Top-notch company staffed with a professional team of trades that take pride in their work and make customer satisfaction as their #1 goal. In addition to the high quality work by the various trades, Kitchens For You also gets high marks for project management. At the start of the project, the owner, Chris, developed a detailed design plan that explained all of the steps and estimated timeline, necessary to complete the work when promised. From the initial demolition to the final finishing touches, we were always kept in the loop and given advance notice when the various stages of work needed to occur. The following are key points worth mentioning: - Superb customer support - Excellent project management to include adjustments for design changes and when unforeseen issues occurred, e.g., the requirement to upgrade the electrical circuit for a new appliance - Attention to detail. This kitchen remodel consisted of dozens of specific steps requiring detailed coordination between various vendors and trades. Everything went off without a hitch. Cleanliness - during the demolition phase, the entire kitchen was sealed to reduce the impact of construction dust spreading throughout the house. At the end of the project, the post cleaning crew did an excellent job as well. - planned payments that matched the work schedule protected both parties from start to finish. Last but not least, they never tried to up sell a particular item. Chris listened to the person in charge (wife) and provided suggestions, based on his past experiences designing and remodeling homes. Bottom line: if you want the job done right, the first time, and prefer value over expediency, this is the company for you.

After exhaustive research, I had a very difficult decision to make between Kitchens For You and another company. I chose the other company, even though I cannot provide a convincing reason why.

Update to 3/8/2017 Review. As indicated in my previous review, there were issues with the new tile floor that KFY installed In November 2015, from the very beginning. Before the tiling was complete, 17 tiles were found to be loose. The subcontractor immediately replaced them. When the loose tiles were taken up, it showed that the mortar was not sticking to the tiles. One year later, in 2016, more tiles came loose. I called the subcontractor and they came back and repaired 9 more tiles (in different locations). Again, when the tiles were taken up, they were essentially clean; no mortar was sticking to them. Another year later, in 2017, more tiles where loose. This time 32 tiles. I called KFY, and after 4 more phone calls, the owner, Fred finally came out with another man (apparently a flooring subject matter expert). They inspected the floor, and observed the loose tiles (that gave a sandy crunching sound when walked on). They tested the floor for excessive moisture, and found none. They also found that there was no mortar between the cement board and the wood subfloor, and the man said there should be. Fred said he would take care of it, and they left. For the next 4 months, I called numerous times and spoke to Fred and/or left messages. Each time I spoke with him, he would say he was working on it, and trying to contact his subcontractor. After enough of that, I realized my efforts were going nowhere. It was clear, that Kitchen's For You was not interested in making this right. Since that time, more tiles have become loose, and I expect them to continue for quite some time. Thanks for leaving us to clean up your mess, Kitchen’s For You. So far, 41 tiles have been replaced in a 400 SF floor, since the project was finished. 9 by the subcontractor, who came back once, and the rest by me. For 2018, there are 21 more loose tiles in new locations waiting to be fixed. As I mentioned in my previous review, you know a good contractor by the way they respond when problems happen. Fred made one problem right, that cost him two cabinets, but when something really bad happens, like the tile floor, which is foundational to the whole kitchen project, is installed incorrectly, this is how KFY handled it.

Once the cabinets was installed, had to go see him because he did not answer calls. The cabinets had bee taken out because the granite tops could not be leveled on them. He never came to oversee the work until then, I did not want that subcontractor in my home because of the job he had done. the cabinets were redone, but the left the granite for the bar is not sealed. The bar is sitting on shims so that it can be level. Fred walked out knowing this. I am looking for a contractor to make the corrections. I have not heard from him, The trim for the cabinets still have not been done by his contractor.
