Mr. Mitchell was honest and fair with us. When I got home, the job was done exactly as we requested, and the yard was cleared of any leftover debris. Nice work! We would definitely hire Mitchell Tree and Stump Service again.

I want to compliment the staff of Mitchell's Tree Service. I placed a call for a stump gringing and had it returned in less than 24 hours. A representative came by to give me an estimate, and I hired them immediately because of their responsiveness and fair price. They took care of everything, from scheduling Miss Utility, to final cleanup. They left a message that they would complete the work on Thursday, 20 Oct. I was pruning in my back yard and heard all sorts of sounds from the front, assuming that it was from a neighbor. I forgot that they would be on site. When I dragged my tarp of branches to the front, I realized the sound was the stump grinder in action, and they had just finished. The lead crewman, Jordan and his assistant introduced themselves. I liked them immediately because of their firm handshakes. They were both polite, courteous, and hard working. I could not believe the amount of mulch and how neat they were. They raked the big pile of new mulch into the planter. I was further impressed to see them use a leaf blower to blow up the trampled grass where the grinder moved across my yard. You'd never know that a heavy peace of equipment was used. I am very pleased with the service provided. I have attached two pictures: one with the stump and a picture of the completed worksite.

After watching our favorite White Oak tree - center piece of the front yard - lose it branches in high winds over the last two years we were still surprised when we walked out one morning to find it totally dead. Brown from the bottom to the top - overnight. Unfortunately this turned the day before high winds were projected and we departed for Alaska. Nothing we could do but hope it didn't hit the neighbor's house on the way down! Thinking we were still away, a neighbor contacted Mitchell Tree & Stump Service for work of their own and an estimate for our dead tree. We happen to have arrived in the middle of the night so we were able to discuss both the dead tree and the Sweet Gum. Mike presented an estimate for the White Oak on the spot and agreed to send an estimate for the additional Sweet Gum. He did what he said he would, when he said he would do it and included a copy of his insurance with both estimates. An excellent way to start. The job was scheduled for today and the team, to include Mike (the owner), appeared right on time with all the necessary equipment. Within thirty minutes they were up and running. The Sweet Gum was taken first and I was extremely impressed with not only the proficiency of team but the safety measures throughout the whole process -- tree climber/cutter tied and cabled in with lead lines below and a spotter, hearing protection, face/eye protection, heavy "chaps" when cutting, ropes for slowing the fall of the large limbs and trunk parts, and area cleared when portions were felled. To ensure the yard was not destroyed Mr. Mitchell chose to lay plastic mats across the grass for backing the trailer closer instead of using a machine that would have easily picked up the logs and carried them to the trailer but would have destroyed the yard. The team hauled or rolled the branches and logs by hand. Backbreaking work. This tree was not ground due to not wanting to risk cutting the roots of the Black Gum trees on either side of the Sweet Gum. The backyard was cleared and cleaned completely before they began on the front yard White Oak. The process was repeated for the White Oak but included cutting the limbs to fireplace sized logs and loading into my truck bed. I had hoped for more wood out of it but without splitting any I am satisfied with what I did get. Again, the yard was cleared and cleaned completely. To get the equipment closer to the job sites the neighbors allowed the team the use of their driveway for the day. That too was cleared of any evidence that they had been there -- even better than when they arrived! Summary: Mr. Mitchell and the team are all professional and personable. They do what they say they're going to do when they say they're going to do it. They work as a team with the owner working side by side with them. They are also insured (verified with the insurance company) and that is a huge plus when it comes to my property. The final question should be: would I hire them again? I hope I don't have to but if I do I wouldn't hesitate to do so.

They showed up on time and ready to work. They looked over the tree and area to make sure everything was clear. It took them a total of 2 hours maybe 3 to take the tree down, grind the stump out and clean up all the chips in our yard and the neighbors on both sides. The were professional and polite. Owner even took the time to take a look at 2 tree on the HOA property and give me an idea on what I should do to care for them as they are 80+ year old Oak Trees. He informed me about what was wrong with my tree and said it was a good choice to remove it. He is a licensed arborist with a passion for trees. Plus he is a Retired Marine. As a veteran myself I try to use local businesses that are Veteran owned. Overall it was a great experience.

