The installation of the new flooring and carpet were completed well within the promised time. The installers were very professional, polite and cleaned as they installed the product. The flooring installer even moved the furniture back into place. Mr. Sediq Kakar was extremly professional and helpful with the selection of the new flooring and carpet and was very knowlegable about the types of product and their quaility. Prompt service and responivness to any questions we had. Outstanding service and would recommed to anyone for flooring and carpet needs.

In July 2013, I met with Golie at First American Carpet at Stafford Market Place, in reference to having carpet installed at my vacant rental property. At this time I provided her with the exact square footage that I needed carpeted, based on measurements from another carpet installer. At that time Golie quoted me a price of $2900.00. Unfortunately, after meeting with Golie my basement flooded at the property and I was unable to schedule the carpet installation until the flood damage was repaired. In August 2013, after repairing the basement, I met with Golie again. She advised that she would have her employee do another measurement, and would call me with a quote. Golie called me the day following the measurement and quoted me a price of $3300, only a month later. I advised Golie that I could not afford the increase in cost and left. The following day Golie called and quoted me $2800. I agreed to this and paid the balance in full on 8/10/13, with the installation to occur on 8/12/13. Golie advised that I was not required to be there during installation (a decision I deeply regret). I advised Golie that the property was vacant, and that I do not live near the property. She advised that she would have the installers leave the key inside the property upon completion. 8/12/13 came and went with no contact from Golie or anyone at First American Carpet. The soonest that I could respond to the property to verify the installation was the following Saturday, 8/17/13. Upon my arrival on 8/17/13, I discovered both of my thermostats set to 50 degrees Fahrenheit and both outdoor units covered in ice. Damage was also done to an interior wall, in which one of the installers placed a piece of tape over the hole with "something fell on wall" written on it. I was never contacted in reference to the damage, and First America Carpet never offered to properly repair the damage. Prior to having the carpet installed I had the entire property painted, to include the wall that was damaged. As for the carpet installation, it was subpar. There were no transition strips installed where the carpet met either tile or hardwood. Where the carpet met the hardwood in the kitchen, the carpet tacks poked through and pricked my foot because there was no transition strip installed. At the top of the stairs, where the carpet met tile, the carpet was poorly secured to the face of the stair. I installed a stair transition strip myself so that the carpet would not pull away from the stair causing a tripping hazard. In addition, along the wall the carpet was not properly cut or secured. In some places the carpet is not fully under the trim and concrete is visible, or the carpet pulls up easily. When I contacted Golie on 8/18/13, she would not allow me to voice all of my concerns and advised that she would call the installer and call me back. When she called back, she advised that the installer put the hole in the wall, and that damage is to be expected because they are lifting heavy things. At no time did Golie offer to have the damage fixed or to assist in any way. She then advised that the installer stated that he did not touch the thermostat, and that someone else must have done it. I explained to Golie that her employees were the only ones with access to the property besides myself. To which she responded that it was her word against mine, and for me to "prove it". Golie then stated that I was arguing with her over a few dollars. I have not received my electric bill for last week but I would imagine that having the thermostat set at 50 degrees Fahrenheit in August, is not a "few" dollars. An additional concern I have is permanent damage that could have done the outdoor units, since they were covered in ice. Golie refused to remedy any of these issues in any way.

In preparing to replace the carpet in my entire upstairs level, I researched carpet brands and products for some time during the winter. I met Sadiq, co-owner of First American Carpet and Floors, in his Woodbridge store. He was helpful in describing the different carpet weaves and their relative merits. Although I continued to research and shop for carpet, I decided to wait until after the holidays to have the job done. In March, I returned to First American and made arrangements for purchase and installation of a Mohawk product called SmartStrand w/Dupont Sorona polymer. When I made the purchase, I met with Derek the other co-owner of this locally owned business. When I signed the contract, I remember being told that prior to installing the new padding, any insecure subflooring would be secured so there would be no squeaking once the new padding and carpet were installed. The evening before the installation, Derek called to ensure all was ready for the next day. On the day of installation, the installers arrived on time at 8:00 am and quickly went to work removing the old carpet and padding. By 9:30, all old material had been stripped and the master bedroom had already received its new padding. The entire job was completed by 2:30 and the crew left. The installers were polite, respectful and cleaned up fully after the job. However, to my surprise, neither owner appeared and neither called on the day of the job itself--the installers brought the product, installed it, collected the balance due, and departed. In fact, there was no follow-up at all, that day or ever, to see if I was satisfied. Nothing. I consider this unprofessional and unsatisfactory from a customer service perspective, even if I had no issues with the job. As it has turned out, there are several places where the newly-carpeted floor squeaks mercilessly. I began researching whether this can be remedied after carpet is already installed. It definitely is. When I called First American to discuss this, I received considerable push-back instead of accommodation. I was informed that subflooring is only secured as part of a carpet replacement job if such service is purchased up front. I am quite certain I never noticed the floor squeaking before the job, as it now does in several places. So prospective arrangements for a non-problem, including negotiation of a price, would not have been possible. I believe this is an inherent part of replacing carpet, and I did not expect to be informed that the securing of squeaking subfloor was DELIBERATELY NOT part of obtaining new carpet from First American Carpet and Floors, because, get this, my county does not require developers to screw subflooring to floor joists!!! Forewarned is forearmed!! The carpet itself is lovely and is widely available....
Description of Work: The original carpeting and padding in the entire upstairs (approximately 1200 sq. feet) were removed and new carpet and padding was installed in the master bedroom, upstairs office, three additional bedrooms and the hallway, landing and stairs.

They were early to work. They called and the day before and told said that they were be able to come into an earlier time bracket. They were flexible with the price and we could negotiate with them. We told them how much we wanted to spend and they were very helpful in getting us a good carpet for that price. The people who came into my house to work were very good and we didn?t have problems with them. They were very professional and did not damage anything.
Description of Work: They replaced the old carpet with new one in my family room.
