 + -1 moreThe technician was on time and gave me good information about what was wrong with our dishwasher and what he needed to do to fix it. He had to order a part, and it was in and the dishwasher was fixed in two days. He also gave me tips on how to maintain the dishwasher properly. The person who took my call was very friendly and got a technician out to me quickly-I called on a Friday afternoon and was seen on Monday morning.
Description of Work: Part of the computer system that runs the dishwasher was replaced.

 + -1 morePrompt service, but weird experience. All-American responded appropriately, but I don't think I'd call them again. (However, I did learn what a "coil brush" is and found one at Home Depot, along with another special brush for A/C units, vents, etc.)
Description of Work: A slight burning smell was coming from my spare refrigerator, an older GE model (1987 or so, it came with the house.) All-American said $60 for an estimate, applied to repair. The technician came and we pulled the refrigerator out. He removed some cardboard paneling and we tilted the refrigerator back to reveal LOTS of dust, dirt, and dog hair underneath, on the coils, etc. The technician got some tools and I had my shop-vac handy, but then he suddenly stopped working, said he didn't want to be around when I cleaned up the dirt, prepared the ticket and charged $90. When he left, I called All-Amer to question the charge. They called right back, reduced charge to $65 and apologized for the "unprofessional" behavior of the technician, who they said was unusually "sensitive" to some things, like (as he wrote on ticket) "20 yrs of dog hair in condenser coils." I bought a coil brush, did the cleaning, replaced the cardboard, and plugged in fridge. No more burning smell. So far, so good.

 + -1 moreI called Tuesday afternoon and was able to schedule a repairperson for the next morning. Pete diagnosed the problem and provided an estimate. He said to expect the parts to arrive on Monday and for the return visit to be on Wednesday. He was right on target. Although I ended up having to do a few loads in my neighbor's washer, I was pleased that the repair happened as he said it would. The washer is working fine and the new dryer lint screen was an added bonus (it had been on my husband's honey-do list for ages).
Description of Work: Repaired the timer on our Maytag washer. Also ordered a replacement dryer lint screen.

 + -1 moreAppliance Repair was referred to me by another company on the list because it was going to be a week before they could get over to work on the dishwasher. I checked Angie's List and saw that they had good references, so I called Appliance Repair on Tuesday and they came on Friday morning. They were very prompt, friendly, and professional. Pete could have easily have told me something more serious was wrong with my dishwasher and I wouldn't have known otherwise. He did have to charge me the minimum service call which I understand. I also appreciated the "Dishwasher 101" lesson he gave me. Before he left he also let me a handout with some very useful tips on appliance upkeep.
Description of Work: I called All American Appliance because my dishwasher was not filling with water. Pete (the serviceman) opened the dishwasher and quickly figured out that the floater (? I can't remember the exact name) was just stuck and he fixed it by jiggling it. That took less than a minute. He explained to me why it happened and how to fix it in the future. Pete also provided some helpful advice on my dishwasher and I bought some dishwasher cleaner from him. I definitely felt more knowledgeable about how to use my dishwasher when he left.

 + -1 moreOverall, a good experience. The service technician came within the appointment window and diagnosed the problem with the machine in a short amount of time. He told me I would be called with a quote of the cost to repair the machine. I paid a $49.95 service call charge, which was later deducted from the total cost of the repair. Bonnie called later the same day with the quote, and we scheduled a repair date. Unfortunately, she called back four days later and told me that the first quote had not included the most expensive of the replacement parts. I would have seriously considered not repairing my washer had I known the full cost sooner, but at that point decided to go ahead with the repair. Again, the service technician arrived within the appointment window and was quite quick in performing the repair. The washer has worked fine since the repair. My only complaint was not receiving the correct quote the first time.
Description of Work: They repaired our less than four-year old Kenmore front-loading washing machine by replacing the motor, the speed controller, and the selector controller. The machine had stopped spinning and tumbling.

 + -1 moreI was given the number for this company by another firm which had accumulated a two month backlog due to favorable reviews on Angie's List! The owner, Bonnie Woolsey, answered the phone and scheduled me for a service call the next day. The technician was prompt, professional, knowledgeable and spoke English. He determined that my washing machine did not have a serious problem, and did not charge me for the diagnosis. He replaced the water line to the refrigerator with a part that he had on his truck (I had provided model numbers when I called for service), and determined that the ice maker would also need to be replaced. This was a relatively painless repair experience, which is all I can ask for. This was the first time I had used All American, and I will definitely be a repeat customer.
Description of Work: Technician diagnosed why no water was reaching the ice maker or water dispenser in our refrigerator/freezer. He replaced kinked water line, diagnosed broken ice maker and called in the model number for an estimate on a replacement. Also checked washing machine that occasionally accumulated water in tub when not in use.

 + -1 moreI called All American and spoke with Bonnie. She told me it could be one of several different problems. She gave me a rough estimate of what each problem would cost to fix. She couldn't send anyone out that day because it was snowing, so she scheduled me as the first customer (8am) for the following day, a Friday. At 8:30am on Friday I called to find out why no one had arrived. Bonnie told me that the person scheduled to come to us had called in sick. She said she'd call me back with more info. I hadn't heard back an hour later, so I called again. This time I spoke with someone else (Christine I think?). She apologized and said she'd call me back with more info. Around 1pm no one had called back, so I called again. This time I told Christine that I was bothered that she and Bonnie had both promised a phone call and didn't call me. Christine apologized, but seemed defensive. She scheduled someone for Monday who came out and fixed the leak. He did a nice job.
Description of Work: We had a gas leak from our stove that needed diagnosis & repair.

The repairman was courteous and helpful, drained the machine and identified the problem, which was transmission that was wearing out. It was not necessary to replace at this time, and they didn't tell me to do so. When he left the machine was working just fine, and continues to do so.
Description of Work: My washing machine was "squealing", and had stopped, with a tub full of clothes and water.

 + -1 moreI got an appointment quickly, and they called before they came. He was polite, listened and then told me that it was only a cracked switch, and not the pump, like I had thought. He gave me an estimate before he replaced the switch, did the work, and left me with a folder that described how to maintain the washer. I was very pleased with the timeliness of the work, the quickness of the diagnosis, and the really quick repair. He also answered a question about another noise the machine was making.
Description of Work: The workman replaced a switch on the washer that had cracked and needed to be replaced. The machine would not empty or spin. He quickly determined that this was the problem, showed me the switch crack, and replaced it, even though he had to take off the whole back of the machine.
