Pristine Water Treatment

Pristine came to my house to give me a bid for a water softener installation. The initial bid was very high and included services I was not interested in. I expressed that so he gave me another bid for a less expensive unit. On the bid he added a "discount" of $400, although the bid did not indicate what the discount was for. I decided to accept the bid and hire them, but when I emailed them later to asked them to requote the job with their 10% military discount, I was told by Pristine that I already received a $400 discount so they would not be giving us the military discount. When I asked what the initial discount was for, I was told that it was for "easier install since we will not need as much time or materials." That is clearly not a discount, that is just a lower bid for less labor and material costs. This was clearly a way for them to avoid giving a military discount to 2 veterans. I believe Pristine to be unethical and I think this is a shady business practice. I did not give them my business.

Pristine did a great job. We were pleased they were willing to hook up existing equipment, as some companies had refused to. (Our previous company had gone out of business, and they complimented the existing work.) They worked quickly and cleaned up after themselves. Now our water is acid free and has fewer minerals. No more white powder everywhere!

They came out quickly, took photos of area to be installed and then never returned a bid or contacted me again. I'm not real appreciative of someone photographing the inside of my house for no reason. Waste of my time. Very gruff and seemed bothered by the mere prospect of my job. No thanks!

On Monday, October 29, 2018 Kenny and Steve installed an acid neutralizer tank. Everything seemed fine. On Friday, November 2, 2018 I went down in the basement and it was flooded. I called the company and spoke to Michelle she sent out Kenny to fix the leak and clean up the water. Kenny came over I went down in the basement with him . He found the leak and said that he did't work on that part of the system and that was all Steve's doing and that Steve must have tugged on the pipe too hard. Kenny said that he was only responsible for fixing the leak and that I should call my homeowners company to clean up the water. Then he said he was going to heat up the pipe push it back in and clamp it down. I went upstairs to answer my phone. Michelle called to see how everything was going I told her what Kenny said. Next thing I know Kenny brought in a shop vacuum and towels and he was cleaning up the water under the stairwell. He said he fixed the leak and everything was fine. . Michelle called a company Water Damage Pro to set up fans and dehumidifiers and remove the buckled floors. After everyone left I checked the pipe to make sure it wasn't leaking and when I touched the pipe I got black tar stuff all over my hand and it was wet so I couldn't tell that is was still leaking. On Monday there was a lot of water on the floor. I called the pristine water again. This time they sent out Steve and Kenny to fix the leak. Steve said that it may be a crack in the wall or well pipe and they were not responsible. The basement never had a leak in it prior to that.

The technician was able to schedule the inspection quickly to meet my timeline. The first test did not pass and he came back out to treat the well and do a retest of my water. The second test did pass. Just be aware there is a separate cost for the re-test!

We were mislead in what we will be getting. We were very clear in our question and told them in an email before proceeding forward, that there is a ton of white residue on things, and if their equipment (Entek DHCL-100) would clear that up 100% and make it like all of our water is like bottled water, then we would go forward, and we were told that yes, it will solve our problem. We specifically told them that if the residue continues to exist, how would we be able to address that and that getting rid of the residue is the reason we were considering getting a water softening system. We told them we did not want to be stuck with a piece of equipment that will not satisfy our needs. We were reassured by Michelle Hager "So yes, I'd say it will do the trick!" and "I do believe this will solve the problem." As a potential buyer at the time of purchase, we clearly brought up all our concerns and told them exactly what we want, if their equipment was not going to satisfy our needs, they should have told us so. Instead, they continuously reassured us that this will remove the residue completely. This was not a $100 purchase for us, and there was a lot of consideration put into it before we decided to get Pristine Water install the device for us. And the reason we decided to go with them was because we were told that this will solve our problem. If (my problem == white deposits and residue) AND (their response == our installation will solve your problem) => then (end result == NO residue after installation), but we did not get the promised service. First time we brought up that the problem still exists, we were told it is dust, dish soap, etc etc, but we even get the white residue in our refrigerator water dispenser (now mind you that the water goes through their device and also goes through a regular refrigerator filter), so 1- nobody uses dish soap in their refrigerator drinking water, and 2- it even goes through a 2nd filter, so why am I still seeing the deposit/residue?! After spending $3800.00 on their installation and system, "We are stuck with a piece of equipment that does not satisfy our needs"!!! Exactly what we told them that we do not want to happen, in the beginning before hiring them. And it is very unfortunate that when I told them "We didn't receive the service we were PROMISED" they tell us "but, it's better that it was before"!!! As if it's okay to deliver partial service and get full payment. This was by far the worst $3800.00 we have ever spent. The attached pictures are the amount of white deposit and residue we still get on our dish rack!

great. visit to look at home set up and arrival on time. Informative and up front about various solutions and costs. Quote was emailed, and after back and forth with questions/suggestions to additions to quote (ie installation and removal of old units included stated) Installation was set up, installer came on time and did the job without making any mess. Check was written. As soon as I learn to use the computer screen to adjust the programing, I'll be in great shape! I was told to call the owner on his cell while I'm in the basement looking at it. Will get to that in the next few days.

Left voicemail last Friday, Tuesday, and sent e-mail via web site "Contact Us" on Wednesday and have gotten no response.

Wonderful, this clearly is a company that goes above and beyond the call of duty to provide exactly what you need at a great price. Our system really works to get out the chlorine and really makes the water soft without breaking the bank. Lifetime warranty on the unit and just 3 salt refills a year. Really set and forget unit that delivers on what we needed to address our hard water and high chlorine in the water. This company is filled with people that are customer oriented and meeting the real needs of their customers.

Every company I've used from Angie's List has been positive. I thought they were competitive. They returned my phone calls in a timely manner. From what I remember they were on time.

Roy & his helper were very efficient & friendly. They have in the past repaired, upgraded & regularly serviced my water treatment equipment while being prompt & responsive. I have dealt with this family company for years & have only the best to say about them. I highly recommend them!

Roy and Michelle's father, Dan, installed our current water softener in June of 1999, when he worked for another company. I was primarily concerned about the effects of chlorine on the body, both externally and internally, for our family, especially our two young children. The cost of the initial water-softening system was a little under $5000, which was not insubstantial. We were immediately pleased with the pleasant feel and no-chlorine smell of our water. It makes a big difference in the feel of a bath with the non-chlorinated water. We also had a reverse osmosis unit installed, and upgraded it in the past few years to a better model (Entek, $1300) when the original one stopped performing well. I LOVE the taste of my water! Whenever I travel, I realize how fortunate I am to have the chlorine and other chemicals and toxins removed from my drinking water (to which I do add mineral drops so that I'm not drinking distilled water). EVERY TIME we have had ANY contact with Pristine Water Treatment, it has been STELLAR: all employees are kind, helpful, knowledgeable, and answer any questions I ask, never making me feel silly or stupid for asking them. Roy will even tell me what to do in order to save money (change my own filters). I have found him to always be honest with me and he presents information and lets me make my mind up without any pressure to buy. In short this is a remarkable business with whom it is a PLEASURE to do business. I wasn't sure how to rate them on price because I don't know how they compare to others, but I feel you get what you pay for, and even if I'm paying more, I'm willing to pay more for quality and honesty.

I only purchased the RO system but would like to install a whole house system in the future; I wouldn't consider using anyone else to do so.