Excellent results. Even my wife, who was dubious about the entire project was very happy with the results. The owner was present almost the entire time. Both he and his men consulted me throughout the job on my requirements and frequently asked if they needed to do anything more on each segment as it was completed. They wanted my approval and satisfaction with the work.
Description of Work: Cut down a holly bush/tree and ground down the stump. Cut 3-4 feet off a 35 foot long and 10 foot wide hedge, a very difficult task. Heavily trimmed several Cyprus trees, and lightly trimmed 2 maple trees. This was an all day job for 5 men who worked their tails off in high heat and humidity.

Service was scheduled but not performed. Mr. Mitchell called me at 12:59 on 15 May to cancel a job (scheduled for "after lunch") that same day due to a sick employee. I was disappointed because I took time off from work specifically so I could be present to get this service performed. When I called on June 16th to reschedule the work for June 24th, 25th, or 26th (whatever was most convenient for him) he told me he needed at least two weeks notice to schedule the service and could not do it. I am disappointed because on the day the work was originally scheduled to be performed I got, literally, one minute's notice that it was not going to happen but when I want to reschedule the service I am obliged to accommodate Mr. Mitchell's schedule with no thought to the inconvenience he has already caused me by canceling at the last minute the first time. I understand people get sick and jobs have to be cancelled occasionally but when it happens, every effort should be made to compensate the customer for the cancellation. 10 days should be plenty of time to schedule this and if he really valued the customer he would have made time for this job that he cancelled back in May.

I would like to say that Mr. Mitchell and his company are an outstanding company. We had two older very large trees in our back yard that needed to be accessed for possible removal. My husband and I were very concerned because one of the trees was hollow and the other's roots were on the surface of the lot and close to our house. I had contacted 4 other tree service companies for estimates and evaluations. Two of which wanted to take down trees that I was not asking about, three wanted to use a crane because no one wanted to climb a hollow tree and one asked for cash up front and he would take out anything we wanted. I was getting frustrated and just wanted someone, insured, honest and trustworthy. Mitchell's company was the last on my list to call. Should have been the first and I should have stuck with Angie's List from the get go. Mr. Mitchell made and appointment to come to the home and meet with my husband and I. We showed him the trees. He did an examination of them and accessed that yes they should come down but it was not an emergency. He also indicated that the hollow tree did not have to be removed by a crane and that if it had survived all the really bad storms we have had over the last few years, it would more than likely survive a few more. None the less he left it up to us to decide if we wanted to use his services when we were ready. We hired him on the spot! Mitchell's Tree and Stump came to the house on 13 May. My neighbor sent me pictures of their trucks and said they looked very professional. She was impressed. When I arrived home that evening, WOW! It didn't even look like anyone had been to the home, let alone remove any trees but low and behold, they were gone. Like magic! The trees had been cut close to the ground and all debris, branches, leaves, twigs and rocks had been removed. It was amazing and of course so very impressive!!! Mr. Mitchell called later on that evening to see if all was good and if we were satisfied with the job. Boy was I ever!! I will hire them again in a heart beat and refer them to anyone I possibly can. I can't say enough about how wonderful I think this company and Mr. Mitchell is. Thank You!!!!

Mitchell's Tree Service was outstanding. I called to have some branches trimmed and a couple of trees removed. Mr Mitchell's crew quickly removed branches that were potentially harmful to my roof and reached out to remove other potentially troublesome branches I hadn't even noticed. When asked about removal of trees I thought were dead, he evaluated them, determined they were not dead and suggested leaving them in place. His service is great and prices less than any other tree service I have used. I will use him again.

This is the third time in the last decade we have used this highly professional, competent, reasonable company. Another great job - once again we were highly satisfied. The tree was unusually deeply-rooted, the stump massive. Hard work, but no problem for this outstanding company, it's owner and crew. Highest recommendation.

I compared prices by reviewing other reviews on 3 other companies and paid close attention to overall price. I had a budget in mind and the reviews on Mitchell Tree service stood out. I called a competing company - Payne's Tree and service and never received a call back from them after 2 messages. Mr. Mitchell called within 2 business days and agreed to meet me at a time of my convienience. I was very impressed with his knowledge as he is also a certified arborist. My original thought was to get rid of the crepe myrtle tree but he advised to just prune it and it turned out to be gorgeous. He was also kind enough to come back out and trim a little more than he had agreed to at my Mother's request...he could have very easily charged more but wanted to ensure we were fully satisfied. I highly recommend that anyone needing tree service to allow Mr. Mitchell to put a bid in. Very honest and very very fair pricing. I have found my go to tree service company and will use him again...

