage door for her safety. He left two forms. One was the receipt, which was in line with the estimate (no surprises). The other was a checklist of the various services that his company performs, most of which I was not aware of. I'm glad because I would call them for more work in the future. This is an organization that takes pride in what they do--and it shows.

Total time 3.5 hours split between two days because the correct equipment wasn't on the truck and they didn't schedule enough time to complete the job the first time out. The only material that was provided were a couple of caps for the pvc pipe removal. More than $250/hour. The mechanic was very professional and helpful.

Gave window between 2 and 5 and at 2 service provider called me and was here in 15 minutes. Knew problem right away and stayed to make sure was fixed. Called night before for service and service provider called back at 7:30 am the next morning. Said could be available the next day, but then called back and came that day after cancellation. Would use again!

Sunday night we attempted to unclog the bathroom sink using liquid plumber. the sink was still clogged after 1 hour. The BIG MISTAKE was opening the pop up lavoratory assembly while the liquid plumber was in the drain. The toxic liquid spewed over the bathroom floor. After gingerly cleaning up the mess, we opened the window and put a fan in the bathroom overnight to counteract the fumes. In the morning we called customer service and spoke to Jim Franklin. He scheduled a late afternoon call after he recognized the panic in my voice. William arrived around 4 pm, assessed the problem, unclogged the sink, reattached the lavoratory assembly and replaced an internal part. We are very grateful for the quick response and the efficiency, professionalism, courtesy of William who performed the repairs. Thank you Shreve Mcgonegal!!

Tsegaye, the service technician, replaced the injector pump: a very messy job since its cover fell apart and the work had to be done within a closet. He also had to replace the bottom section of the drywall and base board damaged by water. I had called the firm on a Thursday morning and Tsegaye arrived hours later. He evaluated the problem and fully explained our needs with a complete estimate. He returned early on Saturday morning with everything we needed and completed the job as promised.

It took a number of visits to diagnose and fully fix the problem with the furnace, but their workman stuck through it and in the end, repaired the issue.

It went smoothly and quickly each time. The toilets were made by Gerber, and the flushing action is vastly superior to the 30-year old toilets they replaced, and they use less water. I highly recommend the company and the products I bought. I have one more toilet to replace, and I would NOT use any other provider or buy any other toilet.

I called Shreve-McGonegal at 7 am on a Friday to report that we had a bad leak behind a wall that had soaked carpeting on first story and left water in the basement. I told them I'd shut the water off at the house intake. The scheduler promised to try to have a man there by late afternoon. Two hours later the technician, Tsegaye, called and asked whether he could look at it on his way to another job. He did, confirmed that the leak would require opening the wall and said he would be back at the conclusion of his other jobs. He called just before 5 and said he would be arriving as soon as traffic allowed. At 6 (traffic was terrible) Tsegaye arrived and an hour and a half later the leak was fixed. When he turned the water back on however, he discovered another much smaller leak on the adjacent pipe. Remarkably, I had two leaks, not one. Although it was already past 7:30 and Tsegaye had been on the job since 7 that morning. He stayed and replaced the second leaky pipe, and at 9:30 pm, he was finished. My thanks to Tsegaye for putting in a more-than-14-hour day to insure our problem was solved. And that is why Shreve-McGonegal will always be my choice in the future.