Description of Work: Replacement cabinets and granite countertops
First of all i want to say I love my kitchen counters but there were many issues along the way so I want to break my experience down into multiple parts. -Planning was very easy, went in picked out what I wanted (not what I got but we'll get to that), the measurements were done a couple of days later. -Pre-execution is where the problems started, a week after the measurements were taken, nothing, the deposit cleared my bank but silence. I would call the office and Sheila would answer (very nice lady) but she would tell me Fred would call me later. Finally about a week and a half after measurements Fred finally called, as I was told the granite yard (United Granite, not much good to say about them) needed to delay the project 2 weeks to get proper measurements around a post in my kitchen, Fred said that they would remove the old counter get more proper measurements install 2/3 of my counters (the area unaffected by the post) and bring the last piece in the following day. Not as easy as i hoped but I was willing to accept that, scheduled start date Aug 31st. They call and schedule a time with me the Friday before, between 3-5 pm -August 31st They come (at around 10am, glad someone was home) and take out my old counter tops, get their measurements. Considering what Fred had told me I thought that they would be back between 3-5 to install the 2/3 of new counters. Call Fred at 5. He tells me I was mistaken that they aren't going to be installing anything the 31st, they would be back the following day to install the counters. Ok, makes sense to not make multiple trips. I get home and everything in mostly cleaned up except the old sink is in the middle of my driveway. Fred promises he'll come get it that evening. -September 1st My mom is at the house, waiting. I had planned to be home early for installation, mostly because I wanted to see how the work was done, so I leave work at the planned time figuring they will get there while I'm driving. Finally get back in cell phone signal, call my mom, nobody was came, nothing. Figuring Fred will have an answer about the schedule and the store is on my way home, I stop in. Sheila greets me, when i say who I am am she gets a very strained look on her face, says she will try to call Fred so he can talk to me. She calls Fred, voicemail. I say I will wait. She keeps trying to get a hold of Fred keeps getting a voicemail, sends texts. After about an hour he finally calls back. He says he will try to get a hold of John from United Granite to figure out what is going on. another hour, Fred calls back and says that United Granite has not even ordered my slab yet, they will "try" to send a crew to go pick one up from another yard. This is where i start getting irritated, at this point I am not mad at Kitchens For You but United Granite. Fred tells me he will get in touch with John (who happens to be the owner of United Granite) and have him call me. Eventually he calls and gives me the standard apology, tells me they are going to try and get my slab but it will be a couple of days at earliest probably next week they might get to install it (keep in mind they took apart my kitchen already) I'm irritated and ask what quartz did he have in his possession right now that could be cut and installed tomorrow. He named off a few; I was in the showroom so I could see what they all looked like. He named one that I liked. I told him use that. He seemed happy I wasn't demanding he magic something out of thin air. I was going to get a counter, everybody is happy-ish. John couldn't give me a schedule but said morning. He promised he would call ahead to make sure someone was available. -September 2nd -Having minimal faith at this point, constant text contact with my mom, she has places to be that day. No one associated with the counters text or call me. Around 10, the granite people show up with my counters (glad someone called, not) they get the counters installed, my mom said they were really nice. They finish around noon. Great, now we just need the plumber to get there and we are golden. I call Fred to ask when the plumber will be there, no answer. Call Sheila, she doesn't know. My mom has a hungry infant and a bored 8 year old, she makes the decision to go to the grocery store, while she is the check out line, the plumber (my mom said he was great) calls me saying he is in front of my house and no one is home. I call my mom she rushes home. Call the plumber back, he laughs and say no rush he'll wait. He gets my new sink hooked up. Everything works. I call Fred, tell him I am satisfied with the installation. He tells me to come in the following week to do final payment, he wanted to do some kind of credit back because of how bumpy everything went. I remind him of the old sink still in my driveway, he says he will come and get it that evening. -September 7th Fred wasn't in the office -September 9th Fred is there, we work out a $200 dollars credit back, but oops I forgot my checkbook, tell him my mom will drop the check off the next day. Remind him about the sink still in my driveway. He promises he will get it that evening. -September 10th My mom drops the check off that morning. I get home that evening, sink is still there. Call Fred, says is is on his way to come and get it right then -September 11th Sink is still there, I call, connects and immediately the line hangs up. Now I am irritated. My husbands gets the phone number, he calls, Fred answers. I don't know what was said but in the end I still have a sink in my driveway and am pretty sure that I am going to have to dispose of it myself. The quality of the product and the craftsmanship are great but scheduling issues, lack of follow-up, and promises not delivered made this a much more stressful experience that I could recommend to anyone. I don't know who was a fault with the counters not being ordered but someone from Kitchens for You should have made sure things were ready to go a head of time or at the very least called me when there was an issue. If you say you are going to pick something up, then do it, don't just start hanging up after the final check clears.