This was the second time in the last 10 years I have used this Stafford tree service company (do not confuse with the Woodbridge Mitchell Tree Service company) , Mike Mitchell the owner - and both times received excellent, professional, reasonable service. This time my wife and I wanted to have a huge Leyland Cypress, and two other very tall trees removed. Mr. Mitchell arrived at the stated time in the morning with three other crew members. All trees were removed competently and safely. Everyone wore hearing protection and the stress on personal safety and prevention of damage to our and my neighbor's close-by property and other trees was clearly evident. The over 40 foot massive Cypress was chippered, and the stump removed/grinded up. All branches, cut tree pieces, etc of the other two trees were removed - overall cleanup was excellent. We (especially my non-bashful wife!) peppered Mr. Mitchell, who BTW is an arborist and obviously devoted horticulturist, with all kinds of questions about the care and maintenance of some other trees and shrubs - he patiently and graciously answered them all, providing us with good, honest advice. We were impressed with the competency, professionalism and extra helpfulness/customer service extended. Cannot recommend more highly.

Had an about, 60 foot Red Oak in my circular gravel driveway which started dying about 4 years ago. It was dropping all its branchess and had finally given up the ghost about 2 years ago and was rapidly drying and falling apart. I got a few estimates in the $4-5k range as the tree split about 1fott from the ground and was two distinct trunks for 60'. One trunk was leaning out over the road and would have collapsed there eventually and the other was leaning over towards my house and several cars. I finally decided to get serious and looked through Angie's and saw reviews for Mitchell Tree Service. I sent an email,.. they dropped by when I was at work (I work in St Louis so it's not like I could be home in Stafford). Peter @ Mitchell's called me and spoke with me and gave me estimates for cutting the tree and leaving it or taking it away.. which oddly enought was cheaper.. and the estimate was $1200.. I immediately agreed.. huge savings over the others... anyway,.. when I finally got a paper estimate,.. it was $1500, which didn't bother me as I would have been pleased ar $2500. I was told that the team would be at my home somewhere between 1000-1030... at 1015 there's a knock at my door and several trucks in the driveway. I spoke with them for a few minutes... discussed the bald eagle flying overhead for a while and then went in. They stood outside,.. speaking amongst themselves, walking around and looking at the surrounding property. After about 30-45 minutes they started taking out equipment. I thought they'd top the tree and work their way down.. lo and behold one guy with a chainsaw drops that puppy perfectly across the road and the other 10 or so guys clean it up in about a minute... with minimal impact to traffic (They put out a couple of guys to direct). Chopped up and about another 15 minutes. Wow. The second one, leaning towards the house got topped within 15-20 minutes.. cleanly and safely. After all the wood was cleaned up the stump was ground down to about 6 inches under ground level and all branches, twigs, just all the junk was gone in a minimal timeframe. I would not hesitate to recommend Mitchell's tree service to ANYONE needing a tree gone in an efficient manner. The guys were friendly,.. waved at my wife as she took pictures for Facebook and were very complete in everything they did,.. when they left.. the only thing that showed that a tree was there was the layer of ground up wood chips covering up the stump. Their work was good enough that the wife and I had a grin on our faces and I tipped a couple of hundred extra. It was worth it.

Everything went very well. They arrived on time, worked here for almost 11 hours. They cleaned up all of the debris. The entire crew that worked with the Mitchell tree service, the crane company they used was an over-all AAA+++ experience.
Description of Work: They are extremly prompt, professional, courteous, on- time and reasonably priced for the job that had done. Mr. Mitchell came right out and inspected our huge tree. We had a 5000 lb limb just hanging ready to give way at any time very close to our home. Mr Mitchell moved quickly to organize the crane we needed to remove this tree. It was a very tedious situation getting a swing crane in here to maneuver over our house and remove that limb. Then proceeding to remove our 40,000 lb tree very carefully. I would recommend Mitchell Tree Service very highly. Every one of his workers were very professional also and worked very hard. They get a AAAAA+++++++ in our book.