I am 100% pleased with my new kitchen. Although the price was slightly more than I had hoped it would be, the quality of products and workmanship was worth every cent. Fred made several trips to my house and made frequent phone calls to assure that every design detail was understood and approved by me. He brought counter and cabinet choices for me to view in my kitchen before I made the final decision. Even when I made design changes during the process, he was extremely understanding and patient. He made me feel that the enjoyment of my kitchen was his top priority. Although I had studied the process and felt very confident in what I wanted, Fred made valuable suggestions in cabinet layout that greatly improved upon my original design. I have friends that have commented on how perfectly designed it is. As an added bonus, Fred uses products that are made in America and helped me in donating my old items to charity. These initiatives are very important to him. I found him to be very trustworthy and professional. I love my new kitchen and am confident that the quality of products and workmanship will last me a lifetime. JT
Description of Work: Designed a kitchen renovation that was personally suited to my needs. The renovation included new cabinets, countertop and appliances.
Fred's crews showed up when they said they would and did exactly what I expected - no surprises. Courteous, On-Time, Careful, Professional, Accommodating. Immediately after the removal of the old cabinets, counters and floor, work was started on the floor rehabilitation and prep work was underway for new cabinets. Fred provided an excellent array of cabinet choices and no pressure while you made decisions and when asked for advice he'll offer suggestions without pressure - his design suggestions are timely and excellent. In fact, now that I think about it, I don't recall Fred ever saying "you need to do this or that". His method was always pretty laid back allowing the customer to work out their own decisions. Kitchen's for You stayed in regular contact to keep us updated on progress, time frames, deliveries and material's. We interviewed between 6 - 9 different contractors before we met Fred and instantly felt comfortable with him. He's retired military veteran and I am a veteran from the 60's, so we had a lot in common and maybe that established an understanding between us, but Fred is very easy to understand - communication is not a problem with these folks. I would not hesitate to recommend Kitchen's for You as a contractor for kitchen remolding with the absolute highest degree of confidence. Fred is well connected in the community for top quality materials and workmanship and knows "how to make it happen". Custom wood Cabinets, finished your way, tile installed your way - you choose it all.
Description of Work: I had a full kitchen gut and rebuild. New cabinets, counters, floors and appliances. I also had my hall floor tiled. The contractor used by the provider did all the work with his people. The overall quality was good and any issues were quickly resolved. The quality of the cabinets sold by Kitchens For You is very good and I would recommend them. The remodel took five weeks which included one week away so I could paint the kitchen. I was a bit concerned that the spaces left for the dishwasher, stove and fridge were too small but the appliance supplier were able to fit them. I did recommend to the provider that the space for the fridge could have been about one inch wider to allow for easier access and cooling. Also, the counter fit, granite, was very tight and made fitting the stove a challenge. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my kitchen.

Fred was very professional, punctual, and responsive. He obviously enjoys his work. Fred offered several design layout options and earnestly listened to our thoughts and questions. We purchased his mid-level cabinetry and received unprompted comments from the subcontractors about their high level of quality. The installation was subcontracted and they were punctual, courteous, and respectful. Despite the age of our home and the fact that our walls are not exactly plumb, the cabinetry seems tight and everything functions as advertised. Fred stopped by the house to review progress at every stage of the process. Any problems that developed were quickly resolved by Fred and his assistant Shelia. Overall, the experience with Fred and Shelia was welcoming, collaborative and exciting. We are pleased with the outcome.
Description of Work: Kitchen layout planning, ordering of cabinetry and accessories, as well as, coordination of work with subcontractors for demolition and installation of cabinets and for measuring and installing the granite counter-top.
Our kitchen is nothing short of amazing. We turned the closet pantry into double ovens, replaced the range with an induction cooktop, added large drawers where there used to be lower cabinets, and put in a huge wall unit that is a desk and built in pantry. We put all new wood floors in the foyer, dining room and kitchen (tore up the ceramic tile), and repainted it all. All the suggestions that Fred made in type of cabinet, faucet, bar top, etc., were spot on. He knows his stuff and will make sure that you are completely happy with your kitchen. The cabinets are by far the finest we have ever had. Soft close doors and drawers, pull out spice rack, pull out knife block, lazy susans without the spindle in the middle that takes up so much room, drawers that pull all the way out so you aren't left digging for the spoon at the back, and so much more. We are thrilled with everything and honestly wouldn't change a thing.
Description of Work: We completely gutted and redesigned our kitchen. Kitchens for You designed it for free, something that no other custom kitchen place would do. He uses Crystal Cabinets, an American company that builds completely custom cabinets.

They were on time for the appointment and appeared very positive they could replace the upper cabinets and the doors on the bottom cabinets to give me the look I wanted. I was to receive an estimate by the end of the week. I didn't receive the estimate as promised so I left a message on Fred's cell phone. No response. I later went by the office and Crystal said she was working on it and would have it the next work day. I received an emailed estimate a couple of days later. However, it was incomplete. It did not include labor costs or costs for additional renovation work in the kitchen as promised. I followed up with Crystal and she said that she would get a complete estimate for me. I never heard from her.
Description of Work: I stopped by the showroom to get information on replacing my kitchen cabinets. The issue is that I currently have granite countertops and to replace the bottom cabinets would require removing the granite and putting it back. No one could guarantee that it wouldn't break. I spoke with Fred and Crystal and was very impressed by their professionalism and initial customer service. I arranged for them to come by and look at my kitchen.
For several years my wife and I had considered completely remodeling our kitchen. We had visited numerous businesses, done research on the internet, and watched HGTV for design concepts and ideas. But we hadn't found anything that took our fancy or met our desires or standards. We noticed that a new business "Kitchen For You" had recently opened on Hwy. 610 in Stafford but had not yet ventured a visit. While visiting the "Home & Garden" show at the Fredericksburg Expo Center, turned out that "Kitchens For You" had a booth. After seeing what they had to offer in the way of cabinets (solid wood) and talking with Fred (the owner) and Sheila (office manager), my wife and I decided to visit their showroom. During out first visit to the "Kitchens For You" showroom we were immediately impressed by all that was offered and scheduled Fred to come visit our home. During that visit we discussed what we wanted done (new floor, appliances, granite countertops and lighting) and a proposed cabinet and island layout. Our concept also included changing the pantry closet into a large recessed cabinet and adding a desk with overhead cabinets. Fred took measurements and said he would have a preliminary design for us to review with a couple of days. Later that same week we were back at "Kitchen For You" to review the detailed design that Fred had prepared. It fully met our requirements. After discussing/selecting the type of cabinets we wanted, we decided to give Fred the go-ahead. Subsequently had a visit with a lead contractor (Helen Cantrell) and finalized the deal with Fred. Suffice to say my wife and I have been thoroughly pleased with the end product. We have a kitchen that far exceeded our expectations and surpasses any that we had previously seen. Anyone who has visited our home has been overwhelmed with the kitchen and the unsurpassed beauty and quality of the cabinetry and crown molding. Both Fred and Shiela are both a pleasure to work with and were very accommodating throughout the entire renovation. And as far as a lead contractor goes one could not ask for anyone better than Helen Cantrell. Helen and her subcontractors are top of the line and do precise, quality work. If you are looking to redesign or renovate your kitchen or bathroom (our next project), "Kitchens For You" is without doubt the place to go.
